MidNight Gems - Undiscovered, Underrated & Forgotten Songs vol.68 "The Race F1 Songs"

For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing songs & covers.

Tonight we have a special edition as I am gonna mix my love for music with my love for sports...well honestly I only love one sport. So I let myself get inspired, by great songs that link to great drivers. Well, let´s also include some dis songs for the not so great drivers just because they are great fun, if you follow F1 of course.

Well as any good grand prix I only have one option to kick off this Midnight gems session and that is with the Formula 1 theme song, but I guess you have never heard it like this.

1. FORMULA 1 Theme (acapella)

So this song was meant as the Anthem for the Dutch Grand Prix in 2020, it would be the first one on Zandvoort in over 25 years....and I was there so many years ago as a little boy. First and only time I have seen a real F1 race by the way. But this song has everything a good race song needs if you ask me.

2. Beat Me (Official Song F1 Dutch Grand Prix) - Davina Michelle

Released on  11 April 1988, this must be the most famous race song ever....or maybe it´s just me. But it set the stage for many songs that will follow tonight.... There is something with talking and long intro´s with regards to Formula One songs.

3. Yello - The Race

Talking about long intros full of chatter...here´s one....but still the build-up of this song is great...it matches the build-up of a good Grand Prix.... Not like today´s grand prix where Max retired the car with an engine on fire.

4. David Guetta - Dangerous (Official video) ft Sam Martin

This next song was what inspired me to write this gems session, I totally forgot about it until I heard it on some radio show this week. I used to play a remix that was just a bit more dancy and believe it or not, it was a floor filler.

5. CAKE - The Distance

Now that brings us to the funny part of tonight´s session...the part where we discuss the boys that play with f1 cars for one simple reason.... Daddy´s Cash.

Stroll proved once again that he should not drive a F1 car over the course of this weekend, but well as long as daddy pays the bills we will have to watch out for him I guess.

6. Rob Kubica - Daddy's Cash [Stroll Diss] (Feat Lil Ocon, Alfonso & Gangsta Guenther)

But in all honesty, it´s not just Stroll, fortunately. we got rid of one driving disaster, but the other one is still a menace. Latifi gave Verstappen his 202i Title so I guess I need to thank him, but I would rather see a real driver take his seat.

7. Daddy's Cash pt. 2 (feat. Mazepin, Latifi & $troll)

Formula One is not all bad, there have risen some new legends over these last couple of seasons and they sure deserve a tribute.

8. New Legends | Centuries

Although the car has been letting him down in 2022, there is only one Champion on the track and that´s Max. He is currently not even thinking about winning 2022, but the season has just started...he might be surprised ... but I am probably dreaming. Still, this is a tribute he can not be denied.

What the fluff are midnight gems?

Somewhere lost in time, trying to escape out of the rabbit hole back into the rat race there is a vacuum..... that´s the place where midnight gems are found.

My Midnight Gems will try to uncover & recover those beautiful songs that nobody ever noticed or might have been forgotten.

Who the fluff am I?

Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism. I have been wanting to do this for years....Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.
