When the going gets tough.

I should probably start with ***"Happy New Month everyone!"***
The New year came and is gradually going by so fast, and I'm here wondering just how much time has passed. For me, especially. It pretty much comes with not reaching up to the set standard, like underachieving in moments when I should be giving more, and basically throwing in the towel when faced with daunting tasks and challenges.
It's quite disappointing, really!
Now, we've begun a new Month and I'm still trying to find my footing. I wouldn't know if I'll find myself winning and, screaming with much gusto at the end of it all, or perhaps, if I'll continue in the same way that I've been of late. Confused still. Without a sense of where I'm supposed to be at, whilst trying to figure out who I am.
When I think back on it, the Month of December has actually served me so much fun memories. I mean it's pretty much been one of my favorite Month after my birth Month - which was the last Month by the way. (November 2nd!). I must say that things have gotten more intense, more real. Cos' back then it felt like I was living in another world. A fantasy world. Haha! (Huge sigh!).
Just yesterday, I was thinking of how to turn things for the better. How to engage life positively. It hasn't been the prettiest last few weeks, but I hope to get the best of the remaining ones before drawing the curtain for the year.
Thinking positive thoughts and, being intentional may seem outlandish, especially now. But we never know what life has in store. The going may be tough, but it'll eventually birth something worthwhile in the long run.
I must believe it!
Thank you for being here.
Club1BCH Fantasy League - FPL Weekend Takeaways so far.
For football fans around the world weekends are always the times when we get to sit and follow our respective clubs. Through huge wins and humbling losses, the world of football never ceases to disappoint. Fans, however, aren't scared to analyse their teams performances after each game. For some it's just for the fun of watching the beautiful game, but for others it's more than that. Me, included.
The Fantasy Premier League is one exciting platform to show just how good you are at handling your preferred team - by making transfer decisions, and selecting a line up for the sole purpose of competing.
I am more than glad that the Club1BCH decided to spice things up by creating a league for FPL managers/users to converge and compete for prizes. (Awesome, right?). Well, yeah. I was glad to be able to register, and now the face off has begun.

FPL GW3 WEEKEND TAKEAWAY, so far...
My FPL season started a tad shaky. But, none of that for now. I'll just get on with yesterday's *should've beens* and the whatnots.
Just before the first kick off of GW3 I was certain that whichever player I was gonna select for the weekends bout had to perform. Unlike the previous gameweek a couple of desperate selections cost me quite a few number of points, and I wouldn't lie about it not getting on my nerves. But, what can man do?
Using a 4-4-2 formation was so that I could get more numbers in the central area. Right? But, seeing that not all of the midfield players put in quite the performance for much needed points (excl. Mason who's yet to feature today) there wasn't much misgivings about the selection. Except for an obvious omission of a certain player from my first GW - Martin Odegaard.
My strike partnership were bound to be stellar performers on paper - with both players featuring at Fulham and Bournemouth respectively. Yet, only one (Toney - If only I gave him the cap role), managed to score. Don't get me wrong Jesus was a 9/10 for me yesterday with his all round play, and assist. If only his goal wasn't ruled offside. Aside from that, the team was on a cruise. So, much of the backline would be playing later today, maybe I should leave the comments for later.
Conclusion
Well, that about does it for GW3 so far. I am sure there'd be lots more excitement coming later today. With the blue boys going out for three massive points, and then the Reds logging heads in Manchester on Monday night. The Footballing drama that awaits is bound to be fun filled. Haha!

Hello, read.cash family. How long has it been? A Month, and the half? Wow! Might I add that the days have gone by us rather swiftly. I trust every single one of you have been faring nicely?
To my subscribers, and immediate viewers I deeply regret not being here sooner. *Ah!* If I were to speak extensively on the recent happenings, it might take a while. But, I'll hold off on some of the details until an appointed time.
I don't know if making a post foremost is the right thing to do. I mean, considering my many days away..., still, I thought that perhaps doing this when I had the chance is the best way to start before seeing to the mammoth pile of notifications waiting to be unread.
Well, to reiterate, this is just the first of my many post for a while and although it doesn't necessarily count as a worthy Article or, content, it'll be as though my presence here can be likened to a newbie. *Haha!* Forgive my uncanny my wittiness, but I'll say... I am rather glad to be here again. I certainly do not expect things to go back to the way they were right away, but like they say ***"small steps".***

A little pain here, a little gain there.
Monday, June 27th 2022.
The last couple of weeks were filled with plenty of uneventful activities. I was rather stuck, psychologically, without an objective or drive to get more out of life. Out of my life. The experience was painful. I never thought there'd come a time where I wouldn't want to do the things I love.
Writing, or in this case, journalling for many can be said to be therapeutic, and I reckon this to be true especially for the mind. In those many days away from read.cash I felt a large part of me was void of purpose, and direction. That i was caught in a loop. However, I came to the realization that perhaps a lot of people also felt the same way at one point in their lives, but what matters is the sheer desire to not give in to any of it.
By the way, It just so happen that not all of those times spent away from writing was a complete waste... The gains were a little more than the pain. Well, even the popular saying attests to the former being a resultant effect of the latter. Like so, **"No pain, no gain".**
Anyway, as regards my Amazon kdp classes, the one I have taken a strong interests in after much deliberation, sort of paved a way for me to express, no, what's the word..., navigate through my writing journey, and it ultimately will make me learn what I need to in the far future.
I downloaded some videos on YouTube, but I must say, some of them weren't as informative as I expected. They only revealed snippets of infos on a topic - particularly, when it comes to the business side of things. Which brings me to yet another realisation that I simply cannot find a balance to my activity on read, and productivity on a completely different platform.
***I'm torn, but a little advise on what to do would really help.***
Celebrating Four Months on Read.cash
In spite of my many absence here, I was happy to see that I am already Four Months old. I know I probably should've put in more effort, and that just talking about it wouldn't change anything until I put in the work, but that pretty much sums up what I have been trynna pass across.
I am glad however that I still have some really great people here who constantly give out great contents.
@Talecharm being the first on that list. (Not that I'm being overly biased or anything). But, her support goes to show just how wonderful of a person she really is. My first ever sponsor on read... I am grateful for the tips, comments and up-votes, dear friend. I haven't been active these last few days, but I'll try to make up for it as soon as I can...
@Ellawrites reading you on a daily before all the unprecedented events creeped into my not-so-satisfying daily routine was enormous, to a great extent, your inspiring, intriguing, and mind boggling Articles usually made me wanna do more, even if it's just a little. Haha.
All the same, dear Elle, you are one of the few persons I respect.
@Olasquare, I may have missed a handful of your Articles, good sir. Still, I am always in awe by how much wisdom are contained in your words. My big brother always says something about the beauty in the wisdom of Men with grey heads. I highly respect that. I haven't met you yet, but I'm convinced that your words are always seasoned with Grace. I'll try as much as I can to read all the Articles I've missed. :)
I must also mention @Kushyzee , @Kristofferquincy , @Tomi-Ajax , @Auroraviolet , @GarrethGrey07 , e.t.c..., I sure have missed you guys.
Thank you all for always sticking with me.
Means a lot.
Lest I forget, someone mentioned once that I must develop a habit of saying Hi to Rusty. Which was strange. But, I should probably do it, no?
Maybe in my next post. Lol
P.S
I got notified of my expired sponsorship. I'll try and renew 'em as soon as I can. Even when I DID something about it when I came on here a few days ago, must've been an issue but I hope it's been resolved now.
Thank you to my Sponsors for being there. And like I always say, y'all are the real MVPs. :D
Until we meet again.
Cheers.

I am back, finally. God, it seems like I've been away forever.
So much to talk about. So much to do. How has everyone of you faired these past few days? Brilliantly, I presume?
Let's get to it, then. :D
Shedding misplaced Sentiments.
Wednesday, June 15th 2022.
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/JD0D-lReHFE
Hello good folks. How did your day go? Mine was a mix of dullness, and excitement. Especially, when I decided to engage a couple of persons on a little talk.
See, it had to do with the current situation of the country. Election is around the corner, although i would *sooner* it gets done and over with, still it is crucial i not get ahead of ourselves. Lol
Okay, so, I raised a question because I was curious to know who these people want to preside over them next year.
I asked them:
*If your vote could decide the winner for next year's Election, whom would you choose?*
***
Naturally, I always try my best to *shirk* away from anything that has to with *politicking*, especially since I figured there was always too much that doesn't sit right with me about it.
We can all agree that there are corrupt politicians, to some degree, in different parts of the world. In other countries there are more corrupt leaders put in their positions solely because of our imprudence. It may be true that we are/were at fault for electing them to their seats, seeing that when it matters most we always choose to put reasoning away.
They spoke amongst themselves, and frankly a large number decided on a particular candidate. It was like I was the only one who wanted someone different to take the reigns. It wasn't a fun sight. It was as if they'd go "***off with his head***" if I didn't choose wisely next year. Haha.
In their "*plight*", they wondered why I would waste my vote on someone who doesn't stand any chance of winning. Basically, what they were trying to say was that the Man's rule wouldn't favor them - because he is ***unknown***. So only the known, influential and powerful CAN win (/rig) any election. That's just wrong. A misplaced sentiment, is what I call it, and like before, they are choosing to follow a system that has caused more harm than good.
That's my thought on the failed leadership that plagued the nation over the last decade. We, the people, didn't do enough. But, now there's a chance to set things right, but it seems like they are going to make the same mistake. Now I'm not putting up this post to campaign or, anything for a candidate. I'm jus' sayin'...
The bottom line is, of course, my vote counts. It matters that anybody can use his/her vote in order to choose the one they think can lead their country.
If our votes does not count, when does it?
Writer's Note
I recall the infamous incident on October two years ago, a massacre, as many like to call it. The government weren't interested then, and rubbished eyewitness reports of the unfortunate event. It'll live on in the minds of many for years.
I'd rather OBIdiently cast my vote fairly next year. Like they say amongst my fellow Nigerians, ***if you don't gerrit, forget aboureet.***
:D
Thank you for reading.
Until next time.

