This time I will explain a little about the structure of narrative texts such as novels, stories, tales. They follow a logical order to present the facts that surround it, these texts usually order the events in sequence that make the narrative progress. The purpose of this type of text is to tell a story, whether real or imaginary. It may even include dialogue.
The narrative text has characters about whom the reader learns what happens to them. Generally, the narrative uses a character's point of view, mostly written in the first person. In addition, it can be found in all types of fiction, poetry, biography, human interest stories and anecdotes.
In that sense; for those who write this type of narrative texts need to know the elements involved in them, and know how to incorporate them into your story, you have to create a coherent structure that enhances the nuances of what you want to tell. This would be a good structure:
- First an expo idea, there the story will start in a particular way, you will introduce the main characters, you will describe the place where they will move.
- Then he writes the knot, it is where the reader meets the protagonists and their environment, but at a given moment in the knot of the story, something happens.
- Explain what and how. This part is a bit longer.
- Then, we get to the denouement; after the characters have suffered some mishaps, everything is resolved or maybe not. That will depend on each writer.
- Try to be clear about what ending you want, if you already have an idea, it will be easier. In fact, every story begins with an idea but the writer must follow a series of rules, it is a task that requires dedication, discipline and a lot of effort.
In the same vein, we can mention that the novel is part of the narrative texts, many times they tend to be reflective and also tend to be focused mostly on the drama of the characters creating a story that is intriguing to the reader. Most of the novels are extremely extensive through which stories are told.
This type of literary device is recognized worldwide and characterized by the fact that it gives the writer a great deal of freedom over the story he/she wishes to tell. The structure of a novel should not necessarily be appreciated at first sight. You must be clear about its structure and work with it thoroughly.
To do this, be sure to work well the transitions between the parts and create a sense. The idea is for the story to flow smoothly, apparently, despite the twists and turns. Although many times in literature there are no fixed rules, depending on how you want the story can be exposed, but first you should think about what is most convenient for your story.
One of the things that must be emphasized is that we must pay a lot of attention to what other writers do. To be a writer you have to read a lot, read well, because reading is an inexhaustible source of ideas, inspiration and knowledge. So when you read, look closely at how the writer structures the novel. See what happens in the first few pages, he may have adopted a traditional approach. Or maybe in the first chapter he presents the denouement.
To conclude, I want us to take into account that we must work a lot on our mentality. Because there are many setbacks that we face when writing, you will doubt yourself, your ability and your idea. Knowing how to manage your state of mind is as important as the long process of writing a text, it is as important as thinking about your protagonists or the plot of your story.
We must also point out that narrative texts are a very popular form of expression; if you haven't noticed, in our lives most of the texts we use are narrative, such as myths, legends and even novels.
Do you like narrative texts and have you ever written one?
P.S.: I am taking a course on the creation of novels, and I decided to share with you through my publications, the knowledge I am acquiring. That way we can learn together.
