Extended Homestay! I'm not in the best mood to write about my topic for Pride Month tonight and I won't push myself to compose about the topic because I know that I will not express my thoughts clearly. And so, I'm just going to share how my homestay got extended. I usually go back home during Friday afternoons from my boarding house to have my rest at home. And my schedule to go back to Camarines Sur is by monday morning since I have a class in the afternoon. My travel time going to Camarines Sur is only one and a half hours and I still have time to review and tidy up my space. The start of this week is different. It was announced that we don't have classes yesterday Monday. They did not tell us the reason. And so, my homestay got extended for one day. I was supposed to leave the house this morning and as I checked my phone, there was an announcement that we do not have classes today. We were just told to read our modules. It was a blessing in disguise that I read the message before I left the house since I was already dressing up that time. And since it was still early in the morning, I just laid down in bed and scrolled down on TikTok and after a while read some articles here. Today was also my friend's 21st birthday and we celebrated it at our other friend's house before they left for their duty. They are nursing students for your information. He treated us with some spaghetti, pancit, pizza and some soda. They left eventually after they ate and I was left together with my two friends. I really thought that we would catch up with our latest happenings in our life like the old times but it was different today. After we cleaned up the table, we went straight to my friend's bed and took a nap. Hahahahaha! Not so nakaka-young! I guess this is our new way of hanging out with each other --- sleeping. Lol! Tho I was also sleepy earlier and the bed was seducing me. We then ate the remaining food for our merienda with coffee for me and Milo drink for my friend. We hung out for a bit before we left and we even encountered bike problems. It was planned that my friend would drop me off using his bike but it was flat. We tried to add air to it but it failed. Fortunately, my friend came to the rescue and helped us deal with it. I finally got home around 8 pm and wondered why some of my family members were not at home. I asked Mom and she told me that they went to the town proper. They went to see what is on the market since tomorrow will be our town's fiesta. They went home with Jollibee as pasalubong but unfortunately, fried chicken was not available on the menu. Though I still enjoyed the burger and fries for dinner. These are the times that I missed about being at home. Being in my hometown. Seeing my family and friends and also enjoying good food. Life away from home is okay but still, it's different from what I am accustomed to. Anyways, this is how my extended homestay went. The 2 days of homestay got extended to 5 days! I still have one day left for my homestay since I don't have classes tomorrow and I'll be leaving early in the morning on Thursday to attend my classes. Author's Note: Trying to write to catch up with the articles and also to regain the money I spent from purchasing a lot of stuff for my boarding house. Just keeping it real guys. That Was A Hell Of A Week Moving away from home was difficult for me as I got attached to it already again. The night before I left was so hard to the point that I didn't have the energy to pack my things. It was like a series of packing and feeling the kick of the separation anxiety. Anyways, this isn't about the day before I left the house but my first week of living in my new place. I moved into my new place on Monday, June 13. My brother drove the car for me since I have a lot of things that I brought. My Lola and my little cousin tagged along. After they left, I set-up my things for a bit and attended my afternoon class in my department. And in the evening, my roommate Charl arrived. We were preparing for our dinner and placed the rice in the rice cooker. This is the part that my life messed up. I noticed that the rice cooker was not working after 20 minutes of being turned on. The water wasn't boiling. I don't know what was wrong with the rice cooker but I think it's because it wasn't used for a very long time. It was brand new but it was stocked. Fortunately, Ate Kat saved our night. She offered us to use her rice cooker in the meantime. I thought everything would be alright after we had dinner. We were already chilling and starting to study when the power turned off for about 10-15 minutes. It's the main red flag in the village that we lived in. The next day, I finally decided to buy a new rice cooker. I didn't want to add up to the stress and expenses in our household and I just used the money that was from my savings. I bought a new rice cooker for almost 700 pesos. Well, I wasn't really worried about the money. It's just that, I went to buy my groceries the day before and my budget was on the line already. I'm done dealing with my rice cooker problem and also bought some of the remaining stuff that I need for the room. And then a new problem came. I left my key inside my room. It was when we were going out to buy food. Fortunately, my classmate came to the rescue and opened my room using a carton. From then on, I never forgot my keys. With the academic stress and adjusting to my new environment is bad news that I received. I found out that my cats were relocated by my Dad. He brought my cats to his workplace for a reason that we have so many cats already. I didn't know what to feel when I heard the news. I felt so weak and powerless. I couldn't do anything because I was away from home. All I did was cry myself to sleep. That was a hell of a week for me, draining and financially challenging. Also, the week after, my allowance was reduced into half. I'm not complaining anymore since I saved money left from my original allowance. Author's Note: Now you know the reason why I wasn't that active on both platforms. I'm still adjusting to my new environment and trying to find time to write and interact with you guys. Anyways, thanks for reading this! Have a great week ahead of you. I am immensely grateful for your love and support, guys! Rusty wouldn't notice my work if it weren't for all of you. Thank you and God bless! 🥺💖
My Cousin Graduated College! *"You are one step away from finally reaching your dreams."* On June 23, my cousin Von graduated college with a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. All of us in the family are very proud of him, especially me since I have been with him almost half of his college life. My cousin was the one who pushed me in ways that can motivate me. Threatened me that he would pinch me in the side of my body if I fail my subject in Animal Production and giving me advice and learning materials that I can use. He was the one who guided me in my first months of my life in Lourdes Village and made sure that I would be okay. Tagged me along when he had a night out with friends and introduced me to Alpha Phi Phi which is their chat group. Von and his friends absorbed me into their group which is a blessing since I do not have friends in my department before. My cousin and I shared so many college memories together. We would go to Naga and he would tour me around so that I would not be lost if I went there alone. I can still remember our alarms during the morning when we had classes. It was so uncanny since both our alarms rang for almost 5 minutes. And so I am quite sad that they are leaving but also immensely happy since they have finally graduated college. Sad because I will not see them anymore in the corridors of our department and not going to be able to hang out with them. But also happy because they are one step closer to becoming what they dreamed of --- as veterinarians. I am the proudest because together with him are our two friends Kuya Deks and Ate Myka. They finished Doctor of Veterinary Medicine within 6 years which is rare in our department. They were actually considered as the DVM of our department --- Dexter, Von, and Myka. Really smart and nice people. We attended their graduation which was held in the open field of our university. Together with my former boardmates and some of our friends, we cheered for them upon walking up to the stage to receive their diplomas. We took some photos and left to attend Ate Myka's graduation party. Here is Chini. Ate Myka's furbaby who is a shih tzu. She's also wearing a customized toga. Such a cutie! Passing the board exam will be their last step to finally becoming Veterinarians. Their one great dream in their lives and to help animals. The one on the left was our roomie, who is a licensed veterinarian now. Nakapa-graduate na ako ng dalawang roomie! May dalawang doctor na ako. 🥺💗 A message to the graduates: Hooray! You are one step closer to becoming what you really want in life. A new journey to take and a new life to live. May you all succeed in your fields and achieve all of the great things that you dreamed of. Do not also forget all of the great people that have been part of your college journey. Rest for a bit and good luck on taking your board exams! God bless you all, Batch 2022! 🎓🥳 Author's Note: Hey beautiful people! I missed you all. I have been battling with my personal problems these past few days kaya I wasn't able to interact in both platforms. I was also busy with my midyear class and exams. The Young Eagle Is About To Leave The Nest Once Again Young birds need to be taken care of by their parents. Need to be taught how to fly and guided accordingly. Birds so young need to stay in the nest for quite a time until they are already ready and spread their wings to leave the nest. Just like a bird, I consider myself as a young eagle who is now ready to take on the world yet afraid and sad at the same time. With hesitations and fear to take on the world on my own. I am talking about leaving my house again, or in what is the nest of birds. My summer vacation officially ends now and I have yet to leave the nest once again. Why do I say that I have yet to leave the nest once again? Before, I had already left my nest. The place where I grew up and where I was nourished by guidance and care from the people around me. I just had to leave because of my studies. But because of the pandemic, I was able to go back to the nest once again and stayed a little longer. By this, I get attached and not wanting to leave the house again. The presence of the people around me is what I missed the most during the times that I wasn't home. Even though we aren't a family that is too close to each other, the fact that I don't see them in my surroundings saddens me. I know that I should get used to this because I have to take my own flight. That I have to take myself on my greatest adventures and to make my dreams come true and that I cannot do it on the nest itself. I was happy during my one week vacation. I get to spend my time at home and with my friends. In fact, it is one of the reasons why I do not want to leave anymore. I got so attached to the feeling of being happy again with them that I don't think I can experience this with other people. But here comes Monday, the day where academic life starts once again. Also a day when I eventually leave my nest and settle down to a place where I can consider as my home. A place where I can be fully responsible for my actions and what my life would turn out to be. Now is the time where my life would depend on my actions. The way I do things will greatly impact what is going to happen on the next day. And with this great adventure, I just hope that it all goes well just like a young eagle tries to fly out of its nest for the very first time. I would take this opportunity to take on a flight to reach my dreams. To what I aspire to be. Just like how an eagle soars in the sky. Fast but has a reserved energy to take on its next flight. To be seen by the people around me to grow in an environment that I can flourish and to make myself and them all proud is what I want on this adventurous flight. Author's Note: I just got from my rest from packing my clothes as of the time that I was writing this. It is sad and the separation anxiety is slowly crippling in. But I had to leave for what will be the best for me. Thank you for reading this. I hope you had a great weekend and have great days ahead of you! Check out my previous blogs! Failed Attempt | A little bit of shopping | Celebrating my brother's birthday Failed Attempt | A little bit of shopping | Celebrating my brother's birthday Today is not the most productive day for me as I wasn't able to fulfill the task that I wanted to do. They say, third time's a charm but I don't believe in it. I was in the hopes of getting my booster shot this morning but still failed to have it. I woke up early to go to the RHU here in my town to get my booster shot. I was even running late and didn't take a bath anymore. I just washed my face and readied myself. They conduct vaccinations during Tuesdays and Thursdays only in the morning. And as I went there, I was told that the vaccination was moved to the mall that was located also in the town. I didn't bother to go there anymore because I thought that they weren't conducting booster shots since they usually conduct vaccinations for the first and second dose out of their office. I was tired already of trying to get that booster shot. I went there thrice but wasn't able to get there and so, I am giving up. Although, I still wanted to get it but I think I would get it in a different town since the RHU in my town is too problematic. Leaving there, I just took it as a sign