What consumes your money the most?

Howdy folks 🀠 how was your day?

It's a cold evening over here and I am glad it turned out cold because the sun came out quite strong as early as 7am and I feared the whole day will be hot as hell, but luckily it rained a bit in the afternoon.

Before we get into the main topic, I was roaming around YouTube earlier trying to look for something fun and interesting to watch to help put my brain in the right state for writing (I have been coding all day and my brain felt overworked towards evening) and I found this video of animals reuniting with their owners after many years. Get your tissue close to you, coz this is going to be emotional.

You will be shocked at the kind of animals people keep as a pet. Seriously, a rooster can be a pet? A sea lion? A shark? Bruh! πŸ’€ But let's just leave that for now and go over to the main article for today (watch the video to see some of those crazy pets).

What consumes my money?

Number one on the list and maybe the only thing even worthy of being on the list is internet data subscription! I am pretty sure this will be on top of the list of most Nigerian youths who are still living with their parents because we don't have to worry much about things like house rent and food.

Before now, I use up to $15 (NGN9000) monthly just to buy data. I usually buy a one-week data subscription but it gets finished within a day or two πŸ˜† so I do that almost every day and if you calculate the amount used in a month, it's up to $15 and the total data is around 40gb. I can never stay without data, it's basically what fuels my phone and work online.

But I found a better plan some months back, it gives me 45gb for just $10 (NGN6000) and the data lasts exactly for a month! So yeah, every month I spend a total of $10 on data subscription, and luckily for me, it's the most I spend on anything in a month.

what do I even use my internet data for?

Total used is 46gb

The first on that list is something called "via" and that's my main browser. That's the browser I used for readcash and every other thing I do on the internet. The reason why I prefer it to chrome and other browsers is that it is very light (not up to 10MB in size) and it's very fast as well. One sweet feature I love about it is that you can use it to emulate other browsers and devices.

The next thing is YouTube and that one is not surprising because I even started this article by sharing a YouTube video πŸ˜† but that's not the main reason I use YouTube, I mainly use it for taking free programming courses and tutorials, as you can see from the picture below.

The first two videos are 7 hours and 5 hours long respectively

A lot of people use YouTube just to have fun and relax but that's not mainly what I use it for. There are tons of resources on YouTube and you can learn anything for free, but some people don't even know this and think YouTube is just a place to watch comedy videos. Do you have something you really want to learn but don't have the money to pay for tutorials? YouTube is the best place you can learn for free if you know how to use it well πŸ˜‰

Call of duty (COD) and Netflix are my escape routes, they are what help me relax after hours of coding and reading articles. My usual routine in the morning is after replying to comments on my previous article and interacting with some articles on readcash, I play a few minutes of COD to help relax my brain before diving into coding.

Then I take occasional breaks by playing games and watching movies as I alternate between readcash and coding. But these days I barely go over to Netflix anymore, so games (and sometimes Twitter and nairaland) are ways I take breaks to help release tensions from my brain.

Hotspot and tethering is just me connecting my laptop's WiFi to my phone and I mainly use it for coding (I don't use a laptop for readcash), which involves installing software, running codes, and doing coding research. Then Whatsapp doesn't need any explanation πŸ˜† that's just what I use to chat, but I have limited the way I use it these days and barely go there anymore.

There are still lots of apps below that but it will be crazy to talk about those as well because there are a lot of them. But these ones I have mentioned are the ones I use every day and that take up the bulk of my data, the others are mostly things I don't use all the time. (As you can see below)

So, that's it. For now, I don't have many expenses unlike back when I was in the university and had to spend a lot on food πŸ˜† I am better able to save and it's the best thing to do now that the price of BCH is low, I don't have a reason for selling and I will just hodl till I really need money for something important.

At this point I would love to hear from you; what consumes your money the most? Let me know in the comment section below or if you prefer to write an article about it, then please go ahead.

Thanks for reading πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Lmao πŸ˜‚, that's how I was managing mine and still end up spending close to 9k in a month, those network providers are ripping us off in this country

I spend a lot on data too in a month. But I feel feeding consumes a lot of money than it.

I have always wanted to learn how to code I think I need to reach out to you. Since I need someone I can relate with

These days I really don't know how much I spend on data cos I don't subscribe myself so what spends my money for me would be junk...I can't say food cos I'm at home and mummy feeds me but junk is something I have to find myself...my addictive soft drink intake almost everyday, ice cream, pizza... you name them.

$ 0.02

Ah, you dey enjoy o, pizza ke? I also love junk food a lot but these days I just have to take note of my priorities and only spend on things that are important, now that the rumour of things falling apart is just trending, I need to save every little money I make

I wonder if these animals they keep as pets wonΒ΄t eat them someday. I cannot risk my life keeping those wild and dangerous animals in the home with me.

My money goes into data subscriptions and food. I spend more than 7k per month too as I subscribed to 10GB (3500) twice or thrice a month depending on how I use the data and the next thing is browsing and watching movies on Netflix.

Imagine someone keeping a shark as pet and even going under water to meet it, how will he run if the shark just goes crazy one day? πŸ˜†

As for your data plan, you can just do 6k plan for 45GB but the downside with that plan is that they won't give you the 45gb at once, they will be giving you 1.5gb everyday for 30 days. So if you don't use more than 1.5gb daily, then it's perfect for you. The plan will last exactly for 30 days, that's what I am using for now and most times I don't even exhaust the 1.5gb in a day, then they will push the remaining one and add it to the next day own

$ 0.00

That seems a nice idea oo. But you know it's somehow in your body releasing all 6k at once πŸ˜…πŸ˜… At least I am still not bothered if I pay 3500 twice😁

That's also what I thought when I first heard about the data plan, until I thought about it and discovered I was spending over 9k on data in a month. At least with this one I am saving 3k

Wait did you say someone had shark as a pet? How does he/she gives it a pet on the head?πŸ€” You be AZA Sha, 6k for data for a month. Make I send my number make you sub small gb for me?😁

The guy enter the water to pet the shark o, he carry oxygen tank follow body πŸ˜‚ You dey call me agba, some people here use more than 10k in a month to buy data but they never know yet. They buy data in small amount so they will think the price is not big πŸ˜†

After reading this I had to check out what consumes data in my phone, I can't believe that the play store comes first with data usage of 8.24GB and then metamask follows before we have WhatsApp and the rest.

If you use up to 1gb everyday, then I will suggest you use MTN always-on plan. It's 6k for a month and they will be giving you 1.5gb every day for 30 days. Even if you don't use the 1.5gb finish in a day, they will add the remaining one to the next day's own. Na wetin I dey use now and it's the best plan so far 😁

I spend a lot on data as well. Some of the apps that consume them are as follows. Chrome, WhatsApp, Tiktok, and Facebook. Those are the four heavyweights. Anyway, what type of phone do you use? That a Xiaomi product?

You watch TikTok? That thing consumes more data than Instagram, you are trying o. My phone is Tecno pova

I also spend a lot on data. And what consumes my data more is YouTube but I mostly learn about tech and crypto. And I think I'm not far from launching my YouTube channel and a blog to go along with it. I'm trying to perfect some skills, though I know the best way to perfect it, is to just launch it. Thanks Kushyzee.
