**My Opinion**
Allahu Akbar! - this statement is made by Muslims to show the majesty of God or to express that God is great when something happens. I feel Muslims should hold this name in high esteem and rebuke anyone that uses it to cause "terror" on a fellow human. Using the name Allahu Akbar to unleash mayhem should be seen as blasphemy.
This hypocrisy must stop.
We are guilty of blasphemy (both Christians and Muslims). We are all hypocrites. This is a call for us to see the truth in all religions and embrace them with peace.
How on earth will the life of a fellow human be the price paid for blasphemy against one's belief/faith?
How long shall all these barbaric, culturally and politically oriented blasphemy laws continue to take their toll on our supposed peaceful unison society?
How do we justify that one has truly blaspheme against other beliefs where in reality the accuser is the real victim of blasphemy?
In a contemporary multicultural and diverse religious nation like Nigeria, where the two dominant religious groups (Christianity and Islam) grossly blaspheme the faith of the minorities. They do it with pride and they see other minority religions as nothing to respect or honor?
A devoted Muslim prays 5 times daily, while a devoted Christian prays and fasts as he wills daily. In the prayers of these two beliefs, there is one thing in common, they all pray against a common enemy "**Satan/Shaytan/Esu Odara**". They see him as a common enemy and forget to respect the fact that this is the true deity of some minorities. The so-called common enemies are what some believers worship in so-called societies like the USA (where there is the **Church of Satan**). The same deity is being worshipped in Nigeria as Esu Odara. The undeniable fact remains that if " Satan/Shaytan/Esu odara" is as evil as we thought, then no society would have legalized him as a religion for the minority in any sane system.
It's so pathetic to see Muslims cursing/praying against Shaytan in their five daily prayers. It's so unfortunate to see Christians using 2/3 of their worship time to fire "Satan", some denominations are even known for firing satan using the whole 100% time of their worship. They pray for thunder to strike their common enemy, "Satan". They engage in all manners of blasphemy against this so-called deity (the supreme being of other religions), yet for once and to date they haven't been able to conquer this deity. What a mystery!
The irony of all is that the true believers of the so-called enemy (Shaytan/Satan/Esu Odara) have never for once blaspheme against the supreme being of other religions in their worship. They only praise, worship, and perform all kinds of atonement and sacrifices whenever they gather to their deity.
It will only be fair enough if the blasphemy law that largely protects the two major religious groups could also give same power to the esu/satan/shaytan as a legal religion that needs protection against blasphemy. We see the esu/satan/shaytan worshippers ad those that should be wiped out based on their faith while the major perpetrators of evil (Christians and Muslims) are glorified for their rot and havoc. Isn't that funny.
Actions taken in the name of religion have done more harm than good. The best we can do is to practice the truths in all religions (omnism).
Omnism is the recognition of all religions.
In itself, omnisim is not a religion, it is a sense of spirituality. To put it in perspective, it believes that all religions matter and have a meaning for their existence. One main belief is that everything created in this world is important.
People should learn to be more accepting, and tolerant of other groups - religious or ethnic.
We share the world, let’s share the love.
JAMB Exam is Near: Printing of Exam Slip Has Commenced
The commencement of the JAMB UTME examination is a few days away and as expected the printing of the 2022 UTME examination slip has commenced.
Though there was a delay on the reported date for the examination slip to be available online. Instead of the 29th of April as promised by JAMB, the printing started on the 30th of April. Just 24 hours difference, no harm done.
It was reported that candidates' examination slips will be sent to the email address linked to their JAMB profile with an option to print the scheduling slip from their emails. Candidates have reported that no such message was received was from JAMB. So the available options to reprint it is from the JAMB portal or by visiting a CBT Centre.
Now all candidates who registered for the 2022 JAMB UTME examination can print out their examination slip which will show their examination schedule - the venue (CBT Center), date, time, and seat number for the UTME computer-based test (CBT) which will commence on May 6.
How to print your UTME Exam Slip via the JAMB Portal
Printing the examination is easy. If you don't have access to a computer and printer, you can visit the nearest cyber cafe or CBT Center to print yours. If you don't have access to a computer or printer, you can check your exam schedule using your Smartphone, but you need a computer and printer to print the slip.
Steps to Check and Print the JAMB UTME Examination slip:
Kindly log on to https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/
Enter your **JAMB** **Registration Number or e-Mail or Phone Number** in the space provided**.**
Click on "Print Examination Slip" and your examination slip will pop up on your screen. In case it doesn't pop up, it's probably because you disabled the pop-up on your browser. ***You have to allow a popup for the JAMB portal from your browser.***
To print, click **Ctrl+P** on your computer to initiate printing. Then click print. Ensure a printer is connected to your computer/Laptop.
How much will I be charged to print my JAMB examination slip at the cyber cafe or CBT Center?
Printing of your UTME examination slip at a cybercafe or CBT center is not more than 200 Naira. All you have to do is visit the nearest CBT center or computer business center with your registration number and you will receive your slip within a couple of minutes.
Can I print the examination slip myself?
Yes! If you have internet and access to a computer system and printer you can print the slip yourself. You just have to follow the aforementioned steps on how to print the exam slip. You can print two copies of the slip and keep one for reference purposes.
**What's the difference between the JAMB registration slip and examination slip.**
The JAMB registration slip is a confirmation of successful registration and contains candidates' personal details, UTME subjects, and choice of institution and programs. While the Examination slip is the examination schedule and contains the candidate's personal details, UTME Subjects are boldly shown and examination details which include:

Examination Number
Center Number:
Seat Number
Examination Town
Examination Centre Name
Date: e.g. Monday, May 9, 2022, By 07:00 AM
The most important details for candidates to take note of immediately after printing the slip are the **examination center name** and the **date** of the examination.
**After printing the slip and confirming the exam schedule details, what next?**
**Know your examination center location.**
I have heard cases of candidates who arrived late at the examination center because they had a hard time locating the center on the examination day. Many end up not answering all questions or even missing out on the examination. It is advised for candidates to pay a prior visit to their scheduled centers before the date of the examination. this would make it easier for them to locate the venue on the date of the examination.
What Can I take to the examination hall?
**DO NOT** bring Wrist Watch, Mobile Phone, Electronic Device, Pen/Biro, Key Holder, Calculator, ATM Card, Eraser, Bangles, Ring, Necklace to the Examination Centre. You won't be allowed to enter the examination hall with them. The only items allowed into the exam hall are your examination slip and pencil.
No Verification, No Examination
Your Biometric (Thumbprints) Verification is COMPULSORY at the Examination Centre. Ensure that your biometric is successfully verified before entering the examination hall. No biometric verification, no examination.
There may be a need to sign out after you have ended the exam, so verify with the JAMB official in your center before leaving.

So, when a need you're known for arises, you'll come to their mind immediately. But know many will post MEMES and trolls every day and expect clients and sales.
You cannot thrive in an online business without proper marketing and content. This is like saying you can open a shop, tell no one about it, no product display or post outside to show the products or service you offer, and expect people to rush in to patronize you. Really, how?