to not get the booster shot anymore since my Mom also doesn't want us to get it. It's just me who really wanted it. For my sanity and peace of mind. I just comforted myself by purchasing my favorite pandesal in the local bakery and headed to the mall to buy the things that I need for my boarding house. I went to three establishments to look for my bathroom essentials but ended up buying it in the LCC Department Store. I also went looking for a non-stick pan that I can use in my boarding house. God, it is just so expensive. That shopping made me realize how expensive it is to live life. That we cannot really live by not spending too much. It was already lunch time and I decided to go home. I munched into the pandesal that I bought and I just slept this afternoon out of frustration. I was also surprised that there is a limit to buying coke in the supermarket. There was a sign that said that only 3 cans of coke is allowed to be purchased by each customer. Though I wasn't shocked anymore by what I read since there is an insufficient stock of coke in the market. I know that because everytime that I go to a sari-sari store, the seller would always tell me that it is out of stock and that they have been trying to order from their supplier. Any of you who knows why this is happening? We also celebrated my brother's birthday. He is the youngest among us five siblings. I think he turned 15 or 16 today. My Mom made spaghetti and bought chiffon cake. It's the usual handa in our household whenever we celebrate birthdays. We also drank coke with it. Final thoughts 💬 Today wasn't the day for me since I did not meet that one important thing that I have to get --- booster shot. But it's all fine now. I just needed to vent out since I'm really pissed at them. I was just disappointed because today was the last chance that I would get that shot since it's also my last week of staying here in the house. Next would not be the same anymore since my last summer vacation has already ended. Anyways, thank you for reading this. Have a great weekend ahead of you! Check out my other blogs! What's In My Bag Challenge: Face to face classes edition! I had this idea a long time ago that I would be writing a blog about this but I never got the chance as to other ideas that I had. It was because of my busy schedule with school. But worry no more because I am already here, writing about this now. Do you still remember what you usually packed before during the old normal when classes are still in a normal state? What were the contents of your bag? Are you a light packer or a heavy one? Because I am one of the people that would usually pack a lot. Sigurista ba. I wouldn't want to forget anything or in some emergency cases, I can have something to use. My bag has three compartments. Two of which are for the small items to put and the other one is for the bigger things. My bag is quite big, I would say medium sized and it can fit a lot. As far as I can remember, It is by the brand Milanos and I bought it two years ago and up to this day, I still use it. I'm not going to make this introduction long anymore. Without further ado, let's get started! Rosary I opted to list this first because I think that it is something that one should have. This was a gift from my friend. She gave it to me before we went to college. I would hang this in the wall of my boarding house before but now, I would usually put this inside my bag. I love seeing this because I feel protected. I am not the most religious person out there but this means a lot to me. Also because this is a gift from my friend. Hair comb and Petroleum jelly These are my personal things that I used to groom myself. Sometimes I am in a hurry that I forget to comb my hair and so, having this hair comb in my bag is essential to make me look presentable to other people. Also, I generally have dry skin. I used petroleum jelly to moisten my chapped lips and some of the bruises that I have. Face mask and Face mask holder/lanyard We wear facemasks all the time during our laboratory classes. It is to help us keep safe from the virus and from the chemicals that we are using. I have small ears and sometimes it hurts to wear a KN95 mask for a long time and sometimes I get bruises at the back of my ears. The face mask holder/lanyard is something that I use to tighten the mask on my face and for the strings of it to not touch my ears. It is one of my life hacks. You must try it too! Alcohol I think most of us have this in our bags specially that we are going through a worldwide pandemic. As for me, I just reused the old spray bottle of the cologne and I refilled it with alcohol. This is essential for me, especially that I travel going back and forth from my home to school. School ID This is one thing that I should not forget about. Although it is not strict in our department to wear our school ID, it is still essential for me since I get student discounts when traveling. Ballpens and Correction Tape Of course, my bag isn't complete with my school essentials. I bring different colors of pens every time because I used some of it when reviewing and the color blue is something that shouldn't be missing in my bag because that's what we use during exams. They implemented using color blue ballpens when our university got ISO certified. I also have a correction tape to correct all my mistakes in life. Char! My erasures. Hahaha! Earphones I wouldn't want to forget my earphones. It is something that I should have every time when traveling. It keeps me awake in the morning and keeps me entertained on the bus. Plus I wouldn't want my seatmate to hear what I was listening to. Excuse my earphones for being like that, I know some of us here have the same situation. Lol. Gloves Gloves are important during laboratory classes when handling our specimens. We wouldn't want to smell like our specimens after our class. Also, it is to ensure our skin does not get burned by the chemicals. I usually have 2-3 pairs of gloves in my bag since it is not avoidable for the gloves to not get ripped or damaged while in the class. Eyeglasses I have a blurry vision and by that I have to use eyeglasses. Although I don't really experience having a blurry vision every time, I still bring it with me. There are instances especially when late afternoon to early evening where my vision is starting to get blurry. That's the time when I use my eyeglasses. Wallets I have two wallets with me but sometimes I forget the other one. I have a big wallet where I put my cards and cash and a coin purse where I put my coins. I usually forget to bring my coin purse all the time since I also use it when going out. It is just a hassle for me to bring a big one also because I'm afraid of snatchers. Dissecting Kit This is one of our requirements for our laboratory classes. We use it to dissect and transect muscles of our specimens. However, we didn't use all of the tools that were included in this dissecting kit. Laboratory Gown Of course, every laboratory class or if not all, some requires to have a laboratory gown. This helps our clothes not to get dirty when we are dealing with our specimen. I also wipe my hands in my laboratory gown. Hahaha! Cap and Umbrella Why do I have to bring a cap and an umbrella? It's because I don't usually use my umbrella. Sometimes I would just wear my cap when it is not too hot and when it is just drizzling. I just use my umbrella when the heat of the sun is unbearable and when it is raining. Water Bottle and Lunchbox I wouldn't want to go to school dehydrated and hungry so I brought my own water bottle and food. This also helps me to save money and to not buy drinks to quench my thirst. However, sometimes I can't control myself and I would still buy soda. I sometimes buy viand for my lunch because it is too early to prepare in the morning. Yellow Paper I bring this with me all the time for my note taking and when I take exams. Clipboard This is very helpful for me because this is where I put my handouts so that it will not be damaged or crumpled when I travel. Anatomy Book This I think is a blessing for me because this has helped me so much with anatomy 1. My friend Agatha lent this book to me so that I can use it in class and when I am reviewing. I am fortunate enough because not all of us have books and it saved me money from purchasing one. I think I am the third person to use this book and I am so lucky to be able to. Extra Shirt I always bring an extra shirt to change after class since I am a very sweaty person and I don't like the feeling of being sticky. I was not particular to where I put these things since sometimes I am too tired of arranging it. I think it is normal for us students to have a messy bag. What about you? What are the things that you usually have in your bag? Anyways, thank you for reading this! Check out my previous blogs! Life Is Starting To Feel The Same Way Again Life is starting to feel the same way again. It feels great to be able to say these words again after having to go through several burnout and depressing episodes over my studies. Yesterday was the day that I never thought that I would be needing. It was filled with joy and laughter with some of my friends. And so I think you have already guessed what is the topic for today --- yesterday's whereabouts. We were invited by our friend to go to their house and eat because it's their barangay's Santa Cruzan. They served us good food and filled our tummies. We decided to go to their other house on the mountains after. It was just 5 minutes away from their house riding a motorcycle. Going there we saw their barangay from above, it was a great view plus we were breathing fresh air. Their house there is like the usual Bahay Kubo where his parents stay. It was surrounded by greenery and they also took care of different animals. We brought drinks and food there for our happy hours. They also have these table pools that we used to entertain ourselves other than each other's company. It was too funny because I always lost the game and the consequence is that I get to be "pitik" on my forehead. Also, we were all laughing because I was avoiding them to hit my pimple. We stayed there for a good 3 hours before heading home. It also rained that afternoon, which made the mood so relaxing. It was not my first time going there but it still feels like it was my first. I like the place because it is so peaceful and there is no noise pollution. The only noise that you can hear are the animals' sounds and the radio. We then walked down because some of our friends that had motorcycles were first to leave the place and the rest of us agreed to stay a bit longer. It was still drizzling but it was okay, the feel of the air in our skins is refreshing to feel. On our way down, we still continued drinking because there were still leftovers and we didn't want to waste it. Our friends and I didn't get drunk and it's okay. What matters the most is the valuable time that we have spent and the meaningful conversations that we had. We enjoyed it and that is all that matters. And so I can really say that my life is starting to feel the same way again. We headed to my friend's house again and ate an early dinner. It was so good. Afterwards, we went to the elementary school that was just near and we continued chatting to each other. We finally went home at around 6:20 pm and waited for a tricycle to arrive. It was indeed a meaningful day and it is one for the books. I've never been that happy for so long. **Author's Note:** I've been really taking my time now to enjoy the rest of my summer vacation. I only have one week till I move into my boarding house. Thank you for reading this! Check out my other blogs! Here's What You Should Look For In A Boarding House/Dorm The world is slowly getting to its old normal after two years of dealing with this pandemic and schools are already opening their doors to its students. The Philippines is one of the countries that have the longest lockdown in the entire world and gladly, it is slowly getting back to normal and continuing with its normal operations. I have published yesterday that I looked for a boarding house. You can read it here. And I am writing this article to be a guide for the first timers that are planning to board. https://read.cash/@WanderingMedStudent/a-problem-has-been-solved-today-405cec64 Here are some of the key pointers that you should look for a boarding house: Budget Location Water Internet Connection Security Budget The amount of budget that you have will determine the room that you are going to occupy. Different dorms/boarding houses have different things to offer. Some have complete amenities and some do not. If you are looking for a room that has a bathroom inside, expect that it will cost much. Most of the rooms that are cheap are the ones that have shared bathrooms. Also, the price of the room also depends on whether you want to occupy it alone or with someone. Again, it still differs. Some boarding houses have rooms that are for solo occupancy and for sharing. The price of it will depend upon the number of beds. You're lucky if your monthly bills already cover your rent and for the amenities. Because some boarding houses have different fees for amenities and some have it paid separately. Location Check if the boarding house is in a good location. Ask what establishments it is near and if it's just near your school. Also, don't forget to ask if the neighborhood is a safe place to stay in and if it's quiet. You don't want to hear the neighbors' noises while you are reviewing or resting. The location is also part of your budgeting. It is best if your place is just near the school to lessen your budget in commuting. Remember that you