Not For The Fainthearted.
I am baffled to think you are defined by the colour of your skin
In this life, it doesn't even matter sometimes who is your kin
Your life is never dependent on what other people think
If you don't do something, you go down, faster as you rose you will sink
Everything in life happens within a flash sometimes, even a blink
You might get buddied up even with the assurance of a link
Let them urge you on with every cheer and motivating wink
If you can't look inward and show your worth, you'd be left pink
Most people ask those who get favoured the more by life
Some think it's even by finding someone to call a wife
Forgetting that life is tricky as you would always find someone holding the knife
To your neck, to your back, to your side even without necessarily having a strife
Life can be funny, confusing, demanding but rewarding
Take the focus off what people might do or won't do
Run your race and never forget that your self worth is in who you are
Most people think they have nothing to offer to anyone because of their skin colour. I totally understand that we have those who are judgemental and won't even give you a listening ear due to the colour of your skin. I have read a lot about them and I have seen quite a few of them too but they are just little compared to the billions in the world. Others may try to bring you down but don't bring yourself down.
You don't have to get them to like you but get them to respect you and respect comes when you know your worth and you are too valuable to be dispensed. A lot of people hide in their shells after one obstacle or two. They think the whole world is against them hence why they retreat and deny the world the beauty of their abilities. Not everyone would like you. Not everyone would see your worth. Not everyone would understand the value you bring but when you keep at it, they will learn to respect you because you are not going away.
It's like having a boyfriend who doesn't see the potentials you have yet and decided to let you go. Does that mean you would say no to finding love when it comes again because of the action of one man? I know most people who have said goodbye to dating all because they were broken beyond words and I get that but when people can't see your worth, own up to your part of the blame and show it. You are not trying to convince anyone but you need to remind the world who you are.
I am not an easy person to break down and that's as a result of accumulated hurts and pains. I've been thrown to the wolves many times and I came back leading the pack. It takes a lot of hurts to get to that point so please, don't give up just yet.
I've seen people change their skin colour just because they want to fit in. You don't have to fit in when you are meant to stand out. Your worth is not in your skin colour but an inherent trait you have embedded inside of you. No one can help you unless you help yourself. Most people can point you in the direction you are supposed to go but you still have to be the one to walk the length of it. Nothing is given in life as we all think. Whatever we get for free someone already paid for it so whatever you give to life what comes back to you is the result of the value you have offered.
No one owes us anything and we are responsible for how we turn out. If you won't take the needed steps then nothing is going to fall into your laps. Life is about taking risks and if you won't launch into the deep then you can't expect to achieve the results that others are having. Stop buckling under the weight of pressure easily. Life isn't meant to be easy and I can assure you, it won't get any easier so you better learn how to toughen up and confront the challenges that life offers because that's how we build strength and many others have been successful as a result of it, why should yours be different?
I know a lot of people look to you as though you are fragile
They push you hard sometimes to see if you are agile
They think life is about you running on a single mile
They should hold on, they would read your victories in a massive file
Never doubt your strength because it goes deeper than the river Nile
There is no problem if you keep hanging in there for a while
You shouldn't be an easy person, easy to be affected by the opinions of others
Pick your battles, learn to pick your fights but don't forget each lesson
Life would deal with you in its ways and differently too
You will shed tears, scream and feel down too
Many people would doubt your abilities and even your strength
I believe you would lose people along the way too whether you like it or not
Your worth isn't tied to those who left or those who doubted you
Let everyone kick you down but never forget that it's your choice to stay down
Life would try to bury you but life has forgotten you are a seed, so, germinate
It's not an easy life but trust me, your strength is a good match, dig deep
Life is not for the fainthearted and we have to keep fighting
