For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing songs & covers.
Tonight is gonna be sick dog....we are stepping into the wayyyy back machine and visit some of those songs that really made an impact on my childhood and teenage years.
We are gonna visit those crazy mf´s the parental warning stickers tried to keep you away from....but we all know the bigger the warning the better the song. Just saying tonight is not for the faint at heart, tonight no pussy music. Well that´s not totally true, but it will be a very different kind of pussy music.
So you´re warned, now put on that headset and start banging to this. I was just in my teens and I saw that guy with the clock....and I got hooked on the new jack shit.
1. Public Enemy - Don't Believe The Hype
Thank you Aerosmith for introducing me to walk this way...but I think these guys walked even better wearing there Adidas... this song was soo cool it did not even get a video.
2. My adidas-RUN-DMC
Run DMC and the Beasty Boys were blasting out of my boombox. Even when I was pre-high school I knew these guys were the new type of cool. That vinyl thingy on the turntable for the first time and hearing the beats on Rhymin & Stealin .....guess that waisted my musical taste for the rest of my life.
And how should my parents have known .....there was No Parental Warning Sticker yet...
3. Beastie Boys - Rhymin & Stealin
Okay, my taste developed over time and then the Judgement Night Soundtrack happened. I already got grungy alternative but this was giving me best of both worlds. Damn that audio cassette must have been in my walkman for years as I still know all the lyrics.
4. Pearl Jam & Cypress Hill - Real Thing
Damn that video....that´s what sold the Clan....the song was okay not completely my style, but that crazy video....being part of the MTV Gen had its perks.
5. Wu-Tang Clan - Gravel Pit
M was pretty fly for a white guy I must admit....also admitting to the fact that I listened to Vanilla Ice and actually liked some of his songs....but forgive me for being 14 years old and developing a taste for music. But this white guy ....was like Boom here he is and he never left my playlists.
6.Eminem & Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E - 911
Another Bam.... mama said knock you out type of Character, LL was probably the sweetest guy on the block saying I Need Love but he got worse over time.... I need love turned into Doin It and ....damn I did a striptease to that song...so as of now things are gonna get hotter....so parents hide your daughters.
7. LL Cool J - Doin it
It starts with needing love, then you get to doing it and all because deep down you are just a horny Teenager....knowing nothing about true love...but definitely listening to the way 2 Live Crew.
8. The 2 Live Crew - Me So Horny
And if you thought that was the real deal we got Ice T and Body Count with their Cop Killer song.....but on a night like this Cop Killer just won´t do...as it was all about PooSee let´s have a song about Dick and Dick seemed so nice at first glance...but when Dick turns evil you better take cover.

What the fluff are midnight gems?
Somewhere lost in time, trying to escape out of the rabbit hole back into the rat race there is a vacuum..... that´s the place where midnight gems are found.
My Midnight Gems will try to uncover & recover those beautiful songs that nobody ever noticed or might have been forgotten.
Who the fluff am I?
Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism. I have been wanting to do this for years....Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.