are renting for the reason that you don't want any more hassle and you want to save a lot of time compared to other people that stay in farther places. Ask if the place is safe when it is raining. You don't want to stay in a place where it gets flooded when it is raining or during typhoons. It is also to ensure that your things are safe when you are away. Water Water as we all know is essential for our everyday living. Hence, it is a problem for some people. Check if the water in the place is readily available at all times. You don't want to go to school with soapy skin. Water in some places runs out specially during rush hours and it is one of the common problems that students face everyday. This is where the location comes in, the higher the population of the place, the weaker the water will be. But I'm not saying that this happens in all of the places, this just happens in some. I just want you to take note of it so that you are not going to encounter water problems. Internet Connection You are away from home and most probably you wouldn't bring a television with you in your dorm room and your main outlet of entertainment would be using your phone or laptop that requires internet connection. It is best if you find a dorm that has this because in some areas, data signals are too weak to even access messaging apps. You can also have an option of putting up an internet connection and sharing the bill with other occupants. Again, this is very important especially now that there are just a few subjects that require face-to-face classes and the others are still conducted online. Security Is the place safe? Is it gated? You don't want burglars in your place. This is the reality when boarding. You are not guaranteed full security yet you can make sure that you could at least stay in a place where it is safe. Find a place where it is near establishments or has neighbors, burglars don't enter in most places that are crowded. A few neighbors will also serve as your security. There are also boarding houses that have CCTV cameras throughout the place and some even have a security guard. Security should always be on the top priority. Final thoughts 💬 These are just the key pointers that I look for in a boarding house. I hope that this will help you find your future place that can be your home away from home. You can also ask other people whether it is a nice place to stay. Do not also forget to ask if the landlord is nice. Hihi. If you have other things to add, you can comment below. You might help someone just by commenting. Thank you for reading this! A Problem Has Been Solved Today Can someone bring me a calendar and tell me that it's already the second day of June today? Ugh! Time really flew so fast. It feels like I'm an actor that has a fast-paced life. Anyways, I just wanted to share what happened today and what problem that has been resolved. It was announced not later this year that we are going to have midyear classes to catch up with our subjects. And as for me who travels to school every time I have classes, it's a problem. Problem because of the inconveniences of waking up early in the morning, fare, food, and for the time that is being wasted every time that I travel going to school. My place is one and a half hours away from school and it's such a hassle for me. Even though I already tried commuting and I got used to it already, it's something that I wouldn't want to continue. We have four days of classes this midyear and it requires going to my department to attend laboratory classes. And by that, I thought of settling down in the village near my department and a room that is affordable and can be my home away from home. I was with my classmate Charl this afternoon and we went looking for boarding houses. Actually, I already found a boarding house prior to today. It was the adjacent room to my classmate's room. She informed me that it was still available. It was nice but it has some red flags and so I insisted on looking for other options. We checked two boarding houses today and it already includes the other one that has some minimal red flags. The first one that we took a look at is in the same village. The rates are affordable but the room doesn't feel like it's a room. It's just a plain room that looks so humid and they use padlocks for each door. I didn't like it because of the padlocks. I know it can be easily accessed just by hammering it. And the place really doesn't look like a room at all. Although the price can be deceiving, I know for a fact that I wouldn't enjoy staying there. There are also rules in there that it feels like a dorm. The curfew is at 9 pm and visitors are not allowed. There is no submeter for each room and we have to pay for every appliance that we are going to bring, not including the generalized electrical fee for all the occupants. It was also mentioned that they have surprise inspections of every room that made me uncomfortable. One thing that made me decide not to go there was the internet. Only one gadget is allowed to connect to the internet even if I am going to pay for the right amount. The landlady told us that if we have two gadgets, the other one will be blocked. Also it's not really affordable. They have Piso net but if we are going to use the internet for a month, it would cost us 400 pesos. We then decided to check out the room that was adjacent to my classmate's room. We were greeted by the Aunt of the owner of the boarding house which was very nice and owns a carinderia in front of the property. The room cost two thousand pesos and it's already affordable for me. It has nice communal bathrooms, terrace, kitchen, rooftop, internet connection, and the room is quite big. The floors were also tiles which I like very much. I mentioned earlier that it has some red flags. The room that I like is on the second floor of the building. There is an available comfort room but it's not functional as the water does not reach the second floor. The room also has no source of ventilation as the windows were removed and replaced by a plywood to seal the room. My classmate told me that it was sealed by a plywood because the previous occupant put an aircon in the room. There was also a stock room inside the room that made the room feel small. I got to talk to the owner via video call this afternoon and he agreed that he can get the windows fixed. I also told him that I want the partition inside the room to be removed. The partition is not an issue for me if I will just be the one to occupy the room but we needed space because there will be two of us that are going to use the room. The owner was nice and I think that I can get along with him plus I found out that they are not really strict with their occupants. I was close to going back to my previous boarding house earlier as I was too stressed already because the classes were initially announced to start by next week. I told my friends that I no longer want stressors and it would be convenient for me to just go back. But one thing that I did not like in my previous boarding house was the room itself. Water leaks inside the room because the gutter roof has a problem. We have raised the concern to the owners and they didn't even do something about it. That's why I do not want to go back there anymore even if I have friends there. I'm just really glad that I got to solve a problem today. Now, I can enjoy my 11 days of summer vacation before I finally move into my new boarding house. Author's Note: 11 days of summer vacation also means catching up with the writing prompts that I missed, writing the ideas in my mind, upvoting and commenting on your works. Hooray! I'm not going to promise that I will be that much active since I also want to enjoy my vacation but I am sure that I am going to allot time on noisecash and readcash again. What Really Happened In May An explanation and reason for my absence. Time flew so fast yet I feel like I am not ready for June to come. It feels like I didn't really live fully in the month of May. Last month was tiring yet some of the moments were lovely and some were down full. There were different happenings last month that I wanted to share but I didn't get the chance to, so this will serve as a summary yet I am still going to write on the subjects here with individual articles. I attended the Pink Rally and I am one of the 306,000 individuals. I know that the election is already over but I am just so glad that I get to participate in this event. I get to know more about my friends and their political stance. It was a tiring day but a fulfilling one. Looking at the pink sea of supporters over the internet just makes my heart flutter. Even if Vice-president Leni Robredo did not win, she still has plans after her 6 year term like the Angat Buhay Foundation that I know a lot of people can benefit from. I turned 22 I was supposed to write an article about this but I wasn't able to do so because of my busy schedule. It was just a simple celebration. I attended the mass together with my Lola and my Mom prepared some food. I had a lot of realizations before I turned 22 and I wanted to write something about it. Also, I will also be trying to include 22 facts about me that I think you will get to know me more. (Ehem, I am still accepting gifts. Maybe BCH? Just kidding. Hahaha!) My read.cash account turned 1 I am now one year into blogging, writing different blogs and articles in my own style. Of course, I will be writing an in-depth blog about this to express my gratitude towards all of your support and to the founders of this platform. I'm just very glad that even if I went missing for the past weeks here, some of you still lend your time to read and upvote my articles. Also, for not giving up on me. StuDYING This would be the main reason for my inactivity here. I got so busy to the point that I can't even go out of the house anymore and meet my friends. I was chasing deadlines over deadlines and at the same time reviewing for my exams. Last month was tiring for my academic life and I just have a few days to breathe again before I attend summer classes. I will be taking my last remaining summer free days to catch up with you guys and to write articles. Maybe you are wondering why I published this early. It's because I just got up from 8 hours of sleep and I am just really taking a rest before I take my exam this afternoon. Thank you all so much for supporting me and may this month be my comeback on this platform. I Miss Writing I can't remember the last time I published an article here and I don't know what it feels like. It's like the burning passion in me was gone because of the days or should I say weeks that I have been so busy. In those weeks of absences, I struggled. I tried my best to write something but the tiredness in me kicks in every time I try to compose something. I had so many topics to write about and so many events that I planned to share on this platform, but weeks have passed and I don't know how I am going to write about it. It feels like I have a ton of backlogs in writing articles and blogs as I have so many ideas running in my mind. Some of it has already been forgotten by me and some of it slips on my mind from time to time. I have so many drafts in my Google documents that I never get to finish because I always experience tiredness in the middle of writing. It feels so tiring and emptying that only free time from school is enough for me to take a full rest. I miss writing, really. I never thought I'd miss it so much that sometimes I forgot how to compose something in a way that I can really express myself. With all of the weeks that I was missing in action, I realized something. I realized that it's not all about just the money that I gain from writing. And that my education was and still will be the top tier priority. I may be sad sometimes because I do not get to earn money. But I know that I cannot balance two things especially when I am already too occupied. You may stumble upon my posts on noise.cash and notice that I am not that active as I was before and to be honest, I have a lot of photos to share but my body is telling me to take a rest and not push myself to the limits. I am avoiding not to get burnout in this long due process of schooling and one way is that I lessen the workload that I have. I have taken so many exams in the last weeks and I have yet to take exams next week. It's so tiring that I just wanted this semester to end. Maybe I am sharing this with all of you because I just want to have a quick escape from studying but most importantly, I am sharing or I am trying to write this for you guys to know that I am still here. That I will get back to writing again soon and we will get to exchange conversations through our comments. I miss you all and I hope you still remember me. The frustrated med student who tries to write as much as possible and your friend. I hope you are all doing well and I hope I can really get back to writing again. XOXO, WanderingMedStudent 💗
