MidNight Gems - Undiscovered, Underrated and Forgotten Songs vol.23 "Feeling So 90´s Again"
For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing covers and we will do it a little different tonight....we are gonna continue where we left off last time....listening too those songs with intro´s you will not forget in a lifetime ....guess that the 90´s can claim those as it really was the thing in those years.
But they didn´t use Diesel...they didn´t use gas...they went all out on cake and Jelly....that is the secret for everything 90´s...just use jelly. What ever you do Jelly is the answer and the flaming lips captured that perfectly.
Lol, you should not believe a single word I write...or maybe all the words, or maybe I do not know myself what to believe...because one thing is for sure in this world and that is that everybody is a freaking liar and the posies were right about that.
Aren´t we all little Liars? As Henry used to say I am liar...a liar ...I like to lie. This is another song...that for me is such a gem 90´s anthem....go play with you smells like teen spirit and Jeremy.....this was a real little Gem and omg how often did I play this cd single.
The next one is a very honest song released in 1990 and written & sung by Johnette Napolitano. In her book Rough Mix she mentions about her relationship with Marc Moreland of the band Wall of Voodoo, who would eventually die of kidney failure following a liver transplant. The song was written in a cab on the way to a photo studio in Philadelphia; it was the last vocal recorded on the album due to Napolitano's reluctance to record the lyrics, which were hard for her to deal with. It became their biggest hit... honesty is such a lonely word....
Everyone is so untrue
Is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you
Hit after hit in the eighties and this huge one in the 90´s so well deserved such an amazing song...that will not leave your mind for days. Of course, it´s also a great link to this next cover from another lump but very influential band, covering the most influential song of the 80´s...the song that kicked-off the MTV generation!
Let´s end this in that unique intro style.....this one could not be forgotten....this is just sick....this band is sick, but this song is the sickest....So thank you for listening and not sending me roses.....
Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism I have been wanting to do this for years....Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.
Hope you enjoyed this slightly confronting wave of amazing music and you still feel like joining me on the next trip as vol 11. of Midnight Gems is coming soon.