Why exactly haven't you decided to learn the ropes in one of these industries and focus there? What exactly is holding you back? is it money? Crypto: Once Upon a Layman's View
*Once upon a time, I was a layman in the crypto space - now I know better. Though still far from the savvy crypto guy.*
Oftentimes, I was asked what my take was on cryptocurrency. How does the rising economic system sound and look to me and what are my opinions about it? To the layman like I was, Cryptocurrency isn't exactly a thing that evokes much interest or excitement. If in fact, it evokes any feelings whatsoever, it would be skepticism, disinterest, and/or fear. Now, before you judge the layfolk for their unfavorable opinion, one should like to see the whys of the matter. Apart from those who revolt against every technological advancement, there are those who for good reasons too, do not have a so wonderful belief in cryptocurrency. And, here's why.
**Cryptocurrency is by far the most unstable and imbalanced economic and financial setup yet**. The talk of owning some amount of money somewhere online and that the value increases or decreases without control, does not sound good to my ears, or the ears of hundreds more people. I have heard some enthusiasts of Cryptocurrency say that Cryptocurrency fluctuates in value just like the normal currency, the one we're used to, does. The problem however with this is that such enthusiasts will have to go through the technical complexity of explaining the subject of Economics to a layman. Despite the majority of people being aware of the fact that currencies deplete or increase in value, the difference in the values is pretty small compared to that of Cryptocurrency. And, as we know that even these small differences in values of normal currencies cause serious effects and economical implications, how much more the larger fluctuations in Cryptocurrency? Hearing people talk about Cryptocurrency makes it seem like a risky venture. I would easily conclude that there is no reliable investment in this. If I happen to buy a coin, I stand the chance of doubling my money and if luck is not on my side, I also stand the chance of losing all of it. It all depends on luck, having the foresight to withdraw my money at the perfect time, or to predict which coin is likely to succeed. Yes, sounds like the Casino effect. Definitely not something I'm risking my hard-earned money on.
The layman would not be interested in Cryptocurrency because of its **too unpredictable nature**. This makes it undependable and a bad asset. It is not uncommon to hear of 'dips' (whatever they mean) in Cryptocurrency. The layman says that whenever there is a really bad 'dip', there will be chaos among those who 'know' Cryptocurrency on the internet. While many will be lamenting the amounts of money they have lost, some will be sympathizing with them for their bad luck or bad eye for investment while the unlearned and common us will sit in a corner and be inwardly thankful that we aren't sharing in the whatever problem that is going on. Sometimes too, friends who say they 'invested' a little will rake up a lot of money if the currency 'grows'. Then some will say that they wish they had bought that coin. Honestly, at certain times, one salivates at the idea of buying coins but the issue of uncertainty always cuts this contemplation short. How does currency grow? And how can such an unstable thing be worthy to be called an Asset? How can the world be presented with the idea of a new currency which does not actually sit in the same spot as the kind of money they are used to and is sort of a game of investments? I am a layman and Cryptocurrency looks like something I can't quite digest.
**Cryptocurrency is way too complex**. This is another view that many laymen unanimously share about Cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency isn't something that is so easily explainable to the conventional currency generation. And, it doesn't help matters either, that humongous terms are used in speaking about it. Cryptocurrency isn't open knowledge in fact, statistics have it that far more than 70% of the world's population has never heard about it before. Yes, it is that unpopular. The Russian cybersecurity firm Kapersky's survey predicted that only 10% of the world knows how Cryptocurrency works and 18% of people who *'thought they knew what it was'* quit because it was too technically complicated. Recent surveys claim that around 81% of the global population does not have a real idea of what Cryptocurrency is. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Altcoins, blockchain technology, public-key cryptography, fiat currency, FOMO, FUD, dip, Non-fungible tokens, Defi, cold storage, hash, tokens, etc; there are far too many common terms that a layman, in truth, does not understand. Perhaps, it could have been great if writeups about Cryptocurrency could break down these concepts to some extent if they cannot use normal and relatable terms, contrarily, one has to make individual searches on each term in order to understand it while reading one of such articles. Not only does this make articles about Cryptocurrency boring, tiring, and distasteful, but it also causes disinterest amongst a large populace of readers.
Finally, I accept that **Cryptocurrency is a landmark innovation** and that it is causing effects and will continue to make effects in the trend of human finances. Perhaps, it has ushered in a new era as the technology of smartphones did. But, there are many reasons that make laymen have bland or negative attitudes towards it. In general, if Crypto currency improves, there isa higher likelihood that perspectives about it will be better too. We might all agree though that intrinsically, Cryptocurrency is not so bad.
You don't have to be so smart
You don't have to be so smart to make good money online. You also don't need a laptop to make good money online too. You only need to be humble enough to learn and implement as fast as possible.
And yes, it's not a matter of age too. You can be a secondary school student and still make millions.
First things first, **develop an abundance of mentality**. Understand that money is not in short supply. Stop thinking about your family and friends only. Let google help you with the figures of how many people use social media daily and you'd realize that it goes beyond your state or even your country. This will help you eliminate the fear of not getting anyone to patronize your products and services.
Secondly, **learn high-income skills fast**. Your skills are simply your problem-solving abilities. You cannot solve problems without having the necessary skills. You can learn from YouTube Channels but you're probably not disciplined enough to follow through as much as it's needed (we are all in this shoe). If possible, you can pay money to learn from someone who has mastered that skill already. It will save you lots of time, energy, and money too. Plus you'd be learning what actually works in that business or skill. Think of it as paying once to learn something that would make you money for as long as you want. Amazing right?
Next, Spend some time **practicing your skills to gain some level of mastery**. You can take more courses if you can afford them. But most importantly, find a mentor fast. The easiest way to do this is to serve someone who already has results in your niche.
*Simply put: help them reach their goals and you'll learn so much while doing so. Don't worry...you lose nothing doing this*.
Mentorship helps you learn the business of your skill faster. Learning graphic design won't automatically put money in your bank account. Learning the business of the skill is what brings you money. This is true with any other skill out there.
Many folks learn skills and remain broke simply because they fail to learn the business of their skill.
Lastly, **realize that your money is in people's problems.** Other people's money is in your problems too. Nobody pays another person for what they can do with ease. Money follows solutions. If you solve physical or mental problems for a large number of people consistently, you'd never be broke.

