The Other Side
When we were young, my youngest sister had a project in her school-- this is during her elementary days. The topic was to create a fictional story that has a valuable meaning. I don't know if Zehra can still remember this, but we helped it each other to make that project. The story goes like this:
In the world we are living, Jane came from a poor family. With no capacity to go to school, she grew up working alongside with her mother, selling vegetables on the market. She's been used on living that way and always dreaming what it was like to be rich.
Walking home, she was alone when she saw a hole in a narrow hold. She was hesitant to get close but a force dragged her. There, she saw the same exact person, it feels like she's looking in the mirror but the only difference is, the person on the other side wears a nice clothes and lived in a huge house.
Jane wanted to become rich and the other person was willing to switch places with her. She enjoyed the life of luxury. She spoiled herself on things she can't afford on the other side of her life. From eating the food she only saw on her neighbours tv to buying the toys she always wanted to have, she is living her dream life.
She thought she had it all until days after, she felt something is missing. She misses the care of her family. The delicious food that was on her table, no longer look apetizing to her. She wanted to have a warm meal shared with her parents. A meal that came from the day worth of hardwork. She wanted them to experience the beauty of life she have right now.
She goes back to the hole with the hopes of returning to her old life. In the other side of the hole, she witnessed the other Jane getting all the love she used to have. She looked contented despite having the leftover vegetables that were not sold on the market on their table, to share with the whole family for their dinner. She wanted to go back but as part of the deal of exchanging lives, she won't be able to cross the portal again, and will slowly disappears in a matter of time. She cried and prayed. She's willing to give up everything to go back to her old life. She no longer wants those fancy things, only the tight hugs from her parents is all she ever wanted right now. She woke up from that dream with tears flowing down her eyes. She lets out a sigh of relief after realizing that it was just a bad dream. Jane immediately look for her parents to hug them tight. Full of energy, she invited her parents to eat the prepared sliced of bread and 1 piece of egg for their breakfast. The world with her parents is already enough for her.
Closing Thoughts
It is a human nature to not be contented. We always crave for more. But just like Jane, I think I would want to have a simple life with my family and worked hard to reach my goal with them. Rather than, getting it all in the expense of being alone.
I'm not saying that if you're rich, you are not happy or loved. It was a fictional story we came up with when I was in highschool. It is a story that basically tells what life I wanted to live before and how reality hits me as I grew older. I realized that it can be achievable but not as easy as crossing a hole. You have to go through ups and downs, and challenges will always be there. It will be our choice to surrender and just dream of an easy life or stand up and work hard to have a life. That is life.
Sorry for the childish story. I was young when we wrote it. Haha!

Sometimes life cannot buy with a money, or other luxuries things. Branded clothes and big houses. It will ruin and turn into darkness if there is no love with it and a time for our love ones.
A lesson that we should always contented what we have. We know we want for a better but we need to be patience until the right time is already came in. While waiting be grateful on what we have right now.
