Have you ever felt like you're limited in doing things, because you felt you had lots of shortcomings?

Source: Unsplash

The feeling that suddenly comes in as a realization, making you feel guilty when you wanna do something new. A voice would tell you that you aren't qualified. That you don't deserve it.

This blog is inspired by a little snippet from a song I heard on Tiktok. It's a song that goes along the lines of this:

"I can't wait to be pretty.. When that time comes, I can dance freely with lights on.. Or I can like someone without fearing if he won't like me back. I hated looking at the mirror.. I expect the worst in everyone because I think they don't like me.. But when the time comes that I'd be pretty.. Oh, the things that I'll do.."

I apologize that I may have rambled the lyrics.. and if you know what song this is, please comment down, so I can name the singer and writer of this song.

I remember having watched the same video for at least three times. The lyrics, as short as they may seem, they hit hard. It hits home. Indeed relatable. It's beautiful, though sad. Because it's a painful reality of how society has shaped us people to be living.

It's a shame how it came to a point that we've become so conscious of our appearance, and that instead of being confident, we bring ourselves down, mostly before others do. Because of the notion, "They'll find me ugly, anyway, so let me accept it in myself firsthand."

So stupidly sad. It's the hardest when we are the biggest enemy of ourselves. They say you've already lost the battle when you start to think you're gonna lose. And over time, I have realized its reality.

It may have happened at least once in our lives. One has talent in singing, but fears to join contests, because he's not confident enough of his skills. He has already this 'truth' in his mind, that "they'll not gonna like" his voice, and joining would be just a waste of time. So he'd choose to just look at other courageous individuals and wish he were them, to avoid the possibility of being rejected.

One can have passion about a particular field, but lack the will to do it, because she may have had the worst case scenario in her head. Ten percent thinking about her flaws, and the whopping ninety percent about what other people would say. She's most probably thinking others won't believe her, even ridicule her, for choosing something that she may benefit more. And in the end, she lets it get to her, until she just goes into the dark path of bearing with something she does not like, because at least, "she has an assurance here", than her own passion.

Someone out there may also be dying to confess something. To express who he really is. Yet, there is a great fear of judgment, unacceptance, or even being left out by the people he cares for. With the fear of being abandoned comes the solution of forever pretending to be someone he's not. He is miserable hiding under a mask, but "at least, he's not alone".

Different situations, but they have a common denominator. The same mindset they all have. They want to do something, they badly want to, but they choose to not pursue, just because they have already dismissed themselves the possibility of succeeding. They already thought that they're not gonna be accepted.. as if that's the scariest thing ever... like how society has thought us.

One of the most toxic things we have learned from this society is that we should always conform to the norms; otherwise, it will reject us. Odd ones are outcasts! Those that go against the flow are weird, are bad examples, and should be taught a lesson.

What lesson? Teach them by bullying them indirectly? Calling them names? Making fun of them, of the things they like doing? Tormenting them mentally and emotionally, until they decide to give up what their heart wants? Oh, how ugly this world has been, because of this trashy mindset.

Where has respect gone to, if as long as a certain person challenges another's beliefs, then a heated argument will follow? The fact that people felt the need to put up a facade whenever they go outside is a very clear clue of how negatively judgmental the world has become! And it's incredibly sad that I had to say this.

I admit that I can also be pretty judgmental on others, and I apologize to those whom I may have hurt with this attitude. It's okay to criticize people, as long as it's constructive. But sometimes, we can't just learn to shut up our mouths and say words we later regret.

Words are powerful. Really powerful, trust me. When used right, it can encourage someone. It can bring back the lost light of a sad sould. It can bring out a smile, and even promote unity and healthy relationships.

However, when used in a wrong way, it can also ignite unexpectedly unfortunate situations. It can really hurt. By now, we already know that mental and emotional wounds take longer to heal than physical, right? I think we've known this since a ling time ago, but we seem to always forget its meaning. We have heard cases of bullying/cyber-bullying causing loss of lives. It's not new to us, how many people decided to "supposedly end their pain" by perishing themselves from this cruel world. It's not a surprising fact now, that depression is one of the most critical issues we have.

Depression ain't really caused by nature, by uncontrollable phenomena, or whatever. We people cause it. Others suffering from it can tell it to you directly. People are scary.

If you've come across this article, then it maybe because you are struggling in the same way. You maybe afraid to show your true colors, fearing that you'll be left alone, and will be hated, will be mocked. You may feel that it's not worth it to be YOU, when people are not gonna accept you anyway. So you'd rather just suffer in silence, only become yourself when they are not around, and cry yourself to sleep, hoping that in your dreams, you are what you want yourself to be, and around people that'll surely stay even at your worst.

The question is, for how long, my friend? How long are you gonna stay in that situation? Until you get tired of yourself? Until you get used to pretending to be someone they'd like, and you forget the real you completely? When? Are you sure that it's still worth it? Think twice. Or thrice. Or maybe multiple times. Think about it, before you sleep.

I read a quote many years ago that says "I'd rather be hated for who I am, than be loved for who I am not."

If you are that person who has lived with this mindset, then congratulations! You have mastered the art of being the real you, and that's a wonderful thing! Over time, you'll realize that there will still be people that'd stay despite seeing a side of you they' ve never seen before. Despite seeing the things in you that were considered "flaws" by the ones that left. You will realize the people who really love you, no matter who you are. Isn't that a good thing?

So, yes! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the sign!

Start doing what you've always wanted to do. God wants to tell you to not fear anymore. Do what makes you happy, AS LONG AS you are not hurting anybody. Don't let others define your worth. Pursue your passion, and don't give up until it makes you proud, and also the people that believed in you. It may not be an easy process, of course, but it would definitely worth it.

Situations, maybe difficult, and may sometimes cause you to not be okay, but hey, if it's what you love, then you'll just keep going. And when that time comes that you finally won, you'll thank yourself for doing what makes you happy.

We would always be left in the dark if we do not make effort to get into the light of the truth about us. We all can do many things. We have the skills and abilities but we should not limit ourselves or think we can't do it, or the fear of what people will say. These things should not cloud our minds and eyes to take the step of coming out to shine because if we do not try, we cannot see our perfection.

This is really inspiring my friend πŸ‘

Yes, kung may basehan naman talaga na hindi kaya, wag na ituloy. Pero yung ibang bagay na di mo gagawin dahil lang nalilimitahan ng pwedeng sabihin ng iba. . pag nakasanayan, di rin healthy.

Easy said than done. Mahirap pa ring gawin lalo nga as you said, sarili mismo natin ang kalaban Nag iisip kasi agad ng neg sa sasabihin ng iba kaya ayon, imbe na lumabas sa comfort zone, magtatago nalang isasarado pa ng bongga ang pintuan. Hayssst. Ewan nalang.

We can do anything we want what we all need is courage and capacity to prove ourselves. Feeling discouraged or less esteem doesn’t help situations rather it destroys it. This is really a great motivation from an inspirational writer. Good job.

You are an inspirational writer. We shrug ourselves off for fear of what others will say. Then it is no longer possible to reach our real goal.

Yes, but when we become too conscious of our own actions, then it can be unhealthy, too.
