Dogs can be scarred for life, not just humans. Dogs have feelings too.
Meet Clawi, the traumatized dog. Me and my friends paid her a visit yesterday but she was just terrified the whole time. Read more about our day here and where I posted that photo too. https://actifit.io/@leeart/actifit-leeart-20220516t123815332z
This is my friend's rescue dog. She was hit by a car and left on the sidewalk. It was days before someone posted about her online and so my friend and company went to rescue her. She needed to have surgery to fix her but emotionally she still needs help.
They were able to track down the owner but unfortunately, the owner can't take care of her anymore because of reasons that the owner can't take care of himself as well.
So the online community raised enough funds for the dog's surgery and to buy provisions for her and whatever she needs until they can find the right owner to adopt her.
My friend took her in temporarily until she has recovered from surgery. It took a while for the dog to get used to my friend and her other seven dogs (now eight for she took in another puppy). The dog would cower and hide whenever my friend's husband is around or when male visitors are in the house. Gradually, she was able to trust my friend's husband and soon would be the one to go up to him for cuddles and such.
A friend's friend decided to adopt her. Now that is another adjustment for Clawi, new family, new environment and with that new fear. Although she was able to adjust to her new family and environment, playing with the other dogs that the owner who adopted has (we get updated through her facebook posts about the dog), Clawi is still adjusting to the husband in the family.
Surprisingly, when we paid her a visit together with our friend who took her in temporarily, she is like a stranger anymore or maybe because we guys were there that's why Clawi's guards were up.
We each tried carrying her but it is evident how scared she is because she was shaking and her tails were tucked between her legs.
The other dogs of the adoptive owner were playful and friendly. One even stayed with me for belly rubs the whole time we were there. Of course the dog did not warm up to be right away but eventually it did. The other dog is Pixie, which I used as my lead image for this post. There are other dogs in the house but they were inside. Since we didn't stay long, we just stayed outside and two of the dogs played with us.
The reason we paid a visit was to have the adoption papers signed but then my friend forgot about it so she will be back for another visit. Since we were in the area anyway so we decided to pay them a visit still.
I really feel sorry for Clawi for what she had been through for her to be that terrified of other people.
However, she has found her new family and she was slowly getting used to the husband figure in the house. She was still scared but not that much as before. We saw a video of her jumping and running with the other dogs in the house. You can tell that she was happy. She obviously has adjusted to her new environment and new found family and that is wonderful to know.
How do you treat dogs? Do you consider them family?
These questions leave me speechless
Here is the second part of answering a set of questions. This was the first set that I answered. https://read.cash/@ARTicLEE/i-havent-really-asked-myself-these-at-least-most-of-them-a154f5ab
**What annoys me the most?**
The attitude of other people towards others particularly people that have no regard about others.
Do others find me likeable?
That's for you to find out :D
When was the last time I fell head over hells with life?
When I fell in love. I do fall in love with a lot of things in life even with simple things. Being a worrier, it makes you a pessimist most of the time but whenever I get to experience something good, I am falling in love all over again with life.
Am I enriching other people's lives with what I do?
I hope so. Sometimes I feel like what I share here doesn't make sense at all but when I read your comments and I read how you can relate to it, that is something. We are here to learn from each other.
How meaningful is my life? What makes life meaningful?
I have my partner, family and friends who are there for me. Above all, I have God with me. I think that is meaningful enough in my book. If you are content with life, with what you have or learn to make the most of what you have, then your life is meaningful.
Would I lay down my life for somebody?
Yes. Every life matter. Your life is as important as mine. However, if I have to give up my life for other people, then I will not hesitate to do so.
How much money would I be willing to give to those in need if I won the lottery?
Whatever is left after I take care of my family and myself. However, if ever I have taken care of my family and then won the lottery, then I would probably give 50% to the needy and the rest to invest.
Am I worthy of being loved?
Yes. We all need to be loved. We all deserve the love that we give. We all matter.
What talents/skills do I have that I can do better than anyone else?
I can probably eat faster than others lol! I can sing some. I can type fast.
**What are the things that put me off?**
Anything that attacks the senses: smell, sight, taste, hearing and touch.
**If I had not been born, what would be different about the world?**
Then there would be no Articlee or leeart in read or noise lol! You will be one short of a supporter :D
**Would I enjoy watching a movie made of my life?**
Absolutely! There would be things worth remembering for sure that would be nice to see again.
Is my definition of success the same as everyone else's?
We all go through different situations and we cope differently. We do things differently therefore we succeed in our own. I believe that most think like this so yes, my definition of success is the same as others.
Do I have a personal mission?
To make the most of life with what I can and to be of help to others as much as I can.
What am I willing to go the extra mile for?
To provide for my family. My family will always be on the top of my list.
**What are my top five negative habits that I must change to something better?**
Laziness, worrying, afraid to take risks sometimes, too complacent and did I say laziness?
The past few days, I have been consumed by laziness again that I don't feel that productive.
Who do I look up to?
Our creator. I am not that religious but I try what I can.
How are you all? How is your weekend going so far? I think my brain is agreeing with my laziness. I thought coffee my help but after how many ounces, there's no effect.
I hope you have a better day.
How to make an impact? Start within.
There is a trending male celebrity right now here in our country wherein in a video circulating online he and his male friend/business partner greeted each other with a kiss on the cheek. People were quick to judge that that was his boyfriend and that they were gay couples. How homophobic can you be?
This is the kind of mentality that we have been preaching over and over much more so pre-election and yet here we are again - being judgmental. How hypocrite can you be?
This kind of greeting is normal in other culture. Maybe that's the kind of culture that both the actor and his friend have grown up with. A kiss on the cheek is common in other cultures around the globe.
Just because you don't do it, it doesn't mean it is wrong. Just because others do it, it doesn't mean you are holier than other people.
Is it too hard for us to widen our understanding? Learn about others. Don't cancel them right away just because you don't agree with what they do. Try to understand why they do what they do.
We have the means already to know more about other culture. Don't be ignorant. Use the internet to gain more knowledge.
Always think about what you share online. How does it affect you? What is the impact of what you are going to share? Above all, is it true? Is it relevant? What is the purpose of your sharing? Is it beneficial or important that others will know? Again, always check the veracity. If you think it is worth sharing, then go ahead and share. If not, then let it stop with you.
Like words, what you share online can be treated by others as truth when in reality it is not especially if we don't fact check.
There are so many contents online that we should guard ourselves from.
A friend posted about a kid who tried to hang himself just for the sake of doing it. If his mom didn't hear him calling here then it would have been the end of the kid. The mom asked what made the boy do it and he said he saw it on tv.
So you see, we have to guard not ourselves only but also our loved ones. Whatever they see in you, online or in media, that could have an impact. No matter how much we say that it is wrong, there will come a point that they would like to test it just to see if it is true or not. That's why kids like challenging authorities or their parents. They want to prove to themselves that what you tell them is true. Don't give up on reminding them and being patient with them.
Another issue is the military training to be added back to the school curriculum. It used to be there but was opposed thus it was removed. There is a plan to do that but right now some are opposed to it. While I agree this will be an additional training for kids to be more disciplined, discipline still starts within our homes. If we want the next generation to be better, treat them better at home. We let others take care of our kids and then blame them if our kids did something wrong. It's always the fault of other people. So why not discipline them yourselves and not rely on other people to do your job?
Discipline starts in the home. Discipline starts within.
Free-write Friday: Of beliefs and adventure
The past days my laziness is catching up with me. What was your name for it again @fantagira , Ernesto?
Anyway, I have not been as active as I was even my time in noise is limited. Good thing I still manage to write an article a day.
With Ernesto's *help*, I managed to watch a movie yesterday: Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Albus Dumbledore. It's timely and it's relevant especially what is happening in our country. In the movie, relationships were built and destroyed on trust and lies. I don't want to spoil you especially if you haven't seen it yet. https://www2.movieorca.com/movie/fantastic-beasts-the-secrets-of-dumbledore-76075
How far can you go to claim a position? Building it on trust takes time. Although sometimes we convince/fool others with lies just to gain their trust.
Here in our country the national/local elections have been concluded although the results are still not officially tallied. We are still divided though. Of course it is natural that not everyone will agree to the results. There will always be opposition no matter who wins.
We all have our own opinions about who we voted for but we should not push those to everyone's throats.
Talking about belief, I saw this video in social media. I don't know the whole context of it or where did the gathering happen. It looks like a church to me although I'm not sure what denomination. However, almost everyone is showing a certain presidentiable's finger sign - an L sign that looks like gun to some. https://www.facebook.com/TheImperialPatriarchPH/videos/748108313076288
Reading the comment section, it is said that it's a Catholic church. I'm not familiar with the song but some commented it's not a religious song.
First of all, I'm not Catholic nor am I that religious. If what was commented in that post was true, is it normal for the Catholic church to hold this kind of service? What happened to separating politics and church? What happened to giving praise and worshiping God and singing praises to Him?
Again, I'm not Catholic so I don't know how they do it. Again, the video does not tell me everything.
Anyway, we all have our beliefs, traditions and cultures that we practice. If that is how that denomination practice, then fine by me. I respect that.
Moving on.
The other day, we visited again our grandparents' house particularly to celebrate their birthdays. I went there early to help with the preparation. Sometime after lunch, we went to Hydro falls. We dragged anyone who we can drag. Only one of us brought a bottled water. No one brought change of clothing or towel. We said we would go and we just went.
Halfway through although it was cloudy, we can still feel the heat. I was getting concerned about not bringing water with us. The way to the falls was a dry riverbed but huge boulders and rocks that we have to climb. Yet, we pushed on.
I was in the middle at first but then the others started slowing down so me and a cousin went ahead. I was already soaking my feet in the water by the time the others arrived.
The water was really inviting such that some swam even though they didn't have a change of clothes that's why they were soaking wet when we went back home. We didn't stay long though. The water is cold and it started to rain. We still have a long way to walk.
Going back, we were again behind the group but because they walked slowly, me and two of my cousins went ahead of the group. We have already done eating when they arrived.
While it was fun and enjoyable, unfortunately, one of us got hurt such that she was brought to the hospital to have her wound tended and had to have stitches to close it.
The day for my aunt and family to return to wherever is nearing that's why we want to spend time with them as much as we can. We don't know when they will be visiting again.

I haven't really asked myself these, at least most of them
Here are some questions that you may want to answer when you have no topics to share. I got this from GarrethGrey07. You can read her article here. https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30
Image is from GarrethGrey07's article.
Some of these have already been answered before so I'm skipping those.
What would I truly regret not doing if I died tonight? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#what-would-i-truly-regret-not-doing-if-i-died-tonight
There would be a long list for this but it would still be selling my BTC before it reached it's highest price. That would have set my family in a good place especially my parents. To know that your family is okay when you leave this earth is the most fulfilling thing above all.
What advice has someone in my family given and that I have taken just in time? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#what-advice-has-someone-in-my-family-given-and-that-i-have-taken-just-in-time
Although we have close relationship in our family, we don't talk that much so this is a hard one for I can't remember any advice at the moment that have come at the right time.
What would I do if my biggest fear come true? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#what-would-i-do-if-my-biggest-fear-come-true
My biggest fear is dying a painful but slow death. I have no fear of death itself but the process of getting there is what I have concerns about. I don't want people that I love see me suffer so if it's my time, I want it to be quick and painless, maybe messy and ugly but I'm okay with that. However, whatever happens, I'll try to accept it.
Have I done something recently that I could be proud of? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#have-i-done-something-recently-that-i-could-be-proud-of
Surviving social gatherings. I think only introverts will understand. Introverts unite! The past two months we have had road trips and family gatherings wherein socializing with relatives and family cannot be avoided. This may have been a breeze to some of you but as I have said, introverts can relate to this. How? We may be okay one minute but socializing drains our energy so that we may not be okay the next. I was okay with the adventures that we had, the trip, the gathering but it really got me tired talking to people.
Here is something you should understand about introverts, it's not that we don't want to talk to you and you may think we ignore you, we are being aloof, but we are not. We are internalizing and talking to ourselves, comforting ourselves that we can do it. We can socialize. We can talk to you. Just gives us some time and space.