Before I start answering the questions, let me take this given opportunity to thank @Lixten for this interview. It is my very first time that someone messaged me on telegram for an interview though I know, I am not good at writing and I still have a long way to go become one. I hope that I can answer all the questions properly.
I started my journey a year ago and I cannot belive on my achivements here like I started writing on read.cash becase I saw my sister doing it and I got curios so I tried since I really want to write. At first, my intention was to accumulate BCH only and I did not expect that I will enjoy interacting and learning more about cryptocurrency. It was just amazing how I manage to stay here until now and it is because of my readers and sponsors, without them I am nothing.
You've been a Readcasher for sometime, what was the biggest challenge you faced since you started here? Also, how did you overcome the challenge?
Maybe my biggest challenge in here is when I started writing an article on my first month like it was hard to be noticed when your topic is not good and I am not good at interacting as well. To overcome it, I started reading articles that I find interesting and always leave a meaningful comment until I realized that they also start reading my articles to return the favor and I was so happy about it.
What’s one thing that inspired you? Who/what do you look up to for motivation and inspiration? How do you stay motivated all the time? How do you get motivated? And, what do you do to reach your goals in personal and business life?
My inspiration would be my dreams in life or the things that I wanted to do in the future. It inspires me to do my best and exert my full effort. My readers motivate me to continue on publishing, their compliments and even their criticism motivates me.
What did I do to reach my goals? I just continue what I’m doing. I fail but I also try and try again to succeed and maybe that is the reason why I was able to achieve my goals.
According to your experience, what are the basic things every new user should know about? Any advice for someone who’s just starting out in the same field as yours like blogging, online business, crypto currency, etc?
I highly recommend to have more interaction with your co-writers in here. Read and read to learn more so you can apply it next time. It doesn’t matter if you are just starting or what, just write what you want to write, express your thoughts through words and accept criticism to grow. In that way, I assure you that you will learn.
How do you make money online (aside from earning BCH on read.cash and noise.cash)? What are your income streams?
Aside from noise.cash and read.cash, I also try publishing articles on Publish0x, posting on Torum and etc. I also do trading both on centralized and decentralized exchanges, farming and staking tokens for passive income.
What’s your typical day look like? How many minutes or hours you spend on your content and interaction on read.cash?
My typical day would be like staying at home, reading books, watching anime or korean dramas or just scrolling on my social media accounts after house chores. Before I am spending a lot of time on read.cash but now, I had to focus on my studies and prepare for my future so I rarely visit my account here nowadays.
What do you do in order to keep up with latest tools and technologies/Which websites do you browse regularly/What is your source of up-to-date knowledge. What tools or skills has helped you so far?

I Woke to Over Over 3 Million Naira ($5000) - April F**l
**My joy knows no bounds.**
I woke up early today, around four am this morning to see a message that was sent to me at 3:37 am that I have just won a sum of 3,685,000 naira. I know, I know. Wait, chill… I was shocked too(I still am) but this is what happened.
It has been for over seven months now that I have been investing in this kind of lotto. My brother- in- law (Michael) had introduced me to the scheme and I have been on it. I have invested a total of six times but I didn’t win anything for five times. So the last and sixth time I played(which is the one I just won) was over a month ago. Michael and I had bought cards and we waited for the results. But when I didn’t hear from them for a month, I had to conclude that I probably didn’t win again so I had my mind off it. But that was until today. To be honest, it was so unexpected and wonderful that if I say that I am seriously shocked and overjoyed, it still would be an understatement. And till now, I would have found it hard to believe if it weren’t for the fact that I have withdrawn the money and it is staring at me in my bank account presently.
One 'miracle' about the matter is that my birthday is in five days and I’ve this strong feeling that it was probably my father’s ancestors sending an early birthday gift to me. Lol. Thank you great grandpa!!! And co too.
I never imagined that I would wake up on a normal day and I would be greeted like this. And I’m telling you; unexpected money is very sweet. There’s one thing that I have learned and that is that we may not take it seriously, but perseverance is key. As long as something isn’t too big to do, don’t give up too quick. This has taught me that because I wouldn’t have known that my sixth time was going to be my win.
I have already informed my mother about it and I have decided to give ten percent of the amount to the church (tithe) as a church boy. I will also pay the few debts that are outstanding, buy some coins (more of BCH), flex with my boys and lastly I intend to give back to this awesome community.

Why Most Crypto Day Traders Fail
Unlike long-term investments where you buy and hold assets for several months (or even years) before selling them for a profit, day trading involves frequently placing trades, often multiple times on the same day. Intending to capture short-term price movements, day traders leverage technical analysis via different indicators and strategies.
For that reason, the crypto market is an excellent choice for day traders due to the high volatility of the asset class, which provides great opportunities to place profitable orders.
However, while day trading is not as complex as most people believe, around 80-90% of day traders lose money in the long run.
While the high volatility of digital assets makes them the perfect choice for day traders, it's easy to achieve a negative ROI. Researchers have discovered that around 80% of financial market traders lose money. At first glance, this would indicate that becoming a successful day trader is a super tough job that only the minority can achieve.
The good news is that it's certainly not the case.

Developing a trading system is not difficult. Several different strategies can be used to generate profitable results. Traders lose money because they lack the discipline to follow the system for more than a few weeks. Successful traders can follow a specific method for several consecutive years.
**But how can you avoid making the above mistakes?**
An essential attribute to becoming a successful crypto day trader develop a strategic trading plan. According to many investment surveys, 80% of all traders lose money on their trades. The majority of these traders lose money because they have no trading plan or investment strategy. **If you want to become a profitable trader, develop your own system** and always follow the rules.
**Patience and discipline are the keys to successful crypto trading.**

My biggest challenge as a writer is the writer's block and procrastination. Also, in more than 1 year of writing, I am now lack of a topic to write so I cannot think of a subject to write. I overcame these challenges by reading other’s work and getting some ideas from it. Sometimes, I also participate in prompts.
**What’s one thing that inspired you? Who/what do you look up to for motivation and inspiration? How do you stay motivated all the time? How do you get motivated? And, what do you do to reach your goals in personal and business life?**
I don't want to be a hypocrite but I think most of the writers in the platform are also motivated by the crypto that we earn. It is one of the reasons why I continue to write. Also, it is great to have an experience in writing as you can add it to your skills and experiences for your future job. To reach my goals in personal and business life, I keep moving forward and learn one step at a time. Hard work and perseverance is always the key.

