Yesterday, my mother hired a trike (Philippine 3-wheeled transportation) and traveled here to our house because she needed to run some important errands in town. It was raining hard yesterday (on and off) and in the middle of her trip, landslides, mudslides, and large rocks fell from the mountains. Her path was surrounded by small mountains and plains. I was nervous when she called me and sent a picture of a large rock that had fallen in front of her. Fortunately, there were those who helped to remove the stone from the road. They did not continue on that route and took another route. Thank God, they arrived here safely, and she traveled back to her house safely as well.
So anyway, speaking of muds, I am not going to talk about mudslides. Today let me go tour you over to the Pottery Town (clay pottery) here in San Juan. Just a few-minute ride from our house.
A couple of years earlier, my daughter and I visited the pottery town here in San Juan, La Union to try some pottery lessons and pottery making. It was her recognition day in the morning that day (consistent top achiever in class), and just from that point forward, we chose to spend the rest of the day doing some pottery instead of dining out at a mall. Her choice.
So we are here now in Taboc, San Juan, La Union, where pots are shown along the highway, and there are a lot of pot stores and stalls that you can discover around here.
We headed straight to a red clay studio where the owners offer red clay pottery lessons. Join us.
A brief history about the place
This is called the Red Clay Pagdamilian is one of the tourist spots here in San Juan where you can appreciate finding out about red clay pottery making. Begun as a retailer in 2001, it has developed into a full-time pottery tourist in 2010 to assist vacationers who need to try an on-the-spot pottery lesson directed by the potters of red clay themselves.
During our visit, I paid Php 500 Philippine pesos ($10 USD) per person/ 2 hours. So, I paid Php 1000 pesos ($20 USD) for me and my daughter. All materials are included and you can bring your own work home when it has dried.
Let's start playing with red clays. Kuya (pottery making instructor) now setting up our pottery area, started the lesson, and we started making our own clay pot souvenirs. I did the heart one, and the rest were created by my daughter. She did enjoy making her hands dirty playing with clays and creating her masterpieces. She says this is one of her favorite lessons outside school.
If you guys wish to do broad pottery preparing, you may likewise join their studio that runs for a multi-week, so you can become more familiar with pottery making when you return home. If you also want to come around, go ahead and shop and see what delightful things they've made like fridge magnets, key chains, extras holders, and many others. In order to attend pottery lessons, you need to make an appointment a week prior.
Aside from clay pots displays and souvenirs, the studio also sells different souvenirs like shirts, bags, and many more.

Leaving you a clay quote that goes:
"Clay is molded to form a cup, But it is on its non-being that the utility of the cup depends. Doors and windows are cut out to make a room, But it is on its non-being that the utility of the room depends. Therefore turn to be into an advantage, and turn non-being into utility."