What would I do with my remaining days, if I only had a year left to live? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#what-would-i-do-with-my-remaining-days-if-i-only-had-a-year-left-to-live
Travel and keep traveling as much as I can as my resources will allow. However, considering how my resources look at the moment, I couldn't travel that far but if that time comes and I have enough resources, then travel it is. So for now, spend my time with my loved ones more.
Am I a servant of money, or does money serve me? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#am-i-a-servant-of-money-or-does-money-serve-me
I would like to say money serve me but I'm not sure how that works exactly. Does it mean you are rich, have lots of investments that you keep accumulating wealth? If it is, then definitely no. I don't live for money. I have the freedom to work and not to just like what I have been doing the past few days for I'd rather spend time with myself and my loved ones.
Why am I afraid of being true to myself when others are around? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#why-am-i-afraid-of-being-true-to-myself-when-others-are-around
Not afraid but wary. I try to observe first how much of me can I become in front of those who I am with. I can still be myself little by little for them to know me more and more and vice versa. I respect peoples' boundaries.
When was the last time I extended kindness to somebody?
Today. I'm being kind to everyone especially these days that people are divided because of the outcome of our recently concluded election. It may still be a partial unofficial result since all votes were not accounted for and yet hate is palpable in the air because of this. Some have their own opinions with regard to this. Some have let this break their relationships with friends and family. Some resorted to violence. Whatever their opinions are, I respect that and treat them kindly as I can in words and actions.
What question do I want to know the answer to if it will help humanity? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#what-would-i-do-with-my-remaining-days-if-i-only-had-a-year-left-to-live
How to restore humanity? As an example stated in the previous question, we are full of hate, greed, selfishness and everything that came out of Pandora's box. If only we can collect them all and re-seal them again in that box never to be opened again then this world is heaven on earth.
What do I really want from life? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#am-i-a-servant-of-money-or-does-money-serve-me
Peace and love. I may sound so cliche but that is what we ultimately need right now. What has the world become? Divided and untrusting. Greedy and selfish. Violent and hypocrites. We serve no one but ourselves.
What aspect of my personality still needs improvement? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#why-am-i-afraid-of-being-true-to-myself-when-others-are-around
More like aspectS. It would be how to socialize better, how to be more of a risk taker, how to be more trusting, how to be more accepting and understanding. I'm still a work in progress. I'm not perfect.
Must I take other people's advice? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/talking-to-myself-prompt-d20edc30#what-are-the-three-things-that-i-am-grateful-for
Definitely. I don't know everything. I only know a few. Any advice that will surely help me I gladly welcome. Even the things I thought I knew is can be not applicable these days or in the future.
So there goes my first part of these set of questions. My work is calling so I had to make this quickly.
Would you want to answer these questions too?
Less withdrawal but continue promoting BCH
We all know how the market looks like. The price of BCH has not yet recovered. Some of you know this and have enjoyed the all time high price of BCH before and comparing it now, it's really a huge, huge difference.
I have come across this article by Pantera wherein he gave recommendations for read.cash. (Read Two Suggestions In Support Of Bitcoin Cash and the Two Platforms). I came across that through the article of Eybyoung. You can read her article here. https://read.cash/@Pantera/two-suggestions-in-support-of-bitcoin-cash-and-the-two-platforms-323ac09f https://read.cash/@Eybyoung/until-when-will-bitcoin-cash-bch-stays-in-the-bottom-f5ce1a17
Basically, the suggestion was to have have a withdrawal in steps meaning when you withdraw BCH from read, you don't get the whole amount right away. Only certain amounts will be withdrawn every step until the whole amount was completely withdrawn.
The second suggestion is to limit the amount of rewards given in a day in terms of BCH and not USD. As mentioned earlier, the value of BCH in terms of USD is down so it is understandable to limit the rewards given so as not to deplete the resources that quickly. USD1 in BCH before is not the same as it is now. The lower the value in USD, the more BCH in value. The higher the value in USD, the lesser BCH in value.
I do agree with these suggestions but I also understand that most of us here are for the money, meaning converting BCH to fiat. Some have even considered this their job. One can easily do blogging in the convenience of their homes and earn from it. I too benefits from it.
That's why while the best way is to hold BCH, there are those like us who just can't.
Thus, in terms of withdrawing your earnings here, what I would suggest is to withdraw your BCH in small amounts instead and not withdrawing all your earnings entirely. I wonder if this is a great idea though. What do you think? Maybe withdraw a certain amount every week then convert to fiat.
For those who can hold though, continue doing so.
Another suggestion to read is to maybe hold a certain amount in every wallet here in read that is not withdrawable. I don't know how effective that will be though. Or maybe set an amount in BCH that is withdrawable. While we are at that, set a limit also in the amount that one can withdraw in a day.
Also, let us help promote BCH in every way that we can. There are different ways now to do that especially online. Tweet articles or post your articles in your social media accounts.
Lastly, transact using BCH. This is not applicable to everyone especially since not all have cryptocurrency available in their area just like here in our city. Establishments here are not yet accepting crypto. You can suggest BCH though to online sellers to maybe consider doing business using BCH. For those who can transact using BCH, I suggest that you do so.
So what do you think? Do you agree with these suggestions? How about you? What would be your suggestions for read?
Let's sweat it out this hot day
I really wanted to push myself to write something. I have been slacking off the past few days and it's not good. For once it starts, I'll be like this for I don't know how long.
So let's do another question and answer shall we? Here are sets of questions that I read from GarrethGrey07. You can read it here. Feel free to answer them too. https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/choosing-your-partner-is-choosing-your-future-would-you-rather-8b252a5f
**Would you rather your partner be a great cook and messy around the house or a horrible cook but neat?**
I prefer neat. I'm not that neat myself that's why I'd rather have someone my opposite. Opposites attract, right? Most of the time, we order food anyway since we don't have that much time to cook. I am not a great cook. My partner is not that horrible cook though thankfully. If am living alone by myself then I'd be fine with just noodles every day or bread and coffee. I can live with that.
Would you rather be balding but in shape or overweight with a full head of hair? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/choosing-your-partner-is-choosing-your-future-would-you-rather-8b252a5f#would-you-rather-be-balding-but-in-shape-or-overweight-with-a-full-head-of-hair
They say baldness can be hereditary. Good thing we are not prone to baldness so I don't have worry about that although sometimes I do because there lots of strands of hair that are noticeable on the floor every day that's why I have to sweep at least twice a day. I do like eating for food is life, right? I like hunting for places to dine because as mentioned above, I don't cook that much. However, the food we eat really affects our weight and our overall health. I am getting fatter by the day which is concerning.
My choice then would be bald but in shape. I still can wear headgear anyway. A bald head is easier to hide than an overweight body.
Would you rather be with someone who snores loudly or has bad breath? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/choosing-your-partner-is-choosing-your-future-would-you-rather-8b252a5f#would-you-rather-be-with-someone-who-snores-loudly-or-has-bad-breath
I can't stand bad breath. I can't even stand my own breath sometimes so much more so that we are now wearing masks whenever we go out lol! They say I do snore but I don't how loud. So I'd rather choose someone who snores. I can sleep through with anything any way that's why snoring wouldn't bother me once I am out.
Would you rather be with a partner who never shaves or one who never cut's their toenails? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/choosing-your-partner-is-choosing-your-future-would-you-rather-8b252a5f#would-you-rather-be-with-a-partner-who-never-shaves-or-one-who-never-cut039s-their-toenails
I have a thing with hands and fingers. Not a fetish but I do like someone with clean hands both physically and figuratively. If you have clean hands, that means you are mindful of what you touch and hold. Most of the times we pick germs and all that and transfer them through our hands. Clean hands for means you are concerned about yourself and the well-being of others. You don't want to dirty yourself and others too. Same is through when you are not red-handed. That means your conscience is clean You do not wish to be that selfish or greedy. I'd rather go for someone who never shaves. Besides, as long as you are clean with yourself then there's no problem.
Would you rather your partner have a tattoo of their ex or have to tell your parents you met in Tinder? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/choosing-your-partner-is-choosing-your-future-would-you-rather-8b252a5f#would-you-rather-your-partner-have-a-tattoo-of-their-ex-or-have-to-tell-your-parents-you-met-in-ti
I'm okay with tattoo and I'm okay with my partner with tattoo of an ex. That is a reminder that we make bad choices and that's okay. We are all human. We commit mistakes. Also, that is already in the past. There is nothing we can do about that unless you wanted to have it lasered.
My parents don't know Tinder. I'd just say it's a dating app and they'll not ask any more questions about it. So I'd rather choose Tinder for this round.
Would you rather have a partner who hates pet's or Love's them more than you? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/choosing-your-partner-is-choosing-your-future-would-you-rather-8b252a5f#would-you-rather-have-a-partner-who-hates-pet039s-or-love039s-them-more-than-you
Loves them more than I. It's already the case so there's nothing to change. I do like pets but not to the extend of having one for now although we do have a lot of them back home. However, if we live in an apartment that pets are okay, then we surely would have one but I know for sure my partner will be the one taking more care of it.
Would you rather your partner be with a dumb wealthy or a smart broke one? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/choosing-your-partner-is-choosing-your-future-would-you-rather-8b252a5f#would-you-rather-your-partner-be-with-a-dumb-wealthy-or-a-smart-broke-one
How can you be dumb if you are wealthy? Inheritance? Still, being able to manage that wealth requires intelligence and wisdom. I don't understand this question. We have a lot of smart people but broke. It only goes to show that we can't have it all. We can be smart in some things but not in everything.
Would you rather share a toothbrush with your partner or have to wear your partner's underwear? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/choosing-your-partner-is-choosing-your-future-would-you-rather-8b252a5f#would-you-rather-share-a-toothbrush-with-your-partner-or-have-to-wear-your-partner039s-underwea
I don't find anything wrong with sharing one toothbrush. You already share saliva through kissing, right? As long as you both put clean stuff in your mouth then there's no problem. I know people who do that. Sometimes me and my partner when we go to places and one forgets toothbrush, then we share. We both know how clean we are.
Sharing underwear on the other hand is something else for I am bigger than my partner so I'd be ripping my partner's underwear of I am to wear it lol! On the other hand, mine would be too loose for my partner.
Would you always sweat profusely when talking to your partner or constantly forget what you were going to say? https://read.cash/@GarrethGrey07/choosing-your-partner-is-choosing-your-future-would-you-rather-8b252a5f#would-you-always-sweat-profusely-when-talking-to-your-partner-or-constantly-forget-what-you-were-g
I am already both so what is there to choose from? lol! Both are frustrating. Right now, my hands are sweating profusely because of the hot weather. Weather like this make we sweat a lot and it's uncomfortable and embarrassing. It's the same effect when I forget some things not just what I am going to say but I misplace things. I forget keys, names and even passwords that I use all the time.
But I'm not that much of a talker anyway so I'd rather choose sweating profusely for I have learned to live this condition anyway.
So there goes my answers. I hope you have great day ahead.
Sunday: Mother's Day
We don't celebrate events like this. It is only now that we are adults did we start celebrating events like mother's/father's day, valentine's day or any special day. I really am not one of those who are so keen about such celebrations. Sometimes it makes me wonder that we adapt this kind of culture because of what the media wanted us to do. It makes us consume more, spend more for stuff and food.
I'm not sure who wrote an article here but why do we make one day special and the rest not? Is it really showing our love for just one day enough? We don't act like we love them the rest of the days. Why not show love every day instead? After the one special day we go back to ignoring our loved ones.
This may have started as a rant but let's forget all about that lol!
How did you spend your mother's day?
A simple message to your moms will make their day. To those who have still moms out there, show them that you care. Show them your love every day. You don't have to shower them with gifts. Do it in your own way of making them know.
Of course I can't discount the fact that some have not that so good a relationship with their moms. Not only do we have to limit our greetings to our birth moms but also to those who have been there for us even if they are not related by blood.
So to all mothers out there, responsible ones or not, Happy Mother's Day to you all!