When the Stakes Are High - Gambling Responsibly
We all want a better life - to break free financially. There are lots of ways to get started, but betting (though has made just a few out of millions of bettors rich) isn't a recommended way. Bet if you must for fun or to make some money with an amount you can afford to lose but losing your head and turning it into a daily routine (addiction) is what I preach against.
Betting is neither a crime (at least where I come from) nor is it bad (though many would disagree). I have engaged in betting and I still do. Nobody around me knows that I bet, I'm totally in control of that aspect of my life. I can go weeks and even months without. I usually bet when I've got a little money to play around with.
But the same cannot be the same about everyone else. Aside from those I read and heard of, I've witnessed the impacts sports betting addiction could have on people - It has ruined dreams, relationships and rendered people bankrupt.
Too much of anything is bad
Gambling is addictive if not properly controlled.
The Nigerian bulging youth population has been inundated with sports betting. The rate of gambling is alarming and this is driven by the quest for quick money, unemployment, greed, and economic hardship amongst others.
There are betting activities all over the globe but our problem in Nigeria is that we tend to overdo things all the time, be it chances, opportunities, privileges, name it. Once it starts making sense we overdo it immediately…sadly we all are guilty of this somehow.
Though there are gambling laws in the country, their activities are not properly regulated and laws are not effectively enforced. You can spot betting shops in most streets and even teenagers have access to these facilities.
Betting Responsibly
*Gamble with an amount you can afford to lose.*
I know quite a few people who have turned sports betting into livelihood without doing other hustle.
You earn 30,000 Naira monthly and you bet with 10,000 or more that's not betting responsibly.
Your rent is due and you've got some money. Instead of paying it off, you want to first double it with 2 odds. That's irresponsible gambling.
As a student, your parents sent you 50,000 to pay your school fees. You used 10k to stake on a game you are confident in winning. But end up losing it. Believe me, you'll want to win the money back. You'll bet again and again until you end up losing everything. A bad decision.
If you must bet, learn to bet responsibly and accept defeats as part of the investment...
**Use your head while betting**.
I mentioned earlier that I bet, right? But I don't bet with my salary, My betting bankroll is from a little percentage of what I make from my side hustle. And once I exhaust that little amount for the month, I won't bet again till the next month.
**Avoid Greed**
Greediness is ruining most bettors. Some want to win 1 million with a 100 naira stake. For this to happen, they have to select a lot of games which reduces their chances of winning. And some forget to "stake only what you can afford to lose" and go in huge and end up losing big time. You end up bankrupt when you're trying to win what you don't deserve
**Don't Get Addicted**
An addicted bettor is ruined. Whenever you get hold of any amount the first thing that comes to mind is to stake it on the next game. Betting should be for fun, don't turn to an addicted bettor.
**Don't Chase Your Losses**
Always know when to stop.
It is also very important that you do not chase your losses with bigger bets. It is common for some sports bettors to be down money and feel to win it back they need to increase the size of their bets. This is putting yourself in the wrong mindset and will often lead to you losing even more money.
Gambling is a game of risk, if you are not willing to take it you should quit. If you lose, accept your loss and move. And when you win, you smile. Stop trying to win back what you've lost, most end up losing more.
**Have a good bankroll management strategy**
If you are serious about sports betting, try to have a betting bankroll. You can set aside a certain amount of you that you can use to bet for the week, month, or even season. If you want, you can create a separate account for betting, where you can put a certain amount of your income. And once you exhaust that amount for the set period, you should stop.
**My Take**
Avoid gambling if you can. But as long as you don't depend on winning to make the next expenses and you can control your gambling habit to not get addicted, then you are on the clear. If you don't have a job or any high-income skill that earns you money consistently, then it is a problem.

Nobody plans to be broke, nobody becomes broke by accident.
Your finances are the way they are because of some conscious and subconscious decisions you make daily. Being broke happens as a result of our actions of inactions. It doesn't have to be a permanent condition because it can and should be changed.
Being broke is first a mindset that needs to be fixed. Breaking free is no rocket science.

Financial confidence comes with having the right Skills to keep you from going broke even if all is stolen from you. Your smartphone is enough to get you started on this path of learning.
7. Only one Income Source
If you have multiple streams of expenses, it's important to balance them with multiple streams of income. Every business has a possibility for multiple streams of income when carefully examined and explored.
8. No accounting
One reason some people go broke and remain so is that they don't keep an account of what happens to their money. Hold yourself accountable to make more money, save more money and invest more money.
9. Wrong Network
Your association has a.hugr part to play in how much money you can make, keep and invest. Your income will be the average of the 5 people you spend most of your time with.

**Reebok "Cheat on your girlfriend and not your workout" ad**

Wide reactions of anger and disappointment erupted from the public when Reebok; an international fitness clothing and footwear company released this ad that supposedly told its audience to "cheat on their girlfriends". And...in truth, the choice of words of the copy was er...unethical and offending. Not a nice job there, Reebok copywriters.
The interesting thing there is; Reebok had only released the advert in Germany however, somehow, it spread around and the global community got a good earful of it. The insult supposedly drips from the underlining in this picture. Perhaps, it was the emphasis placed on the word there or even the word itself or both, there was too much that wasn't agreeable about this ad. Although that isn't the exact point of the advert nor is it the only problem with it, it's just...well, a place to start listing those problems.
In 1953, Alcoa Aluminum company released this advert to promote their HyTop screwable bottle cap. The ad features a woman who is surprised that she can open a Del Monde ketchup bottle **by herself**. So, she's like..."Woooo!!!" Oh?
What is hilarious but also adds salt to the injury is the first line of an article that came with the ad that read; "Easily—without a knife blade, a bottle opener, or even a husband!" The gist was that; women needed aid (best a husband) when it came to even things as simple as opening a bottle cap. At least, this is how people interpreted it.
This ad was seen as a perfect featuring of casual sexism in the '50s. Although sexism still stands as a problem, the normality of it at that time is something people today think worth studying. Thus, different works have been developed around the advert- reviews, criticisms, and even books.
Maybe Alcoa Aluminum was only trying to make opening bottles easier for women or perhaps, it really was intended sexist, it was up to the public to choose what they would believe in. It's been over sixty years since then and the modern Alcoa Aluminum only wishes that the public would forget about the ad. But they never had.

Lifelock CEO Security ad

Sometimes, while promoting a product or service, companies may go too far. They may take risky approaches or sell promises that may not hold true or cannot be fulfilled. Usually, such companies face harsh consequences for getting out a bad copy.
In around 2007, LifeLock went quite far with its promotional advert and paid dearly for it. The US-based security company claimed to be able to protect their customers' information from hackers and cyber fraud. To prove themselves true, they made an ad where they shared the social security code of the company CEO, Todd Davis. The thing for LifeLock was that they'd expected that even after sharing such sensitive information, the CEO's identity and information will remain safe and boom! It would be proven that their system actually worked. Refer now to the CEO's words which will become famous henceforth; "No, I'm not crazy." Actually, soon enough, everyone had to think that he was.
Most unfortunately for LifeLock, their dangerous ad proved to be a sham and fake. Not only was Todd Davis' information hacked and his identity stolen a total of thirteen times, but fraudsters had also decided to make a mockery of the company. While hackers had a hacking spree of Todd Davis, his information became leaked and fraudsters used that to commit different crimes. Finally, the Federal Trade Commission fined LifeLock twelve million dollars for deceptive advertising. Amidst debt and of course, humiliation, LifeLock and its CEO had to learn really hard what wrong advertising means.

