Hello, my dear people at Read.cash! Since yesterday, I've been wondering what to write. I have several ideas in drafts, but the truth is that I had no mood for developing any of them these days. And then today, I thought that I should post something that would help me cheer up my mood, I should talk about food.
Looking at my galleries I found many photos of food, and among them, some were of breakfast or brunch. For those who are not familiar with the word brunch, it's a meal that is usually made later than breakfast but a little before lunch and that substitutes both meals.
At my home, we usually have breakfast later in the morning on weekends, and on Sundays, we like to have brunch. Most of the time we do it at home, but every now and then we like to go out. Now with the pandemic, we do it much less, but still, from time to time we indulge ourselves and go out for breakfast on the weekends.
So I'm going to share some photos with you of my favorite weekend breakfast or brunch out of the home. Some of these photos you may have already seen in Noise. So yes, some Food Porn ahead!
Desayuno Criollo (Creole breakfast)
A Creole breakfast here must necessarily include arepas. But it also usually includes shredded white cheese, scrambled eggs with onions and tomatoes and we called this Perico, black beans, and shredded beef. The one in the picture instead of shredded beef has fish. Is the version of this breakfast that use to be eaten on the East coast of the country.
This photo is from before the pandemic. It's a breakfast in a hotel on Margarita Island. One of the top beach vacation destinations in the country.
Brunch at the Bakery
The most recent brunch we have had away from home was several weeks ago at a place in Caracas called Boston Bakery. The food is not bad but it's quite normal. But we always like going to the place because on Sundays they usually have live music at brunch time, local jazz or Latin music bands.
The breakfast in the photo above is my husband and son's favorite. Fried eggs with sausages, bacon, hashbrowns, and a side of pancakes. While I usually opt for the Eggs Benedict.
Empanadas
The empanadas, I'm referring to here are made of cornflour, the same that is used to make arepas. But in the case of empanadas, the dough is thinner. The fillings are varied, whatever you can think of can be used to fill an empanada.
They aren't very healthy because they are fried, but they are too tasty. Therefore, from time to time, we treat ourselves with some empanadas. We recently discovered a great empanadas stand that I've already mentioned in Noise. Where they are made instantly and are always golden and toast. And the fillings are all delicious too. My favorites are the cazón (fish) and the one with fried plantains and cheese.
Cachapas
Another favorite of our weekend's breakfast is the cachapas. These are corn cakes made with fresh grounded corn and then cooked on an iron plate. They are usually eaten with cheese. My favorites are with queso de mano which is a fresh white cheese made by hand. They are also frequently eaten with pork.
The one in the photo is from a fruit shop near my house that also has a small cafe.
And what about you? Do you have a special breakfast during weekends? Or do you use to have brunch?

All the food you have featured looks delicious but the Cachapa caught my attention as it's look like hotcake.
