This post is inspired by a Facebook status posted by my husband a couple of years back. The post goes like this:
Subject: Young Filipina (around 14-15 years old) poses on Facebook publicly in a very "Sexy Way" (not disclosing the photo for privacy purposes).
Foreigner (50 + years old) comments on the photo:
"Wow, very sexy"! "You're so hot", "I want you to be with me".
My husband's thoughts: "SCARY"
It's like young girls are basically saying, "Hey, all you pervert predators come get me" because they respond with "Thank you babes", "Thank you boys", "Love you back" etc.
Makes you wonder sometimes...
Is it ALWAYS 100% the guy's fault when a girl gets harassed or something deeper than that when you think of the way these young girls toy with adult predators?
But really, dangle a carrot in front of a bunny, and you might just get yourself a bit when the bunny goes for the carrot you know?
Playing with fire! Fire! Fire!
Another scary possibility - Video time doing God knows what with God knows who.
"Send me some money po!"
These predators really do pay up for a show. They do pay and it will cost them a lot less than if they pay for a 1-900 sex call. Plus, they can feed their egos that the girl is in love with them if they let themselves believe it. Sadly though, the Philippines is only one country in the world where the kids rule the internet and the parents are often (depending on age or finances/lack of own computer) unaware of what goes on. Third-world country problems. Also, These kids are not influenced by porn. They are influenced by poverty and tourism money.
I also think the ignorance and naivety of parents have a lot to do with it. I know of people in the rural areas where they cannot even afford a computer, may have never used one, and will possibly never use one. They are clueless as to there being a danger to their kids who have a smart phone for example. It's not that they don't care, it's that they are unaware of the dangers.
Here's the reality:
We can talk about what SHOULD have been done by the government. We can talk about what SHOULD be done with the government, and it all makes sense with one exception. Too late to fix the past which affects now, and who knows if the future will happen the way it should. Now, there is a problem and the blame game can get shifted around in many ways.
Ultimately, there is a 14-year old girl who is not stupid, who knows the game she is playing, and there are predators that like playing the game with them.
This reminds me of me and my husband at McDonald's some years ago. It was about 5 pm and it was on Valentine's Day. McDonald's was loaded with teenagers and my husband happened to notice one who was very pretty, with long hair, with a small cute figure, and then hubby got a better look at her face and realized she was only about 15. She was wearing tight pants, a tank top, and hooker platform heels.
Hubby told me:
"Okay! Our daughter will NEVER dress that way at this age!"
and I agreed of course.
Hubby even said:
"For a man, that must feel strange! You see, she looks sexy!"
then realized her age and he goes again:
"and I had to admit - Ummmm yeah, she looked sexy...and Ummm YES, it was very awkward!
Now, this is NOT technology as an issue. Someone let her leave her house this way. It is also no secret how a working girl dresses here and she looked pretty darn close to it. Making yourself out as a sexual object does not help self-esteem, it makes it worse. Girls post very sexy and revealing photos and then demand to be respected? That is a little impossible when they don't even respect themselves.
Cute is not panties and bra. How can you possibly say she doesn't understand?
Dear parents, protect your daughters and check their profiles from time to time.
Random ramblings. I'll leave everything here now.
It's midnight and I am about to go to bed. I hope everyone is behaving. No playing with fire. Goodnight, my amazing friends. Catch you all later again sometime tomorrow I hope. Xoxo
One love

Nakow buti dito mo pinost to. Hays.