**Antonio Federici Religious ads**

An Italian family ice cream empire began a series of really controversial ads around 2010. The company began its religious-themed promotional campaign called; "Ice cream is our religion" to publicize their irresistible gelato in the UK. Their campaign was pretty fancy with a singing crew, food photography, videos, and of course, these 'mental' ads featuring seeming gay nuns and priests, a pregnant nun, and a nun and a half dressed priest, all holding out Antonio Federici ice creams. The pictures used a lot of religious details in clothing, rosaries, and a church setting. Also, sentences like; "Immaculate conception", "We believe in Salivation", and "Submit to temptation" were used. One could call them the word bold or cunning with wordplay.
However, the ads didn't sit well with the Roman Catholic church and several other people who laid complaints about the ad which they described as a 'mockery of Religion' however, the company copywriter; Matt O'Connor refuted saying that it was just creative. The ad caused some serious controversy while also becoming so popular that it made the headlines on The Colbert Report; a popular
US Comedy Central show was reported to be the most shared story of the day on the BBC’s website.
Because of too many complaints, however, the Advertising Standards Authority banned the adverts for being offensive to Religious and for being a mockery of religion.
More frequently, strange methods of adverts have been emerging. Some copies are so outrageous that one has to wonder if company copywriters deliberately get drunk or high right before creating a copy. One almost can never tire of the twisted minds and ideas of creativity of humans however, it is saving to learn what kind of creative works and what kind to avoid otherwise, one might end up in a similar article as this twenty years to come.
The League of Crypto: The 135 points haul
I'm glad to have joined the largest fantasy football league in the world as it availed me the opportunity to participate in the competitive fun created by some members of this community.
I joined the *League of Crypto* by Club1BCH after gameweek 25, and it's not for the trophy (as no miracle can help me finish in the top 100). My goal as mentioned in my previous article on this subject is not to finish last in the ranking.
A Good First Week - Gameweek 26
My team accumulated a total of **135 points.**
The point haul is all thanks to Salah and my decision to make him the captain and use the Triple Captain chip. With the Captain band and Triple Captain chip, he accumulated 84 points - 62% of the total team points. He scored two goals and assisted a goal in the 6:0 win over Leeds.
The Next high point is by Robertson. He got 13 points for getting two assists and a team clean sheet in a 6:0 victory over Leeds United.
Then there are 11 points apiece from Saka (Arsenal) and Dennis (Watford). Saka and Dennis scored a goal in Arsenal's 2:1 win over Brentford and Watford's 0:1 defeat of Aston Villa.
Alexander-Arnold got 6 points, Coutinho got 2 points and the rest players got just a point each.
Team Selection - What changed?
**Transferred out Sanchez** (Brighton Goalkeeper) **and brought in Sar** (Wolves Goalkeeper). Sat is an upgrade from Sanchez - the price difference is just £0.7 but Sar has more to offer. He has account more points than every other goalkeeper except Ederson - they are joint top goalkeepers based on total points (115 points).
I **switched Sar for Ramsdale**. The two goalkeepers in my team are Sar (Wolves) and Ramsdale (Arsenal). I picked Sar over Ramsdale as I believe the Wolves are more likely to keep a clean sheet at home against Crystal palace than Arsenal keeping one Away to Watford.
I also **transferred out Keane** (Everton Defender) **for Livramento** (Southampton defender).
I have other players I wish to transfer out and in but I don't have more free transfers and I don't want to pay 4 points for each transfer. So I'll leave my team like this for the new gameweek fixtures.

Now I look forward to week 28 fixtures and hope my players will put in a good performance in their individual teams.
The League Ranking
Joining the league after 25 game weeks, the goal is no longer to finish top, but not to finish last. And I'm on the right path, thanks to scoring 135 points in game week 26. If I can keep my weekly points high, I'll likely finish ahead of "GM Team".
The league also has prizes for top managers of the month, perhaps, I could aim to win in one of a couple of months left for EPL completion.

Ads Gone Wrong I
**Inappropriate Ads that landed companies in trouble.**
Businesses make use of adverts to introduce ideas to people and of course, most importantly, to sell their products. Although many companies advertise, different companies have different marketing strategies that they use to achieve their commercial goals. At that, company marketing teams and copywriters focus on the task of making business copies more attractive to the public and especially creative because well... creative is always better.
To achieve the desired attractiveness, devices like puns (wordplays), humour, sarcasm, or witty remarks are deliberately included in copies and commercials. Businesses know that these techniques work better. But, not everytime. Sometimes, they go over- the- board and they end up being wrong. The result is that such companies are likely to face the disapproval of the public who might feel betrayed, angry, or even offended by the contents of the advertisement. Sometimes, things get hot and ugly and businesses face the risk of massive losses, media rage, getting dragged to court or even complete shutdown. *And in the case of Lifelock data protection company, huge debt plus legal issues.* So yes, one can say that their marketers are done for. And guess what? Here are nine of them that went veeeerryy wrong.
1. The Dove 'White' Ads
Dove company got into some deep trouble in 2017 after it posted a supposedly racist advert. The advert featured a black woman wearing a brown shirt matching her skin tone and pulling it off to turn into a white woman in a white shirt matching her skin tone. Maybe the ad was supposed to convey the message of Dove's whitening and transformation but, the ad fueled serious anger on social media as the public went berserk on the apparently inappropriate marketing style of the company. According to the angry media, the company's description of black as an 'unfavourable' or 'dirty' skin tone was very racist.
Racial diversity is a very sensitive issue in the society. With the increasing number of antiracist advocates, there seems to be constant watch against any perceived racially biased action therefore, any unpleasant remark is regarded as offending and insensitive. Dove really should have known better.
Some controversy came up in this issue when the black woman model asserted that she didn't think the advert insultive, and... there was a third transition that involved another coloured woman which was not featured in the viral photo. The transition, had it been featured in the capture, might have exonerated the company and confirmed that Dove was only trying to introduce racial diversity in its commercials. But, not many people agreed with this idea. According to them, Dove company was not a first time sinner. It had also previously featured a glaringly racist ad in 2011. In the ad, coloured women were featured as the BEFORE and a white woman as the AFTER of using Dove product. Uh-oh! Caught!
Although Dove apologized to the public for its erroneous advert, it still had to suffer for its mistake.
2. Bloomingdale's eggnog advert

"Spike your best friend's eggnog when they're not looking."
Now, that's one crazy line for a department store's Christmas catalog's designer bags advert. The Copywriters of Bloomingdale's seemed to have misplaced humour for a serious issue in their famous eggnog advert.
Bloomingdale's released the advert as part of their holiday catalog in 2015. The graphics showed a woman who was looking away and laughing and a man looking weirdly at her with the words; "Spike your best friend's eggnog when they're not looking" in the middle of the graphics. The marketing team had probably thought that the idea was funny and the public will be humoured but to their dismay, immediately the ad was released, the public took offense. People were of the opinion that the advert was encouraging date rape. Not only did it promote an unfavoured idea, it also projected some displeasing pictures about sex and men. The whole things about **secretly** spiking one's best friend's drink, and that, especially with the creepy look the man in the picture was giving the lady, and the clearly not innocent use of a man model and a woman model, wasn't just it.
Parts of the reaction of the public were that; the advert was creepy, uncomfortable and annoying. Expectedly, it didn't take time at all for Bloomingdale's to realize that they'd made a mistake.
3. H&M's not clean ad