I Was Part Of The 306,000 Pink Individuals Election day is fast approaching and campaigning is still ongoing. We are two nights before the day we are going to vote for the right ones and in this blog, I just want to share what happened yesterday. I attended the miting de avance of Leni-Kiko and the rest of Tropang Angat in Naga City yesterday with my friends. It was already anticipated that around 300,000 individuals were going to attend the rally. Bicolanos from different provinces made an effort to attend that exceeded the expectations of the organizers. There were also individuals that are from Metro Manila. We left the village at around 9 am to go to Naga City. Most of us were wearing pink and had hints of the color in our clothing. We were very anxious the night before the rally because we were worried that we would not have a ride going there because of the amount of people that are going to attend. But fortunately, a bus of kakampinks passed by us and they let us ride the bus with them. We ran fast going to the bus and laughed hard because we weren't expecting that they would let us ride with them. The bus dropped us at the Robinson's Mall where they parked. We then rode a jeepney going to the centro and walked to the main stage. It was quite a walk and along our way, there were stalls on the side of the streets that were giving free lemonade and so we stopped by. We weren't really thirsty, we just wanted to drink. Hahahaha! A total kakampink experience! There are still many photo ops areas that are available. We had a picture in the infantry division that supports Leni-Kiko. We hopped on the vehicle that is used in war zones. I don't know what they call it but you can just see it in the photo. Hahahaha. Anyways, there was a man there who took our photo. He is so welcoming! We finally arrived at Magsaysay Avenue at around 11 am. There were already a lot of kakampinks that were present in the area. We didn't have a decent lunch because there were just so many people dining in and the restaurants could no longer accommodate us and so we had to eat at a burger shop. We then head out to the main road where we are settling down. We tried going near the stage with some of our friends but we got left behind because of the huge crowd. It's something that we are thankful for because it's just too hot. Maybe if I was there, I could've collapsed and was given medical care. My friends and I headed back to the Yellow Cab to meet with some of our friends and joined them. And there, we decided to just settle down in the middle. It was still too hot since we were on the roads. There were a lot of people that needed medical care. It was understable because of the heat. It's something that the people with weak bodies couldn't handle. There were a lot of free foods and bottled water that were for free. So many kakampinks are sharing what they made and we're roaming around to distribute it. As I can remember, I had a cookie and two puto. It was pink! Cute! The event was a blast. There were a lot of artists and local bands that were there to support the Tropang Angat. These are: Sharon Cuneta, Piolo Pascual, Ben & Ben, and many more. I can feel their sincerity in supporting the Leni-Kiko tandem. The meeting de avance ended at 10 pm but the party had just started. There were still performances after and some fireworks too! I just didn't want to take a lot of photos and I just really enjoyed the moment. All in all, the rally attendees were estimated at 306,000. More than what is expected. If only the venue is big, then, there are still going to be a lot of attendees. We were near the placards but we didn't know what it was. We only thought that it was a designated space for the medics to pass through. Attending a rally for me is something that we should do especially if we are fighting for the future of our country. Choosing the right leaders is what we should encourage everyone to do. The future is in our hands. We have to elect someone who can serve us, not control us. The future is female, and I believe that the next president is a woman. Leni Gerona Robredo is the next President of the Philippines. Kiko Pangilinan is the next Vice President of the Philippines. With all of the support, I am already claiming our victory! It was a tiring day but the happiness and fulfillments in our hearts is something that we are going to remember forever. I am one of the 306,000 individuals who attended the rally and I am a Filipino who wants a better future for this country. "Sa Gobyernong Tapat, Angat Buhay Lahat! I Made Oatmeal Pancakes Pancakes are one of the easy snacks to make. In fact, you can buy pancake mix in supermarkets. It can be eaten anytime of the day and some even eat it for their midnight snack. I woke up early today and decided to make myself some breakfast. Pancake is the first thing that came into my mind since I've researched yesterday about the ingredients of it. A simple pancake mixture is composed of flour, baking soda, sugar, water/milk, and sometimes egg. Since I do not have flour in the house and I wanted to have a "healthy pancake" I decided to use oatmeal and pulverized it using my portable blender. Also, I used water for my pancake batter. Here are the ingredients for my "healthy pancake": Oatmeal Bananas Water Peanut butter Sugar I just used the ingredients that are readily available. First, I started to pulverize 2 cups of oatmeal using my blender. Next I added sugar to the mixture. Basically following the rule of mixing the dry ingredients first. Afterwards, I added one duck egg in the mixture. I then blended three bananas with peanut butter to it. The bananas that I used are super ripe already and it is perfect to be used for a pancake mix. Also, the peanut butter is homemade. Finally, I mixed it all together in a bowl using a wire whisk. Grading the oatmeal pancake that I made would be 10/10. Of course, I'm going to be biased because it's my cooking. LoL. But it's really good and flavorful. However, the texture is not as good as the regular pancakes also because I used oatmeal as flour. Also, sometimes the inner part of pancakes are not well cooked, it wasn't my concern with this batter. Why? It's because the batter itself can be eaten already. This is just an easy breakfast meal that you can change the proportions of the ingredients based on your liking. You can also add more sweeteners if you want it to be more sweet. I consider this as a healthy pancake since oats are considered one of the healthiest grains. However, one should be mindful of what to add on their oatmeals if they want to lose weight. For example, peanut butter and chocolate chips promote weight gain. I am not an expert in cooking, I just really like to cook sometimes and my food is based on my liking. If you have suggestions or corrections on how I made this food, you can write it up in the comment section. I am very much open to learning new things. Share with us also your go-to healthy food! La Terraza, The Restaurant Down The Hill Hey folks! I just want to share what happened today. I woke up with a message from my friend asking if we were around her area which is in Ligao City. She then told us that she misses us and asked us out to eat. I responded that I was available since I don't have afternoon class. The place where she's at is just two towns away from me and it is just one jeepney/bus ride. I rode the bus since there were still no passengers in the jeepney when I passed by and it would be a waste of time waiting for the other passengers before the jeep leaves the terminal. As I've said on my noisecash post, the bus was on the side of the road 5 minutes before leaving. I didn't mind because it's just a 15-20 minutes travel time going there. The place where she's at is not on the main road so I rode a tricycle there. The place is nice, it looks like a European place to me. Though I have seen it before but only outside of the restaurant. It was big and it was a classy place to be at. My friend was like the owner of the place because the staff knows the place. She just instructed me to let the staff call her when I got there and so I did. We ordered a couple of food and had a nice chit chat though it was just a short time because I arrived there at 3 pm. I had to wash the dishes first before leaving because it was an eyesore for me. Halo-halo with lambanog This was the first time that I've tried this kind of halo-halo. Weird at first but it tastes like the usual, just not that sweet because of the lambanog. It was overflowing to the point that I couldn't even mix it. Empanada These are so good! I had two empanadas since my friend was on a diet. Hahahaha! It was so flavorful and the crust was so delicious! Pancit Sisig If you haven't tried eating pancit sisig then why? This too, is so good! The one we ordered was for three people but I ended up eating almost all of it because my friend was on a diet. I didn't want to waste food so I just ate all of it. We then had a walk after eating and went out of the restaurant. The place was near the church and we roamed around outside. It was peaceful and there were some tourists. And oh, before I forget to say, the place was near Kawa-kawa hill. A famous place to have picnics and also to pray. There were flowers outside and the landscape was pretty good. I did not let it pass and took photos of it. It was also windy. We headed back to the restaurant and she toured me in the building. She plans to have a coffee shop on the rooftop. Although there is still a lot of work to do, I can tell that it will turn out beautiful also because of the location. I then head back home because it's getting dark. Funny to think and ironic because my other friend and I were talking about her yesterday about her well-being and today, I get to be with her. I insisted on sharing the bill but she didn't let me. She told me that it was her treat. I just want to say that it is not a requirement to always have interaction with your friends. What matters the most is that even if you're far away from each other or not have seen each other for a long time, what matters the most is how you see each other as still friends. I'm ending this blog by sharing also this photo of the coffee that I just drank. Thanks for reading! I Know These Aren't Going To Be The Last Hey guys! I'm going to share in this blog the things that I bought during the Payday sale last April 15. All of my orders arrived last week and I am writing this to justify my spendings. Lol! I have been ordering online since the start of this pandemic and I must say that almost everything that I ordered was put into use and is currently being used. I'm not really that type of person who buys cute stuff online that aren't functional. No offensement to those who are, it's just not my thing. Hihi. In this Payday sale, I bought some of the things that I need and the things that I've been really eyeing for the longest time, to be frank, my so-called "wants". Though I can really use it on a daily basis and whenever I want to make something. So, without further ado, I'll get started! Tyeso Tumbler and Tumbler Holder I have been eyeing this item for the longest time. It's all over TikTok and I've watched a lot of reviews of it already. Also, I've already used it since it arrived first in all of my orders. I bought the 890 ml Tyeso tumbler in the color green. It's quite pricey but I think it's still affordable and also an investment piece. I paid 343 pesos for the tumbler and 49 pesos for the tumbler holder. All in all, I paid 402 pesos including shipping. I am happy with this purchase because I can use it going to school and drink coffee or any drink from it. Plus since it is an insulated tumbler, it keeps the drinks warm or cold. It claims that it can keep the liquid hot and cold for about 3-6 hours according to the shop where I bought it. But some say that it can last up to 8-12 hours depending on whether the drink is hot or cold. But I must say that it really works. On the other hand, I opted to buy a tumbler holder because it looks cute with it. Hahahaha kidding! I bring a lot of stuff to school and sometimes there is no space for a tumbler. So, I just bought a holder so that I can just carry the tumbler. All in all, I can consider these two items as a want and a need. Portable Blender/ Juicer Now, this is a want. I've been wanting this for the longest time. I just don't allot a budget for this for no reason. Hahahaha. The turning point where I decided to buy this was when I was at my friend's house. We were using his blender and I told myself and they also told me that if I really wanted one, then, I should buy it and so I did. Hahahaha. The one that I ordered was from the brand Kaisa Villa. It is a rechargeable portable blender. It's not that big but I can be patient with it especially when I am making cucumber-lemonade. Ahh, I am so excited to make some juice! This is also affordable because I only paid 259 for this. I've tried washing it already and as per the reviews, it can crush ice. This is definitely a good buy! Facial Cream This is a need. My skin dries after using my facial wash and when it is cold. The one that I purchased was the one that I've been using for the past months, it's the Illiyoon Ceramide Cream. I like this because it adds a protective skin barrier and it's also for anti-aging. This is a Korean product by the way. This is quite expensive but also a good product. I paid 445 pesos for it and it's already 200 ml. I don't mind paying for its price because it has a lot of content. The last one lasted me for about 4-5 months. Also, I've decided to buy it again since it was also prescribed to me by my dermatologist. Final thoughts 💭 That's all that I've purchased. Just a few items but the prices are enraging. Hahahaha! Let us not compute the price inorder for us to not be stressed about it. Anyways, I am happy with all of my purchases and I know that these are not going to be the last. I still have so many items on my cart. What about you, what are your Payday sale purchases or what is/are your recent online purchase? Share it in the comment section. Thank you all for reading this! A Day In The Laboratory Last week, Thursday, I helped my cousin with his thesis study. He is a 6th year Veterinary Medicine Student and is conducting a study about Crabs. It's his final requirement for graduation. As far as I can remember, his study is all about finding out if