Throwing the guilt out the window.
Monday, June 13th 2022.
Journal 001.
The wake of recent events
During the past week I wallowed in despair, guilt, and regret. Some things have a way of disturbing the stillness you tried so hard to protect - like, after doing whatever you can to stay sane; Life throws a punch and before you know it you've fallen flat on your back.
I wasn't sure I'd return, because I never wanted to write here anymore. In a way, i stopped writing altogether. I didn't read the books I got, because I was too busy feeling too much. I just switched off.
I wanted to give up on a LOT of things. For a while there, It seemed like my heart wasn't made to contain any heartache, cos I felt like the more I sank in the depths of my own thoughts, the more difficult it was.
I was tired, and i told myself I needed a break from it all.
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/sO6yji4O_FI
The burden was heavy, and it's resulting effect on my sanity was overwhelming, so to speak. It's never easy to loose someone you care about.
What's even more worse is the fact that after everything, in a long while, the memories of these people would begin to fade like a gust of dry wind blowing on a desert land. They'll efface from your thoughts, and in that moment, you realise all that remains is oblivion. It was frustrating, and quite sad, really, how these things happen.
*How, when we want to feel disheartened, and utterly despondent, the mind works ways to shift our attention to something else. It was strange.*
I wondered if it was some sort of mechanism that's been set up inside to deny us from shutting down?
Or, perhaps, I have gotten numb to feeling a pain that should've lingered instead.
Will I ever know?
All of this happened in a week.
Deciding to Feel Better

Maybe it's not too bad to care so much for someone that when they eventually leave us, at some point, we remember their impressions, words and impact in our lives.
One could say, perhaps, the negativity kind of steered me to a path, a promising one. Because I can go back to my books now. I didn't want to psyche myself into thinking only the bad things exist in this world, because there's good out here too. It does exist.
I prolly should resume my Amazon KDP video lessons. It's a good start. Although for now, I am *abreast* with only the minor details... downloading more YouTube videos would go a long way. I saw a post on my status that encourages beginners to pay for Mentorship and Tutoring if ever we wanted lasting success. It was sweet and all, but then I'm only making do with what I can afford. :D
Writer's Note
That ends it, then. I apologize for ranting about my issues. I didn't know how I could resume with all the engagements, and interactions amongst the rest... :)
Appreciate you for being here.
Thank you for reading.

Help! I lost myself. Again!
Sunday, June 5th 2022.
This post is a follow up to the one I wrote about yesterday. In that post I shared about a concern of mine. It basically centered upon the current state of affairs happening around me.
***Heavy sigh!***
What can I say? 🥺
I am torn.
Somehow, I feel like I've lost myself. AGAIN!
The world has gone Mad, like Mr. @Olasquare said once... The killings today saddened me. But what little thing I knew of it became overwhelmed by a more devasting... news... I received from my Mom today.
**Sobs 😭**
I don't even know if I'm in right mind now. I'm confused. Just like that... I lost him. My Uncle.
What am I even doing!?
.
.
.
Christ!!
*(I'm sorry).*
.
Will I be able to heal from this?
I don't know anything anymore.
He was only taken to the hospital yesterday. They say he had Ulcer. ***Couldn't it have been treated?*** I had no idea that could kill anybody!
So, this is how someone looses a life!
He was hearty a couple days ago. **Why now!**
.
.
This is probably the darkest time of my entire life.
I think I should stop at this juncture. Writing here isn't helping. I couldn't even think up any title...
😩😫😭
.
.
I have to go.
I'll not be posting anything for a couple of days. My mind is jumbled up. Ahh!
Until I write you all next time.
Goodbye.
Until it happens to you...

I thought hard about whether I should write today or not. In truth, I didn't want to write. Something happened at dusk; which was a couple hours ago, and it made me worry, to say the least.
You might ask, what happened that spoiled my mood?
I'll just say it the way it is.
My Uncle's been hospitalized! I know... I know that the first thing that comes to mind after anybody says anything like that, means either the patient's illness is a really serious one, or that he/she may be spending quite a lot of time in the hospital ward. It's not a serious one. But, that doesn't mean I shouldn't worry.
I hate hospitals! I hate going there. I hate the sickening smell. I hate everything about it. I don't think I've talked about my reason for hating them. But, I'm certain I mentioned it once here.
Perhaps, the time has come to share something that happened to me a long time ago. One which I've kept hidden from a number of people. *(Except my parents and siblings knows this, cos' it happened when I was very little).*
So, years ago... When I was four. (Maybe five?). I injured my left arm while I played in class. After closing hours I was taken home with the school bus. They dropped me off with my Mom, and get this... They never mentioned what happened to me hours before!
A couple days later, Mom noticed that I had a terrible fever. So, she thought about going to clean me up in the bathroom before tucking me in bed to rest, and take medication. She soon found out that i couldn't lift the said arm and, she immediately called my Dad's attention to it. They decided to take me to a private hospital where they only injected the arm without a proper inspection. Again, they never examined me, or look for the cause!
I was taken home, and after a while Mom discovered that my arm had stiffened!
***A result of an injection that was bombarded on the poor arm***.
If it wasn't for my Mom's quick thinking and, ingenuity... I wouldn't have been able to use that arm. I was taken to a retired medical practitioner, who did what he could and in six months I was able to make good use of my left arm.
Now, because of what happened Dad removed from that school. They had a fault, which was that they failed to employ someone competent for a job so delicate. I was a kid***, it could've been worse. What if things had gone terribly wrong? Would they take responsibility for their actions, or not? And, the hospital... Why on Earth would they not examine, and find a cause for an ailment before deciding to use an injection? Why didn't they do their job?***
These questions barraged my thoughts, and many times I have tried to break out of it.
That wasn't the first occurrence. There have been more after...! I understand that not all hospitals are the same. But, it seems there just a few dutiful ones around.
I have come to distrust them. And, now my Uncle is unwell. I couldn't visit him. Dad went alone. Although he brought back good news of his growing recovery. Still, I can only pray he gets better for every second he spends there.
And so that's why I don't trust hospitals.
Perhaps, in the latter future I could come to have a change of heart. I'll see about that.
People tell me off, sometimes, but I don't blame them really. They give solid points about certain facts.
***However, I'm curious... would you have done any differently from me?***
***I'm utterly open to your opinion.***
Thank you for reading.
Until we meet again.

Looking forward to an Enthralling summer.
Friday, June 3rd 2022.
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/SYx3UCHZJlo
My month started really slowly. For days I've thought of different things I'd like to venture into. Like a day job, or anything of the sort. However, recent events made me to second guess the availability of some 9-5's. If I'm to make this month productive for me, I'll have to think hard on what it is I want.
Perhaps, I'll be able to figure something out before the end of next week. In some way; before summer starts officially, I'd have gathered enough money to start an online course I've been eyeing.
I wonder if any of my friends here knows anything about Amazon kdp?
I'm talking about this today because my big brother recommended me to someone who is willing to take me through it. I'm glad he did that. He, somehow, aided me in my search for a good paying job.
I checked out the person's website and I was astounded by the detailed explanation given about the course if I'm to begin anytime. Although, there's a pinch. I'll need approximately 20,000# - that is, somewhere around 35$, if I'm correct.
Sad thing is I don't have that amount... Yet! I gave out my last Months earnings in order to solve some pending issues. One problem I have is I am overly generous. (Now, I'm not hyping myself up or, anything). Haha. I am just saying that because of my indecisiveness at moments when it matters most, often times I fail to do what should be done.
Sometimes I'm like: This person needs this money much more than I do, I should probably help him/her out. Get this. When I am in that position, it's not like I don't need the money, but I just weigh it up in some awkward scale in my head and decide such a person needs my help more.
I wonder if it's a fault from my side.
***Sighs***
Anyway, before I digressed I was talking about the Amazon kdp course I was planning on taking. So, 35$ to be saved up for the month of June? I wonder how I'm going to do it.
Oh, like Robert Kiyosaki use to say. (I'll be paraphrasing...).
***"Don't say I can't do or get it. Say, how can I afford it? Because when you are aware of the latter you inadvertently put your brains to work, thereby finding solutions to the underlying problem".***
*Gotten from the book - Rich Dad Poor Dad.*
***How can I afford 35$ in the next week?***
That'll be the question I'll need a quick solution to. Perhaps, if I doubled my effort here on read, and maybe, just maybe, I actively use my noise.cash account will be able to gather up the funds. In any case, this Month of June would be a crucial one for me.
So, in a nutshell it's so going to be an exciting summer ahead for me.
How do you plan on spending your summer?
I'd like to hear a bit of your plans if you have one... Yet!
Writer's Note:
Hi guys!
Today started off really cold, and when I say something like that it'll only mean the weather was something else. (It certainly wasn't a weather for two!). 😔
It was freezing!

I'd like to thank you, my readers for your constant support by helping me up-vote, comment and tip my articles. To my sponsors, you guys are awesome.