Another ad tagged racist. That's a young black boy there, who is wearing a green hoodie. On that hoodie, are the printed words; "Coolest monkey in the jungle"
Uh...what?!
H&M were advertising a new line of hoodies and they released this advert, which immediately became publicly criticized.
Coolest monkey? Why use a monkey? Not a leopard, or a jaguar, or a rabbit. There are tons of cool animals they could have used and even if a monkey had to be used, it shouldn't have been the boy who is black. Considering the sensitive racial issue that was causing some problem in the society, those lines were seen as plain wrong. Everyone knows what a black person wearing something tagged "monkey" means. And, although the parents of the child model said that they didn't think it was offensive, the public believed it was. And, H&M lost a lot of important public support (and probably much money too) including that of their brand collaborator and entertainment figure; the Weeknd.
4. Mr Clean's sexist ad

Mr Clean had wanted to use the Mother's day celebration to an advantage to sell more products. So, it released this advert which unfortunately, toppled over badly.
The women public didn't think the advert was reasonable. It was sexist and put female importance in the bad angle. According to the advert, the 'job that really matters' is supposed to be cleaning. It was perceived as very wrongful to say that the women's job that really matters was to clean; even the mere idea of it being women's job. According to the public, there were a lot of problems with the ad. Apart from the fact that it had unreasonable sexist ideas, the company was trying to suggest that the product could be given as a Mother's day gift to women, probably sending the message that; "go clean as it's your job" rather than a message that; "this product will aid your good-hearted volunteer work and it's sent to appreciate you." What a misarranged message delivery! Mr Clean company suffered for it though, as they had already offended their target audience. Haha! Not the wisest move, seeing that they're so going to make bad sales.
Takeaway
While making content that will go public such as adverts and commercials, it can never be too much to take into consideration; public opinion, and take extra care to make the ad as sensitive as possible. Businesses are suffering from this.
This is not the end of this article; there's still the company who dared scammers with the CEO's private details to prove that they were secure and the ad about the pregnant nun. But, let's save the last most mental ads for the next half of this article.

2. Assumptions
If you know what you want, do yourself a favor by not assuming you know how to get it. Improve your knowledge of things. Go for knowledge - read books, watch videos, ask questions. It's your responsibility to make sure you succeed in whatever you do. Don't assume your way into failure.
There is nothing wrong with asking for directions from folks who have the results you seek. And again, you must ask rightly if you want to get the answer you need.
For example, if it's money you want to make, stop wishing for it. Ask those legitimately making it for directions. If necessary, take their courses to give you more detailed direction. Courses are created to solve people's problems without directly being present to do so.
3. Greed
Lasting success obeys process. Greedy people always attempt to neglect the process hence they are seldom truly successful. One of the lessons school teaches us is to value process (spending years to get to University and more to complete a course). Yet, many fail to apply it in life. That's why Ponzi schemes that promise 100,000 in 30 minutes keep thriving and leaving people in penury.

Commerce had begun since a very long time. The best attempt at tracing its history is to predict the period when human beings developed the desire to own things. **An apple a day keeps the doctor away**. Bet you've heard that before. We were taught in schools that it is a saying; an aphorism. It means that eating healthy prevents one from getting sick. Haha! Bet you that there was no real research before this claim was made. It was just made to sell apples. But, whoever wrote that copy deserves a name in history.
Do you think that that saying is a scam? Not really. Researchers now, who are determined to prevent their beliefs from being a lie, have been working to prove the saying true thus, we've been told that apples actually have reasonable health benefits. However, one should also note that the saying now means that eating healthy is just right, and not that one necessarily needs to eat apples before bed or that doctors wouldn't earn if one did that.

It's an editing tool used for bulleted listing.

To use these text formatting tools, you have to first select the desired text then click **B** to make it bold, ***I*** to italicize, ****U**** to underline, and S to strike through (e.g. ~~strikethrough results in texts like this~~).
**Add Link 🔗**
To add link to link to a text, simply select the desired text and click on the link icon 🔗.
**Paragraph P**
The **P** icon is used to structure text in **paragraphs**. This becomes useful when you have used the H1 or H2 formatting In texts and you wish to change them to paragraphs with normal don't size.

**Image Editor**
This toolbar allows you to edit the images you have inserted into your articles. With this tool:
You can click the blank space (1) to the extreme left to add a link to your image
You can make a particular image within the body of the article the lead image. This can be done by clicking the windows-like icon (2).
With tool (3), you can add shadows to an image - making it appear cooler. Though this is more effective if your image has a white background. See the example below:
Click the **x** icon (4) to delete an image.
Every other tool in between is used to position the images**.**
**Unsplash Pictures**
Unsplash is integrated into read.cash and can be used to search for and insert images. Read.cash writers can use any of Unsplash’s free images in their articles!
To add Unsplash images to your article simply click on the image icon in the editor tool bar. Enter a search term for the image you want, search and select the desired picture. The added image is automatically linked to the image source.
Hiding Community Feeds
For someone who likes going through the articles feeds on the read.cash homepage, I don't always enjoy seeing lots of unwanted feed.
With the hide tool, one can hide feeds from certain communities and prevent them.from.appearing on your homepage feeds.
**Blocking Users**
A Sad, but necessary feature. You may want to block a user, which prevents them from seeing anything about you on read.cash (profile, posts, and comments). You won't also see the person's posts and comments (even those on your posts).
Linking Comments
You can click the link 🔗 icon below the comment as shown in the above image to copy the comment's link. This is useful when you want to link a relevant comment to your article.
**Subscribe to Comments**
While everyone gets updates whenever there is a comment or reply to our posts or comments respectively, you can subscribe to get updates whenever there is a new comment activity in other users' posts?
To follow the discussions in the comments of an interesting post, subscribe to receive notifications when readers leave comments. just click the bell icon (it will turn blue).
Comment Filter
With the **sort ⬇️** feature, you can sort the comments on your articles to be arranged by default (threaded), or newest comment on top or upvoted comments on top.
Notification Filter
There will be lots of notifications for a user who has subscribed to lots of active users and who also has lots of active subscribers that engage with his or her post. With this feature, you can only show a group of notifications that match your preference at a time. For example, you can select comments and replies, to see only notifications for comments and replies you have received. Instead of scrolling through all the notifications (upvotes, subscriptions, mentions, etc).

