A brief discussion about "Twenty Five Twenty One" for those who are not familiar with it yet... "Twenty Five Twenty One" is a Korean drama that just recently ended last April 3.

It is starring...

  • Kim Tae-ri as "Na Hee-Do" - a fencer

  • Nam Joo-hyuk as "Back Yi-Jin" - experienced rugs to rich

  • Bona as "Ko Yu-Rim" - a fencer as well

  • Choi Hyun-wook as "Moon Ji-Woong" - pretty boy of the class

  • Lee Joo-myoung as "Ji Seung-Wan" - smartest and a class president

For you to have a glimpse of what this k-drama is about, here's the trailer...

This article is a continuation of What I Learned from “Twenty Five Twenty One” and What I Learned from “Twenty Five Twenty One” (Part 2). This is the part 3 and the last one. If you haven't read the part 1 and 2 yet, feel free to read them first. 😉

What I Learned from “Twenty Five Twenty One” (Part 3)

9. Skills don't improve consistently, it improves by steps.

This is a learning that I got from Na Hee-do's advice to her daughter, Min-chae.

"Your skills don’t improve consistently but in steps." -Na Hee-do, episode 7

Most of us felt so down already when we experience failure. Well, it is normal to feel down when we encounter failure. But other people just immediately quit or give up. They think that they will forever be stranded in the stage of failure. But in reality, if we keep on going, we will later on progress. And when we progress, failure is inevitable.

Let's always remember that failures are part of success.

10. Every family has its own story.

“Every family has its own story” —Ko Yu-rim, episode 10

Episode 10 is where they shared each other's family problems. I like how they opened up to one another without any judgments.

When someone opens up to us about their family, know that each of us has its own story and we shouldn't judge immediately.

11. Nothing lasts forever. Change is not always a bad thing.

“Nothing lasts forever. Everything is momentary. They all flow away. And that's not always a bad thing.” —Na Hee-do, episode 10

Finale Thoughts

Those are the 11 learnings that I got from "Twenty Five Twenty One".

My final thoughts about the drama... well, it is the k-drama that reflects the reality the most. It shows how beautiful our youth is and how it is just a phase in our life. As time progresses, things do changes which are inevitable. Many possibilities could happen. We could lose friendships along the way, and we could even lose a relationship along the way as well.

So many viewers didn't like the ending because Na Hee-do and Baek Yi-jin didn't end up together. Or they didn't get to know who the father of Min-chae is. But as for me, the story revolves around Hee-do's life that's within her diary. And it is inappropriate or not that fitting in the story anymore to reveal the father of Min-chae.

In my perspective, the friendship of the five lead roles... drifted apart. In the last episode, the four of them just gathered together after a long time just because of the funeral. This means, they rarely see each other. Sadly and unfortunately, but I guess most of the time, that's what really happens in real life. Our friendship with our high school or college friends will not always be rainbows and butterflies because later on, we will have different roles and responsibilities.

I have a few questions left unanswered as well by this drama but it's fine for me, somehow. Overall, I still really love this k-drama. As I've always said since episode 1, this is one of my ultimate favorites! It is one of the best coming-of-age dramas along with Reply 1988. ❤️

How about you, guys? What are your thoughts with this, especially with the ending, if ever you got to watch it already? 🤔

It's just sad for me to know that people such as our friends and family may or may not change. That's life but I want to keep my friends no matter what, I don't want the time to come wherein we will not have time for each other like strangers before.

Same here. It saddens me to think of drifting apart with my friends.

Exactly. Skills can be gained gradually by maintained practice. But there are also skills that are innate or in born. Some, already are good at it for its already in their innate or bloodline. But yes, mostly of we wanted to aimed something as well, its always a gradual process and there's no easy route for everything.

Yep, those who have innate skills are mostly called "talented". But as what they say, "hard work beats talent".

Tama sis. Skills must followed by a steps. Kailangan talaga at the first, no need to jump kasi ganun pa rin mangyayari. Wasting time lang. Dami talaga tayong natutunan sa mga kdramas sis nuh kaya yan din ang reason ba't mahilig ako sa mga Korean dramas.