there are parasites in the crabs in different municipalities. There are I think 4 or 5 municipalities that are part of the study. The steps of finding out is via microscope and the crabs were needed to be dissected to get the specimen. Actually, I had a class in the morning so I was present in the area, so I didn't go home first. My cousin then asked me to help him out. I had an online class that time but I didn't attend because I was lazy. Hahahaha. I was the one who was in charge of dissecting the crabs and my cousin was the one inspecting the specimens. The whole process of dissecting and viewing in the microscope is tiresome. One crab takes me at least 5 minutes to dissect and put in different slides. I only dissected 7-8 crabs since my cousin had already started with the others a day before. Aside from the exhaustion, the smell is also so strong. It smells fishy in the entire room. The people passing by the room can even smell it. It started raining in the middle of our work and it made us feel sleepy and really tired. At that time I just wanted to rest and lie down in bed. We worked for 4 hours non stop until we finished the first set of crabs. All I can say is that it is very tiring and exhausting. I even told my cousin that as if I was the one who is doing the study because my tiredness compared to his was 100/10. I salute my cousin for his work and efforts in doing this study. We only did one municipality that day and it required 20 crab specimens. Can you just imagine the work behind his study? Oh gosh, I don't want to imagine it anymore. I will just feel so tired. Hahahaha. I am always in support of my cousin, it's the least that I can give him. In fact, I was the one bringing crabs for him sometimes. We left the laboratory at 5:30 pm and headed to his dorm. I was going to have a sleepover there but it didn't push through since there are still buses that I can ride home. Plus, I didn't have anything to do there. It's more comfortable sleeping here. If you can remember my noisecash post from last Thursday, it says that I had a fun day. It really was fun and it gave me hope for reaching my dreams. I wouldn't mind smelling fishy if it helps me get the drive to finish this degree. At this point, I was motivated to have an extra push. That's all for today's blog. Thank you for reading! Have a great day ahead of you! I Still Talk To Strangers Even If I Was Told Not To Earlier this morning I had a different encounter while waiting for my bus ride. A man came straight to me and he asked if he could ride the bus with me and I cheerfully said yes. I thought he was just intimidated by my presence and was hesitant to hop on to the same bus with me. He then clarified to me that he was asking me to pay for his fair because the truck that he was riding left without him. And his phone and wallet was in there. I paused for a minute and eventually said yes. I don't know but I didn't hesitate to help him. I was just really open to helping. I asked him where he lives and he told me that he lives in Naga City, the same direction going to my school. I was about to send money to my bank account to withdraw cash for our fair and he said that he will just be going to SM Legazpi City where their truck was enroute. And so, I just gave him 100 pesos ($2) for the bus fair going there. It was just one ride since the terminal is infront of the mall. After I gave him money, I was surprised that he was asking for an additional 100 pesos. I then told him that it is the highest money that I can give since my Mom only gave me ample money for my budget today. He told me that he is going to pay me and look for me in our department but I told him that it's okay and he shouldn't do that anymore. I then told my friends what happened and one of them told me that what if the guy was just lying to me. I told her that I know my place and there have been no reports of someone doing it. Also, if he really lied, then pity him. I can just earn the money that I gave him but the fact that he lied in front of my face will never be erased. It would also kept on resurfacing to his soul that he makes a living by lying to other people. My other friend also told me that it's like a Wattpad story. Why not? Hahahaha he might find me someday and he can be a rich man that could give me some of his properties. LoL my imagination. It's so ironic how I got free fair last Tuesday because of my friend. The bus conductor knows her and he didn't let us pay. I usually pay 100 pesos for the regular buses and the money that I saved that day was used in a good way. It made me help another person who is in need of help. I'm actually thinking that maybe God is using me to do good things? Hmmm. Nevertheless, I am grateful that I get to help other people in the ways that I can. And I am very much willing to be God's prophet just to help other people. I shared this with all of you not to boast what I did but to tell you that you can always help other people in your many ways. Indeed, God moves in mysterious ways. Also, this is just a reminder that you can always talk to other people who seems stranger to you and you can always have a boundary. Who knows, you might help someone one day and you might be that one who is a stranger to someone else. Author's Note: This is all for today guys. One Hour Of Shopping And It Made Me Feel Sick Yesterday, I finally went to the mall to buy the one thing that I needed to buy because of this weather. I decided to buy an electric fan because I have been complaining about how it is so hot in our room. It's because I'm living in a house that is made from concrete and the temperature goes too high when it gets too hot outside. It literally absorbs the heat coming from the outside. I have decided to purchase one because the hot weather is messing up with how I function. I cannot finish a single activity where I need to do it inside my room because of the heat. Although there are also some places that I can go here in our house, my room is the most comfortable place that I can be. Also because it is usually quieter here since we have a toddler during the day that is in the other house. My money was so empty that I even asked my Lola to give me money for my fair. I don't usually have cash in my wallet unless there is some spare money that was left from the last time I withdrew. But I mostly ran out of cash for some reason. I headed to the bank first, upon stepping outside the tricycle I saw that it was offline. Meaning I can't withdraw money. Fortunately the bank was just near the mall. I went straight there because there is also an ATM there. I just didn't go there directly because the last time I went there was that it was unavailable. There was a queue when I arrived at the ATM located at the mall. The lady in front of me was taking a little longer and kept inserting her card. I found out when it was my turn that there was no money available in the ATM. It can do other services such as balance inquiry but not cash withdrawal. And so I went to the other bank outside the mall and I was finally able to withdraw money. I was just hesitant because there was an 18 pesos service charge. The total money that I had was 1,600 pesos. I went straight back to the mall again and looked for some electric fans. There were a few choices but I didn't really know what I wanted. I just looked for the affordable one and compared it to the others. I ended up buying the electric fan that is a Union Brand. It was on sale at that time. It was beside the other brand but I asked the salesman what is the difference between the two and he said that the one is fixed and cannot be adjusted and the other one which is the Union is adjustable. Here is Kuya, checking if the electric fan works. I have to make him test it. I have tried this brand before and so I went with it. It's just that, the one we had is not functioning. I think it's because we used it without rest. Anyways, I bought it for the price of 1,095 pesos. It was already on sale and I can totally say that this is such a great buy. The number 1 wind strength of this is comparable to the number 3 of what we used before I bought this. Although it's a different brand and is already old. Here is the model that I got. This picture is not mine. I just grabbed it on Google. Since I still have remaining money with me, I took the time to buy the things that I need. I bought an umbrella in the department store which cost 145 pesos, Tocino which cost at around 79 pesos, and also I bought a glass cleaner that is for 179.75 pesos. I didn't have an umbrella for the longest time and I took the days that were rainy as a reason to buy one. Also, we have tried to use a couple of cleaning agents before to our windows but it doesn't work and so I have to buy one. After an hour of walking around the mall, heading back home, attending a mass, and finally going back home again, I had a flu and experienced having some body aches. I know it's because of the things that I did that afternoon and also it was so hot when I went outside. I think my body is not used to walking long distances anymore and with hot weather. I spent almost all the money that I withdrew that afternoon and it's okay. But if this is adulting, then, I do not want it. Kidding! Thankfully we had medicines in here that helped me and after two hours I was feeling okay already. I also did not longer ask for any money from my parents because it was my personal wants and also needs. I just got the money from the BCH that I converted. So, thank you for reading, upvoting, commenting, and liking my articles! I don't really regret spending on things. What matters the most is that I can use it and it can give me comfort. Besides, having a comfortable headspace is better than just having money stored in a bank account. LoL. He Is Risen | Remembering Holy Week Traditions Pre-pandemic Time | Reflecting Holy Week is the time where we can reflect on our actions and our life. To restore our faith in God and to be humbled beings. This week has been for our dear Jesus Christ to whom is our savior and has done good deeds for humanity. Since our actions are limited due to this pandemic, let me write in this blog about our yearly traditions. Let us also remember that this is the third day when Jesus has risen. Pre-pandemic time we do our traditions. These are the Visita Iglesia or the visiting of different churches to pray and the Pabasa. Every year in pre-pandemic time we would go to different churches here in our region. Primarily here in Albay and in Camarines Sur. Each year we would switch provinces. I grew up doing this tradition thanks to my family. Although I didn't really like the idea of going to different places in my younger years, I just liked the idea of outings and eating out. When we were old enough, we were taught and given the chance to lead the prayer to every station. It was a nice feeling but also nerve-wracking since my family is watching. Visita Iglesia made me learn to appreciate the different architectures of Churches and learned their history. Also learned how to love and appreciate the sacrifice of our dear God. As for the Pabasa, it was being done in my Lola's house. Mama, the one who recently passed away. It started many years ago when her husband was still alive. She promised him to continue doing Pabasa during holy weeks. I can still remember that people that are from different barangays would come to their house to pray starting afternoon up until morning. It was like they were singing but in different languages. We were even scolded for making fun out of it. My cousin's and I just wanted to eat the food that was prepared for the ones who are praying. But because Mama already passed away, there is no Pabasa for this year. She told my Aunt that if she passes away, it would also mean that the Pabasa will stop. Also the reason why we are just doing it is to continue what her husband wanted. And I think she has done all that she can while she is still here with us. Also, I think that Mama wanted to stop doing Pabasa because it involves too much preparation for the activity. During this week I tried studying for my lessons, but I didn't succeed. Also because of the weather. But I took the time to reflect on myself. My friend and I, who stayed up until 2 after drinking, talked about life. How precious life is and was. We both lost loved ones in the previous years. I asked him if he ever doubted God and his ways and he said yes. He told me the reason. He couldn't understand it. I understand where he is coming from. It was from the pain that was caused by losing someone. The reality of never seeing them again. I talked to him and I said that maybe God is doing these to us because there is more to life. But he also added, "If there's more to our lives, then, why is it that we have to experience all of the pain?" And I didn't say a single word. I, too, was speechless. Just like in a garden setting, the beautiful flowers are the ones who are picked first. Although it doesn't mean that the ones who are left behind are bad ones. I just thought that maybe they have served their purpose in life. That they have touched other people in the ways that they can. And maybe, it was their time to leave those people behind because they are now ready. But talking about death, we discussed the loved ones who are left behind by the ones that passed away. The pain that they are experiencing. We talked about how an individual's end of life could affect others. Life is too precious. Just think of this, some of us have suffered from difficult times. Some of us came into the point that life is not worth living and it's just best to die. But we keep fighting. We keep breathing and I think it's amazing