In this opportunity we will approach a little more the world of a writer. A writer is a person who uses written words in different styles and techniques to communicate ideas. They produce different forms of literary art and creative writing such as novels, short stories, books, scripts and news articles. They use language to express their ideas well. They may also use material from various genres, both fictional and nonfictional. Other writers use multiple media, such as graphics or illustrations, to communicate their ideas.
It is worth mentioning that very few writers make a living just by what they write. Even when their work is published or represented, they are able to earn money. For them it is a part-time activity and they usually supplement their income by doing other work. It is often difficult to gain the acceptance of editors in publishing companies who are the ones who help sell their work. In addition, when a job holds promise, the writer may have to adapt to the publisher's business requirements.
In relation to all this, writers have a function that is basic in this world. Thanks to historians, we have records of what came before us. They are credited with creating the first alphabet. The accounts of the conquest of New Spain have come to us through written documents. In addition, the Bible, the Iliad and the Odyssey, as well as other great works, reflect the art of past centuries. In all of them, writers have left their souls imprinted and have been censors of common life.
Fulfilling the work of the writer is a very noble task, whether it is collecting data like historians or creating stories for entertainment. Poetry gathers the metaphorical essence of the human being, a piece of his soul. Essays the thought of each era, and educational books, the way of teaching the knowledge transmitted by teachers. In fact, the characteristics of a writer are varied, many well-known authors have told what are the characteristics to be a successful author or what are the characteristics of a book in order to know how to understand and write it.
On the other hand, discipline is the basis for success in anything a person sets out to do, and writing is no exception. Discipline implies giving up the things that prevent you from achieving your goal, in this case, writing professionally. It is necessary to establish a minimum word quota to maintain the discipline that is essential for any professional. Many writers refuse to follow or learn the rules of writing, arguing that writing is an art and should be "free". Writing correctly should be the basis for any author, because even if he has good ideas, if he cannot express them effectively, they will not be appreciated or understood.
That is why a poorly written book will not only not arouse the interest of the readers, but it also decreases the possibility that a publishing house will publish the text. It is worth mentioning the qualities of writing that every writer should know: clarity, appropriateness, brevity, simplicity, harmony and abundance, qualities that are often learned after being studied. Every writer must know for whom the text being written is intended. It is not the same to write for children, for women, for teenagers or for horror lovers.
To conclude, I must say that to be a good writer it is important to have passion for writing, which may seem obvious, but many writers forget that they must have passion and have fun with their work. They may have bad days where they do not want to write, but they still want to continue, because the writer can not only be seen as a job, but as a way to transmit what is in their mind to other people. Some people who start writing admire a writer and want to imitate his or her style or write like that person. However, each person has his or her own way of expressing himself or herself, his or her sensibility and aspects in which he or she stands out more than others. Among the qualities that a writer must have is to read a lot and be a reader of any type of text, this allows us to know an infinite number of genres and also learn how to write.