The Night we Met.
Thursday, June 2nd 2022.
It was a cold, and dark night. I'd just left the restaurant where I worked after leaving school. There I was alone at the edge of the road waiting for a taxi to take me home. As I remember, I was impatiently glancing at my watch every ten second. (*It's something I do whenever I get anxious about anything*). So, I decided to wait it out a couple minutes longer, but the cars only drove past me as quickly as they came.
At that point, the cold was beginning to numb the exposed part of my legs. I knew if I'd stayed there any longer it could get worse. So, I guessed that it would do me more good than harm if i take the long, dreadful walk home.
I haven't walked past a few meters away from where I was when I heard someone walking beside me. At first, I thought maybe he was just a random person, who also made the same decision I did. That figures. However, the more my steps receded I noticed his was just the same as mine. Now, I couldn't let this stranger make a fun of me because I was getting tired of walking. So, I turned towards him to give him a piece of my mind.
"Hey, stranger!"
"You shouldn't be walking next to me the way you are. What's the big idea?" I said.
"I'm sorry. But, it's ***brass monkeys*** out here tonight." He answered.
"Don't I know it." I deadpanned.
"Ooh... I apologise, *ma* *chéire.* I'm Henri, without the Y." He said.
"Did you just call me *ma chérie*?" I said, seemingly taking offense with his remark.
"Yes. You don't like it?" He said.
"Oh, no. I'm not used to people calling me anything like that. Ever!" I replied.
"But, I only stated the obvious. I had thought girls here loved flattery such as those." He said.
"So, because you're what... French? You somehow deluded yourself to believing such rubbish." I said.
"It seems to me you're trying really hard here to take into consideration something so unnecessary." He shot back.
I gasped. Only to notice the beautiful face behind the covers of his hoodie, and just like that I felt my heart for the first time. If I were to describe it rather extensively I'd say that, at that night it was as if something struck me. My ***heartthrobbed*** like they were going to give out. It was so surreal. I couldn't have imagined to ever feel like that. Especially not on this freezing cold night.
***Sighs***
"Well... I'm sorry, Henri."
"Uhh... You are?" He said.
"Yes. I overreacted. I shouldn't have." I answered.
"Let's start over, shall we?"
"Err... Yeah, sure."
"Hi, Henri *without the Y*. I'm Sophia."
"I'm American. My parents moved here when I was ten, and..." I stopped.
I realised I was overdoing it. He didn't ask where I was from but I just ***inadvertently*** mentioned where I came from without thinking. I tried not to make it as awkward. Still, I was sure Henri realised just how much the conversation ***spiraled***. You could say it was pretty much bred from an ***oversight***. I wasn't sure of my feelings for this utter stranger. It was weird enough that our first meeting wasn't ***pleasingly romantic*** just as I've read in books. I wanted it to get better, so I offered to go for a drink at the nearest pub.
"Well, I'm open to a ***pint*** of drink or two." He said.
His eyes glistened, and I was beginning to get excited. His countenance was warming. It was as if I got drawn to him somehow. Thinking back now, I couldn't have understood it.
The live music played in the small space that divided the counter from a couple of seats. We sat at the far back away from the drunken cheers from a couple of people. Anybody would question our presence there by reason of our appearance, but surprisingly enough, not one of them raised as much as a fuss. I was eighteen, and Henri must've been what..., twenty. I was curious, so I asked him.
"Wait, Henri. You're above eighteen right?"
He looked at me, smiled and nodded. I was relieved. We were left on our own - perhaps they were considerate because of the freezing cold outside. (*Except we weren't to do anything illegal, that is.*)
I was mindful of the amount of drinks I took, but Henri however was beginning to get intoxicated. A far cry from the *two pints of drink* he wanted when I offered. Maybe it was because we'd talked for long periods. A couple of minutes later, a particular song played. It started with a soothing melody that sort of calmed the moods in the room. Then, Henri glanced over towards me and offered to dance.
"Would you like to dance?"
"Uh... I don't know. I haven't danced in a while". I said.
"Oh, come on. It's not going to harm you." He said.
I took his hands and he ushered me to the center of the room bearing my hands on his shoulders. It was like we'd been lovers for the longest time. I liked the feeling. I didn't wanna leave his arms. But then he whispered what sounded like, *"Just give yourself to the music, Sophia. I plan to make this night a memorable one."*
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/HW-ep3fC4Kc
I was glad I was able to mend things with him. Our meeting started rather strangely, with me venting at his remark and stuff. I didn't want to care for his cheap words. However, at this point, I realised he meant it. Like a love made only for movie screens I was undoubtedly and utterly his *chérie*, his dear. And, I was glad he made me feel wanted. After the night was over we exchanged numbers, and promised to meet again when we have the time. I went home that night with a basket full of memories. It was a night that had all the sparks, the fun, and the glamor that it made me yearn to go back to the night we met.
***The End.***

"First, I'd like to thank you, Lola, for bringing light to my dark journey. I was frail, destitute and steeped in the dangers of drugs and alcohol. *Aah, It was just like yesterday, my Love*. When the times were sweet and rosy. An encounter that turned my life around, it was a moment where all things were good."
"You re-shaped the heart of this bitter Man and turned it into something beautiful. I wouldn't forget the prettiest words you said to me on the night of our first meeting. I had disclosed to you how different I was to other Men. My weakness took a hold of me, it gripped me in the neck and wouldn't let go."
"You knew everything about me, but yet you stayed. I felt your love fill the bowels of my empty soul, your kindness were something I have never known. It was a phenomenon I had been alien to my entire life."
"I have never known a Love so overwhelming, that it engulfed the darkness that had come to *bew* with my personality."
"All those years when I hadn't known you I always heard a storm come in, and it forced everything good in my life away leaving me lonely in my despair. It, therefore, always sent me in circles somewhere else. Little did I know you never gave in to the waves, and storms. It made me glad that you always searched for me. In the midst of my turmoil, what you've been, my Love. Was an anchor!"
"You were the light that shone brighter than the summer glow. To me that's all you've been, and more."
"Fate drew me a new life with you. I couldn't resist the thought of wanting to make you my wife. And, I do not regret any second with you, my dear. However, it pains me to realise that what I thought to be real fazed like a mirage in front of me. Perhaps, I could've waited until your arrival so we could talk things out. But, ***fear hath crippled what faith*** you restored in me, Lola."
"You mayn't have heard of a grown Man wail but, I am certain you feel the emotions hanging in these words as well as I can imagine the sorrow that's waxed in your heart. Forgive me, my Love. I wouldn't be able to bear watching the tears roll down your eyes in the anguish of my departure."
"Moments prior to me writing this, I met and asked the delightful one, your lifelong friend, Lauren. What she thought of us getting married. But there was I sat, her countenance changed to what seemed like a disappointed expression. For a moment there I reckoned whether she was displeased with my lack of trust towards her because I only felt it necessary to tell her of my plans without bearing her in mind first. It was understandable. Because we've been through so many things together."
"But, I was wrong! She looked up, and said:
*'Lola is being transferred, Michael. I'm sorry we didn't tell you this sooner, because we saw how much you've changed. I know Lola wouldn't want me telling you this, because she's planned to mention it herself. However, if we'd chosen to remain here with you, the pain of us leaving would be unbearable.*
*In any case, Mike. You should talk to her.'*
Aah! Right then, I knew. Our little fairytale was all so *oneiric*. However, I couldn't blame you, my Love. Even with a news like that I knew you had the best intentions. Still, it broke me down, and now I'm going in *circles somewhere else."*
"What I'd give to continue with you, my dear. My Life was never destined for a fairytale ending. I know that now. That's all it'll ever be, my dear. A fairytale, but one with the most beautiful love stories you'll ever hear."
"Thank you, my dear. For giving me something so beautiful, and although I couldn't *swim in the sea of your tears* whilst your head rest on my shoulders - not in respite; but in a *heartwarmingly gratifying scenic,* we'd bask in each of our own tenderness just like we love doing it best."
"That about ends it all, my Love. Yes. I love you. I mayn't know what future holds for me, but holding you in my heart would give me the strength to move forward. I will always be grateful that when I was all but lost, Love found me in the end."

**Writer's Note:**
Hello, my wonderful readers, and a Wonderful New Month to y'all.
I apologise for being away for a while. But, I'm back now and I hope to serve you all to the best of my abilities.
This "lookalike" of a short story was inspired by a song I've been listening to for quite some time now. The title of the song is ***"Anchor" by Novo Amor.***
He's my favorite artist, and his works has made such an impression in me. Which, therefore, has made me create this.
I hope you liked it.
Tell me what you think in the comment section. :D
Thank you for reading.
Until we meet again.
💐

For two days, I've only posted one Article. Which is really not what I intended. But I've been keeping with reading atleast giive articles per day, commenting where I should, and tipping whichever one I can. There's only so much I can do though.
I hope to get back to full swing afterwards.
I hope y'all are good? :D
Everything.
Sunday, May 29th 2022.
It's been a rough couple of days. Yesterday, I was particularly down with some really hectic stuff. I was able to get a free time around dusk. I saw the Champions League final, and just like I wanted... Madrid won it. Hala, Madrid!
Anyway, so today I read some Articles. Then, I read @joydigitalsolutions most recent one about choices. It was written based on a couple of her old memories. She mentioned specifically how she enjoyed her time in high school, and I must say those were the times i also had the most memorable moments.
I asked for her permission to do this. (She actually hasn't given me the feedback, yet. But, I'm sure she'd be okay with me doing this.)
I'll be taking them one by one. Hopefully, i don't bore you out with a really long post. So, I'm mindful of just how many I get to write on.
Let us begin, then.
No Friends
If I claim to have no friends, or just a few of them. It'll defeat my earlier assertion of "having memorable moments", because it wouldn't be memorable if I didn't have people in them to share them with. Right? Okay.
So, I had friends. Actually, I considered most of the pupils in the class, at the time, as friends. But, a few of them stood out amongst the rest. My seat partner, and the two girls who had their seats in front of me. We gossiped about the littlest gist (not all the time though), we talked about TV shows, played games, e.t.c. Boy! ***Everything was good*** in the year 2014. When we separated after a year together, it was as if my whole teenage life was going to crumble. We all left for different schools, and sadly, things never were the same after that.
Can't fit in
After I left my old school for a new one, it was so difficult to try and make new friends. I became more quiet. Quieter than I was in the previous year. It was different with my old friends.
I sought to fit in countless times. But I just never settled into the whole thing. The boys (my new classmates) only came to me when they needed to get their assignments done, or help doing some random thing. It all started to change when another girl joined a couple months later. She became the light that burned brightly in that endlessly dark tunnel. Her heartiness brought some sort of wind - a fierce one, but in the most enthralling way. It was she who made things different.
Meet your crush
Remember the part where I said I had two girls sit in front of me in my class at my old school? Well, one of them was the one I grew fond of. She was brilliant, and funny. Plus, she had the prettiest eyes. I couldn't tell her I liked her then. Cos I reckoned it would have spoiled the great relationship we had.
Get Bullied
No. I never got bullied. We never had that in my class. We all enjoyed each other's company, and crazy moments. It was a mutual feeling. (I'd like to think it was).
Wake Up Early
No. I always slept in. Which in turn always made me late for schools, then I get whopped by the teachers afterwards. (Although, most of the time I escaped those hellish punishments.) I was pretty much a bad ass doing that. Haha
Maintain good grades
I had a problem with consistency back then (still do), which made me not to perform as highly as I should have. However, which extra lessons some of that got fixed.
In short my grades usually were just above average. 🙈
Mean Teachers
Of course. High school wouldn't have been fun if we didnt have those. Haha.
Especially my Math teacher, rather my class Math teacher. He'd give us tons of work during holidays, and beat the sh¡t outta us when we don't meet his deadline. He was annoying. :D
Heavy Bag
My bag was so heavy. I would put my text books in them all the time. Thankfully, school wasn't far from home. If not it's have been seriuos work. Can't explain how I got tall out of nowhere. (I'm 6' 2". Brilliant, right? I know). :D
*Note: That spells the end to the first part. Would like to continue the rest soon. But haven't decided whether I should, or not. Anyway, until then...*
Thank you guys for reading.