Earlier today, me and my partner visited my parents. There was a new cafe/bakery that opened near us. Even though I grew up there and have lived there, there are still things that are unfamiliar to me even though I get to pass them every day.
That is what happened today.
It says the address is right around our neighborhood but I'm not sure about the building. Good thing it was just right at our stop. I didn't know this building has a name. I am familiar with the names of the businesses there but not the whole building itself.
This is the new cafe/bakery that just opened yesterday. Funny thing is that to the left of this is a bakery and the right one is another cafe soon to open. Two doors to the left are yet two other cafes. There are more further down and across the street and yet all these cafes are filled with customers.
This particular cafe started as bakery and it's one of the biggest bakeries if not the biggest in town and the province. It was just recently that they started opening a cafe in the next city. It's only now that they opened a cafe here.
We bought pandan cake and chocolate landslide cake. We also bought watermelon along the way to my parents.
I like the chocolate cake. The brownies on top were not that sweet but the bottom part is where the sweetness is. I haven't had a taste of the pandan. I have had enough cake for the day.
Before we left, we brought home with us gifts from our brother and aunt and also bananas. The bananas were the ones we brought home from our road trip. It was only now that they have ripened.
When we got home, we rested and only now was I able to visit read.
So that is how our Sunday went. How was yours?

Keep going. You got this.
I read this post from Cleophia2. You can read her post here. Just click that blue lined thingy. https://read.cash/@Cleophia2/deep-and-provoking-question-to-ask-yourself-b03094db
As always, feel free to answer these questions too.
**Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?**
My younger self. I felt that when we are young we are more passionate and more aggressive. We are more idealistic and energetic. We have that drive, that sense of purpose. I felt like over time as I age, instead of like a wine that it gets better as the years go by, I was the opposite. I am at that level in my life right now emotionally and mentally. I know that it is up to me to change something. It's up to me to improve so that is a challenge I'm working on.
**What do you wish you spent more time doing five years ago?**
Traveling. I wish to see the world more. Not literally travel every country but at least get to experience different culture and tradition. Visit what a place can offer. In five years, I wish to be doing exactly that. I have mentioned in one of my post in hive this and I'm working on it.
**Do you ask enough questions or do you settle for what you know?**
I do but more of just in my mind. I have a constant debate going on in my mind. However, I don't know the question to ask most of the time so I only settle for what I know and let experience do the teaching.
**Is it possible to lie without saying a word?**
Yup. As I mentioned in a previous post, we lie even to ourselves. We wear masks for every different people. We don't like to acknowledge what we truly feel because we don't want to hurt others. We don't want to burden them of our concerns especially if we know that they are struggling just the same and to add stress to that could hurt them more. Sometimes, a smile and the eyes reveal the truth though.
**What makes you smile?**
Every little thing in life: Coffee, sunrise, morning, finishing my task, finishing an article, reading your articles and learning about your achievements, your comments, the sky, a hot weather, a rainy day, a meal, messages from friends and family, shelter, clothes, electricity, water. If we don't appreciate the good things in life, then we can never be happy and content. Yes, we can't ignore the negative things in life but we must learn to deal with them in a positive way. We have to learn to ride the tide.
**If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people what would your message be?**
I think I have just said that on my answer above. We live in a world right now where everything is noise. We have to learn to filter through those so as not to sacrifice our happiness.
**What do we all have in common besides the genes that make us human?**
The humanity in us. I still believe in the goodness of everyone. This is what makes me like online communities such as read. Even though we don't know each other, we don't even know how some look like, we still care and support each other. We try to help in anyway that we can. We are still literally strangers to each other even if we have been sharing our lives here every day. However, we have that created that connection, that bond that makes us care for each other and I would like to see more of that. So, I would like to say thank you all for your support. You are great people!
**Which is worse failing or never trying?**
Failing in trying. I have missed out a lot of great opportunities because of the fear of failing. I have learned from those and it's one of the things I am trying to be better with. Although I keep on saying life is about risks, I am a hypocrite for not trying. I am not a risk taker. I do take risks but not all the time. I like to take risks that I know I can manage the outcome of especially when things don't succeed in the end.
**What gets you excited about life?**
That something great is about to happen. I was in a dark state of mind before wherein I felt like there's nothing anymore out there for me. I felt like it's better to leave this world and that would be better for everyone too so they don't have to worry about me anymore. Good thing I have learned to overcome that. It was a long process and not an easy one but it took time for me to get over that emotional state. I am in a better place now where I don't have to deal with that anymore and I don't experience that. I have come to a realization that there are better things in life. I wouldn't have met read and learned about BCH for example. Now that BCH is here, what's next? Surely there are more out there that we can experience. So that keeps me excited about life. I haven't even met anyone of you yet. I would like to visit your place and learn more about you, see what you see, feel what you feel, taste what you taste, visit what you visit.
Whenever you feel that there is nothing more for you, that this is it, know that there are still a world out there we have to explore. It is easier said than done I know because sometimes we don't have the support. We don't have the means and resources but keep pushing on. It will be better. Find that little push, that little light to guide you through the darkness.
**What are you most grateful for?**
To be given chances. It's not always that we are given chances to all things but we have different paths to choose. Sometimes when plans don't align like we wanted, then take a different route. If your happiness and your being is sacrificed in the process, then learn to let go. It's time to move on to another road. Know that we can't have it all but we can still have other things that we thought we don't need to have or to experience but those are actually the better choices. We just didn't realize it at first. And that's okay. We learn as we go. Be grateful for little things.
What I have written here are things that you already know so this is just a reminder to us all.
Have a happy weekend!
Go green! I am green-minded. Are you?
This is my entry to ecotrain's question of the week. https://hive.blog/hive-123046/@ecotrain/question-of-the-week-105-share-a-story-about-one-of-your-favourite-nature-experiences-why-is-connecting-with-nature-important
https://3speak.tv/watch?v=leeart/sljoembc
I was actually planning to make a post about this once I am done with our Kalinga trip. There is one more post about it that I am supposed to write but then I read Jane's post about Ecotrain in hive. You can read Jane's post here. https://read.cash/@Jane/connecting-with-mother-nature-340e58bb
I also posted that same video in my youtube account.
You can check out my post in hive. https://hive.blog/hive-123046/@leeart/sljoembc
Whenever I see destruction that is sugar coated as development, I always wonder what kind of future are we leaving for our kids if we continue to do what we are doing now.
All around us are construction. Here in our neighborhood alone, a dozen of houses were put up since moving here. More and more are being constructed every day.
When some residents of the city learned that a mall is going to be constructed here in the city, many protested for hundreds of trees perished. It turned out to be biggest mall in the city. When people learned about its plan of expansion, they protested again to no avail for the mall successfully carried out its plan.
When an owner of a private land (where thick trees used to grow) decided to cut those and built a hospital there, it was met with protests even the mayor was involved in filing a case against the owner to no avail.
Although we have environmental rules and laws that one must follow, those are just pieces of paper it seems for the law has no teeth or claws.
Owners of private land can do what they wish on their land.
These are just the bigger fish. How about the small pieces of lands being sold every day and in place were houses built? More and more lands are being sold in the city and the surrounding areas. These are the ones that are making a huge impact much more so than the malls or hotels or hospitals. A piece of land here and there sold every day until all the lands have no more trees and in place where man-made structures. Do you know the movie Lorax? Try to watch that for that is what is happening now. Soon not only food or gas or water will be scarce but also fresh air.
Every house built should have at least one tree planted. Every property should have trees in them. What causes flood? Landslide? Climate change? When mountains and lands are used to be barren of man-made structures, when it rains, water is absorbed by the earth. We created roads and canals and gutters so water can easily flow. No earth to saturate just free flowing water.
We keep building roads such that we want to flatten all mountains it seems. We weaken nature thus causing landslides and erosions.
What are the consequences of these actions? Death and destruction.
So the question remains, what kind of future will you want your children to grow up to?
Bring BCH to MAYA!
Maya is another app/wallet here in our country that one can use to do bank transactions like deposit and bank transfer. You can also use it to send and receive money through other means, use it to pay online including bills, use it to top up your mobile load or data.
This is very convenient to use. It makes life easier with just a touch of your finger. Technology including the internet has come a long way.
This is one of the apps that I use and I honestly signed up because of the promotions they have. Every transaction that you do, you get a cashback like send and receive money, top up your account, load your phones, etc. unlike the other app that I was using which does not have this kind of promotions.
I was wondering when this app will jump in to crypto. I was actually hoping for the other app that I use because that is I think more popular in the country but until now I don't see any update regarding crypto.
I received an SMS message about Maya but I just ignored it. Not until I was browsing through my emails that I come across it.
I opened my Google Play app in my phone and searched for Maya only to realize that Paymaya has rebranded to Maya. I have an inkling that it was though.
As it states there, Maya is still in its early stage so I went ahead and checked the app.
Again, these photos are not mine. These were screenshots from the Maya app.
When I opened the app, I was prompted by the messages above. I wondered though why I can't access the app right away. I mean I have been using the same password but it didn't recognize it. I guess it's part of the upgrade. No worries though for I was able to set up a password pretty easily.
So far, these are the available tokens available in Maya that you can invest in. I only know, BTC, ETCH, USDT, ADA, UNI and SOL. Those are the tokens I am familiar with. I first encountered MATIC in @TengoLoTodo's post in hive. The rest it was my first time seeing them. I might have seen them before but it is only now that I get to notice them.
I don't have enough balance in my Maya wallet so I only bought BTC with what I have left in there just to see how it works.
One can buy crypto for as low PHP1.00.
I only have PHP12.74 left in my wallet. That was a cashback I received from some promo months ago. I then used that to buy some BTC.
Enter the amount you want to spend and the corresponding token value will appear. I entered PHP12.00 but it only processed PHP11.98. I think the transaction fee was deducted already.
That was really easy process.
On the home screen, there are missions or tasks that one can do if you want to earn points. The more points, the more chances of winning lol!
Just click on the Missions tile and it will take you different tasks with corresponding points.
The rewards I received were from transactions that I did using the app.
Here are the list of tasks that one can do to earn points. Some can be done every day but some are just limited within the promo period.
These are easy tasks but you still have to be careful about linking bank details in the app. If you are not comfortable and not that trusting, then don't do it. It's better to be safe than sorry.
I still haven't done all the tasks though. I hope I can do it before the promo ends which is on May 24, 2022.
To readers who are residing in the Philippines who don't have Maya account yet, feel free to check it out. Who knows you will be the next BTC millionaire. We can earn from referral too. My code is WY6QL0RRO3QR. You can use the app abroad but you still need a Philippine mobile number and address to register. https://www.maya.ph/refer
I have yet to explore the rest of the features of the this app but I'm impressed that they joining the cryptoverse. I hope with this cryptocurrency feature, the app will gain more users and investors in cryptocurrency and hopefully add BCH soon. For as low as Php1.00 you can buy crypto.
Remember, always do your research before making decisions.
For more information about Maya, you can check their website. https://www.maya.ph/
****LET'S BRING BCH TO MAYA!****
For Maya users, go to the feedback page. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=o4ZnnRtwjE2qY5GQ-dZ3Wyso_9LO1_xOsZs9WGLzAt1UNFg4VEk4V0Q2NFRSWjdRTFdCMzNKVVBTMy4u
On questions No. 5, click this one to give your feedback about the app.
Keep answering the succeeding questions until you get to this part:
Then continue answering the questions until you're done and then submit.
So I suggest my Filipino co-Maya users to do this now. If you don't have the app yet, then download the app now and let us bring BCH to Maya. I know we can do it. We have lots of readers using Maya I believe.
Don't hesitate. Give your feedback now and recommend BCH to be added to the app.
This is a perfect day for me - not a stressful one
Thanks again to joydigitalsolutions for these set of questions. She posted this here. Feel free to check out her answers to these questions. https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790
Let's begin.
What would be the absolute perfect day https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790#what-would-be-the-absolute-perfect-day
When the universe just lets things go by without stress or if there is, the stress is manageable, almost negligible.
When at work and everything goes smoothly without too much hassle, then that's a perfect day - achieving quotas or goals or finishing tasks easily.
If I went on a vacation with my loved ones or my partner or friends and everything goes as planned.