because it indicates that we can still have hope with our dear lives. That we should have to know the purpose of it. I have talked to God many times. Every night to be exact before I sleep. And sometimes in the middle of the day. We just need to talk to him and he is going to hear us out. God answered some of my prayers and wishes that I am so thankful for. We just have to also do our part in making our wishes and dreams come to life. We may experience a lot of difficult moments but just like Jesus Christ, we rose from it. We rise from every difficult situation that we experienced and that is one of the greatest gifts that was given to us by our Lord. May we always thank God for the things that we have now that we prayed before. And to be thankful for the sacrifices that he has made for us. Happy Easter, everyone! Thanks for reading this! I Gave My Uncle $100 About a week ago, my Mom, Lola, and my sister saw me cry. I broke down in front of them and I whaled. I couldn't take it anymore because of what is happening in my life and to the people around me. My Aunt messaged me saying that I should tell my dad to visit my Uncle. He is sick for months now and went for a couple of check ups already. My Aunt visited my Uncle last week evening and she told me his condition. My uncle lost weight and is looking pale. I told my Aunt that Papa wasn't around the time that she messaged me and he was still at work. The following message that my Aunt sent me was telling me to tell my Dad to go there and to see for himself the condition of my Uncle who is the eldest among them. Even my Aunt can't look at my Uncle for too long because she pities him and she avoids crying in front of him. My Uncle suddenly had lumps on his neck area. He works as a construction worker. He told us that it started to appear in November after they got rained on during working. He developed lumps on both sides of neck and tried to self medicate. After a few days of self medication the lumps subsided. It was my Grandfather's birthday when we saw each other again after so many months. I think I have already told this before in an article but my Grandpa was the one who noticed that my Uncle has lumps on his neck. I felt bad for not noticing it the whole time that we were talking and when we were still at home. We were telling him to get it checked out by a physician and he insisted. I know he was thinking about the money that he was going to spend. He was just a hard headed man and I understand why. The money that I gave him was from the educational assistance from the DSWD. We just needed to be on the list and bring the requirements as a proof that we are enrolled for the second semester. I really wanted to give my uncle a portion of the money even before that I haven't had it yet. I was planning to give him $20 and also tell my sister to give some of hers too. But the night I cried was the time we decided to just give all our money that we received. I went straight to my room the moment I got home. I put the money inside an envelope and gave it to my Dad for him to give it to my Uncle. I'm not going to be hypocritical, I have planned weeks before what I was going to do with that money. In fact, the time I went out with my friends to eat Korean barbecue was part of the budget allocation. And the rest will be put in my bank account to save up for the laptop that I've been eyeing to buy. Did I have regrets giving up the money that I received? No, not at all. I love my Uncle and I want him to live long. As my Mom would always tell us, money can be earned but a life can't be replaced. To be honest, all I am thinking now is that I was God's way of giving the money to my uncle. That I was just the messenger and I was just the prophet who passed the money to him. My uncle was already checked out by a Doctor last week and the update about the lumps was that it had subsided. He still needs to have several check ups in the future to monitor the lumps. Closing thoughts 💭 Why did I share this? It isn't to boast about the help that I've given my Uncle. But to give light to other people that a life is what matters the most than money. This is actually in my drafts for the past weeks. I just allowed myself to heal. This is also a way of telling you guys that it is okay to allow yourself to be humans. To feel emotions. The more you keep it inside, the more it will hurt. Thank you for reading this. We Are Not Living The Life That We Are Created For We are considered as stewards of nature. But how we live our lives now is the complete opposite. If you are not aware of the current issue, there were scientists that were arrested for peacefully protesting. They were sending the world a message that we only have a few years to live on this planet. Four years to be exact. I guess we never learned. Or some of us never learned. One great example for this is what we are experiencing now, a world wide pandemic. We have been warned before by a scientist that this can happen but it was ignored and we are suffering from its consequences. All of us are suffering from one's actions. We can feel the effects of climate change lingering in our skin. The heat of the sun, illnesses, typhoons, and other catastrophic events that were caused by climate change. When will we ever learn from our mistakes? Is it the time when it's too late to take action? Now, now is the time to take actions for what has and have been continuously done by our own kind. Deforestation, Pollution, and other things that cause all of this to happen. **#LetTheEarthBreathe** has trended on twitter and also has been circulating in many social media platforms. This is a great way to spread the issues. But this is not enough, sharing is not enough. We have to take action. As we have learned in the previous years of our education, we have been taught the 3Rs. And I am urging all of us that we should apply and do it to our day to day living. **Save energy**. This is the easiest way that you can do. For example, do not use your bathroom light when it's day time. The light coming from outside is enough for you to see. You do not need a lot of light just for you to use the bathroom. Of course, the people that are living in condos or other buildings that do not have access to light are exempted from this. There are still a lot of ways that you can reduce the consumption of energy. Take off the plugs of appliances that are not in use. We do not care about your electric bills, we care about how you can save energy and how it can help to save our planet. During my early years, in elementary grade to be exact, I didn't really care about taking care of the planet. I was loitering and I didn't care if I threw my garbage in the streets. I just learned the value of taking care of our planet the time I went to high school. To be exact, I was ignorant of the bad effects that can be caused to the environment. Awareness is a big factor that can help save our planet. What we can do is to teach by showing to others what we can do and to what we can benefit from doing the good deeds for the place that we live in. We still have hope. Our home still has a chance. Let's spread awareness of what is happening and we can still live old and the future generations can still experience living on this planet without having to use gadgets that can help them breathe or that will make them look like robots. I cannot do this alone but to what former Miss Earth Karen Ibasco said when asked during the top 4, with the question, "Who or what do you think is the biggest enemy of Mother Earth and why?" She answered, *"I believe that the real problem in this world is not climate change. The real problem is us because of our ignorance and apathy. What we have to do is to start changing our ways, to start recalibrating our minds and redirecting our steps because together, as a global community, our micro-efforts will have a macro-effect to help save our home, our planet."* We can eradicate the ignorance of others by showing and educating them. This is not just for the benefit of us human beings but also for the millions of species that we share this world with. It is vital for us that we are able to breathe and so is for our planet. Together, it is possible. #LetTheEarthBreathe You can also read @kli4d 's article here. It's about what you can do as an online shopper. He also indicated the places where you can donate your plastic wastes. https://read.cash/@kli4d/online-shoppers-do-your-part-in-saving-the-planet-3cb4dd4d Author's Note: It is in our hands to decide what choices we are going to make for our future. And so, We should choose our world leaders who truly care about our future lives. Thank you for reading this! I Froze On The First Day Of Class April 12, First Day Of Limited Face-to-face Classes I would like to share in this blog on how my first day of limited face-to-face classes turned out. It was raining that day until the afternoon. My class starts at 9 am. My mom dropped me off at the bus stop and we left the house at 7:30 in the morning. The travel time to school was around 1 hour to 1 ½ hours. I was fortunate enough to arrive at the bus stop with a bus waiting for passengers. After a few minutes of waiting, the bus eventually got on the road again. I brought bread with me that I ate on the bus. It was a hungry-travel for me. The travel time going to my town to the next bus stop was so fast. It was only around 20 minutes considering the distance. However, the bus driver waited for so long at the bus stop, making me late for class. The bus was on the side of the road for half an hour or more. I didn't anticipate that it would happen since it doesn't usually happen pre-pandemic. I was already 15 minutes late for class when I hopped out of the bus. I contacted my cousin because I needed to drop off my things before heading to the department. I rushed to the department and I saw some of my friends that greeted me. I was so glad to meet them again. I entered the room not knowing what to expect. So many unfamiliar faces. The class had not yet started and I wrote my name on the attendance sheet and wore my laboratory gown. I didn't know what to do and I didn't have the courage to talk to someone for the first few minutes. I was too overwhelmed. Anxious. And intimidated by my classmates. I had the courage to talk to my classmate to whom I first met that day but we have been talking in chat. I asked her where my group mates were and my group mates raised their hands. I froze as I sat on my chair facing them. I kept hugging my backpack as if it was my pillow. I didn't know what to do and my heart was pounding so fast. I just knew that it was my first time seeing them and that I confirmed that they are real, well some of them are catfish that my groupmate and I joked about. My groupmate and I started talking about what was going to happen that day. We were also still awkward to each other. The class started an hour late because our specimens arrived late. Some of us prepared the formalin that we used that day. I also first-hand experienced that formalin is very irritating to the skin and eyes. It can also cause the skin to burn and make someone sterile (baog). Two of our professors were present that day to guide us. It was tiring and also scary because one of our prof was asking questions regarding the anatomical parts of the specimen. We then started to embalm the specimen and made sure that it hardens so that the body will not deteriorate. We finished embalming at 1 o'clock and I went to my cousin's boarding house to eat and take a bath. I stayed up until 3 pm at my cousin's room and afterwards headed to my classmate's boarding house. We then talked and I was also able to meet some of our classmates that I also became friends with. Funny thing was I didn't recognize my classmate, who I am close to, when I was walking towards the classroom. She greeted me and I just said, "di kita kilala" and I anxiously walked towards the classroom. I said sorry afterwards because I didn't mean to not recognize her. It was also our first time meeting each other. We didn't do much on the first day of limited face-to-face classes. We just embalmed our specimen. I just froze because of my anxiety. Good thing was that I was able to meet my group mates and we had a conversation while in the class. Also, I didn't get to take a lot of pictures since we are prohibited from sharing it to other people, especially to non-veterinary medicine students. Because for sure, they wouldn't understand why we have done that. I also named our specimen Susan because I want her to have a meaningful death. It was a tiring day for me but it was all worth it. That day gave me hope for my dreams of becoming a veterinarian someday and I regained my will to study that very day. Author's Note: Two days late into publishing what happened on my first day of classes but it's okay as long as I've got to share it with you guys on this platform. I just needed to take a moment and also let my emotions subside. Thank you all for reading this! The Reason For My Inactivity: Limited Face-to-face Classes Preparations Hello! It's nice to be back here after days or a week of being inactive. But let's set aside the days that I have been inactive since I am already here and looking for ways to be active again. The reason for my absence is our fast approaching limited face-to-face classes. I've been busy looking for the requirements that I am going to be needing such as the materials and the medical certificate that I am fit to participate in the laboratory classes. Our first day of classes will be held on Tuesday April 12. Yes, it's the holy week but we have to attend to our specimens since we lack time. My classes are scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays but since it's the holy week, I only have one class next week which is my 9 am class on Tuesday. I've already mentioned before that I already have some of the things that I am going to be needing to attend the class. What I did last week was to get tested for hepatitis B and get an x-ray test. April 4, 2022 This was the time when I got tested for hepatitis B. Fortunately, I tested non-reactive or negative. I only went to the testing area here in my town. I first went to MGG Branch but there was a long queue and what pissed me off was we needed to have a face shield in order to be tested. Also,I need to wait one week to get the x-ray results there. I had no choice but to leave and went to the Health Quarters which was just walking distance from the MGG. There were a few individuals that were waiting to get tested and waiting for their results when I got there. I went to the reception area and paid before getting my blood extracted. I only paid 380+ pesos for the tests. After waiting for I think 5 minutes, the medical technician extracted blood from me. It was also my first time getting tested for Hepatitis B. Funny thing is that I thought that the Medical technician would insert the whole needle into my vein but it was just ¼ of it. It also didn't hurt, it was like a pinched. It was just quick and I waited for about an hour to get my results. April 5,2022 The day after I got tested for Hepatitis B. An x-ray result is one of the tests required to get a medical certificate. I went to Lumbis Hospital which is located in another town. The hospital was not in operation based on the tarpaulin that was posted outside. The technician told me that the hospital is undergoing a change of management. I only paid 350 pesos to get an x-ray test. The technician made me follow him to the main building of the hospital. It was on the second floor. The room was kind of scary. I also had a funny experience with this. I didn't hear the technician well and I thought that he was telling me to wash my hands and I asked him where the lavatory was. He then told me that he was telling me to take off my shirt. I heard "Magugas" which means to wash instead of "Magukas" that means take a piece of a clothing. It's not really required to take off the shirt but since the one I was wearing was printed, it is going to affect the x-ray film. I got the result after two days and my insides are intact and in good condition. I got it on April 7 at noon. April 10, Today I left home at around 2 pm because I needed to buy the remaining things. It was a very tiring day because I needed to go to three different malls and different farm supplies. I first went to Maxipro which is a store that sells educational materials. I bought a laboratory gown that is extra large and it costs 310 pesos. Afterwards I went to the other mall since the lady there told me that there were no surgical blades that were available. After going to three different malls, I went back there and asked the lady that was on the ground floor if they have surgical blades and told me that it's available and it is located on the second floor. The floor that I was on when I first went there. I told the lady on the second floor that there are available surgical blades according to the other lady on the ground floor. She then asked where it is located and there really are surgical blades. I bought two of each and left. My last stop was at Pacifica which is an agricultural shop. I was able to buy extra needles and a 16 gauge needle. Afterwards, I went home and fixed my things. **Closing thoughts 💭** I still have to get a medical certificate tomorrow morning since they told me that the doctor is available tomorrow morning. It's also the last requirement that I will need to attend class. Anyways, these are just the things that I did aside from going out yesterday to grab early dinner with friends. I have been juggling with my errands on the requirements, dealing with my mental health, and attending online classes. Thank you so much for reading this! I'll find time to catch up with all of you. Maybe I can read articles while I'm on the bus going to school. Online Shopping Splurges: Lazada's 10th Birthday Is To Blame It was a bright sunny afternoon when it all happened. I was supposed to check the Zalora app when I wrongly clicked the Lazada app. Upon opening the app I saw that it's Lazada's Birthday sale and the first thing that I saw was the men's sandals that were on sale. I was exhausted, annoyed, and frustrated at that time. Any adjective that can describe what I was feeling that day. It happened the day that I was supposed to go out with my friend. Since it didn't push through, I had a budget that I saved up from my earnings on this platform. I never thought of saving that money and with my adrenaline rush, I immediately checked out the two pairs of sandals that I added to my cart. Thank God, I was able to control myself by not buying 3 pairs of sandals. I saved up 1,500 pesos for the trip and since I still have money, I also bought myself some KN95 facemask, facial wash, and e-load. I have already received all of my parcels and here are my reviews on using and taking a look at my purchases. **Indoplas KN95** A proper mask is one of my requirements for our limited face-to-face classes. It is to ensure my safety from the virus and also from the formaldehyde that we will be using for our laboratory class. I opted to look for a mask online and saw the Indoplas KN95. I've read some good reviews and I was convinced that it was a good but affordable facemask. It is also FDA approved which is very important. I paid 439 pesos for it and the shipping cost 94 pesos. Good thing is that there was a Lazada 10% voucher (I'm not really sure about this but I know there was a discount when I paid for it). The mask itself is good quality and I can breathe properly when using it. It has 4 protective layers and it doesn't entirely touch my mouth. It was also my first time using this kind of mask and I guarantee you that this is a really good mask. I highly recommend it. Take note that it is 50 pieces already and if we are going to do the costing for each mask. 439÷50= 8.76 pesos will just be its price without the shipping fee. The parcel was also in a box when it arrived and I highly salute the seller for that. **Oxecure Gentle Cleanser** I'm kind of shy to share this but here it goes. I hadn't had a facial wash for so long. Probably when the pandemic started. I have been using regular soap and since I wasn't having breakouts, I did not bother to buy at all. Also because Dove Gentle Cleanser Soap works very well on my skin. But since Oxecure was the word in the market as a good product, I have decided to try it out and bought the 500 ml gentle cleanser. I paid 510 pesos for it including the shipping fee. I have been using it for I think two days now and here are my thoughts on it. The gentle cleanser is fragrance free and it makes my skin glow after using it. But one thing is what I don't like, it makes my skin feel dry. Or I think it's just me and it doesn't work like this on others. I have to apply a moisturizer after I use it. Again, it has been a long time since I didn't use a facial wash. Maybe I'm just getting used to the feeling of it again. **Mandals / Men's Sandals** I thank God that I was able to control myself that time and was not able to check out 3 pairs. I was tempted because of the price. A pair only cost 250 pesos ($5) and for me it was already cheap. I have been wanting to buy sandals for months now since the last time I had one was pre pandemic. Also because I don't have any decent pair of slippers/sandals when going out. What I like most about wearing sandals is that I can easily slide my feet into it especially when I'm in a rush. Plus it suits my physique and style. I bought the same style and this is kind of hilarious because I just noticed it after I paid for it. But it has different designs. *Sighs from relief* Sandals Code: DIEGO Color: Blue I just want to have a different color and the one that is not obvious when having dirt. The straps are synthetic leather and the feel of the sandals is very comfortable. Also, it has a sole protector which is good to have so that the sole will not wear off easily. Sandals Code: KARLO Color: Camel/Tan This is my favorite. I have been eyeing to buy espadrilles. I just like the style plus I can wear it at the beach. The materials of it are just the same as the other sandals but it has abaca lining. It also compliments my skin tone which I most like. But for the quality of these sandals, I do not suggest wearing them on rainy days. Avoid it from getting wet so that the synthetic leather is not going to wear off. My only issue for this was the boxes are damaged. **E-LOAD** I have to blame Ate @Ruffa for this. Hahahahaha. I got "budoled" from her posts on noisecash, which is purchasing load on Shopee and Lazada. Also for its price, it is a steal! I bought an e-load for 1 peso and 5 pesos. I was able to fill my balance up to 120 pesos on my TNT sim card and I think 25 pesos for my Globe Number. I don't really need the load as of the moment but I know I am going to need it especially soon when attending limited face-to-face classes or while on the bus. Closing remarks: That's all for my recent online splurges and as a gastador, I am very proud to say, "Deserve ko 'to". And I do not regret buying any of it. Share in the comment section about your recent splurges and share your thoughts about it. Did you get budoled by my purchases? Author's Note: Thank you for reading this! Ended March With Some Shots Today was a different day, with different people and different views. We celebrated my friend's post-birthday celebration at the nearby resto bar here in our town. The reason why we weren't able to celebrate it on his actual birthday is that we are all busy with our personal lives and he also celebrated it with the people near his house. There were only four of us that came into the celebration and Philip (the celebrant) made us five. Some of our friends were not able to join us because they don't have access to transportation, are busy with work, and the majority are very busy with school stuff. Also, it's quite late already to go out. Well I am also busy with school but I still joined because I wasn't able to go out of the house for weeks and I felt that if I wouldn't let myself go out, the tendency is that I will have a breakdown and experience getting burned out. I left my house at 8 pm and I met with my friend at the bank because I still have to withdraw money. There was queue in the ATM and so we waited for a couple of minutes before I was able to withdraw money. After that, we walk going to the resto bar because it's just near the center of the town. Some of our friends were already there when we arrived. I was surprised that my acquaintance King was there. Well, we are acquaintances and we're not really friends. We just met in a couple of parties before and we just got close to each other. My friend treated us to a tower of Pink Lady, Chicken, salted peanuts, and finger foods. My other friend also gave the celebrant a banana cake which is so great! Here are some of the photos of our food and drinks: The pink lady was our drink. They say it's a ladies drink because it is just mild. It's a mixture of gin and strawberry juice. I know there are other ingredients but those were just the ingredients that I know. We got the feel of the drink after drinking enough shots. We also drank two towers of this. The drink did not actually hit me; rather I was also sleepy when I went out. But after a couple of conversations with friends, the drowsiness went away. I would give the chicken a rating of 6/10. It's because the sauce didn't really coat the chicken and it wasn't that flavorful. We also didn't know what it's called but it was sauteed in sauce. The fish crackers were good with the suka. We had two servings of it and it lasted until the second tower of our drink. Well it isn't actually the best food that someone could really eat when drinking, right? But it was flavorful plus the kick of the suka. We also had two servings of salted peanuts. One was regular and the other one was spicy. It was cooked very well and I tasted a little sugar which made it taste more. The contrast of flavors was such an amazing taste. I actually have a funny story about this. Hahahaha. I underestimated the power of the pepper and I ate it with 2-3 peanuts. To my surprise, it was too spicy!! I drank 2 glasses of water and 2 glasses of the pink lady which made me full. I wanted to throw up at that time because of the amount of liquid that I drank. The last pulutan that my friend ordered was the chicharon bulaklak. We weren't actually satisfied by it because it wasn't crispy and the texture felt that it had fat to it. It was like rubber when we tried to chew it. For me it was a 7/10. But don't get me wrong, I don't usually eat chicharon bulaklak and I think it was the first or second time that I ate it. Of course, I wouldn't forget the banana cake that my friend made. It has chocolate ganache which makes it taste so good! It has a little bit of crunch to it. My friend also put in some almonds. I kept complimenting her because of it and even told her to try selling it. It was the best tasting not-so-obvious banana cake. ***Closing remarks*** It was a fun time that I was able to hangout with my friends especially now that I am getting busier with school. Also it was the best decision ever! The conversations that I had with King had so much substance and I got to know him a little more. This serves as a reminder that we should also try to put