A night out to remember.

It is that time of the night, once again, where I let my fingers do what they do best - to write. (*In this case, type*). This is a post to celebrate children or better still an opportunity to let you in on some tips, cos it still is: *Children's day. Right? :)*
I know I probably should have done this sooner, but like they always say. ***"It's never late than never".***
Here are some of the things to consider doing in order to spice up an end to a wonderful day for your child.
***Disclaimer: These tips are just my personal opinion. It is subjective - as earlier stated, and is only written for entertainment purpose only.***
Let's get started.
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/tvc5imO5pXk
Children have a knack of doing something that brings them a certain amount of pleasure. Sometimes, they tend to want to overdo things, which is understandable. Although, it is the duty of their guide, parent, or an elderly to instruct them in the way they should behave, play, or interact with their surroundings.
So, today being a holiday specially for children all over the world. It is a no-brainer that parents would want to take out their children to fun places like, Amusement parks, or to go for movie marathons in cinemas, e.t.c,. Lest we foget picnics, Disney parties, camps, water parks... The list goes on endlessly.
Sadly, the day would end but not till it's really late at night before your child eventually thinks of *hitting the hay.* But, after having spent a swell day... why don't we also make it a night to remember for them as well.
Go see the fireworks.
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/_b4ppn1Ssgw
I'm sure an holiday like this one would not be complete without an awesome firework out in display. It always is a fun sight to see the sparks light out in the dark night.
What a memorable experience this would be for any child. :D
Stroll in to a fun filled carnival
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/wuHWHPQZtvY
I always wanted to join festivals as a kid, but unfortunately Mom and Dad wouldn't even let me leave their sights. Because they never fancied stuffs like that. But, I did. (*Not that I'm crossed with them or, anything*). Haha
These festivals are sure to be marked by parades and sometimes the availability of special foods on treat, and other entertainment makes it all worth the while.
Drive out to the stars
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/Dl3zfNV8x_8
***Stargazers*** - the name given to anybody who constantly looks at the stars at night.
Imagine you drive out for a short trip with your kid, and the perfect spot caught your eye. You decide to stop your engines, and then you put on the lights inside your car just like the one in the above image.
You both sit there for a while, gazing up into a sea of glitters in it's utter brilliance. In an instant, the stars that spread out in the vast sky called your attention to a streak of light: a falling star, the fascinating brightness made a vivid impression on your child thereby completing it's task. Only then do you realise that indeed your kid's had a night to remember.
***End Note: That was a mix of everything I had for an exciting experience. If only I'd lived through some of them, no?***
Is there any cool nighttime experience you can share?
...just for fun, right? :)
I'd love to hear from you in the comment section.
Thank you for reading.
Until we meet again.

Resentment.

Resentment
*The state of holding something in the mind as a subject of contemplation, or of being inclined to reflect upon it; feeling; impression.*
In recent days, something kept bugging me. I'd try to explain the whole situation below, but as a story. It may seem fictional, but it isn't. You can however try to follow through the story carefully. Because how we handle delicate moment matters in anything we do, perhaps this stirs something in us and causes us to do what's right in whatever way we can.
How it happened.
It all started with a dispute - a verbal argument that ensued because of a small misunderstanding between two people. But, was it though?
So, on a fine morning a little girl was sent home for not being able to balance her fees. She met her uncle, who was confused, and asked her what happened. She explained it. Then, he called her Mom and she went with her to the school.
Take note of this: Before now, the little girl had clamored that her teachers are somewhat incompetent and, they do not teach her as much as they ought to.
Now, here's the thing.
She - the girl, had an external examination coming up, she was to begin in a few days... and get this, *her whole class weren't taught properly, because the school was short staffed.*
*Well, how else does she pass her examinations, that was to begin a few days later, when she clearly hasn't been taught enough?*
Now that's troubling, right?
So when her Mother got to the school she met with her homeroom teacher. Who made it known to the girl's Mom that she had to balance up, or else there'd be no Examination for her.
The girl's Mom was shocked, because her husband had paid the full amount for the external examination fees. But, her little girl would be excluded from sitting for it? *"No way"*, she thought.
She explained why she couldn't meet up with the fees, yet. But the teacher dismissed her plight, and said to her:
*"I have nothing more to discuss with you."*
Now that response was enough to make anybody annoyed. Especially when you say something like that to an elderly. The behavior of the teacher, therefore, caused a ripple effect that provoked the heated row.
It made the girl's Mother angry. She replied and said,
*"Isn't that why your school has refused to grow?!"*
*"You all do not consider the situation of the parents. So, all you do is try to turn your back on anybody's plight. Is that it?!"*
That statement was said because the woman was hurt. She couldn't stand the fact that she was ignored by someone so self-conceited. Perhaps, some women act impulsively in moments as delicate as the ones I mentioned above.
After a while, the matter was taken to the headmistress. *(Another elderly woman)*. Whom, after hearing what happened, snapped, and rubbed salt to the wound making the whole situation even more unpleasant. The squabble caused a lot of commotion which affected the little girl's psyche. She was young, and fragile. Her exams was just a few days away, and in the heat of the moment she collapsed. She was rushed to a nearby clinic and looked after. In a nutshell, she'd miss the exams because of what happened.
The rest of the teachers spoke words of contempt to her Mother, but they didn't realise those words invariably mounted a pressure that caused her child to break down mentally. They hadn't learned. If only they had allowed her daughter sit for the exams, nothing bad would have happened. She removed her child from the school afterwards, holding on to her resentment towards them and not forgiving what had been done to her that day.
***The End.***
Here comes the billion dollar question.
***Who exactly is at fault?***
*Was it the Mother, for trying to explain a situation and, eventually getting silenced just for being considerate?*
*The lady who was ill-mannered, and pompous, for behaving that way in the first instance?*
*Or, perhaps the headmistress for compounding the lot of what transpired which resulted in something almost tragic?*
***Here's what I think.***
The homeroom teacher actually caused the whole thing to escalate. She wasn't well-behaved, and lack the proper etiquettes to handle situations as delicate as that.
If she'd been prudent enough, the matter would've been settled amicably. And all parties would have gone about their daily activities as they should.
Thank you for reading.
Until we meet again.

This or That: My careful Inspection.
Wednesday, May 25th 2022.
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/1k6Kjg15QW8
Yet, again I have been saved by another one of these random questions. I mean, it's pretty much getting out of hand. Me, relying on them for quite some time now. Still the brain needs to cool itself a little, no?
I was reading sir. @Olasquare Article on Choices, and it piqued my interest. Which explains my participation in this one. I am just glad he gave me the go ahead to do mine. https://read.cash/@Olasquare/choices-f295cf5a
Much appreciation, good sir. :)
Now then ladies and gentlemen. Shall we begin?
Museum or, Amusement parks?
Firstly, I'd like to make it known that I have NOT been to either of them. However, if there's one place that piques my interest it'll be the AMUSEMENT PARK.
I mean talk about the fun, and stuff. It'll be grand. Forget that I'm older now. Why? It wasn't even a hundred percent made for just kids. (Right?). Some young adults can be excused to have fun too, no? Hahaha.
Intelligent, or Funny?
I'd choose Intelligence. Being funny also has it's perks, right? Sometimes when I'm around guys who have extreme cognitive capabilities, p.k.a - the bright ones, I get enthused to want to know whatever it is they talk about. They pick your brains, and make you wanna NOT mess up. What I mean is, you know, likes beget likes, right? (Now I'm not saying I'm a complete duffer, or anything), in any case, these particular set of guys just stand out above the rest and it makes you wanna be close to them.
Don't get me wrong funny people are awesome, and I find them downright adorable. But, in the end, a bit of both wouldn't be bad. It'll make a fine mix, won't they? ;)
Freedom, or Hope?
I want to be FREE. You have no idea just how much. I've always hoped and, I still hope that things will get better. But, there's only so much I can do, no? Especially when you hold so much hope for something to get better, or be better, but it gets worse and eventually spirals down a different path, It tends to break something in you. And, I don't want anything to strike a blow to me mentally. I'm already fragile enough as it is.
Success, or Happiness?
Wow! Making me pick one out of these two is completely harsh. Thinking back, I realise I have never been truly, truly happy. I haven't tasted a fine streak of success, yet. But, I think people define success differently. And, what I consider a success might be different from yours. In general, everybody equates success to having a grandiose possession of wealth and riches. (...and, dwelling on that would probably make this post longer than it should be).
But I'll leave you with the thought, and let you define ***YOUR*** success.
Would I be considered naive, and inexperienced if I chose Happiness?
Money, or Free time?
I think I've had enough of free time already. It's Money, Money and still Money. There's a saying around these parts - I'm sure my fellow countrymen would relate. '***Owo lo fi n do something'***
It means - *Money is what does all and everything.*
I hope my translation is accurate enough. Haha... But, that's basically the gist of it.
In my lifetime, even now, I'd gather a fine sequence of galactic fortune for me and my loved ones. That's just one out of my many dreams for the future. Hahaha.
Handmade gifts, or expensive gifts?
Both would be welcomed. Haha. (That's all there is to it. I'd rather not talk of these kind of things). Forgive me. :)
Hunting, or saving?
Saving, of course. I've not hunted before. So, I cannot like something I've never done before. That'll be weird.
Trip, or Staycation?
I am not a fan of road trips of any kind. I've spoken about that here before. How I get nauseous anytime I go on trips. Yeah... So, it's definitely staycation for me. Except, NOT IN NIGERIA! Lol
That does it for today on my post.***This, or That: My careful Inspection.***
To my lovely readers, Sponsors, and awesome commenters. You guys are the best. Much appreciation.
Thank you for reading, as always.
Until we meet again.

