Howdy folks π€ how was your day?
It's a cold evening over here and I am glad it turned out cold because the sun came out quite strong as early as 7am and I feared the whole day will be hot as hell, but luckily it rained a bit in the afternoon.
Before we get into the main topic, I was roaming around YouTube earlier trying to look for something fun and interesting to watch to help put my brain in the right state for writing (I have been coding all day and my brain felt overworked towards evening) and I found this video of animals reuniting with their owners after many years. Get your tissue close to you, coz this is going to be emotional.
You will be shocked at the kind of animals people keep as a pet. Seriously, a rooster can be a pet? A sea lion? A shark? Bruh! π But let's just leave that for now and go over to the main article for today (watch the video to see some of those crazy pets).
What consumes my money?
Number one on the list and maybe the only thing even worthy of being on the list is internet data subscription! I am pretty sure this will be on top of the list of most Nigerian youths who are still living with their parents because we don't have to worry much about things like house rent and food.
Before now, I use up to $15 (NGN9000) monthly just to buy data. I usually buy a one-week data subscription but it gets finished within a day or two π so I do that almost every day and if you calculate the amount used in a month, it's up to $15 and the total data is around 40gb. I can never stay without data, it's basically what fuels my phone and work online.
But I found a better plan some months back, it gives me 45gb for just $10 (NGN6000) and the data lasts exactly for a month! So yeah, every month I spend a total of $10 on data subscription, and luckily for me, it's the most I spend on anything in a month.
what do I even use my internet data for?
The first on that list is something called "via" and that's my main browser. That's the browser I used for readcash and every other thing I do on the internet. The reason why I prefer it to chrome and other browsers is that it is very light (not up to 10MB in size) and it's very fast as well. One sweet feature I love about it is that you can use it to emulate other browsers and devices.
The next thing is YouTube and that one is not surprising because I even started this article by sharing a YouTube video π but that's not the main reason I use YouTube, I mainly use it for taking free programming courses and tutorials, as you can see from the picture below.
A lot of people use YouTube just to have fun and relax but that's not mainly what I use it for. There are tons of resources on YouTube and you can learn anything for free, but some people don't even know this and think YouTube is just a place to watch comedy videos. Do you have something you really want to learn but don't have the money to pay for tutorials? YouTube is the best place you can learn for free if you know how to use it well π
Call of duty (COD) and Netflix are my escape routes, they are what help me relax after hours of coding and reading articles. My usual routine in the morning is after replying to comments on my previous article and interacting with some articles on readcash, I play a few minutes of COD to help relax my brain before diving into coding.
Then I take occasional breaks by playing games and watching movies as I alternate between readcash and coding. But these days I barely go over to Netflix anymore, so games (and sometimes Twitter and nairaland) are ways I take breaks to help release tensions from my brain.
Hotspot and tethering is just me connecting my laptop's WiFi to my phone and I mainly use it for coding (I don't use a laptop for readcash), which involves installing software, running codes, and doing coding research. Then Whatsapp doesn't need any explanation π that's just what I use to chat, but I have limited the way I use it these days and barely go there anymore.
There are still lots of apps below that but it will be crazy to talk about those as well because there are a lot of them. But these ones I have mentioned are the ones I use every day and that take up the bulk of my data, the others are mostly things I don't use all the time. (As you can see below)
So, that's it. For now, I don't have many expenses unlike back when I was in the university and had to spend a lot on food π I am better able to save and it's the best thing to do now that the price of BCH is low, I don't have a reason for selling and I will just hodl till I really need money for something important.
At this point I would love to hear from you; what consumes your money the most? Let me know in the comment section below or if you prefer to write an article about it, then please go ahead.
Thanks for reading πππ

For me, it's definitely TikTok and twitter and maybe Whatsapp
