Morning visitor in the form of a katydid just a few minutes ago. Luckily Mr. Pete and Emoci are both off running somewhere (or cat-napping somewhere) and Scar is asleep on the hood of the truck so no one was trying to eat it. I have a few of them as 'neighbors', this one seems to have a den under a shed just north of my house and then one has a den at the south end of my lot. I took this shot looking out the front door of my house yesterday afternoon, I was sitting on the couch watching TV when I saw him standing out on the other side of my driveway.

I wonder what the average life-expectancy of a washing machine is, mine has began making the odd noise here and there and I am afraid it may soon be time for a new one, or at least a good used one. This ought to keep the lil' buggers busy for a few weeks at least. The city I live in (Olney IL USA, Home of the White Squirrels) passes out free seed corn every fall to help feed the critters. I 'spike' 2 or 3 ears of corn in the morning and afternoon to feed them. It can get a bit busy out there at times, I've seen a dozen squirrels out there all at the same time arguing over the corn, and of course the cats quite often sit in fascination watching them.

Not a great shot, but this is one of three raccoons that were out at the Squirrel Tree a few minutes ago when I let Scar out. One took off running as soon as it heard me open the door, the second stuck around maybe 45 seconds, and this one was not quite sure what to do.