What's on your mind? A Prompt!
Tuesday, May 24th 2022
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/R1JvvBHh3v8
Greetings, good friends here on read.cash. How did your day go? I understand the fact that most of us here live in different places in different parts of the world under different time zones, and the likes. But, permit me to ask, still... How your day went.
Today, I came to the conclusion that I have been struck with what all writers call the "*writer's block*". Of course, we're all familiar with the term - so, I would hold off trying to define the aforementioned.
I didn't want to write anything today. Because, I thought doing this, i.e, writing something that would not be of interest to the online populace here on this space, *(Saw what I did there? Haha)* equates to a total waste of time. I actually battled the idea of choosing to write for your consumption today or, not. I realised if I am to do this, in order to become a great writer, it wouldn't be just for the writing sake. It will mean that I have something inside me that I want the rest of the world to see through my creativity.
Speaking of being a creative, the topic I used above is nothing short of ***non-creative.*** I mean I had some really ridiculous options before coming up with that one. I'll name them below, just for fun.
Random ramblings: Say what comes to mind.
Topics you heard of, but can't talk about.
Where's my love?
Now, I'll explain why those weird topics came to mind, and how they'd turn out if I wrote on them.
First off.
Random ramblings: Say what comes to mind
This one, in particular, is the worst thing I could ever come up with for a topic in the history of worst topics. *(I just said that with a straight face!)* :|
What if I'd spoken on that?
What Impression would that have made on my readers?
I wouldn't know, right? Unless they actually read them. Haha.
I think, at times, most writers come up with the strangest of ideas for a book, short manuscript, a literary work or anything that has to do with putting pen on paper. Eventually, we discard of them thinking they aren't worth anything. That doesn't mean we'd give up though. Cos' who will read our works when we do?
Have you experienced these moments too?
**Topics you heard of, but can't talk about.**
Once I heard of this really bizzare thing about an app that locates spirits, and tell you where they are. I remember the part where some of the guys said it was specifically for ghost hunting. Basically, if you're intrigued by ghosts and want to know if they actually exist it'd would do its job of finding you one. Spooky stuff right there, init?.
Now that's a topic worth discussing about right? No. I'm not a fan of ghost and I most definitely don't wanna know where the next one's located, much less listen to it speak. I sort of have a phobia for those kind of stuff. And, no... It's not made up. Like someone used to tell me *"Go make your own research".* Maybe you should do yours. Sorry, I don't wanna sound harsh, or anything. :D
*P.S I am not in any way disregarding those who spend their time doing what they love. It's just not my kind of stuff. I actually respect the creators of such an app, and the spirit world voyagers.*
Where's my love?
This one actually makes a lot more sense for a story title. I wanted to do it. But, I felt like I'd been drained for a couple days now. So, I kinda need a refill. I should probably take more insights from my favorite authors, and perhaps, see a video or two about a forbidden love. Oops! I gave out the general idea for the story. Well, no harm done there. Haha!
I'll do this when I'm ready to. But, I must ask... Shall I? Or, shall I not? *Which is it I's* or *nay.* How do they do it again? I must be loosing my touch. :D
So that about does it for ***what's on your mind? A prompt!***
Perhaps I should make it a writing session like my mentor @meitanteikudo does his. :)
**Happy Month-versary**
I am, however, celebrating my third Month on read.cash. I wanna make it a habit, or some sort of tradition, in order to give myself something to always look forward to.
I appreciate every. single. one., of you. Thank y'all so much for sticking with me.
To my sponsors, commentators, and up-voters. Y'all are awesome.
Until we read again.

No Home: A tragic tale III
Date: Monday, May 23rd 2022.
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/x0lxQZwyfy0
The tragic end of Tristan's Father and Mother on a night that was supposed to be a time of celebration - on one hand, for Sir. Timothy because he sealed a contract worth a lot of money which therefore, would be invested in a foundation that cared for the needy. While his wife welcomes the birth of their baby to the world. The news of their death spread like wildfire. Which made their well-wishers question the circumstances surrounding their unexplainable demise. But, no one would ever know, would they?
The Gordon's had an enemy, one that desired their fortune and fame more than anything. A small group of brutal ruffians - like you would call them, but no doubt highly regarded as business men and ambitious women of different backgrounds. Conniving slowly, but surely, a plan that progressed tremendously. They had conspired with a mercenary to lay to waste the life of Sir. Timothy, in his hotel room the night he got the call of his wife's death, and the sudden disappearance of his child. And paid off Eleanor's family nurse to highjack and take control of her procession to the hospital whilst getting rid of her along with the baby.
It worked as they thought it would, alright. Although not according to script, but it certainly did. Eleanor died with a deadly poison in her system after her child's birth. Sir. Timothy took his life when he found out his Family had been taken from him. There can be no greater pain than knowing the life of two upstanding Individuals - committed to creating a better world for little children, were taken away due to an unsightly misconception from a corrupt organization.
However, their miscalculation caused them to neglect the fragility of the human heart. The nurse who couldn't bring herself to kill the child. She took him away, and managed to keep him hidden near a narrow section a couple of miles away from the city. A kind gesture - if you will, but from an unfriendly face who only developed a fraction of an emotion in the unlikeliest of manner.
Aftermath.
Tristan lived out seventeen years in an old neighborhood - an environment that only masqueraded the ills and treachery that lives within by saving face in order to get whatever they wanted from charitable organizations.
He stayed in the home of an Elder - a man in charge of the day to day activities of the small community. He saved little Tristan's life those years ago but, not out of the goodness of his heart. The child lived his years in gruesome toil - a payback for a past he had no control over.
On the eve of Tristan's eighteenth birthday after much deliberation on his future, he decided to be away from the place he'd come to call home despite the faults. He was allowed to roam free to find, and live out his dream. Like his father, he was ambitious, smart and driven. His features of being a six feet tall, curly haired and good-looking young man was well enough. Plus, he had his mother's eyes. It seemed like all would go smoothly with him after getting a night job at a factory he started in for a few months.
However, on the night of the fourth Month, he stumbled upon a gang fight that resulted in the death of a man and a woman. In his quest to solve what transpired, Tristan got engaged with some police officers who also held the same notion of a crime that was, ***in the offing***, going to lead to a series of the same event. One of them being a private investigator, hired by his late Father to head the company's security detail many years ago.
After revealing who he was, Tristan was driven more than ever to put his Parent's killers behind bars. However, he didn't realise the evil that ran deep in the said organization.
*"Justice will be served on them, Ma."*, he said.
The police man narrated the good his Father did for him, and the country at large.
"*They sure lived a life, son.*", He said.
*"I always knew there was someone... some people responsible for their death. Because it was sudden. They were so full of life, and purpose."*, he added.
"*If only I'd known them*.", said Tristan.
The thought of which brought him much sadness and anger. An anger for the culprits who conspired to lay to waste his Parent's life. He needed to avenge them. He was certain they wouldn't let him be if they found out about him. If he was to succeed with his plans, he'd have to be quick and precise, leaving nothing to chance, and setting the records straight. He had help. But, even that wasn't going to be enough. He wanted something against his enemies. Some sort of evidence. A good one. Something to disrupt their forces and scatter them like they did his family.
A couple of days later, on one of Tristan's many walks after leaving the factory. He was ambushed by the roadside and taken to an abandoned ground - a lakeside. His mouth gagged, and body wrapped tightly across with hard rope. He had been found out, and the fang that once sought to end him but couldn't had returned with twice the venom. Only this time there wasn't a help around to save him.
In that moment, he realised his fault in trusting a Man (*the police officer*) who was let to live despite all that happened. He had believed the lies, and false sympathy of someone who betrayed the trust of his Father. He was sold out for reasons he could never know of even if he wanted to. And so the world failed him, again. First, when it killed his Father and Mother and, now giving him up to his enemies.
His eyes gleamed after he lived through an old memory of himself back in his old neighborhood. He remembered the joy he felt when he was allowed to leave home. He hadn't felt anything like that all his life. Perhaps, it all would've been better if he'd spent a little time with his parents. That was the wish he so desperately wanted. He was young, yet life treated him so harshly without cause.
Minutes passed, after he'd been dragged away a few feet towards the lake, a gun was held above his head. The sound of which the revolver's shot stunned, and pierced his head before falling into the shallow waters. He was killed. An end to yet another generation of a Gordon in the hands of wicked, and evil Men. A life lived in penury, and toil ended with a death far beyond the natural order of things.
Tristan died without the warmth of a home to his head in life - as an orphan, and in death - as his body floated with the wave holding up his already cold body.