ourselves outside once in a little while. There's so much to life than just being at home. Author's Note: I have been very busy these past few days and I just had the time this evening to continue where I left in writing this. Anyways, thank you so much for reading this! Just A Chit Chat With Me Hello, how are you? I hope you are doing great. I don't actually have a topic for today hence, I just want to talk with you and share what I have been thinking about these days. It's like a report of my life. These past few days I've been thinking if this career path is the one for me and if it's really for me. I questioned myself because I was tired and unmotivated. I was completely lost in hope and will to continue this program. I have been studying Veterinary Medicine for three years now, it made me experience the excitement of this career but also doubted myself. I have thoughts of dropping and leaving school, not because I don't want to, but because I wanted to help first here at home with our financial needs. It's not entirely my reason for wanting to stop studying but I felt like I wasted two years of my happiness studying in the middle of this pandemic. I'm always upset, frustrated, not in a good mental state, and I know I'm not getting the quality education that I deserve. I know I am not just the one to be blamed for feeling all of these but it's the system. The system is failing me/us. We deserve better but it is just so frustrating that we can't even have access to a better system. I had times where I conditioned myself to study and most of it failed. I have been completely interrupted and distracted by my environment and my lack of resources. It's way different attending online classes using a laptop than a phone. It has a different feel. And I can attest to that because I used my phone most of the time that I attended google meetings. Typing on a computer keyboard feels different from typing on a phone. It just gives a different feel plus listening to the sound of it. Also facing a laptop or a computer gives a better view of the lectures. I have spoken to this with my friends and I am thankful that they are willing to listen. In fact, I had a friend that feels the same way I do. I told myself before that if you feel that it's not the career path for you then leave when it's still early. All jokes on me, I can't. I saw the sacrifices of my parents, especially my mom, just to send us to school. And seeing them so tired coming from work everyday pains me and I think that I will just fail them if I don't finish this program. But what if pursuing this program will eventually kill me? Erase the joy out of me? I don't know now but I just want to continue even if I'm not sure what I am going to do. I know deep in my heart that one main reason for this is that I am afraid of failing my subjects. I am afraid that I will get kicked out of the program and there is no chance for me to get back and I'll be forced to either transfer to a different university or shift to a different course again. This is just me and this is one of the many times in my life when I would overthink. No doubt I was called Pessimistic by my friend. The funny part is that I didn't know what the meaning of that word was until I looked it up on the internet. I know that the only person that can help me is myself and no other people. My future is in my hands and the life that I will be living depends on me. Anyhow, these are the thoughts that I've been thinking about these days. This is one of the rarest moments where I shared my personal life. And I won't be looking forward to the next one, hopefully. Let us strive not to dwell on the dark side of life rather to strive for greatness. Thank you for giving me your time. Author's Note: Thank you for reading this! I apologize for not giving time to your articles these past few days. I'm just trying to be busy. It’s Getting Near And I Don’t Know How To Feel About It I received some news this morning while I was attending my class in Biochemistry. It’s about our limited face to face classes. Our professor in Anatomy told us that it will push through next month and they are just finishing with the guidelines. While we were still waiting, we were advised to buy the needed laboratory materials for the subject. It was a long list and fortunately, I already have some of the materials. Please start preparing the following; (Per student) 1. Dissecting Set (Scalpel holder no. 4, Scalpel blade no. 20, Surgical scissors (Straight) 2.50-cc syringe 3.15 gauge needle 4.Laboratory gown 5.N-95 face mask 6.Protective Eyewear or Goggles 7.Ambidextrous Gloves (1 box) (Per group = 4 members) 1.Canine specimen 2.10 liters formaldehyde 37% solution 3.Euthanizing agents such as Zoletil, Xylazine, and KCl = will be discussed later on after finalizing the number of groups 4.Plastic drums with cover 5.Animal Restraint (muzzle, rope etc) 6.5-cc, 3-cc, and 1-cc syringes Good thing is that our school will provide medical insurance for all of us. I don't need to pay 900 pesos per month for the student Philheath. I was shocked when I heard the news, I didn’t know what to feel about it. I was in a blurry state. I know this is what I really wanted months back but I also know that I am not ready. I've always mentioned in my previous blogs regarding online classes that I am not learning. It's like, study now, forget later. That is what always happens to me all the time. The tentative of our limited face to face classes starts next month, April 4. And as it gets near, my mental health rapidly deteriorates. I am not confident. I have to study from the very start. My department is still polishing the guidelines for our limited face to face classes and I am not quite sure if I'll go back to my boarding house or I'll just commute every time I have classes. I am considering 3 things: **schedule**, **budget**, and **resources**. I live two hours away from my school and I'm still weighing if the schedule is going to be too hard for me to travel every time I have classes. But I am also thinking of what I am going to do in my boarding house if I decide to stay there. What I am going to do if I don't have laboratory classes. I'll probably just sleep and slack my ass off there. Since the inflammation rate has affected the price of gasoline, the cost of transportation is too high. The 70-80 pesos fare that I pay for a single ride costs 110 pesos now. So, going back and forth would cost me around 220 pesos already. And take note, my tricycle fare of 20 pesos is not yet included. My department is not located on the main road so I also need to take a pedicab going there and it costs 10 pesos for each ride. I almost forgot, I also need money for my food. Estimated breakdown of my budget: Bus fare: 220 pesos Tricycle fare: 40 pesos Pedicab fare: 20 Food allowance: 200 (estimated) Total: 480 pesos This is the budget that I will be needing every time that I will attend limited face to face classes. It's quite a big amount. Also, we're not rich and it would be too hard for my parents to give this amount. One thing that I also consider is the resources. I have all the things that I need here at home that I don't have in my boarding house. E.g. Food, wifi, laptop, etc cetera. Going back there will just be too costly for me plus there is no good food there. This news is what kept me thinking these past few days. It turned my world upside down. I am afraid of failing. I don't want to waste 3 years worth of med school. At this point, I am already doubting myself if I can. I need to grind more so that I can lessen the burden in my family. I just really hope that I'm going to be in a good state of mind. P.S. this is a late post. I started to write this a week ago and I just have the energy to finished it tonight. Not really a secret rather a fun fact March 25, 2022 I no longer know when was the last time I published a blog since I’ve been missing in action on this platform for days. I tried writing but I wasn’t able to finish it, it was just stuck in my drafts. The thought of news that I had received stresses me out, in fact, I tried writing about it but I never got to finish. The last article that I can vividly remember was @BreadChamp 's, it was a prompt and I actually saved it a week ago or so. You can read it here. It was a fun prompt with exciting questions to answer and so it will be my blog for today. It will also serve as my blog restart. The prompt was initiated by @Micontingsabit. https://read.cash/@BreadChamp/almost-raped-63ff2832 There are just 5 questions, without further ado, I’ll start answering. What is your ideal way to spend a vacation? Image Source: Google I have had so many vacations in my life specifically, summer vacations. And all of it was just going out of the house and going on a family trip. But at my age and disposition now, I just want to have a peaceful vacation. I want to go to a place where I can enjoy living the simple life. In fact, I envision myself living in a Kubo in the mountains with no electricity and without the presence of a cellular phone. My daily activities would just be taking care of the animals, waking up to the sound of birds chirping, planting, and taking a dip in a river or at a falls. It’s just so simple yet it can make me feel solemn at my own company. I just want a life with no distractions. What makes you dislike a/the person? I dislike a person when they don’t treat other people with respect. When they think so highly of themselves and think they own the world. I also dislike people who don’t appreciate and value the work of the service crews. In general, I dislike people who have a bad attitude. Are you happy with the people you surround yourself with? Why or why not? I learned how to value myself to the point that I avoid people who don't see me as I am. People who are manipulative and users. I have had experiences where I doubted myself as a person. And to the person that I am today, I am happy that I learned to get rid of the people who don’t value me and I am continuously learning to handpick the ones that are good for me. When was the last time you cried? The thought of her never coming back to our lives started to sink in when my cousins started to go back to Manila for their jobs. It just made me feel alone. But after weeks of absorbing the reality and visiting her grave, I eventually learned to accept and continue living my life. What’s a secret you’ve never told anyone? I like reading dollar prices on items. It just makes me feel like I am not spending too much. Hahahahaha. For example, I found a shirt that costs 600 pesos online. But when I convert it to dollars, it’s just around $12 which doesn’t sound too bad for my ears and my wallet. Author’s Note: Thank you to the one who thought of this prompt. Lazy Yet Productive Sunday With Me Before this day ends, I just want to share the things that I did today. We all know that it's too hard to be productive in this humid weather and most of the time we tend to slack off and forget about our responsibilities. I woke up at around 9 am because of my daily alarm, and I decided to get back to sleep and slept for almost two hours after getting out of bed. Also because my Mom was telling me to do something. I made my chocolate drink and afterwards ate lunch. I had roasted chicken. I originally planned that I will do my backlogs this weekend but I got too lazy and exhausted because of the scorching heat of the sun. At 2 pm I decided to workout. I didn't push through with doing my report since I'll probably just get exhausted and I'll quit doing it after a few minutes of facing the laptop. Also, I just dealt with my laziness by working it out. It was only a 20 minute workout from the four week restart program of the Rebel Team. My coach was Tinoy Borommeo and it was a full-body pull for day 2 of the program. I'm supposed to be working out for day 3 today but I wasn't able to workout yesterday since I was feeling sick. What I like about the workout program is that it doesn't pressure me and it has a 30 second rest time which is ample enough to catch my breath and to get ready for the next exercise. After resting from the workout, I head out to freshen up. I was supposed to meet with my vet friends this afternoon to have a few drinks but I got lazy because it's too hot. And also because we planned it just this afternoon. One reason why I didn't push through with the plan is that it's my cousin's birthday today and I thought of just going to their house and it's very good because I'm not going to spend money from going out with friends. We had spaghetti, fried chicken, and ice cream. My cousin asked my Lola to cook fried chicken because she likes how my Lola makes it. We head out to their house which is just 2 blocks aways from my house. We stayed there for about 2 hours and we were sitting on the sala and together we watched the campaign of the Team Angat in Pasig City. #PasigLaban I eventually left since I needed to deliver the peanut butter that my friend ordered. It's only 2 barangays away from my house and I rode my bike there. I wanted to buy myself a caramel macchiato frappe but it's still not available in the café near me and so I just proceeded to go home. It also saved me from spending money. Hahahaha. Right now, I don't know if I'm just going to chill, take a bath, or do my report in Biochemistry. I'm already sleepy and I might take a bath before going to bed. I'm feeling fully rested this weekend and I think I'm ready to get back to grinding in acads tomorrow. How is your weekend? Tell us something in the comment section. Author's Note: Thank you for reading this! There are 5 weekdays and may we have a sustaining power up until the weekend. God bless!
