@Scarred4Lyfe more from that month

I'm not a 'big' writer, more or less a haphazard one. I only write these days if something triggers a thought, and as my days are mostly the same as the same evermore can I get an 'Amen' brother, I don't do much 'deep' thinking. However, since a few people have asked to see other things I have written, here is something from 8 years ago I pulled out of the vault. I Could Have Been You I see you standing there Basking in the accolade of the masses As they stare at you through The rose colored glasses they wear That blind them to What is the real you. I hear the words, oh so fair Calling them there full of hopes And dreams...but they are merely schemes Cleverly concealed platitudes Falsely woven attitudes Giving no latitude to what others may say But me?? I refuse to wear glasses, I see what is true My eyes see the real you And know that your preening And posturing pose Brands you as foes to those Who would seek a far better truth But I have no proof... Only the clarity of the mirror that shows If I had sold my soul I could have been you, Done all that you do With only the loss of myself My soul left upon a shelf In the bargain. But when the day falls And we all answer the call of Judgement... You may find it daunting Your soul was found wanting...