Sir Timothy had just finished wrapping up another business deal with his associates. He was all smiles after the long meeting, and reckoned he should call home after being away for a week. He hadn't foreseen the disastrous occurrence that would overwhelm him moments later. But, could he really have guessed it? He was a man, after all.
Soon after he arrived at a five star hotel not far from his meeting place the phone rang, and with what sounded like an incoherent ***babbling*** on the other end of the phone from whatever situation ***ensued***, came a sudden change in Sir Timothy's countenance. He could hear someone trying to revive a body in the background.
*"We have to bring her back."*
*"Oh my God! I can't believe it we've lost her.*"
He wasn't sure of what he was listening to. *"There must've been some sort of mix up.",* He thought.
He checked to confirm the number that called. It was his wife's privately owned number. In his disbelief, he called out to her name.
"*Eleanor?*."
But, an unrecognizable voice answered on the other end. At this point, he'd began to pace anxiously. The uncertainty that hung in his mind were enough to drive him insane.
"*Sir. Timothy*?", said the voice.
"*Are you there*?."
*"I'm here."*
*"Who is this?*", he asked.
"*I'm doctor Banks. Your wife was brought here a couple hours ago* *in labour...*", the voice explained.
*"I can't say I understand the situation myself, sir. It looks like she delivered the child. However, there's been a mix up."*, voice stopped.
"*Wha... What is it?*"
"*Pl... Please, you have to tell me.*", said Sir Timothy.
"*Well, sir... We lost your Wife. She was brought here without my knowledge. You must've been told that my clinic isn't fit for the purpose of emergencies such as hers..."*, the voice continued.
*"...anyway, from what I gathered she was poisoned with a deadly substance moments after her child's birth, and currently we know nothing about the whereabouts of the baby"*, the voice said.
"*I am truly sorry, sir.*"
The phone dropped on the other end. The silence that followed could be, say..., excused. Sir Timothy felt a sadness that was unimaginable. His eyes sunken in despair, like he was ***barraged*** with a bitterness than he could handle. He had lost his wife, and he wasn't hopeful for the well-being of his lost child, either. Nothing felt normal anymore. His life has taken a drastic turn... It was ***unprecedented***. ***Unforeseen***. The news hit him hard with a sharpness that pierced deep into the deepest ***recesses*** of his soul. He'd been done a great Injustice. He gave himself to humanity and, Life generally. But, it rewarded him with a ***grim*** fate without prior notice.
Sir. Timothy left his fancy hotel room to trudge into the ***somber***, and dark night. He was weary, emotionally. His life crumbled before him. His family was his everything, and they were rendered onto nothingness.
Tristan Gordon! His wife had agreed on the name he chose if she'd birthed a boy, and Daisy Gordon, if it were a girl.
The memory of an event that made Him sob uncontrollably. An hour passed, then he realised he had ***ventured*** far into the night. To his right, was a lake as black as the night. There were no lights in the area he had walked into. No stranger in sight. It all felt right at that moment, so it seemed. An opportunity had presented itself to him. And he wasn't about to let it slip.
He walked to the edge, and whispered a word that ended with the mention of a name.
"I'm coming, 'Leanor. To you, and our child."
The wind blew mildly on the large stream, a tiny ripple spread across it's surface... leaving only a bubbling effect captured in the eve of a dark, and tragic event that occured. After taking a heavy sigh, he disappeared under water.

Tristan was a boy with many failings, his predisposition made people detest all and everything about him. It was hard to live in a world that sought bitterly to be rid of him. He was a new born when he lost both his parents to the *cold hands* of death. Like a beast bent on removing any flicker of light that shone in his downtrodden soul, nothing remained. It shattered him. The circumstances that surrounded the demise of his family caused him to venture into a perilous path.
"*Why do I keep on living when I'm hated this way*?", he thought. Life was unfair. He knew that. But, he couldn't end it. He made a promise to live, and prosper. Ever since that moment, he'd desired to *set his Thames on fire.* To dedicate his heart, and soul to achieving his greatness. To live free of the hate, and soar from the bitter prejudice set against him.
*But, where did it go wrong for Tristan?*
Let's go back a couple decades before. To a time where everything was great for the *Gordon's.*
Sir. Timothy Gordon lived a life of positivity, goodwill and charity. A businessman worthy of all the acclamations he got. His foundation cared for children of the less privileged. It was safe to say that he was philanthropic. His associates applauded his *dexterity*, a capable man and an upstanding individual.
His remarkable achievements in the national, and International level brought him much recognition. Soon the time came, *"for the king to have an heir."* He would often joke to his wife, Eleanor. They both agreed that it was *far past the desired time* and sought to bring to fruition what they had planned. His intention, to raise a child to understand the ways of his kingdom. Something befitting a *'family of royals*' as it was ***purported*** by locals. Little did they know it spelled the beginning of the end for their great and promising future.
A year passed, and the expected time of labour drew nigh for Eleanor. She was taken to the hospital where she delivered safely. She held the little boy in her arms, and showered him with kisses that welled from her bubbling affection. She was tired, and weak. After awhile, her nurse went in to *bid* her to sleep, but she wouldn't want to leave her boy.
Perhaps, she had sensed a danger no one else anticipated. However, she knew nothing could be done. Her *misty eyes* gave away the hint of a woman betrayed. In that moment, she thought of the life that could've been with her family. Exactly a day before, she was engrossed with an ongoing project that would help thousands of the needy in the country. But, now it all seemed like everything was merely a *pipe dream.*
Her nurse walked towards her drip to inject what looked like a yellow substance. Eleanor's eyes followed the blurred figure to a stop, and just a fingers touch away with her heart pounding non-stop.
*"I'm sorry. I wouldn't be here with you anymore. I'm so sorry. I love you." ,* Eleanor said softly.
Her heart ached for her child. There was no greater sorrow than what she felt -alone, and left to die in a makeshift hospital. Her pulse grew weaker. Her heart beat reduced to a *palpitation* that only indicated the beginning of the end. She breathed her last breath, and POOF! Eleanor was gone. Little Tristan was abandoned beside an old brook, on a Marshy ground late in the dark hours of the night... Left to live a fate that would set off an unfortunate sequence of events thereafter.

Random things to know about me: Take a sneak peek.

I felt drained today. I don't know why I felt this way. Perhaps, I've been racking my brains out a little too much lately. Forgive me. I am rather spaced out at the moment. I hope to feel differently by tomorrow, at the least.
So, I happen to reread Sir @Olasquare 's post today; Random Questions about Me-so I decided to jump in on it. (Do i have your blessing Sir Ola?). Please, permit me to do this. :) https://read.cash/@Olasquare/random-questions-about-me-eb67be6e
Okay, let's get underway.
1. What do I really want from Life?
Life has been a mix of everything for me, really. It's been rosy, torrid, awkward, heart wrenching, e.t.c., And I finally got to the point where I wanted anything other than the vicious circle I so dreaded.
2. What would I do if my biggest fears came true?
I don't know why I would do, actually. I'm this over sensitive person. I may be down and out for a while, but surely I would get back up. It'll be hard. But, if I believe I'll eventually find my way. That's the promise that lives within me.
3. What would I do with my remaining days if I only had a year to live?
I would live it out with my loved ones, writing a blockbuster tale of two lovers in a difficult world. It might be a popular narrative, but I'd make it unique. That's how I like my stories. It'll be different, like I am. Hahaha (Maybe, maybe not). But, I'll certainly publish a book or two. :D
4. Have I done something recently that I could be proud of?
Yes, and No.
Yes, being that the most latest series, "My very great Love Story I - IV" was actually well received. Boy. The joy that brought me. I was proud.
No, because I sometimes limit myself. I know I am capable of doing so much more, and maybe sometimes I regret the limit of my own imagination. (Something that's quite common amongst the greatest minds to ever walk the Earth...). Which is why I wanna be more and that pressure gets to me more than I can ever imagine. On that aspect, I'm not proud.
5. What would I truly regret not doing if I died tonight?
That'll be not living life to the fullest. (I know when this is said a lot of people often times think it means partying, drinking and the whatnots). Lol. No, that's not what I mean. (Don't get me wrong I'm not ridiculing their belief or anything). What I meant initially was I took things lightly when I shouldn't. It cost me somethings, but like I mentioned in question 2. I still believe things will turn out good.
6. Why am I afraid of being true to myself when others are around?
I am a very shy individual. I know this. Yet, I can't seem to overcome it. So, I just observe whatever happens around me, and learn what is and what isn't from there. And if I'm going to be famous someday I should probably learn to be more vocal.
7. What aspect of my personality still needs Improvement?
I already mentioned this above. My confidence still needs some work. Hahaha
8. What question do I want to know the answer to if it'll help humanity?
"*Why is there so much strife?*". I'll gladly give anything to be able to answer that. :(
9. What advice has someone in my family given that I have taken just in time?
Learn to give your all. Commitment, and consistency is key. It'll take you far in life. Trust God.
10. Are you a servant of money or does money serve me?
A servant of money? Err... I don't know. I haven't spent that much money since I came to Earth. Lol. (Don't quote me. Just kidding!). :D
Maybe, I was a servant. But, we all once were at some point. Right? Right.
That about does it for tonight.
Let me know of yours in the comment section. Trust me it wouldn't harm if you try it out. :D
Thank you for reading.
Until we meet again.