It would just be movie marathon the whole day and eat what I want.
Holiday on an island for free!
So a perfect day for me is a day that we can ignore the stresses easily and just go on about our plans with a smile on our face the whole day through.
What did you learn a little too late https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790#what-did-you-learn-a-little-too-late
Being late itself.
Going to appointments late. Submitting requirements late. Joining contests too late. Buying stuff too late. Getting up late. Going to bed late.
We all know that if we do things earlier, then we won't have regrets. If we wake up earlier, then we will accomplish a lot more.
We say that we don't have enough time it's because we don't manage our time well sometimes. We like to rather things in a rush which leaves us more stressed.
We all know that regrets come in the end yet we still don't change our ways.
What gross and unhygienic things do people do that bothers you? https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790#what-gross-and-unhygienic-things-do-people-do-that-bothers-you
Picking nose or ears with your fingers without wiping and then holding those same fingers to handles or surfaces that anyone can touch. Sneezing without covering the nose or mouth or if they do, they would use hand/s and then will not wipe or apply alcohol and then holding on to surfaces that anyone can touch. Spitting/urinating anywhere especially men. Guys, the world is not one big toilet. Go point your thingy in the right place.
I remember when I was younger, I see some schoolmates especially girls with long hair sucking the ends of clumps of hair and then smelling them? Like, what the H!
What habits do you have that annoy other people? https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790#what-habits-do-you-have-that-annoy-other-people
No idea. No one has told me any habit that I have that annoys them. Maybe not entertaining chats or calls? Lol! I do that a lot.
What do most people overestimate or underestimate about you? https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790#what-do-most-people-overestimate-or-underestimate-about-you
My silence? People don't understand that just because we don't have a say to things that we can easily be bossed around. I'm really easily swayed but that is because I want to see things through if it would beneficial for me too.
Being submissive can be interpreted by some as a weakness. However, be wary of the plans that are brewing behind those submissive minds for your actions will come to haunt you lol!
What do you most look forward to about getting old? https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790#what-do-you-most-look-forward-to-about-getting-old
Again, how old is old? Lol!
I look forward to still enjoy the things that I want without having to suffer from it physically.
What makes you nervous? https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790#what-makes-you-nervous
Earthquakes. Sudden loud noise. Commotion/war. Strong storms. An empty wallet especially when I needed to pay something. When I don't have enough time to finish a task. Sometimes I get nervous and anxious in closed spaces or in crowds. I also feel nervous when I have to pee so badly or poop to badly that I might not make it to the toilet in time.
How do you feel about pets and animals? https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790#how-do-you-feel-about-pets-and-animals
I do like pets. We grew up having dogs all the time. There was a time that our dogs died and some didn't come back home. It felt so empty not to have a pet greeting you when you come home. You get used to their barks or other sounds that not hearing them makes you wonder only to be reminded they are gone. So we quickly got dogs right away. Good thing there are those who are willing to let us adopt some of their dogs.
What is the biggest sign of weakness in a person? https://read.cash/@joydigitalsolutions/prompt-questions-random-edition-46646790#what-is-the-biggest-sign-of-weakness-in-a-person
When you look down upon people, treat them like nothing, abuse others, abuse your power and authority, hurt other people, disrespecting everyone and everything around you. Anger is a powerful emotion that we should always learn how to control.
We all are equal that's why we should learn to be more patient, understanding and accepting of others for who they are and who they are not. We have to spread more love and kindness and all that. Let us practice what we preach.
So there goes my answers to the questions above.
I hope you have a lovely day so far. It's now raining again here but not as strong like yesterday.
Come and join me for coffee.
Of rain, plans and a surprise
****Let's start with the surprise shall we?****
I was busy with work when suddenly one of my dear friends video called me. This friend rarely calls or chats but we are still friends. Good thing with working at home and with no one to supervise, you own your time and do your job quickly or slowly as long as you finish it in time.
Anyways, I answered her call and lo and behold she was with two of other great friends. I thought one of them already flew back to where he was working somewhere out there in planet Earth.
They were having lunch and I so wanted to go and be with them but they live some hours away from me. I then told them to go for a road trip and visit me here in our city. Unfortunately, that friend who works abroad will be traveling back to the capital and will be flying back to his work place tomorrow.
Oh well.
It was by chance that the other friend he is with saw him in the testing center so that is how they met with one other friend and took her out for lunch and then they called me. There were five of us back then that one can say the best of friends until this day. Sadly, the other one had a stroke just when pandemic hit. So two of my friends went to visit her after their lunch. The other friend had to go back to work.
We then had another video call when they arrived at our friend who suffered a stroke. Although she still can't walk properly, there was a huge improvement since her stroke.
I so miss these guys. Every so often I would go to the lowlands to be with them for a day or two. It was always worth the trip seeing them.
We may not see each other every day or chat or call each other that often, there is still that bond as strong as ever.
****Now for plans****
I planned on joining another set of questions to post but got lazy so I preferred to do random writing instead.
I finally was able to transfer some of my STEEM to BNB Vault. I have accumulated a few STEEM from being in Steemit before that I haven't touched and left it there and almost forgot all about it. Now that I am in hive.blog, it's where I am focused more on now. You may want to check my Mt. Talama post there. https://hive.blog/hive-163772/@leeart/sunrise-at-mt-talama
My plan is to transfer more STEEM to BNB Vault and not touch it. I had a few that I had been holding there for a few months but I had to withdraw that when we had to go for a road trip. Our aunt and family's vacation is coming to an end real fast so we make the most of it. We don't know when they will be vacationing again so I took the chance to go on a road trip with my brothers and cousins. Good thing I have something to pull resources from.
****It rained heavily this afternoon.****
The sky opened up with such a downpour with lightning and thunder accompanying it. The whole afternoon it rained but finally stopped.
We all know that the market is down and many have lost a lot. However, there are still lots of opportunities out there that seems to be waiting to be taken. I feel like I should start something but I just don't know how.
I cannot exactly tell which one to take but something inside me is telling me to start something. It's frustrating. It's been bothering me the whole day. I tried thinking about it if it was from what I have read in hive or something here in read but I just can't pinpoint which.
Have you ever felt like that? It's like an impending doom but this one is the opposite. Almost always my gut feeling is true but I ignore it that's why I missed out a lot of chances. However, right now, I don't want to ignore it but my instinct is telling me to do something BUT WHAT?!
I just can't erase this feeling right now.
Anyway, after I post this, I'll be back to mulling things over and see if I can figure this out.
When life gives you pandemic, make "pancit batil patong"
Pancit batil patong is a noodle (pancit) that originated from Tuguegarao City located in the valley of Cagayan, the northern part of the Philippines. The noddle used is miki (egg noodles) that may come in different thickness depending on who makes it.
It is mixed with minced/chopped vegetables and meat. The main meat used is usually carabao meat but it can be substituted with other meat mostly pork.
Batil patong is loosely translated as beaten egg on top. "Batil" means to beat an egg and "patong" is to place on top. However, the egg put on top of the noddle is not beaten.
I placed the additional chopped onions on top of my plate before realizing I haven't taken a photo of the food yet.
Also, the dish comes with an egg soup as you can see in the photo above.
There used to be a place that we like to eat this one for it was by far the most authentic that we have tasted. Also, it is worth every penny. The serving is a lot it could be shared between two people depending on how big or small of an appetite you have. It is packed with ingredients not just topped with it but also mixed in it. However, when pandemic hit, that business closed. When things slowly started going back to normal and we were craving for that one time, another business was already in its place.
We tried other businesses selling the same kind of pancit but nothing comes close to that.
Not until yesterday.
We were craving for batil patong. We could have ordered from the usual but then decided to search in fb to see if there are other choices. We found a post about this place located in the next town. According to the post, the owner who was a former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was here in the city but then COVID hit and lockdown was imposed. Instead of going home to Tuguegarao, she set up a business instead in the next town cooking pancit batil patong. https://www.facebook.com/groups/831305850787780/permalink/1025391788045851/
According to the comments there, it is better than one of the popular places here in the city that sells that kind of dish. So we tried our luck.
It was just one ride away from the city anyway, less than 4 km. It was easy to find the place for the post in fb gave enough directions to follow.
We were the only customers when we went there and waited no less than 10 minutes for our order to be cooked and served. It tasted as authentic as it can be. While it did not match the quantity that we were used to in the place that I mentioned above, the taste is good. I also like that the amount of saltiness in it was just right. For Php100.00 per serving, it was a great find.
We were satisfied and will surely go back.
With the little chat I had with the owner, she mentioned that they are making their own noodles (miki). They also have another branch somewhere in town which I am familiar with the place when she gave the directions.
That was our food adventure yesterday which was all worth it.
With what the owner have done, it reminded me of "whenever life gives you lemons, make lemonade" and that is what she has done. It is a reminder to us all that just because things don't go our way, we give up. We have to find ways to continue on with life. We take risks for that is what life is all about. It is all about risks, wins and losses.
Let us be resilient, resourceful and creative.
Monday morning choices
I have read this posted by Shyryl about a week ago I think. You can check that post here. Apparently, it was from Yzza0625 and also from BCH_LOVER. If I recall it right, it's my first time to read these choices from Shyryl's article. https://read.cash/@Shyryl/this-or-thatthings-i-prefer-in-travelling-6d4d74b3
Feel free to do this as well.
**Adventure/Relaxation**
I think both of these go hand and in hand but then again if you just want to go for a staycation and relax, then that could be an exemption. However, even when doing that, we could go for a food adventure meaning we will go hunt for new places we haven't been to or try food we haven't tried yet in places that we have been too or try the same kind of food but in different places we haven't tried those yet.
Talking about extreme activities, I would love to do those too and of course relaxation still go along with it. We all have different ideas how adventure is supposed to be. It could be physical activities or just gastronomic adventure or anything else. Adventures are those that make you feel curious, excited, in search for something and also discovery. That's why even a trip to a newly opened cafe near you is an adventure in itself.
That's why for me, adventure and relaxation are cohesive.
**Massages/Camp** https://read.cash/@Shyryl/this-or-thatthings-i-prefer-in-travelling-6d4d74b3#massagescamp
This is a hard choice. This also reminds me that I haven't done any of these two for a long time. Pre-COVID, we used to go to massage centers where the masseuse/masseurs are blind. I like availing of their service for their hands know what they are doing and hitting the right places. When pandemic hit, me and my partner would give each other massages but it's not the same as done by the experts. I'm still leery of going for a massage.
Camping on the other hand is another story. We rarely do that although we have planned a lot of times of doing it. Even if we don't do this often, I would say yes right away to camping.
If you are to twist my arm, then camping it is! And then I'll go for a massage after. How's that?
**Paragliding/Swimming** https://read.cash/@Shyryl/this-or-thatthings-i-prefer-in-travelling-6d4d74b3#paraglidingswimming
I'm not a good swimmer. I know a little bit but don't take me somewhere deep. I have a fear of drowning. I do like being in the water though like pools or sea. I'd go venturing into the deep but making sure I can easily hold go back to the shallow part or I have something to hold on to. However, if I have a lifejacket on, then that's a different story. You can take me to the deepest of the deep I don't care. I have my lifejacket on lol!
Paragliding on the other hand has always been something that I have always wanted. There used to be a company who tested paragliding in our town. I think the idea of putting up a business like that including hot air balloon has been abandoned. Maybe they think it was not that feasible. Honestly, I was looking forward to doing that right away once the business was set up. If only I have the money, then I'll set up such a business here including skywalk and bungee jumping.
So for this, paragliding takes the stand.
**Posh restaurant/Street Foods** https://read.cash/@Shyryl/this-or-thatthings-i-prefer-in-travelling-6d4d74b3#posh-restaurantstreet-foods
Street foods are served in posh restaurants but at a more expensive price of course. I would rather cook these so called "street foods" in the comfort of my home. I'm not that keen on trying street foods in other countries too. I remember when we visited the markets of Yangoon, there were fried crickets sold on the streets. My partner wanted to try but I refused lol! I saw other exotic food sold on their streets but I'm okay taking photos of them instead.