A couple of days ago, I read in a Reddit post that the aim for creating the read.cash platform is to distribute Bitcoin Cash (BCH) to as many people as possible with the goal of promoting awareness and mass adoption of the coin. I want to believe the platform is living up to its potential as I and thousands of people from various regions (many who can't afford to invest their money in crypto) now hold some amount of BCH and have learned a lot about Bitcoin cash ecosystem.
Bitcoin cash can become more useful and valuable with a significant increase in the number of users (and its usage thereof). So every additional Bitcoin cash adopter makes BCH more valuable for everyone involved in the network. This is the **Network Effect.**
New Readcashers are very important to the strength of the read.cash and bitcoin cash community. As we join the community to learn, share content, and connect, it improves read.cash potential of becoming the best places to be. And when earn BCH, promote it to people in our various communities, hodl, and/or use it (being peer-to-peer electronic cash), we promote the growth of Bitcoin cash adoption - which could benefit everyone on this platform.

Useful Tips for Read.cash Beginners
1. Backup Your bitcoin cash wallet.
Every user is prompted to write down the 12- recovery words (seed phrase) during the process of signing up. If you failed to save it or write it down then, it's not too late now. A week after joining read.cash, my phone developed a fault and had to be flashed. The read.cash BCH wallet (where your earnings are stored only exists in the browser you used to login to the platform. So after the repair, I logged in to read.cash and was asked to create a new wallet or import an existing wallet. It's a good thing I wrote down the seed phrase, I was able to recover the existing wallet and gained access to the BCH I earned.
If you don't back up your wallet seed phrase no one can help you recover your Bitcoin cash when the need arises.

2. Update your profile
You can add an **avatar** (your picture or logo), **bio** (a tagline/brief self-description), and **links to your various social channels and website**. This lets the members of the community know a little bit about you and helps them connect with you away from read.cash. These are not compulsory but recommended. You can also **add an email** if you didn't do so during registration. This will come in handy when you forget your read.cash password (for password recovery).
3. Write your introduction post
You won't be penalized if you don't. But what better way to start than to introduce yourself to the community. It helps your potential readers to know more about you and what to expect. You can write about your personal and professional background (as much as you wish to share), how you heard about read.cash (you can mention the user that invited you if any), your passion, skills, hobbies, and interests, and what readers should expect from you. You can tag/mention some users in your post - to improve your post visibility (as any user mentioned in your post is notified about it. And they may decide to check your post out and welcome you. 1. Torum Unique Gifts
On Torum, sending a gift is a way of encouraging and supporting other users. You can gift as little as 1 XTM to as high as 1000 XTM. https://www.torum.com/?referral_code=lixten
Below are the 15 unique gifts available Torum.
When a Lander (Torum users) find a post interesting they can send a gift from the list of unique gifts to show their support to the author. This can be done by clicking the gift icon on any post.
Whenever a gift is sent, the author receives only 30% of the gift's value while the remaining 70% goes back to Torum's fund.
2. Mission Rewards

A lander needs to accumulate 100 Power-ups from Daily Missions to gain full access to all the missions.
There are **4** types of missions (**Daily Mission**, **Weekly Mission**, **One-time Mission**, and **Special Mission)** offering a various range of tasks and rewards. Users are rewarded with claimable XTM upon completion of these missions.
**Daily Mission**. The daily missions can be completed every day, and offers a total reward of 0.81 XTM all 3 tasks.
**Weekly Mission**. This mission is available for claim every 7 days. There are two claimable tasks - **acquiring 50 followers** in 7 days after the last refresh and **interacting with the platform for 7 straight days**.
**One-Time Mission**. One-Time missions are linked to a lander's progress on the platform. On completion of one task level, the mission upgrades to a higher one.
**Special Mission**. This is a referral task. When a user successfully invites a friend, both receives 7.5 XTM. The referral is required to complete both account verification and mission power up bar before this reward is distributed.

FPL - Lixten Joins The League of Crypto
A couple of days ago, I happened on Bmjc98's post "Fantasy Football League: Gameweek 24" which piqued my interest. I've always loved sports (especially soccer) and the premier league is my favorite in the world. So knowing that the league is remaining 14 gameweeks to end and I have zero chance at winning anything in the Club1BCH organized fantasy league, I still wanted to take part in the fun. I inquired on how to join the fantasy league in the comments. And about an hour later, I received a reply from @PVMihalache

Without wasting time or replying to his reply, I scrolled up to the post's 'Topics' and I saw 'Fantasy Football League'
I tapped on it and luckily for me, I didn't have to scroll for long as there were just 7 articles within the topic. I didn't want to open several posting in search Of the link, so it was a no-brainer when I saw a post with the title "Join The Fun: Club1BCH's Fantasy Football League" and it did.
And viola! - the link was there. The post also linked to an article by Crackers from which I got more details about The League of Crypto. Selecting My Squad
Selecting players with a budget of £100 wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. At first, I didn't consider the budget as I selected top players and my favorite players like Ronaldo, Salah, Son, etc. After selecting the 11th player (with 4 more to complete my squad) my budget balance was already running on a negative figure.
I had to remove most of the top and expensive players I selected and went for less expensive players who are in form and with high points within their various categories.
After so much reshuffling I settled for this squad, with £0.8 money remaining.

Picking My Team
The next step after selecting 15 players to make up my squad was picking 11 players that will start for my team (Starting XI). I picked my team's starting xi based on players' current form and their opponent in the next game week fixtures.
My team is ready, next is **selecting a captain** which didn't take much deliberately as Salah is my favorite in the team and the top FPL player with the highest point. I thought of maximizing that by using the 'Triple Captain' chip. Picking a vice-captain didn't come as easy as selecting a captain. I have already changed my team's vice-captain five times before settling with Bowen.
My team is ready, now waiting patiently for the next fixture to score my first points with the boys.
Next Fixture
All my players except for *Coady of Wolves*, who is not in my starting IX will play on Saturday. So I look forward to my first point this season.

The only familiar name on there is @George_Dee, I've read a couple of his articles here. And that's me there at the bottom - not within the league ranking but alone in the 'New entries'.
Well, my goal now is to have fun and not up as the last on the ranking. The challenge now is to surpass the last-placed team 'GM TEAM'.