The time came for our short outing down Central Park. To put it rather candidly, I wasn't as excited as I should because of what happened last time. However, I had the hope that something that started lovingly couldn't just end in a disaster. So, I dressed in a white button down shirt, and put on a blue jeans. I had to give off the sense of some formality, just in case.
I left home around 6:20 p.m. Then, we met at O'Connors, like we were supposed to - not that we'd agreed to meet there but, considering the road leads to the Park... it was a giving.
We both walked down the street with orange lights placed on end in sequence to the huge waterfall. The park was ***festooned*** with roses that lit up in rainbow colors. Sarah looked as pretty as ever on her yellow dress which sort of complimented her blush skin tone. It was beyond doubt that I was ***enamored*** by her charm,of which I greatly contemplated ***snogging***. But, I shrugged off the thought of making out with her, as quickly as it came.
The atmosphere was romantic. Anybody could tell. Hell, they were all in pairs. Like, it was an all arranged ***mixer***. The realisation of that made me feel special in a way, and I was. Sarah was good for me. I had convinced myself, so I wasn't gonna let the chance slip. As we danced to the soothing music that played in the background. I whispered into her ears:
"Why did you bring me here, Sarah?".
But, then I could feel her heart beat fast as she placed her head on my shoulders, with her arms over the back of my neck. After a moment, she said:
"I went to you at O'Connors because I had a feeling you needed to talk. Since the first moment we met, you made an impression in me", she stopped.
"So, I was always curious.", she continued.
"I never realised that, Sarah", I said.
Then, it came to me. Sarah never always spoke with many words, but on that night she did. My hope wasn't misplaced, after all. I was right to think we both felt something. Although that little conversation didn't as much as give any hint of a romance that would be... Still I kept hoping. Like our first meet-cute, her voice was ever gentle. And, boy... Her warmth. It felt so ***surreal***. Hell, I could hold her in my arms forever.
The wonderful night passed with a bang. It was a great two hours of love, kisses and hugs. *(...and, No. Nothing happened between Sarah and I. At least, not yet*!). It was getting cold. I could tell she was freezing. So, I had to think of something fast.
"What's the best place to go to after a romantic night out besides eating dinner at a fancy restaurant", I thought. *(Well, it wasn't that fancy, and yeah I could afford it. It was also a splendid idea to stay warm. So, you see...).*
After eating, she went over to my table as if she'd been waiting for this moment the entire night. When our eyes met I thought I felt butterflies inside me. I didn't understand how anybody could feel that way. Yet, it was the most awesome feeling. It was strange that someone could stir up such strong emotions in a person. She leaned forward, and instinctively I did the same tilting my head to the side a little. Her ocean eyes were still stayed on mine, like I was going to drown in them. To drown in her great Love and endless passion. Then, her lips fell on mine. A sweet pleasantness was all and everything my head could've ***fathomed.*** Her tongue twirled passionately, almost swallowing mine like a domineering wave crashing onto a beach. Wet, and humid. It was a sensation I wanted to last forever.
I could still smell her sweet fragrance. Could feel her intense affection. Nothing felt normal with her. I'd spent another fantastic moment in a world of her creation. Like a goddess she orchestrated a meeting that I came to believe was preordained. I was floored, and I loved her.
"I love you, Sarah Walters", I said.
"Yes. I do too, JD".
That was when it came to me. Like a bulb was lit atop my head. In an instant, I could see. That everything that happened up to this point was indeed orchestrated by her. She had engraven my name in her heart - a name I so wittingly gave on a night that was filled with enthralling emotions. ***Just Damon***, it was carved deep in the farthest recesses of her beautiful heart. She loved me. I could shout it to the world. And, if I could I'd give her the moon. That was the greatest Love Story of my life. A fantasy that now is my reality. A fine balance between what is, and what will be.
***The End.***

The kids my age didn't exactly do things the way they should as I always cared less about whatever happened in class. At some point, everybody thought I was the weirdest guy to ever set foot on Marshy Mellows. Talk about weird - It seemed like I was the only one who found the school's name unusual. But, then again... Maybe, I'm just being overly insensitive.
At long last, the school term drew to it's end. The other students weren't as elated as I was. They were all on about missing themselves or something of that sort. I didn't wanna be a part of their misplaced idea of a get together. Because, it didn't matter who I was to be seen with at that point. I loved my space - It's no news that I loved being alone.
I walked down the long hallway trying my best to be as invisible as possible. The continued chattering bundled with the noise of whatever was said from the school's sound system was immense bother, which made me wear my headphones. However, in the midst of all the ***racket*** something rather significant caught my attention. A lost purple note pad. It had a distinguished pattern from the ones sold in the School's bookstore - like it was made specially for journalling. On it was an inscription that wrote ***JD.*** It had been stepped over, and I wondered why no one else seemed to care. Well, not that I was surprised or anything. The only thing that gets the attention of the ***Mellows***' were hot trending news about celebrity scandals, s3x, fashion and basketball. (Not that I blamed them, really, they were still teenagers).
I was out on the soccer field when I felt a gentle nudge behind me. It was Sarah. For a second there I thought I felt my heart leap for joy. Then again, I couldn't help but wonder why we kept meeting like we did.
"Hey, you...", She said.
"Hi."
"Do you mind...?", She said pointing to the empty seat next to me.
"Of course not", I answered.
And, there we sat wondering what next words to choose from. Whether to let one speak of his unending fantasies of a world that should've been, or leave the other to question the thoughts of what she deems a fascinating subject. "Such unbearable silence", I thought.
"Are you, by any chance, looking for...".
"Would you go with me to the Central Park tonight, Damon", she said abruptly.
"Oh. Uhm... Yeah", I replied.
"But, on one condition."
"What is it?", She said.
"Tell me. Why did you stop by yesterday at O'Connors delight?", I asked.
"At where, now?", she said confused.
"Uh... Uhm... It was opposite O'Connors - you know, at the tea shop?".
"Right. I remember now", she said.
"I missed the school bus. So, I decided to walk home. That's when i saw you", she continued.
I wasn't satisfied with her answer. But, I never could do anything about it. I didn't like being questioned, so I reckoned she must've felt the same way. Although, I had agreed to go with her to the most beautiful park in town. Something bothered me though, as I wasn't sure if I made the right choice. Perhaps, I had been the one making things up in my head about her. Plus, I wasn't able to ask if she owned the lost notepad I found back in school. Which made me think 1. She wasn't exactly a ***stickler*** to not loosing valuable property and, 2. She behaves friendly because she has no other intention of being anything else. 3. Which therefore explains the laughing-with-the-boyfriend phone call. In any case, I wasn't about to have my heart breaking on the night of my first rare outing.
.***..to be continued.***

All my life I always wanted something more. To feel something extraordinary. I never imagined that the world I had fantasized about was just outside my window. It was something so new. So genuine. Nothing felt more comfortable than feeling that way. Sarah Walters was some girl. My emotions were all over the place as I ***scribbled*** down what I was feeling on my journal that morning. I looked forward to seeing her again. I felt a spark the last time our paths crossed, and boy has the flames been fanned.
It rang 8:30 a.m. It was a Monday. Somehow, I felt like I had been away in some imaginary world. Somewhere far away. Like I'd been on an adventure in a distant island with the whole world at my feet. It was weird. I knew that, but I liked it.
After school hours I needed time off from the heavy activities being in high school brings. I walked many steps to the other side of the road, and stopped a stone's throw from my place. A few moments later I grew tired of the long walk, and decided to rest.
"*Perhaps, I should go relax in the shade*", I thought.
I sat with my journal on one hand, and a pen on the other. I was begining to think of what words to start my daily inputs with. (I had the habit of always writing whenever I found myself with nature, or doing something other than getting mixed up in the complexities of the busy world). The atmosphere was serene, like I had been one with the air that caressed my cheek whenever I closed my eyes. The leaves on the trees seemed to give a response to the fine breeze that whistled gently in the background. Nothing else mattered at that point, except the image of a girl that somehow started growing on me.
After a while, I decided to let myself get ***immersed*** in my own thoughts.
"*Would she be friends with me even if I tried*?", I mumbled.
*"She seemed nice. I have never known anybody to be so graceful".*
*"I must meet her again", I* said.
"*Meet who again?"*, a voice said.
There she was gazing at me with blue eyes as beautiful as the ocean. Her stare was enough to drown my essence. How could I have been entangled in such a web? I have become her captive, but I wouldn't want her to realise that. Would I?
*"Err... Uhm... I was talkin' 'bout Mom"*.
"*She left for the store, and I wasn't able to tell her to get me something*", I explained.
"*Oh*!", She exclaimed.
"*Sorry. But, you were on as if you desperately needed to meet someone*".
"*And, may I ask why you're all alone here?"*, She said.
Although, I didn't foresee this moment. Everything was happening so fast. So, I had to choose my next words carefully. One wrong move, and I'll kiss my chance at getting closer to her goodbye.
*"I always do this. I always come here to connect with my inner self*", I said.
"*Why do you always come here*?".
"*There are lots of places you could've chosen to be at, but WHY. HERE*?", she said.
I was surprised she even bothered to want to know anything about me. Because I was always a loner. Staying alone was a normalcy for me. I constantly make effort to not get involved with whatever happens in the outside world. Perhaps, she senses something different in me and she prolly wants to know me more.
"*You see that little kid holding his Momma's hands while taking a walk down Central Park. And, over there. That old timer as he enjoys a cup of tea with his long-time friend, laughing at whatever amusement that caught their eye...?*", I stopped.
"*These small moments makes my world go round, no matter how slow it revolves. I relish them and, bask in it's serenity*", I continued.
For a moment there, I thought she couldn't care less about what I'd just said. In truth, nobody did. Except, for Dad of course. I was always the odd kid who *"****spends his time wasting away in some fantasy world, denying whatever reality he's faced with". (***At least, that was what I think people say about me anytime they see me alone).
She looked at me once again, and smiled.
"*You're weird",* she stopped.
"*In the most adorable way*".
I couldn't believe my ears. She thought I was adorable. "That has never happened before", I thought. Maybe this is a good sign. Maybe I have made an impression on her, and our relationship would ***lift off*** from here on out. I wouldn't know, however. Not until she made a suggestion.
"*How about you bring me here with you*", she said.
"*Whenever you're available. That is...".*
"*Uh... Uhm... Sure. Will do*.", I answered.
"*Great! Although, I have to go now."*
"*Unlike you, I've got chores to help father with*", she mentioned.
"*Ooh! Right."*, I said.
*"'kay. It was nice talking to you, Just Damon*."
"*This isn't goodbye. We're still neighbors after all*", she joked.
She had a sense of humor that made me want to like her more. But, is that even possible? I mean, I've gotten so ***smitten*** with her that it's become so difficult to contain my feelings. I watched as she disappeared into the corner that led to our neighborhood. The road that leads home wasn't a straight one, which explained my constant weariness anytime I take long walks to any place. A part of me even wondered whether Sarah felt that way too. Which was why she stopped to relax when she saw me. Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't know until I ask.

