August 22, 2021
Sunday, August 22, a perfect day with perfect weather. The sun shone so brightly in the azure blue sky dotted with fluffy and feathery white clouds. The positive weather makes me positive because finally, I can go out and travel away from home which I have planned long ago.
Checking my noisecash account has been my first routine in the morning after visiting the crypto market on Binance. I was a bit sad seeing a small amount of tips on my last night's post. Because I know, something saddening will follow. And I was right, after posting my morning greeting, I saw zero heart value on my post. So it's my turn to experience this zero heart value, for the second time. I just hope that it won't last longer, lol.
Despite the negative news, I looked at the positive side of the day. I don't want to ruin the good vibes brought by the good weather and so I rose from the bed and opted to fulfill my travel goal for this month of Augustus.
Ride in the Ngong Ping 360 cable car
Before going to my destination, I packed my needed things first, the monopod since I traveled alone, power bank, my cap, and shades, and of course, my money, lol. I stopped by the nearest mall first and filled my tummy with food. And while eating my lunch, I called my family in the Philippines to inform them about the remittance I sent prior to taking my lunch.
I chose the chicken leg barbecue with creamy rice and iced green tea because I felt like I want to eat this set before traveling. After eating lunch, I bought a bottle of Pocari Sweat in case I need it, then I head straight to the nearest MTR station. I'm glad as well that this new station is already open so I don't need to travel by bus to Prince Edward station. It's time and money-saving.
At one in the afternoon, I reached the station. It's wide and clean and there were no many travelers. I bought my ticket worth $2.57 for Tung Chung station where Ngong Ping 360 is located.
I thought there were lesser travelers, but when I stepped onto the train, we're like sardines inside a can. A bunch of passengers hopped out on the next station so I was able to find a vacant seat. But a senior citizen hopped in, so I have no choice but to stand the whole journey, lol.
From Song Wong Toi station, I need to interchange at Nam Cheong to the Tung Chung line that will gonna be my last stop.
While writing the first portion of this article at the corner of the train near the exit door, two tall and masculine men stood in front of me. I was like "hey guys, do you wanna get my number?" Lol, feeler 🤣. But they just actually want to hop out on the next station, haha.
I thought it wasn't the interchange station yet, so I continued tapping my phone. Then the old woman called me to sit on the chair because she will be going out already. And that's the time when I checked the station. D*mn. I went past the supposed to be interchange station.
So I hopped out and walked back to the other lane and waited again for the train to arrive. Tsk. Focus Jane!
Finally, at 1:41 pm, I reached the interchange station. If not with the help of my downloaded map, I will be lost in this quite complex interchange thingy.
The lane is the same lane going to Disneyland so I planned to stop by Disneyland after my cable car adventure to ask about the process of entering the theme park. (If I still have enough time)
After a few minutes, the train arrived and there were lesser passengers inside so I found an available seat and continued writing this article.
Traveling to the last station wasn't a boring one because the outside view was so relaxing - green trees and mountains, blue sky and fluffy clouds, with cold breeze and comfy ambiance - all give positive vibes to my lonely frame.
At 2 in the afternoon, I reached the final station and the next thing I did was to locate the terminal for the cable car. Even though it wasn't my first time visiting the place Tung Chung, but it'll be my first time riding in a cable car so I wasn't familiar with the route and which place to go.
The mall in the photo above is Citygateoutlets. It is where you can find different outlets of branded merchandise. From clothes, shoes, bags, and other apparel. It's a one-stop-shop place for all kinds of discounted branded merchandise. So if you are planning to visit HK, make sure to remember this place.
Finally spotted Ngong Ping 360
I first visited the lavatory because of the call of nature. My heart was throbbing upon seeing the cable cars from afar. Seriously, I am afraid of heights too. But I need to endure this feeling enable to fulfill my travel goal.
More visitors were lining up in the ticketing area, from kids, teens, to adults, all were excited to ride in the cable car.
I got my ticket and paid $20.54.
The next thing I dis was to line up again. And my heart paced faster while drawing nearer to the cable car's platform. I just breathed deeply and thought of it like only riding a giant Ferris wheel, the same thing I did last 2019 vacation in Tagaytay.
People were onboarding by group and I was the only one onboarded alone. Poor me. It would have been fun and lesser nervous if I was with my friends who can scream with me in my journey in the air, haha.
Let's go up in the air
After I hopped in, I immediately assembled my tripod, haha. Selfie right away 🤣. Look at the weather, it is as bright as my smile, lol. Bringing my new sunglasses was really a good decision as it protected my sensitive eyes against too much brightness of the sun above.
I thought it's scary up there, but no, it wasn't. I even enjoyed taking photos above and kept on transferring from one side to another.
A good shot of the Tung Chung shoreline and skyscrapers from above.
Serene panorama of Lantau island.
I've seen people taking photos on top of the mountain and the visible trail in the photo below.
Closer shot of another cable car.
Hong Kong airport.
I spotted waterfalls from above, just zoom the photo below.
Going up the mountain.
After almost half an hour, I reached the Ngong Ping village.
More cable cars.
The village is culturally themed to incorporate into the picturesque nature of Ngong Ping.
Entrance of the village.
It is being surrounded by mountains and despite the hot weather, it is windy in the village.
Of course, I can't just leave the village without taking selfies, haha.
It was already 4 in the afternoon and I wanted to sit for a while, so I bought HK specialty, eggette, or egg waffle. And I stayed outside the shop for a moment while eating my eggette and checking my photos.
Beside this shop is a colorful staircase, so I stopped by to take a photo.
Inside the village are more food shops and apparel shops.
And souvenir shops.
Part of riding Ngong Ping 360 cable car is visiting the village, Po Lin Monastery, and the Big Buddha. So from the village, I walked forward to visit the monastery again.
I spotted several cows in the area relaxing on the grassy platforms.
The famous Po Lin Monastery, located in the Nong Ping plateau.
The stairway to the famous Big Buddha. But it is still under construction, so visitors are just up to the entrance.
That is Big Buddha on top of the mountain.
At 5 in the afternoon, I decided to head back to the village as I still need to line up at the bus terminal. I chose to ride on a bus going back home to save money, lol. I only paid $3.98 for the bus fare.
The bus left the village at 5:30 pm and reached the city after an hour.
Since it was getting late, I just decided to eat in Citygate's McDonald's and traveled back home at 7:30 in the evening. I spent another $2.57 for the fare.
It was a long and tiring journey but I was happy that I finally achieved one of my travel goals. I'm hoping for BCH to pump higher so I can sell some. I'll be using the money to fulfill my other travel goals, to visit Disneyland and Macau. 🙏🙏
I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour.
Until next time. Thanks for reading.
Shout out to @King_Gozie for putting his face on my sponsor block 😁 Thank you 😉.