Going to posh restaurants is a hit and miss. I wanted to get the most of value for my money if I wanted to spend that is satisfying and delicious meal.
For this, I'd go for street food that are sold around here or I can cook on my own.
**Sea View/Forest View** https://read.cash/@Shyryl/this-or-thatthings-i-prefer-in-travelling-6d4d74b3#sea-viewforest-view
Go green! We all like the color of green, right? Just like green in the market and BCH green. I have lived in the mountains and seeing living with trees and greenery all the around me has become a part of me. I do love the sea for there's something relaxing about the waves and the sand and sun. You can take me to the beach anytime. Still, nothing beats home. I can get lost amongst the trees. Take me to a trail or hike and I'm game. The cool and fresh wind that the trees blow, the chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves, the creaks and other sounds produced by nature, the ground beneath my feet, the song of every insect and critters. These are all comfort to me. Vistas of mountains filled with trees are a joy to behold. We recently went on a road trip in Barlig, the last forest fortress of the north if not our country, and the winding roads of mountains filled with trees made the trip enjoyable. It makes me want to live there.
**Hotel/Apartment** https://read.cash/@Shyryl/this-or-thatthings-i-prefer-in-travelling-6d4d74b3#hotelapartment
If on a budget, then apartment will do. There are homestays that offer the same service like that of hotels. Our city is a touristy place and I can tell that apartments here are doing good in terms of accommodations. It can be a lucrative business. I'm surprised that even those far from the city center are doing good.
Having said that there are still affordable hotels if you plan ahead and are patient enough to search for them.
I remember when we used to travel more before, I would scour for hotel deals, vouchers and discounts. I have to download and install different apps just to acquire those for each app have different promotions. These are helpful if you didn't book ahead of your trip.
For this round, both wins. That is if you are smart in booking. I admit there are times when there are no promos available so we have to pay the regular rate but I can say we still get the value of our money.
These questions make me want to travel again. I miss traveling by plane or by bus. There's something about the rush of it all that is enjoyable or even the wait and delays.
Do you like to travel? I have to save for future travels and hopefully I get to see you on the road.
When plans are unfulfilled, better things await
Started the day with the plan of going to the Botanical Garden. I thought since it's early, the place will not be as crowded. I was wrong. On our way, we saw these police force doing community work throughout the city. We couldn't blame them if there are police work that they should be doing for we find them in the streets taking care of our trash. If only we learn how to throw our rubbish properly, then they should not be doing this.
Anyway, when we arrived at the gate of the garden, bam! People everywhere. Automatically my feet made a 180-turn. I'm not really that comfortable with crowds.
We had to walk from there to the nearest branch of my bank. I've been meaning to withdraw money to pay some bills but had been postponing it. Now that the due date is near, there's no other way but do it now.
We passed by this building but not exactly sure what it is. It's not yet finished though. This is across a hotel/mixed use property. I think they own this too.
This used to be a crypto cafe that I planned to try. I chatted them before if I can use BCH and they replied that I can. I just have to inform them beforehand if I plan to go so that they can contact the person who handles the crypto transactions. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to go there. Now, a different business took its place.
This is the entrance of the establishment where the branch of my bank is. I like the way they designed the roof of the entrance.
From there, we then headed to a cafe that we have been wanting to check since we saw someone's post online about it. The view there is great.
Unfortunately, it was closed. Their business hours are from Monday to Saturdays only. I kept checking their fb page and it says they are open at 10:00 a.m. That's why I was surprised that it was still closed when we got at half past 10 only to see their business hours posted by the gate.
We then had to walk to the main road where there are more rides.
This is the view from the cafe. Mt. Cabuyao can be seen from the cafe but at 10:00 a.m. it is already hidden behind the clouds.
I passed this along the sidewalk and couldn't help but take a photo of it.
As we continued walking, we passed by this cafe. We were hesitant to try it at first. We had to walk back actually to check it out and glad that we did. I think it is way better than the first cafe that we originally planned to go to earlier. I'll be writing more about it later but for now, you can enjoy this video that I made. That is my channel by the way. Feel free to connect with me there although I don't really check my account there that much.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwE2-HkTh3o
Satisfied with our find, we then walked again to where we could get a ride to town to check out Session Road.
Every Sunday, this is closed to vehicles and stalls are installed where different goods are being sold. We saw a lot of consumables, plants and rabbits too. The sellers seem to be growing in numbers just like the rabbits.
Of course, pavement chalk drawings are present too. As you can see, not all who use the pavement draw something. Some just write stuff there.
I like this last one a lot because of how realistic it looks. So many talents in the city!
Before, more portions of the road were used for chalk drawings but now just a portion of it is provided for this activity. Anyone can draw or write. Everyone is welcome to participate.
We then bought some rice delicacies which we always end up buying whenever we pass by here on Sundays. The products sold here are the usual stuff and there's nothing new this time so we decided to go home.
Once home, I had to rest for my colds got worse. I have a head cold and the air I breathe out through my nose is hot and uncomfortable it tears me up. I still had to do some tasks though but good thing it was just for an hour or so before finally surrendering myself to sleep so now I am going to write blogs here and in other platforms and stay as long as I can before going to call it a day.
Thanks for dropping by. Until the next blog!
Thankful for April showers
Here goes my earnings for this month here in read.
I had a total earnings of worth USD212.20 with an average of USD6.85 per article. I was able to write 31 articles. There are times that I wrote two articles a day. As you know, I wanted to meet the 365 articles in a year. I started late since the first few months I have not been that active. That's why I am playing catch up. I should have written more. However, I was not able to write for three days I think because we were on vacation that time. When its vacation, enjoy every moment being offline. Why spoil it? Good thing I did write more than once a day on some days for if I didn't, I would've written less than 30 articles.
My earnings this month is actually lower than last month by some USD7.00. That's a big difference already but it's all good. I'll try and do better next time.
Of the USD212.20, I only got USD135.00. I have to withdraw USD100.00 about halfway through the month because some materials are needed to be bought. These are electrical stuff that is to be installed in the house. However, until now, the guy who was supposed to install those is still busy. The rest of that was distributed to you all and the USD35.00 is left in my wallet.
Note though that in order to complete the USD100.00 at that time, I have to combine what I have earned in noise to come up with that amount.
I have accumulated 970 likes, 1388 comments/replies and 1766 people have seen those articles.
I'm trying to make a more detailed report regarding my monthly performance here so I added those numbers.
I have also increased the number of my subscribers. I now have 507.
**Black pen and black coffee** had the most number of earnings at USD15.82. https://read.cash/@ARTicLEE/black-pen-and-black-coffee-0422d842
**You can't trust me with your money. Today I lost USD19.41** had the most number of likes. https://read.cash/@ARTicLEE/you-cant-trust-me-with-your-money-today-i-lost-usd1941-b1415715
**To have a peaceful mind** has the most number of comments/replies. https://read.cash/@ARTicLEE/to-have-a-peaceful-mind-4c307957

I am now 10 months here in read and I'm nearing my one year. Time flies really quickly and I'm still thankful that read is still going strong.
In other platforms, I started writing there too.
A place for coffee and campfire was noticed by the curators and it was featured in their list. You can check it here. To be noticed or mentioned or featured is enough for me. That helps in boosting my articles and to bring traffic to my articles as well. https://hive.blog/hive-163772/@leeart/a-place-for-coffee-and-campfire https://hive.blog/curangel/@curangel/curangel-curation-compilation-april-19-2022
So imagine my happiness. I was more than thrilled when our trip to Buscalan made it to the top three of pinmapple's travel digest! That was also my first time to upload a video in 3speak. You can check the list here and discover wonderful places to travel. There are so many great writers there just like here in read that's why to be recognized lifts the spirit. It's hard to be recognized there because of the number of writers. I don't mind though for I am not looking for recognition but to be included once in a while is a pleasure for sure. https://hive.blog/hive-163772/@leeart/vvizhizw https://hive.blog/hive-163772/@pinmapple/travel-digest-1540
Simple pleasures like these make writing in hive a more fun experience. This is what I miss back in Steemit.
For my other activity outside the virtual world, I have not been able to get back to doing my walking routine since last week. I hope I can start that again tomorrow. However, when we were on vacation, we did a lot of walking that have not been recorded in my actifit or sweatcoin apps. There was one time though. I didn't bother recording since I will not be able to upload it anyway for phone networks in most of the places we have been to is weak to none. Plus, I have to conserve my battery's phone for I have used it a lot in talking photos and videos.
Also, I was happy to tick off one of the places in my list that I wanted to visit - Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga. Hoping for more travels soon!
How about you? How are your earnings for this month of April?
Next month's goal is to continue writing one a day or probably two. More travels maybe but I would have wanted more investments. Let's see what the next month will bring.
Lie, cheat, cry but most of all take risks or not.
I read this from Amaranth97's post. You can read that here. This gave me the idea to answer these questions too. https://read.cash/@Amaranth97/random-questions-for-all-0513bc82
Feel free to do the same.
***Why do you lie?***
Because I can? Lol!
I lie to save my ass. I lie to get out of a situation. I lie just to finish a conversation. I lie so I can avoid people.
I also lie to prank others. I used to be very sarcastic and that is lying too. I also lie to myself most of the times telling myself that it's okay when it's not.
I may sound pretentious but for a person who is introverted, making things up is the easiest route. Don't worry. I am not a pathological liar. I only do it when I am uncomfortable with the situation and the people.
***Did you cheat?***
Based on the question above, yes. Lying is cheating too.
I cheated in school but not in relationship.
I also cheated death for I have been in multiple accidents and yet I am here.
I'm not invincible. I'd like to think that though.
***To whom did you cry?***
My friends when I was drunk. You know what alcohol can do. It brings out the worst and best in you. I also cried in front of an ex and my partner. A guy crying is not something to be ashamed or embarrassed about. It just shows how attached we are to our feelings. We have feelings too. By now, we all know that crying is not a sign of weakness. So to all the guys out there, it's okay to cry.
***What are your thoughts about your existence?***
That there is something so much more out there for me to experience. I'm still in pursuit of my purpose in life. Finding your true person is tough. We may say that we have found it but that is according to our desires and wants. But what is the real purpose? What if the things you shunned away from, the things that you ignored are your true calling instead of what you are doing now? You love what you do right now but is it your true purpose? It's a constant battle that I get to ask myself all the time.
***How often do you eat street food?***
I can't remember the last time I ate street food. Are rice delicacies considered street food? We bought some that were sold on the streets of Bontoc lol! Literally, a food sold on the street. We used to buy grilled food from a store nearby but then they stopped selling late last year. We bought from them several times a month maybe once every two weeks or more.
***Are you in a good relationship?***
With my creator, yes! With my family, yes! With my partner, absolutely! With my selected close friends, yes! With my landlady, yes! With the people around me, in general, yes!
I have a best friend who don't talk to me all of a sudden since last year, ignoring my calls or chats. I may have an inkling of what is the cause but since he is not responding or entertaining my calls or chats, then I am left in the dark. I still consider him by friend.
***Have you been scolded by someone?***
Yes but not recently. I think it was my partner who scolded me last but I can't remember what it was all about lol!
***Do you eat breakfast or not?***
Certainly. Not just any kind of breakfast but mostly I like eating big breakfast. I am a morning person and eating breakfast keeps me energized throughout the day.
***Can you accept changes?***
Not right away but eventually I do. Some things are hard to accept especially losses. For example, the loss of our grandfather last January is still a pain that is hard to move on from. I have separation anxiety when it comes to my salary. As much as I don't want to use that to pay bills or to use it in something important, still it must be done. Things in life changes quickly especially now. I can't believe we are at the end of the month. Daily changes occur that we don't want to happen but it did. However, we should learn to accept them because there's nothing that we can do about them but to adjust and adapt.
***Are you financially viable?***
Right at this moment, no. I can sustain myself daily and can afford to spend some but when emergency or other factors that need huge amount of finances, then I can't afford that. If only we haven't had some incidents in the past that required a lot of money, until now actually, then I could say I can be financially stable. However, we just don't think about ourselves. We have other people to think about.
