Short posts Today we're releasing short posts. To test the system I've added a short post to unofficial Read.Cash (f4d8) community by @Koush : https://read.cash/c/readcash-f4d8
Well, that's about all I have to say about this. :) Except maybe that short posts are very much in beta and probably contain bugs. P.S I forgot to mention that short posts are qualified for points exactly like comments - **60 characters minimum**. But since there's some initial moderation involved, the reward is slightly bigger (5 vs 4 points).

Love this feature. I would really like to see more people downvoting bad content to maintain the quality of posts on the community. Maybe you as the admin can post about it and ask people to encourage downvoting bad posts?
Yes, you can do that of course. We are also thinking about how to stimulate downvotes for bad content, but avoiding [the cobra effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobra_effect) (essentially by rewarding people for downvoting bad content you ask people to create bad content themselves which they'll downvote for the reward).
I think downvoting content should not carry any rewards with it. It should be purely done to keep the quality of content high. That way maybe avoid the cobra effect. People would do it just to keep the quality high. Thoughts?
But the effect of the downvote should affect the reward abilities of the content posted. So with enough downvotes people should be able to bring down the points of a post to 0 from say 25 if someone is gaming the system.
It is already like that ("Your article get a thumbs down: -0.2 points"), but we need to be really careful about this as not to stimulate people to create downvote brigades (we're monitoring it). Basically, when you have a registration system that doesn't require a passport you can't fully trust your users to correctly up or down vote posts :) So, we need to be really careful about this.
Good to know that system is already in place. And yes everyone on the platform needs to use it wisely!
this is too funny. I wanted to request for something like excactly that. A shoutout box or something. Thank you again
So now you can be writing this short article in case you have a question or a simple thought. Look good but what is the difference? except the points of course.
The difference is in intent. Article is supposed to be giving a long explanation about something and is therefore much more valuable. A short post is just like that - it's either a short update or a question. Articles aren't the best medium to start a discussion especially if you have a question. Basically, it's our replacement for the forums.
Uh okay. All clear now! Thanks for your replay. So those short articles won't show in the main page?
They will if a) they are made by someone you're subscribed to, or b) they get 5 thumbs up (currently, if there are too many of them, we'll raise this number).
I got your point now. This will make things a bit better, and it won't be hard for the moderators to deal with. At least I think so.
Here's a good example of something that doesn't deserve an article on its own: https://read.cash/c/readcash-f4d8/post-af14503c It's an important update nevertheless.
Are there any plans to take action against such parasites? https://read.cash/@Muhammedolaitan_91
Firstly, I can assure you he has a very low point buyout rate, just like everyone else copy-pasting articles. Secondly, [of course](https://read.cash/@Read.Cash/some-plans-for-communities-3b38e8ce#our-plan), we're just at step #2 of 4 steps. We don't even expect for spam to come down before step #4.
Thank you very much for the answer. I appreciate it. It's probably the momentum of success. The number of users and communities is growing rapidly.
We've hit 4000 users today! :)
That is really good, I've posted some small posts recently and this is a good addition to read.cah.h
This is interesting but where will we draw the line. What qualifies as a short post.. 10 words.. 100.. 500? Some people think 100 is short and some people struggle putting together 100 words at one time :)
Oh right, I forgot to mention that. Short posts are qualified for comments exactly like comments - 60 characters. But since there's initial moderation involved, the reward is slightly bigger (5 vs 4 points).
This is really a good feature.. now I can drop small post to my community to update them on certain matter.. let me go and test the new feature out
Finally, this is really good. An article mustn't be upto 500 words or aphabets before it should be awarded points. This is good. Thank you so much for considering this feature at least
The article minimum is 500 characters, not words. For short posts it's just like for comments - 60 characters (which is shorter than one line on a desktop computer).
Nice update @Read.cash. To me I don't think adding short post into communities is the okay, writers will abuse it just like the forum
The difference vs the forum is that short posts can only be done in communities and have moderators.
Quote men,you will see how this will go. Writers are going to create more communities just because of this before you know it everywhere clumsy.
If you are worried about spam pease read our plan https://read.cash/@Read.Cash/some-plans-for-communities-3b38e8ce#our-plan We're at step #2 of 4. After #4 it won't make much sense to create too many communities unless you can actually manager them well.
This is welcomed. Read.cash is really working towards a greater success. I need to remind read.cash that the 20% of 20 points of approved article for moderators is yet to be implemented. Kindly do something on this. Thanks.
It is implemented. It has been online for more than a day.
Nice idea of having a community like this.. we can share some short post or ask some questions. im happy about this.
More People Wil Join and Publish Content in The Communties.
Thank you for this update and thank you for making read.cash better. More power and God bless to all ❣️
How can we select if we want to write short post pr an article? I have not seen any option yet in the menu bar.
Go to a community, click "Join the community", then "Post to the community", select "Short post or a question"
Thanks for the response. I was trying to find it in the menu. Anyways will check it out
This option is so cool. We will be able to just post any updates. Thank you for this.
Well that's cool., thanks for this update. This platform has a TON of potential !
Nice update. The admins are always making things better for us all. Thanks guys
@Read.Cash Good Afternoon Short publications seem to me a very good thing, there is not always much to tell and still you should be able to make a publication. Thumbs up for short posts. I disagree with comments that encourage posts to have 500 or more words to qualify as a good post and take the system vote; Nor does it seem right to implement the negative vote with the excuse of maintaining the quality of the publications. Steemit is a social media blog that implements and maintains as a rule the use of long posts, too long to be considered a good post and the negative vote, both rules do not help the vast majority of Steemit users, on the contrary it turns out In frustration and discontent of the users who, even when they comply with the strict rules of Steemit to publish, are affected by the negative vote that casts down the efforts that are invested in creating a publication that in most cases the authors are totally ignored. A good publication does not consist in the length of the writing, but in the ability of the article to communicate something, whether it be information, thought, reflection or teaching. I came to read.cash because it was better than Steemit but if it is going to be the same as Steemit then; what is the meaning?
Nice approach