Lost Valentine II
*"Efe", I called, grinning as she endearingly grabbed my arm.*

Memories of both of us together swam through my thoughts. They always did from time to time but, unlike flashing like they usually had, they were crooning now, and were lying to rest there. She and I at the fountain near our University where we seemed to almost always be, at the many gallery openings and park fairs, our late nights out and midnight parties, and our last time together at De Magere Brug; the time I had told her that I liked her but she never heard.
We had been friends, very close friends and she had always treated me like a sort of best friend although, I saw her as more. We had met in our final years in college, in the second year since I had moved here which was her own first year. I was the only Nigerian she knew apart from her family, and we lived in the same apartment. But, we separated after seven months of knowing each other when she had to move elsewhere. I knew that she was caught under many complicated situations at that time so, it happened that I never heard from her nor saw her again. Until now, there she was, at the same table with me, under the warm glow of the diner's lights.
"This is one huge coffee treat." She said with a chuckle. I gave a small laugh at that. She didn't seem to have changed at all. She still looked and acted exactly the same as I saw her a year and a half ago. Not that I had expected her to have undergone a sudden transformation (although I half feared so) but I was swarming with emotions at having her there, as it felt the same again... Like it was back ago. I looked with humour at the result of my excuse to have coffee with her. A dinner. I remember how much I always looked forward to those and my heart still flipped sitting here, doing that.
"You know that I'm an addict of cunning excuses." I smiled. And again, she laughed. She was wearing my cashmere scarf now (I bought it faster and had wrapped it around her neck) and she'd pulled off her huge shades and laid them on the table. Her face looked happier that way.
Our dinner was getting served and I had a lot of questions I wanted to ask her. Why was she back here? When did she return? What had happened all along? How had she been? I wanted to be caught up on everything I hadn't known about her for the past one and a half years. I wanted to hear all about it. I could tell her mine too. I intended to ask once we began eating.
"How have you been?" I asked, a little huskily. I feared to hear the worst. But she bobbed her head up and down.
"Good. I've been coping." She said simply. I didn't believe fully though. She usually underrated situations.
Her eyes softened. "And how have you been too?" She asked.
"Awful. Very awful, since you left." I wanted to say, but I knew that she didn't need to hear that. It would hurt her and she might feel guilty. But it wasn't her fault that she left and had to cut connections with everybody, including me. So I just said; "Fine. I've been trying."
She looked sadly at me and went; "I hoped so. I really hoped you'ld be."
Calmly, I asked her a few other things, careful not to touch any sensitive one. We didn't have to talk about those today. Today, I just wanted to be happy that she was here. It had been a miracle, an unexpected surprise. With a small voice, she told me why she had returned and a few details of what happened in between.
She had been engaged when I met her, to a white guy named Davies. I knew that she had met him when she was in London. I never met Davies but I knew that he wasn't a very great person. She didn't like him but her father had wanted her to marry him. I remembered that he didn't visit even once while she was here. I had learnt a lot about what she'd seen as her 'messed up' life and I had tried my best to make her live another different from the one she'd had before and it had been awesome. Through that period, I grew attached to her although I couldn't tell her then. She was engaged after all. But then, things went sour when her father had come to 'force' her out. He hadn't been in support of her coming to take her last course here, he didn't even know about it in fact. Her dull witted and possessive fiance who hadn't liked their long distance relationship had somehow let her father in on it and everything else had happened. Now, she was back and from the small bits of the story she gave me, Davies was getting himself in trouble and she had left him to run back here; the only place that she knew trustable people.
She wasn't happy recounting most of what she told me, but I knew that she definitely felt relieved telling it to a friend. The atmosphere afterwards was bright. Over the rest of the dinner, we talked and cracked jokes. However, we didn't touch the serious parts. I was especially careful not to, although I was burning to satisfy my curiosity about many other things from her half told story. Instead, I made fun and told her about crazy things that had happened with me and with people we both knew.
It was wonderful how that day had transformed. I cancelled all the plans I had previously to spend my time. They weren't actually important (most of the activities had been 'single' things) now that she was here. I recalled that it was Valentine and I told her.
"Fancy us meeting today of all days." She said with a huge smile.
"Maybe it's a sign." I answered. It was more than a sign to me. For I, who knew what luck that day had brought to me, it was a blessing that I had to use.
"A sign for what?" She asked.
"That you're my Val today." I told her. "And you wouldn't believe how long I've been waiting for this." I wanted to add. But I didn't. Instead, I grabbed her wrist and said it was time to leave. It was already past four pm and I had tons of things I had dreamt to do.

Lost Valentine

The cold street rang with the Valentine songs from the stereo of the small stores that sold winter stuff- caps and cardigans and scarves. February but winter hadn't really begun to leave; it was still snowing in fact, and I was like everyone else- snuggled in thick fur jackets. Despite the cold, the street was alive and merry with Valentine's day celebrations. Red love wreaths and threaded flowers hung around street lamps and walls, and couples on the street wore matching red and white outfits, taking pictures by the fountain side. At times like this, the square was like a magical world but for me, it was merely a cold season which I had to spend alone. I puffed air out thickly from my lungs. I could see the white 'smoke' that came from it in front of me. The sight took me thought- time-traveling; ferried me instantly to the nostalgic memories of myself and other children playing out in the cold, covered with our mothers' wrappers. I thought; it would be harmattan this period, back in Nigeria. On mornings as these, we; the children would be out in that cold smoking invisible cigarettes (the smoky air that came out from our mouths whenever we breathed or puffed air out); while our parents will yell at us from inside the house. A faint smile crossed my lips. I missed those memories.
Half absent-mindedly, I strolled to one of the stores playing from stereos. There was a particular blue striped red scarf that I had been meaning to buy, and I thought I should get for myself as a gift. It was for my birthday, which was in two days. I always got presents for myself on my birthdays since I came here; three years ago. And, I would usually buy what my mother would have gotten for me if she lived here too. 'She would love this scarf!' I thought, keeping it at the back of my mind to make a video call with her, wearing it.
"The red and blue cashmere scarf, please." I told the salesman. Although, then it seemed like someone said that too at the same time I did. I turned to my side and saw a lady bundled up in a dark green winter coat and dark glasses. One almost couldn't see her. She had her face to my side now and was peering curiously at me. That look... I knew it. But I couldn't tell. I turned back to the salesman who was glancing left and right at the both of us confusedly. "There's only one of it", he said looking at me as if he expected me to give it up for the lady. But I was already distracted looking at her again. Her woolen scarf had shifted from her face and I could see her more clearly. That was when I knew instantly. I could never mistake her, but it was unbelievable. The first thing that crossed my mind was; did she not recognize me? It would be here that I would least expect to run into her so I was excused for not recognizing her at first but at that, I was even surprised at myself. She was someone I should know anywhere because I couldn't have gotten her picture out of my mind. Apart from the fact that she had distinct facial features that I could spot from an impossible distance, she had already had a deep and lasting memory with me. But I wondered how her eyes hadn't still lit up with recognition at seeing me. Surely I wasn't that easily forgettable, was I?
For a moment, waves of disappointment and some anger washed over me and I was caught between the options of calling her name and reminding her who I was and simply ignoring knowing her. I would have chosen the latter much against my will but, before I could decide, she had chosen for me.
"Michael?" She said in a sort of question and exclamation. And suddenly, she laughed. So loud and so hard. Her laughter then eased my tension and I felt so glad that I couldn't help grinning.
"My!" She covered her mouth with her hands. "Were you hiding or what?" She asked in between her laughter and excited giggles.
Two people felt relief immediately. The salesman, who must have been torn with worry and guilt at having to sell the scarf to only one person and possibly lose an angry customer, was now looking happier that we knew each other and, I felt relief too. That, along with many other emotions and for so many reasons. Joy at seeing her again, more joy at seeing her looking okay, and some belly ache. I had missed her so much, and there were other emotional remains from when I had seen her last and the months in between then and now. But I was mostly glad.
"Efe", I called, grinning as she endearingly grabbed my arm.
