MidNight Gems - Undiscovered, Underrated and Forgotten Songs vol.28 "Naked Truth Part 2"
For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing songs that might have slipped your mind....or never even reached your ears and tonight we will do it a little different again.
We will go completele Naked tonight live and unplugged...because in Part 1 of my Naked Truth I doubted which song to use from The Golden Earing and this next one just did not make the cut.....but probably this song is my absolute favorite.
It was sang by the guitarist and not the lead singer....which directly reminded me of this next song....I was there....This was amazing...but John was already very much doped up...and I think they all were.
This isn't about drugs....well what could do you plan to come down from.... Of course it isn´t you had to spin it to sell it Rosdale...but come on:
"It was written in the context of half regret, half celebration and just being objective about the situation of coming down from that high and dealing with those intense emotions."
And saying it was about your girlfriend....well that does not fly well with me
Remember this Kevin:
In Accidental Revolution: The Story of Grunge by Kyle Anderson, Kyle put it bluntly: "Stone Temple Pilots and Bush will both be remembered mostly as wannabes, though their frontmen will be remembered as a guy who took a lot of drugs [STP's Scott Weiland] and Gwen Stefani's husband, respectively."
Another psychotic voice on drugs ...and if he looks in the mirror he sees a she....has she always been there. Drugs are a bet with your mind, and Keith´s mind was dangerous....or was it the fear of Mina taking over and going sober.
But there is no need for apologies....Kurt absorbed all your & our sins. Could have been that Cobain was truly the reincarnation of the son or was he just a modern John Lennon....well I guess it does not matter as his legacy will remain for many decades to come.
There was one band I expected to reach Heaven before Kurt did...but Hell No...they were knocking on heavens door but God didn´t open the gates for the Gunners DuFF, Dizzy, Izzy, Matt, Slash and Axl all are still walking this earth as haven did not want them....just like the Rolling Stones still going strong (well almost, as they lost Brian Jones way too early).
So you had Nirvana & Pearl Jam.....the difference is very clear to me...my preference after so many years not so much. But as we were talking about drugs....one more name comes to mind. When this guy knocked on heaven's door the angels let him in straight away, as he already did his redemption 100X on earth.
Brett didn´t do it so bad in hindsight....he survived the Britt Pop gen and beat his addiction....although it was a Fruscanti story as he came very close to the edge of the abyss and he probably lay there on his stomach watching the down the deep steep cliffs of the utter darkness many times.....before choosing to remain on the Asphalt World and Consider Europe to be his playground once again.
Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism I have been wanting to do this for years....Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.
Hope you enjoyed this slightly confronting wave of amazing music and you still feel like joining me on the next trip as vol. 28 of Midnight Gems is coming soon.