***What causes/d you to take risk?***
I think that is how the question is supposed to be. Anyway, it's for the betterment of myself and others. That is the main reason that I take risk. Maybe for experience, yes. In general, I'm not a risk taker, maybe calculated risks? Then again, every day we take risks even in simple things.
Have you found similarities with the answers above?
Anyway, it's now the end of the month and soon we will all be making our reports. I'm looking forward to reading yours.
A visit to Bulanao Public Market
For more about our visit in Tabuk City, you can check it here. https://read.cash/@ARTicLEE/a-glimpse-of-bulanao-tabuk-city-b045361d
From Mt. Talama where we had a view of the sunrise, we headed to the shop of my brother's schoolmate. Unfortunately, there was a death in the family so she had to go back home where her family is.
We had coffee and donuts. I was pleased that their coffee is drip coffee and it is locally sourced. I was asking my companions to place one foot around the table but some were not up to it.
Anyways, we finished our coffees and donuts and then headed to the public market. My only agenda: Kalinga coffee.
We also have to buy fish and other stuff for our breakfast, more like brunch since coffees and donuts were enough.
My other who lives there accompanied us to the market as well.
Upon entering the market, the strong aroma of coffee is already in the air. Sacks of coffee are displayed in most of the stalls that we passed. I felt like I'm in cloud nine already. The aroma alone set me in a good mood. Aside from coffee, tobacco is another product that can be seen here.
But first, breakfast.
The fish section or the wet market is located towards the back part of the market, at least from where we entered. There are various entrances to the market.
Not all the stalls are opened yet. Unlike in our city that by this time all stalls are open and it's a busy market.
Live tilapia fish can be seen in big thick plastic basins. I was not able to picture the whole thing but placed above the basin is a pail with holes in it where water goes out. The vendor will then use a dipper to get water from the basin and put it back in the pail. I noticed all the vendors do that. I'm sure there's a reason behind it but I forgot to ask. Maybe to imitate flowing water? I can only assume.
There was also frozen squid placed on top of a chair. The vendor said it was just delivered that's why it's still frozen.
I also saw this sign. It roughly states that the market is the livelihood of the people. I think there was an issue about developers and those who own lots in the market. It seems like a mall is to be built here.
I was not sure how much was the fish for I was busy taking photos. It was my companions to bought most of the stuff. I was asked to buy oil and fish paste. The plan is to fry the fish and then add onions and tomatoes. Then chili will be cooked in fish paste. All that will be eaten with rice of course.
I bought two bottles of cooking oil for PHP40.00 a piece and then a bottle of fish paste which costs PHP60.00. From this stall that I bought those from, they do have coffee too but we decided to buy from another stall.
These are different kinds of smoked pork which is a common product sold in the markets of the Cordilleras. Mostly those sold in our market are displayed in the open and not packed.
Wines, dried fish, legumes, coconut oil and sticky rice can also be seen in the market. I posted these photos in my social media account and my sister commented that we should have bought legumes. I do love legumes myself but at that time, I was not really focused on that for the power of coffee is strong.
We bought 4 kilos of this powdered coffee at PHP200.00 a kilo. I only bought one kilo. My other brother bought one as a gift to his girlfriend. My cousin bought one as a gift to his mom and our friend bought one to bring home. My other brother didn't buy because he doesn't like this one and would prefer the not powdered like this. We couldn't find any other coffee sellers who has a different form of coffee. The vendor said that these were freshly delivered.
These are rice delicacies that were just delivered to a stall across where we bought the coffee. I bought some of those. I forgot the particulars but all in all it was under PHP200.00. These are made from sticky rice. The vendor had no time yet to display them properly when I bought some.
We then headed home to our cousins with our purchases.
If you are in hive, join the Market Friday Community and post once a week about your local market or anything where you spent your money.
Fear, Explosion, Coffee
When is too much, too much?
Coffee is part of life of most people but I didn't realize it is most commonly seen in the Cordilleras. This was particularly so when we went to Mountain Province and in Kalinga. Most of the places there are hot not like what we are used to in Benguet and Baguio City.
I thought I was a coffee addict but I'm guess I'm not.
Apparently, coffee is offered and served to visitors anytime of the day be it morning or during the day, be it on a cold day or even under the sweltering heat of the sun.
When we went from one house to the other, coffee is served. Mostly brewed though. There's only one household who served instant coffee. Even that can't be shunned away from.
I feared that if we don't stop visiting houses, there might be an explosion. You know, rectally (sorry for those who are eating while reading this), due to soo much coffee.
I think I have had enough coffee that lasts me a week or so. The past three days have been spent drinking lots of coffee in addition to lack of sleep.
We bought coffee from a public market that we went to. The aroma of coffee fills the air as we enter the market. Sacks of powdered coffee line the way. It really is tempting to buy a lot of it. A kilo costs Php200.00. When we got to our cousin's house, she informed us that those sold in the market are not pure. Some of those are mixed with corn or rice. I guess that's the reason why they are in powder form. However, I still think that is okay if corn and rice are added.
She then brought us to another seller nearby that sells pure coffee. The seller sells those in powdered form too but they are darker in color than those sold in the market. We bought some of those too.
When we went to visit other cousins of ours, they too served coffee. They have almost the same taste but more sweeter than our other cousin's. I still preferred the one without sweetener.
When we tried the coffee we bought from the market, all of my companions didn't like it without sugar for it was too strong for their taste. I on the other hand was wondering if there's something wrong with my taste buds for I find the taste okay.
This is the last stop and the last coffee during our vacation.
It was at this point that I was thankful not having had another cup of coffee. Since we bought coffee from the market, the smell of it is overpowering as it fills the entire vehicle.
Another fear I have had was dizziness and yet another explosion, vomiting (again, excuse me). Just the aroma of coffee made me feel nauseous as if the ever winding road is not enough to turn one's stomach into knots.
I did try drinking coffee today but I was only able to finish one cup. I'm still lightheaded. I'm not sure if it was from lack of sleep but I slept the whole day yesterday or was it over sleeping? Maybe it was from all the traveling that we did. Maybe it was from the coffee.
I guess I have to lie low from drinking coffee for now.
Meh. Maybe not. As what @yhanne said in her article, face your fear!
I got this idea from Jelena's article. You can read about that here. Click on this link to generate words for you. For this site, three nouns are generated for you as prompts. https://read.cash/@Jelena/three-random-nouns-1cc9765d https://writingexercises.co.uk/take-three-nouns.php
I have already been thinking about coffee earlier so I guess it's providence that these words were generated as prompts. I guess this is the power of attraction?
Anyway, this photo below is a screenshot from the site that I used to generate the words that I included in what I have written above.
A glimpse of Bulanao, Tabuk City
It's so good to be back here Bulanao, Tabuk City in the province of Kalinga. I have not been here for a long time and I believe it was less than 20 decades ago since the last time I was here. During the few visits that I had back then, I have never been to the market of Bulanao. The photo above was taken during our early visit to the market after coming from a sunrise viewing.
Me and my good friend would spend some weekends at their place in Bulanao. They were from another barangay there called Dagupan but then moved to Bulanao and finally moving to another province.
We arrived late the previous night from another relative's house which was an hour or so away. We were planning to spend the night there but since we have to bring some relatives who were with us to Tabuk, we decided to stay at our cousins there instead. The house where we dropped off our relatives was not that far from our cousins. The barangays they were in were just neighbors.
After dropping our relatives, we then headed to our cousins' place. I will get lost if I will go there alone for it was really different from how it used to be. The roads are paved. Houses are concrete and there are lots of them now. Even our cousins have their own houses built within their property.
Because it was late, we immediately washed and rested that night. It was only our one cousin who entertained us that time.
The next morning, we headed out early to greet the sun in one of the places high enough to see the sunrise and get a glimpse of Tabuk and the surrounding mountains.
That guy in the photo above was not me. It was a friend who was kind enough to model for me. I was trying to capture the background as well with him included in the photo but you can only take a better photo of the background or the foreground.
Our brother who lives there with his family was the one who suggested for us to visit Talama where you can see the sunrise. You only have to pay PHP20.00 for the entrance fee. It was providence that we missed that place. Good thing there were some people there that we were able to ask for directions. They told us that we missed it some 20 meters down but then suggested that we go to the radio station instead for we can also view the sunrise from there which was just a few meters from us that time. We thanked them and headed to the radio station which was starting to open.
The dj at that time was kind enough to let us on the property and take pictures behind the station. We had a bit of a chat with him and learned that he is studying in Baguio City but was just here for vacation.
The photos above were not enough to justify the beauty of the sunrise. The phone's camera is limited in its performance so we just feasted our eyes.
You can quickly feel the warmth as the sun rises. It surely was a hot weather that we were not used to. Still, it was an enjoyable visit.
We headed to the market and bought fish for brunch. Our cousins have mangoes, coconuts and bananas on their property which we picked to bring home. They grow abundantly here that some are just neglected falling off from their trees. Our cousins were glad to share those blessings to us.
This was taken behind the houses of our cousins. The structures under the trees were pigpens. I'm not sure how big is the property of our cousins. This used to belong to our late paternal grandfather. He was able to acquire huge properties while he was still alive that his children inherited and now passed on this grandchildren.
If we know how to take care of our land, then it will take care of us even more.
Our stay lasted for not even 24 hours for we had to head back home. I will be posting more later on about our visit to the province of Kalinga.
Thank you for dropping by. Until the next blog!
Kingdom of Fog and Light
In the kingdom of fog and light live the joyous and happiest people on earth. It’s a magical place one could never imagine existed. It is between the where the sun rises and where the mist and fog meet. You only get to see this kingdom at the right moment.
Like in a dream, when you see it, you will soon forget all about it. It only lasts as long as the light and fog meet.
Anyone can go there. How do you get there you may ask. It is through your mind. If you think and wish hard enough, if you really desire to go, you will find yourself there. No one is sure how exactly but they will just find themselves teleported there.
So Narnia-like it seems.
Those who can manage to go were given a choice if they want to stay or not. If you choose to stay, you will be there for life. There’s no going back. If you choose to stay, your existence outside the kingdom is not erased. Those who know you will know that you are in that kingdom. How? It’s a mystery but they’ll know.
Those who have been there and wanted to go back couldn’t do it anymore no matter how much they tried. Their desires have been tainted. They wanted more.
Then the kingdom started to be seen less and less.
You see this kingdom of fog and light exists because of nature. Soon the destruction of nature, of trees, of rivers, the pollution in the air, the destruction we called development, made the kingdom shun itself from the outside world.
In order to protect itself, it only reveals itself to those who have been tainted yet by greed but are more concerned about nature. Even so, even if you have a heart in one with nature, the kingdom can only show itself but can’t take you in because it cannot heal you from what the world has done to you.
So for now, the kingdom is as elusive as a distant memory you can’t recall as much as you want to but you just can't.
I was supposed to submit this for a prompt in another site but realized it's not appropriate. I did not read it properly when I wrote this one so why not post it here instead.
This was taken in one of my walks and might have posted it here or in other site. I was reminded of Earth Day so I came up with this. We really should do what we can more than ever to preserve the resources that we have. Plant more trees. Plant what you can eat. Reduce your carbon footprint. Recycle. Reuse. We all know all these. Let's put them to practice.
I will be offline for this weekend, maybe two days or more. So I am just posting this and then be signing off.
I hope you all have a great weekend!

Is it too early for this?
I've been reading these questions posted by others. Let me try to explore my spooky and murderous mind if there is. Note that these are just for entertainment purposes only.
Let's start.
*****Have you ever said Bloody Mary in front of a mirror?*****
I may have. I'm really not sure. What I'm sure about is that I have heard, read and/or watched about this when I was younger and naturally, out of curiosity, I may have done it. Nothing happened for it didn't stick with me for if there was, then I'm sure it's not something I will not forget that easily.
*****If you were to commit a murder, how would you go about it?*****
Slow death by torture. I would skin the person/s alive using a nail clipper. I'd do it somewhere remote where no one else can hear us. If not, then dip them in a boiling water/oil bit by bit.
*****Have you ever had an unexplainable experience with the supernatural?*****
I haven't. There may be some weird experiences but not with the supernatural.
