It's been a fowl day
23rd January 2022 18/23
Hello Hello you awesome readers. How was your weekend?
A new week is starting and it is going to be a very important week.
Why you ask .... Well, the 25th of January is Burns night, so I had to go shopping.
Who knows what Burns night is? Drop a comment in the comments section and I will rain a good comment or two.
Enough of that, as Burns night will be an article for another day.
Today though has been fowl or was it foul.
fowl is a noun - meaning
a bird of the order Galliformes that is kept for its eggs and flesh; a domestic cock or hen.
birds collectively, especially as the quarry of hunters.
"an abundance of game, fowl, and fish"
fowl can be confused with foul...
foul - meaning when used as an adjective
offensive to the senses, especially through having a disgusting smell or taste or being dirty.
wicked or immoral.
containing or full of noxious matter; polluted.
(of the weather) wet and stormy.
Did you get the right meaning when you read the title, or did you think that I had a typo in the title?
This might give you a clue.
When I went to the grocery store. I found some duck eggs (don't tell Dafty!). Seriously duck eggs are my favourite, the yolks are much bigger and so much more tasty than chicken eggs.
So yes I did mean fowl and not foul.
Whilst at the grocery store, I was also able to buy the vegetable that I need for Tuesday night (Burns night)
This is rapidly turning from an English lesson in to a food appreciation article. So let's carry on.
Do you have a traditional Sunday meal? In the UK on a Sunday, it was tradition to cook and sit down and have a roast meal. It could be roast chicken, roast pork or roast beef or even roast lamb or roast duck.
This afternoon I made this Roast chicken, with the chicken that I bought at the grocery store this morning.
The vegetables that I cooked were mushrooms and courgettes (zucchini) fried in butter. These are my two favourite vegetables and I cooked them my favourite way. To top it all off I then made mashed potatoes and gravy made from the chicken juices. I actually forgot to take out the Yorkshire Puddings from the freezer, oh well they will have to wait for another day. However, it was very tasty, even if I do say so myself.
What food did you have this weekend? Was it take-away (delivery) or cooked at home?
Okay that is enough of these Sunday ramblings and now it is time for me to make and drink my night time coffee and have a sneaky wee cookie. Malted Milk or Custard Creams ... decisions decisions decisions! Oh yes and then to carry on with my reading of your articles, I did read some fun ones before I wrote this one, so keep it up.
Talking about keeping things up, ADAD did you start it? Are you still saving A Dollar A Day?

The markets might have tumbled, but look how much more BCH you are saving with your dollar now compared to three weeks ago. You really are getting more bang for your buck!
Thanks for reading and have a good one!
