A glimpse of Bulanao, Tabuk City
It's so good to be back here Bulanao, Tabuk City in the province of Kalinga. I have not been here for a long time and I believe it was less than 20 decades ago since the last time I was here. During the few visits that I had back then, I have never been to the market of Bulanao. The photo above was taken during our early visit to the market after coming from a sunrise viewing.
Me and my good friend would spend some weekends at their place in Bulanao. They were from another barangay there called Dagupan but then moved to Bulanao and finally moving to another province.
We arrived late the previous night from another relative's house which was an hour or so away. We were planning to spend the night there but since we have to bring some relatives who were with us to Tabuk, we decided to stay at our cousins there instead. The house where we dropped off our relatives was not that far from our cousins. The barangays they were in were just neighbors.
After dropping our relatives, we then headed to our cousins' place. I will get lost if I will go there alone for it was really different from how it used to be. The roads are paved. Houses are concrete and there are lots of them now. Even our cousins have their own houses built within their property.
Because it was late, we immediately washed and rested that night. It was only our one cousin who entertained us that time.
The next morning, we headed out early to greet the sun in one of the places high enough to see the sunrise and get a glimpse of Tabuk and the surrounding mountains.
That guy in the photo above was not me. It was a friend who was kind enough to model for me. I was trying to capture the background as well with him included in the photo but you can only take a better photo of the background or the foreground.
Our brother who lives there with his family was the one who suggested for us to visit Talama where you can see the sunrise. You only have to pay PHP20.00 for the entrance fee. It was providence that we missed that place. Good thing there were some people there that we were able to ask for directions. They told us that we missed it some 20 meters down but then suggested that we go to the radio station instead for we can also view the sunrise from there which was just a few meters from us that time. We thanked them and headed to the radio station which was starting to open.
The dj at that time was kind enough to let us on the property and take pictures behind the station. We had a bit of a chat with him and learned that he is studying in Baguio City but was just here for vacation.
The photos above were not enough to justify the beauty of the sunrise. The phone's camera is limited in its performance so we just feasted our eyes.
You can quickly feel the warmth as the sun rises. It surely was a hot weather that we were not used to. Still, it was an enjoyable visit.
We headed to the market and bought fish for brunch. Our cousins have mangoes, coconuts and bananas on their property which we picked to bring home. They grow abundantly here that some are just neglected falling off from their trees. Our cousins were glad to share those blessings to us.
This was taken behind the houses of our cousins. The structures under the trees were pigpens. I'm not sure how big is the property of our cousins. This used to belong to our late paternal grandfather. He was able to acquire huge properties while he was still alive that his children inherited and now passed on this grandchildren.
If we know how to take care of our land, then it will take care of us even more.
Our stay lasted for not even 24 hours for we had to head back home. I will be posting more later on about our visit to the province of Kalinga.
Thank you for dropping by. Until the next blog!