*****In your opinion, what is the most brutal way to die?*****
Slow torture to death. To feel unexplainable every possible pain there is. That I believe is the most brutal way to die. That's why when I die, I wanted a painless and quick death.
*****Which horror movie scarred you for life?*****
I have watched a lot of horror movies but one local movie that I watched when I was a kid was entitle "Patayin Sa Sindak Si Barbara." It's about a haunted doll/doll house. It gave me nightmares for a long time. It even haunted me when I first saw a fetus in a jar when I was in secondary school. We went to the lab and there was a fetus in a jar. That fetus and the movie came back to my dreams. It was the worst nightmare ever. Over time, it gradually had less effect on me but up to this day I am uncomfortable with dolls and statues.
*****Which horror movie murder did you find the most disturbing?*****
I find them all disturbing. The thought of murdering someone is already disturbing how much more when acting upon it.
*****What is the scariest Halloween costume you have ever seen?*****
I'm not one to be scared by costumes for I know they are not real or I haven't seen one yet that scared me.
*****Would you consider tasting human flesh for $100?*****
If I am aware that that is human flesh, then no. What you don't know won't kill you, right?
*****Would you agree to participate in a seance?*****
Sure. Who knows I might find the experience to my liking and make a living out of it. I am not aware if seance is being practiced in our city though.
To have a peaceful mind
This is part two of Khairro's questions that he posted some days ago. I have already answered the first part and posted that. Now here is the second.
You can check out the complete set of questions here. https://read.cash/@Khairro/nothing-to-write-then-answer-this-final-part-af93ecc1
***What city you can see yourself living in?***
Still it's the city I'm in - Baguio City. It's not perfect but it's home. There's no place like home not unless it's not an ideal home you grew up in. If I have to be forced to choose other than my city, I will choose Vienna or any other city in Austria. Love the architecture and the mountain ranges there too.
***Have you ever enjoyed museums? Which?***
So far, the museums have been to are the museums we have here in the city which showcase different tribes here in the Cordilleras. I like the newer one which is located in one of the universities.
***What was your childhood dream job?***
To be a doctor. Overtime, that dream changed. I can't remember what changed.
***What is your spouse's ideal height range?***
I'm okay if taller than me or shorter than me but not extremely so. A foot or two maybe.
***What is the best thing to say to break up?***
We don't want to wish ill to someone so I'd still hope for the best life for the other person.
***Would you call your future full of dreams or full of goals?***
I have an ultimate dream but I have lots of goals. Our everyday life is filled with goals. I think that will not change in the future.
***First celebrity crush you remember?***
I can't remember. I do admire the beauty of all celebrities for they all are unique.
***What is the cutest dog breed?***
The dog that likes me lol! Every dog has their cute moments. We do have shih tzu puppies at home and I do find them the cutest at the moment.
***What's your favorite Greek god?***
I can relate more to Poseidon - the god of the sea. That is one moody guy and I can be like that lol! Calm one moment and wrathful the next.
***Do you have more girl or guy friends?***
It's the same amount I believe.
***Do you have the same political view as your parents?***
Yes, we do. Not all the time though but majority yes.
***What's your favorite part about your house?***
I want a toilet that is clean. If that part of a home is clean, then I believe the rest will be so. Next is bedroom and kitchen. Those two are equal in standing.
***Favorite Disney Movie?***
There's a lot and I think it changes. I can list of movies that I grew up watching but you can find them here. I was surprised of the movies listed there like the Marvel movies. Turns out Disney bought Marvel according to this article. https://d23.com/list-of-disney-films/ https://www.toynk.com/blogs/news/when-did-disney-buy-marvel
***What's your favorite chore? Least favorite?***
Washing dishes is the chore I like doing most. I'd rather do that all day than do other things. Doing the laundry is my least favorite. It hurts my back for I do the laundry manually.
***What do you believe is the afterlife?***
Based on the Bible teaching when we the saved are in the new earth.
***Are you the favorite child?***
I didn't feel that way. We were all treated the same way accordingly.
***What's your thought on pranks?***
Sometimes they are entertaining but pranks carried out to elders especially like surprising them can end up in a bad way.
***What do you need to sleep at night?***
A peaceful mind and a content heart. Starting your day and ending your day with gratitude goes a long way.
There goes my answers for today. Feel free to answer them too and make a post about it.
The rain brought hail
*****Control your emotions*****
It seems the heavens is releasing its emotions today just like what happened earlier. I again went to my grandparents' house to be with family. Everything went well until after lunch when the children of our grandparents gathered and discussed things.
Then emotions ran high and discussions got heated. Frustrations were vented out. It is quite normal at a stressful time that we can't control our emotions. We hold grudges that could ruin relationships. It may be a small matter to others but a huge one for others. That's why we have to sort out misunderstandings for we are not perfect. It is a continuous learning process for everyone.
A small mistake may not even be the fault of the person you are holding a grudge. That person may not even know the reason why you despise him.
A while ago, revelations were revealed from different parties that the others are not aware of. That's why it is important to communicate properly your feelings and concerns so it will be addressed right away. Don't let things get out of hand by telling your concerns to those who are not involved with whatever you have issues with.
Especially within a family or your spouse, better to address them right away amongst yourselves.
If you are really concerned about others and wanted to keep the relationship, communicate with each other. Settle your misunderstandings and don't hold grudges that you will regret the rest of your life.
Choose peace, happiness and let love reign. Humble yourselves and forgive and forget.
*****Doing our part to support our candidates*****
What do you do in promoting your candidates?
Our election is happening next month. Posters are everywhere. I just hope that those supporters of whose face are there will be as diligent in removing those when election ends. These candidates and their supporters will go to every corners of their jurisdiction just to extend their reach. That is why posters can be seen everywhere.
A friend posted in facebook that they put up a poster on their gate of the presidentiable that they are supporting. The next day, they found that poster on the ground. What's puzzling are two shells of eggs. The suspicion is that someone who doesn't support that candidate threw eggs on the poster and forcibly took that down. Is the poster a threat physically to you that you have to do that? Why are people so mad about a poster? My friend decided to put the poster on their roof.
Another friend was asked through messenger regarding the worth of her vote. The person who sent that unsent it but before my friend screen captured it and posted that online of course blocking out the person who wanted to buy her vote. How much is your worth?
While we were waiting for our ride going to town, a supporter of a certain candidate was distributing pamphlets, masks, rubbing alcohol and candies. Even though we are not voters in that said district, she said to spread a good word about her candidate and encourage those we know from that district to consider her candidate.
*****We like gifts. Who wouldn't?*****
Speaking of freebies, for the past days that I have been going to our grandparents' house, our aunt would distribute chocolates to the delight of all. These were just some that I was able to haul. Except for the Lotte, the small brown ones at the bottom for that was bought by my partner.
It's a fact that we Filipinos would expect gifts from relatives who came to pay a visit either locally or from overseas. I personally don't expect gifts but of course I would be grateful if I have received some. Most of the chocolates that were distributed were given to the kids. One of our aunts would grab a lot and then disburse those to the kids without her knowing that those kids have already hauled a lot.
Just a few minutes after I got home, the sky opened up and rain and hail fell down. Emotions and blessings in our lives are like the rain. Sometimes it's strong but quickly passes. Sometimes it's light but lasts longer. Sometimes it rains even if the sun is shining. Sometimes a rainbow appears too.
Life is full of surprises but best of all, focus on your blessings.
Final goodbye. The inevitable.
What can I say? Nothing lasts forever except "nothing." Change is constant and with change comes the end of things - for this matter, life.
Seeing the remains of our grandfather placed in his tomb it's like mourning him for the second time.
For the last time, a service was held earlier today, a service of comfort for the family. It's an emotional day. I was trying to hold back tears and trying to keep it in. We were joking and laughing throughout the day but behind all those was sadness.
I was not there yesterday. Last night was the bulk of the preparation for food. Pigs and chicken were butchered as was the custom. Other food was also prepared. I didn't take photos for I would rather focus my time with relatives and the family.
Emotions ran high especially so because alcoholic drinks were involved. Family drama is always present in times like this. We all know how it goes. As much as we want harmony, there will always be those who likes arguments and cause trouble.
Why can't we not think of ourselves for once? Even for just one day. Why is one day so hard to sacrifice for our family? You were not there when they are alive. Yes, there's no use for showing concern when they passed for they can no longer see and feel it. However, humble yourselves for once. Don't let pride and ego rule you. The world does not revolve around you.
I woke up really early today, maybe two hours than my usual time of work and did some tasks then prepared myself and headed to our grandparents' house. Everyone was busy doing the final preparation for the day's event. Those who were there last night relayed what happened. It was saddening to hear but we just laughed it off. We don't want that to tarnish the memory of our grandfather.
The program started around 10:00 a.m. Us grandkids are supposed to sing a closing song to end the service. However, I didn't join for we were busy preparing with the food. Also, I'm afraid I can't hold back and open the flood gates.
After the service, we ate and then rested. Most of us then gathered and headed to the cemetery which was some 1-2 kms away. However, the other half of the way is all uphill such that only those who are strong enough to hike went, mostly the younger ones.
Another short program was held there before finally placing our grandfather's remains in the tomb together with some of his belongings as was the custom. The urn where his ashes are was sealed shut but our grandfather's brother instructed that it should be opened to release the spirit of our grandfather and not be kept shut. They had to use a saw to make an opening and not totally opening the urn.
When the program was done, the rest went back home but we stayed until the finishing touches to the tomb was done before heading back home.
Those who came back from the cemetery should wash their hands in a basin where guava leaves were soaked in warm water as is the custom, washing away the bad luck. Candles should be lit continuously during the vigil to guide the spirit of the departed. Before the candle burns out, you should light another one.
These are just some of the superstitious beliefs that are still practiced today.
At the end of the day, it was tiring but being there for each other, doing what you can to help made the day worth it. Today, I get to be with our relatives that I haven't seen in a long time or just meeting for the first time.
There is still that bond that is within us.
To those who have lost a loved one, a friend, a relative, live in the beautiful memories that you have with them. Find comfort among those left behind. Take time to mourn. Grieve. It's not easy moving on but find strength in the bond that you have.
It's time to SWEAT it out!
*****Before anything else, note that all photos used in this post were taken from my***** *****Sweatcoin app**********.***** https://sweatco.in/app/race/leeart/201
I opened my Sweatcoin app earlier and saw these notifications pop up. Apparently, Sweatcoin has joined the crypto wagon and released their own token called SWEAT. https://sweatco.in/app/race/leeart/201
There is no specific date yet as when is the launching but early users are being given SWEAT tokens and they are matching the amount of Sweatcoins you have earned so far.
My balance as of the moment is this.
For every 1,000 steps that you make, you get to earn 1 Sweatcoin. The balance I have in my app has been accumulated over the months that I have been using this app. I have been mentioning Sweatcoin here in read and in noise. Before, I can't find a way to redeem my earnings other than through vouchers from eBay or Amazon. Since I don't utilize those, I was not able to earn from my it. https://sweatco.in/app/race/leeart/201
However, there are other ways that you can use your Sweatcoin and that is through donation to charities. That is what I did with my previous balance before my current one. I donated all those to charities.
Then I started earning again and decided to hold since I can't find the right charity to support. What's more, there are other means that I can help and that is by joining the challenges in the app. If these challenges are accomplished, Sweatcoin with donate a certain amount for the cause that is what the challenges are for.
So when I got the notification above, I just followed the prompt in creating a wallet.
Unfortunately, there are countries that are excluded from using Sweatcoin. Curious that USA, China and the rest of the countries mentioned above are excluded.
I found out from this site that Sweatcoin is London based. Furthermore, according to that site, the currency of Sweatcoin is built on Etherium and its blockchain provider is NEAR. https://www.altfi.com/article/9107_sweatcoin-eyes-launch-of-sweat-tokens-that-turn-movement-into-money
It is also mentioned that SWEAT can be converted to other crypto or fiat and there will be staking too. There has always been the idea of crypto as reward but it is only now that that idea came into fruition.
As stated in the photo above, your first 5,000 steps every day will be equivalent to 1 SWEAT. For sure you will be able to buy SWEAT tokens but the main purpose of this app is to encourage users to move and that their steps will be paid. That's the reason why apps like this are created. We have to keep moving to stay fit. We all know that exercise is important in our lives. We all know how beneficial exercise is.
So if you like to walk just like me, why not join Sweatcoin and let your steps be incentivized? Walking is one of the easiest form of exercise. You don't need a lot of gears or equipment. You can walk at your own pace. You can do it anytime. You can even do stationary walking. https://sweatco.in/app/race/leeart/201
If there is play to earn, then there is move to earn too. Join the 63 million users of Sweatcoin and hit two birds with one stone - being fit and at the same time earning from it.
Interesting things lie in wait for Sweatcoin and SWEAT. https://sweatco.in/app/race/leeart/201
Tired but feel blessed to be alive
I was not able to be here that much yesterday for I had to go see my aunt and her family. I have been mentioning that they have come home for the sake of our grandfather's burial. A service will be held today and tomorrow. That will be another reason that I will not be here tomorrow.
Yesterday, we had to buy the needed materials to build where we would place our lolo's remains. He had been cremated last January and his ashes were in an urn. Because his children are all present now, it's about time to finally put him to rest.
I did not go there right away for I have still have to do some tasks. Once I was done, I then prepared myself and headed out. When I got to the jeepney terminal, the jeepney was empty.
I had to wait less than an hour before it was full. It's past 10 a.m. already but there were a few passengers then. Usually at this time of day, it takes longer for jeepneys to fill up. Mornings and afternoons are the times that they fill up quickly.
When I arrived at our lolo's house, it was already nearing lunchtime. My cousins and brothers who were at the cemetery that time arrived a few minutes later to have their lunch. Once we were done, we rested and then I joined them to go to the cemetery.
This road is temporary for the one on the right is currently being constructed. I haven't been here in a long time. It's impressive the development on this part of the road is going. This is a landslide prone area so they decided to build a better, bigger and hopefully stronger bridge that will last a long time.
These are stuff that we had to carry from the main road to the cemetery which is located at the top of the mountain even past those houses that you can see in the photos. The ones in sacks with pink prints are not hours. Just the sacks of sand on the left. We actually had too much of the sand. I hope our cousins will find someone to buy those from us for we don't need them. We can't order one-fourth load of sand. The required minimum amount is half a load. So what we did is carry the sand that we needed and then left the rest there. I was not prepared carrying these up the mountain. I haven't been to the cemetery so I didn't know what to expect. This is actually my first time to go there. It was a work out that I was surprised I was able to do for I don't usually do this kind of work.
It was rewarding though to be there at the cemetery because the view is nice. It's shady and windy. My cousins and siblings were saying that they were surprised to see how populated the cemetery was. It is a reminder that life can be taken from us that easily and that quickly. Going up and down the mountain with heavy load is not that easy but those who are used to it like those who live there have no problem at all.
This is where our grandfather's remains will be placed beside our grandmother's remains. They started doing what needs to be done yesterday when we were finished carrying the needed materials. I had to leave them though for I still have to go back to the city and had to catch the last ride.
This cat was having the best time of its life. If only I can be a cat. This has been there the whole time we were doing our work and it was still there when I went down the mountain finally.
This is the bridge that we have to cross. It's a weak bridge for it cannot carry vehicles. Motorcycles are fine. That's the reason why the deliver truck did not pass through. Our job would have been easier if that happened. This bridge has been replaced for the old one was really old and was destroyed during one of the strong storms before. This current bridge needs to be replaced as well.
Tiring as it may but I still had fun laughing and joking with my siblings and cousins. It made the work lighter for us all. It's kind of ironic that we it was during sad times that we come together sometimes but I think that is how life is. We come together to comfort each other, to give smiles and laughter amidst the tears and pain. Sometimes we say that we don't need others or others don't need us but we have to learn to be there for others. Your mere presence in times of sorrow is enough.
Thanks for reading!
An empty wallet
Khairro posted these questions in his article. You can read about that here. You can answer them too and make a post of your own. That way we get to know each other better. https://read.cash/@Khairro/nothing-to-write-then-answer-this-695e68b8
***If you had a pen and paper what's the first thing you would draw?***
My late maternal grandfather.
Right know he is in my thoughts for his last child and family are home for a month to finally have his remains interred.
I don't know how to draw though lol!
***Do you wear your favorite color often?***
Yes. The dominant is blue hue and black, white and gray.
***What is your favorite candle scent?***
We don't use candle that often. If we do, it's just the plain white unscented generic ones but only on occasions that we don't have electricity at night. I do like lavender scent and lemon scent.
***What is the best Christmas activity?***
The preparation of food and then cooking them and of course eating them. I also like visiting friends and relatives.
***If you could go to any concert, what would it be?***
Growing up in Christian family, I was more exposed to singing in church that's why I like watching a choir singing. There's something about the blending of difference voices that is just thrilling to watch.
One of my fave bands is Linkin' Park. I would have loved to go see them.
***Are any charities close to your heart?***
None at the moment. There were certain charities that I have donated to but I wasn't really involved extensively to any charity.
***What childhood toy did you always want but never got?***
Lego bricks. We used to have some kind of Lego before and we had fun building things from those. Because of the size of their pieces and kids being careless, soon they got lost piece by piece. I loved playing with those a lot. However, we were not that blessed with lots of toys back then.
***If you could be the best at any sport, what would it be?***
Volleyball or tennis. I did play volleyball when I was younger but not that good at it. Lawn tennis and table tennis are also some of the sports that my classmates are good. There was that desire back then to try those and I did but didn't go far with lawn tennis. I can play table tennis but not competitively.
***Do you have a favorite cousin?***
We are close to the family of my mom's youngest. In fact, our cousins lived with us when they were younger that's why we are close to them. They are like our sisters and brother especially the first child.
***What is your favorite thing that is homemade?***
Banana bread. My mom loves baking back then. She would bake banana bread a lot. We were also into vegetable juice like carrot and beets and she would bake the pulps of those too but mostly, banana bread is tops them all. She stopped when our oven was beyond repair.
***Have you imagined/planned your wedding?***
Oh, yes. I did imagine being wed privately where there will be close friends and family and in a secluded area most preferably within nature. Take me to a forest and I would be willing to get married there. I even have a plan of setting up my own events place with that kind of nature vibe.
***Do you have vegetables that you hate?***
I used to hate bitter gourd and mustard. However, as I grew older, I have grown to love them. I can eat whatever vegetable there is. At least those that I have eaten so far. There are some vegetables out there that I have yet to try.
***Do you make lists or do you make it up on the go for daily tasks?***
We have to be flexible because change is inevitable. I do make plans. There are routinary activities that I do but when unavoidable circumstances arise, then we have to adapt to it. I always live by the rule "control what you can control." To avoid being stressed, take things as they come. If plans go perfectly, then well and good. If there are hindrances along the way, then find the solution for it to be able to finish your plans. We have to learn to compromise and be fluid like a water. A river continually flows no matter what obstacle is on its path.
***Do you have a math brain?***
Nope. Enough said.
***What's your favorite board game?***
I grew up playing Scrabble. Word games are more stimulating to me. We do have other games but they were just selected few.
I know jigsaw puzzle is not a board game but I do like doing that too especially the thousand pieces or more. I just remembered those days that we would do those. Some of us would even stay late just doing that. We could probably finish a puzzle in a day or two or more depending on the time.
***Would you say you have good karma?***
I would like to think that I do, so far. There were unfortunate circumstances in my life that have happened but I am still lucky to be alive. That is good enough for me.
***What's the last notably nice thing that someone has done for you?***
More like for us, for our family. The generosity of those who helped us when our house burned down. I know I kept talking about it but it's one of the recent traumatic experiences that we had.
***Do you cry when you are injured?***
Depends upon the injury. If the pain is unbearable that the crying will give me relief, then sure, I will cry.
***What isn't normal that is in your wallet?***
Like physical wallet? Probably mold. I can't remember when was the last I used one and I don't want to go checking on it for there's nothing there anyway lol!
I'll be doing the second part of this soon. Time to bid you goodbye for now.
What's your answer to these questions?
So far so good
Finally got it.
This was the phone case I ordered for my cousin. I was expecting it later this week but it already arrived today in good condition. The items were like silicone or rubber material. I'm not certain. The print/design was not painted. How do I describe it? It's like embossed in the material itself for it does not peel off or cannot be scratched.
We were supposed to go out early for a walk in one of the trails that we like to go but then I received a message earlier from Shopee that my order (the cellphone case above) will be delivered today. The thing with deliver is that they don't have a specific time of delivery. That's why whenever I receive a message like that, I have to cancel all my plans for the day to wait for my deliver to arrive. I can have it received by our landlady which I have done before I don't want to make that a habit if I can avoid it. That's the reason why I would rather pay the items right away so in case I need to go out, then I can have my landlady receive it. However, the number reason why I want the items paid right away when I order them is that I want to avoid having to scamper for money to pay for the items when it arrives.
Because we had to cancel our nature walk, we waited for the delivery which arrived around 8:00 a.m. We then decided to bring that to my cousin. They just arrived yesterday and right away my cousin went to the city center. I guess he really missed his home. Today, when we arrived at their home, he was not there. He and my other brother had to go to the city again.
I saw some cousins and relatives who I have not seen in a long time. They also went there to be with our cousin and family for they will be here for a month before going back to wherever they migrated to. I was surprised to see my sister-in-law and my other niblings. Good thing they were able to travel with another cousin who has a van for hire. This cousin goes back and forth here in the city and our brother and family were in luck. When they learned that this cousin is traveling to the city, they grabbed the chance and traveled with him too.
I was chatting with my aunt and she told us that it was not a pleasant trip especially at the airports both overseas and domestic plus they had to deal with the traffic going to and from the airport. Be that as it may, we were glad that they arrived here safe and sound. My mother planned to go fetch them at the airport but the vehicle that was hired is not enough to carry a lot of people and it's not a comfortable one so she opted not to. One of her brothers and some relatives were able to go though.
We didn't stay long for I was messaged by our landlady regarding a concern about our router and internet. Our internet is directly connected to them and our upstairs neighbor's internet is connected to us. Our neighbor apparently had no internet since last night which is puzzling for we have internet and in fact I was online until 12 midnight. The internet was slow though but there was a connection. Because of that, we had to cut our visit short.
As we were about to go, two of our aunts arrived. All the female siblings of my aunt (my cousin's mom) were there already including my mom. They were waiting for their male siblings. One of the main reasons why they had to gather is that they have to plan for our lolo's (grandfather's) remains (ashes) as to when they plan to have it buried next to our lola (grandmother). I think the tentative plan was this 19th.
Our aunt and family were not able to come home when our lolo passed away and during the wake. There will be a separate service and maybe another gathering soon.
They have to make plans right away before our aunt's vacation is over.
So me and my partner had to bid them goodbye for now and will be back tomorrow.
It took us a long time to get a ride back to town. So long that I saw my sister and family arrived. I had a chat with her and then asked where should we wait for a ride back to the city. Things have changed since the pandemic so I am not updated with how is the situation there. My sister said to go down to the post office for that is where passengers wait for a ride. I bid her goodbye and off we walked about 500 meters away from where we were originally waiting. We had to wait another 15 minutes or so before finally able to get a ride to town.
We then headed back to our apartment and checked our router. Upon checking it, the wire has an issue for it was loose. Securing that, the internet was back online.
With all the wait and all, it was already past lunchtime so we headed back to the city again to have lunch. It rained but then stopped as we went back to our apartment one final time.
It was only this time that I am able to get on line and it's already now 8:00 p.m. I'll do the most I can before going to bed.

Don't under estimate the power of nature. I was thinking that if strong typhoons continue to hit our province, then slowly but surely the mountain you see on the above thumbnail will be level out. Storms seem to be increasing in intensity as the years go by. The water level of this river rises to a terrifying degree.
From this (taken four years ago)
To this (taken yesterday)
I just can't wrap my head how mighty was the water that was able to flatten this area filled with big and enormous boulders and rocks.
I wonder how will this change in the years to come.