My very great Love Story I
Monday, May 16th 2022.
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/ka7REB1AJl4
It all started after our very first meet-cute, a couple weeks before Dad's grand opening of his Epic yard sale. He was all enthusiastic about the desire to sell off utensils, clothes, and tools he'd kept in all of his youthful years. Which made me think 1. Perhaps, he was just overreacting that he'd get to meet new faces since we only arrived here like..., say, two days prior. 2. He must've made unnecessary list whenever he decided to get somethings in the mall or wherever, 3. and thus the increasing number of garbage we have somehow managed to drag out the basement.
Saturdays were always dreadful, I'd stay at home all day doing next to nothing. Meanwhile, Dad was always off finding and meeting people in their homes without notice. Somehow, I wonder how he hasn't been thrown off any of property yet!.
It was just barely some minutes past 3 p.m. There I was, cursing my luck and wasting my time with selling junks that was not just pleasing to the eye, but the fact that I stood for hours trynna convince some old timers made me feel even worse for myself.
"*Dad, I'm tired! I need to lay down*.", I said making it seem like I couldn't catch my breath.
"*No, son. We must continue. You must hold on*.", He answered.
*"You're going to be a man someday. You know that, right?"*
"*Arrgh! Enough of the Man talk. I can't take it anymore!*", I cried.
"*Looks like someone needs a break*", Mom said. She had ordered fries for a quick lunch like she always does. But, I just stood there trying to figure out how they can be so aloof to my current situation. *"Some parent you guys are",* I thought.
After a while, we finished selling every single one. How that happened. Well, tell that to Dad's persistent influential but not-crooked personality. He had a knack with people. Something I clearly lacked at the time. (Well, even now). There was something about him that made people want to do his bidding. Especially, when he decides to ***ride tall in his saddle,*** he gets through to them like it's nothing. Sometimes I wished I had that kind of talent.
I was about to leave for my room as I couldn't stand standing out any more. At least, not until Dad realises somethings amiss, and we failed to do the needful. And, just as I predicted... Dad called!
"*My goodness! Can't I just get one break*?", I pleaded.
"*You will, after you return those to our neighbors*", He answered.
I hurriedly gathered whatever ***darned*** tools remained, and trudged a couple of feet to the **Walters'.** On arriving, just as I was about knocking the door the front door. Something totally unexpected caught my attention, a person - the prettiest girl in the world as I liked to call her, was laughing over a call she'd been on. She was sat at a distance in a small vineyard that produced one of the best wines in town. Her father, a ***Vintner***, manufactures the wine Dad liked so much. Little wonder why he's so friendly with him.
"*Can I help you?*", she said. Her voice so gentle, and calm. Dressed in a green tank top, with a sort of blue shorts that looked like it was deliberately torn to give a hint of what I call ***crazy jeans.***
*"Uh... Uhm..., My Dad asked me to bring this here"*, I answered.
"*Oh! Right. I'll go get him*", She replied.
"*Wait...!*", I stopped. I wasn't sure what I wanted to say because I realised I had been floored by her warmth. She waited for me to speak. I didn't. Then, she walked over to me. Smiled and said:
"*Where are my manners? Apologies. I'm Sarah. Sarah Walters. You*?"
"*Err... I uh... I'm Damon. Just Damon*", I answered.
She chuckled.
"*Alright, then. I'll tell Pops* ***Just Damon*** *has come to drop something for him*", she said.
I was stuck. It was until she wasn't within sight that I came to my senses.
*"Ugh! C'mon really...? Just Damon?"*, I mumbled.
It was at that moment I knew I messed up big time. Anyway, considering the fact that i still had a chance to make a move on her I somehow felt ***giddy***. She was my neighbor. Although I wondered whom she was talking to on the other end of the phone a couple minutes ago... I decided to dismiss any illogical thought. But, I was not to be concerned.
My life had began to feel like it'll have a little bit of spark in it. And, she was a promising spark. One that I wasn't certain if 1. It would blow up in my face. 2. Or, if I actually had a chance to experience something different. Something other than the norm I called ***a life so unbelievably bleak*****.**
***...to be continued.***

In all of life's journey many of us sometimes let ourselves get awash with the worries, and weariness that it brings. Sometimes, we even get carried away and then, we fail to see what's truly Important.
The Almighty has given us a life. A lot of us say the word "YOLO", which means "***you only live once***". But, they've rather watered down it's original meaning thus making it seem like some sort of cliché.
The Buddhists believe **happiness and sorrow are our own responsibility – and completely within our control**. I translate that to mean "we can only choose what happens to us, and how we choose to live it speaks more about how deeply we interact with our inner mind".
The Buddhists say ***"everything comes from the mind***," and If we train our mind properly, happiness will be the result.
I am most Thankful for the gift of life, and the courage that has been blessed me by my Father to live through every circumstance. I am thankful for being blessed with a heart that's compassionate, and kind towards my fellow Man.
I am thankful for my parents, and their will to carry on despite the stormy fazes off life. I am thankful for their counsel, and advise even when I sometimes wanna do things my way. :D
I thankful for sound health not just for me, but to every single one of my friends and family.
I am thankful for my siblings. That soonest they'll get to witness something utterly amazing in a future of no distance.
I am thankful for the people around me. My friends, colleagues, and neighbours. I am thankful for read.cash and the people that work to improve the platform daily. I am thankful for the Bloggers/Writers/Creators that constantly work the hours to provide awesome contents on this space.
I am thankful for my Sponsors. Commenters. And up-voters.
I am thankful for yesterday, even when my team - Chelsea, lost the FA cup final. Of which I am still sad about. :(
Still, I am thankful.
I am thankful for the lovely memories I have made, and for the ones that are still to come.
I am thankful for the opportunities that would present itself in the future, and I am thankful for the hope of a better world.
That is just about it all I guess. Perhaps, I failed to mention a few but, I'm sure you all got the gist. :D
And I am, as well, thankful for this blessed Sunday.
***What are you most Thankful for dearest readers?***
Always be Kind.

Nightmares In the Dark.

Abandoned in the depths of an old eerie tomb - a strange noise could be heard not far from where I camped with a few of my friends in the deep woods. The sky itself was spread out like a dark blanket, without a flicker of light. One could as much as feel the growing tension in the air. The cawing birds in the night sky were enough to send shivers down my spine. We only came for a night out because we felt like it. But, that wouldn't be the case if things turn out differently as we had planned it.
But, who am I kidding? I never agreed to this sickening idea of a one-off experience. I could have chosen the warm coneforts of my bedroom at this time of night away from all the awkwardness that this escapade has brought me.
*Wood snaps*
"Shh! Gu... Guys, I think we're being watched", I said trying my best not to let out a defeaning shriek.
"No, Adam. You know what comes next after a person says something like that", Eric said.
"He's right, you know? I knew we shouldn't have come here", said Bella. Who tried hard not cry but, pretty much can't. Cos' she couldn't believe the fact that she neglected all the warning signs of a doomed expedition.
"Calm yourself, Belle. We'll pull through this", Steve remarked.
"But, we have to stick together. Nothing will happen while I'm here".
For some reason, unbeknownst to me, Steve had this air of calm that just wasn't right. He had no right to be that way. He brought us here, didn't he? Although, the thought of it being a well-planned prank crossed my mind. The situation got worse when we heard a wolf howl in the distance. But, nobody in their right.mond would want to prank on teenagers this far out of the city.
Suddenly, Steve suggested that we go take shelter inside the cave. Then, I thought "*Inside the bloody cave? There's no way I'm going in ther*e." Felix stood in the middle of both Eric and Bella. His expression sunken, his eyes wide in the sight of something horrific, something unnatural. The campfire burnt and crackled a few steps from where I stood. It's lit light was swallowed up in the deep darkness. In the background, an inaudible sound of an argument ensued between the three friends. Eric, Steve and Belle. It was like time had stopped. Like, I had a feeling something dangerous laid in wait behind me. And, Felix could see it, which explained his terrified expression.
What more could be done? The creature probably had it's claws and fangs waiting to tear every bit of flesh from my body. I could've tried running, perhaps tried screaming but, none of that would matter if I was going to die anyway. I closed my eyes and said something that ended with ***"...sorry Mom".***
But, then i heard the inaudible sound become a noise "Run!!!!".
"Get outta there, Adam!!!", Steve shouted.
My awareness sort of kicked in. Felix remained frozen on the spot as I passed him. His gaze stayed upon the approaching figure. A creature of Terror. It's fur as black as the night sky itself, with glowing red eyes and fangs, and claws - approaching.
A terrifying sight for our eyes. We watched as it mauled him away. Each step in synchronicity with my pounding heart like an unending sequence of loud thudding. Never have we beheld such a grim, cold and monstrous creation. If it were to be loosed into civilization no one would stand it's sight, and wrath.
A question wouldn't stop staring me in the face afterwards. Why were we spared? It was as if one of us were sacrificed to a beast, and we couldn't help but watch It take him away. One by one we all fell on our feet, as if to tremble in it's absence. My legs grew numb from standing. I could feel my palm sweating and quivering, the tremors in my feet and the disbelief that fell on our faces. We beheld terror and it left us traumatised beyond reasoning.
We weren't able to utter a word of it to anyone. Steve, and Belle had to distance themselves for a while. We had lost Felix. He died not being helped by a single one of us. But, could we help it? We were just as afraid. We wouldn't know why we were spared that night. One thing, however, is for sure we have been scarred emotionally for the rest of our lives. A tragic end to it all.
Greetings!
Hello, guys.
That was a quick and short horror story. I don't know if it served its purpose, but i reckon it creeped you out a bit. Smiles...
Thank you for sticking with me.
Until we read again.

Is Greatness a Gift than it is, a process?
Date: Friday, May 13th 2022.
A couple days ago, in my away time from read. I stumbled upon a quote by William Shakespeare, and it said:
**Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.**
I didn't think anything of it at first, but something kept bringing back those very words to my attention. And, like I usually get, I found myself pondering on them. This post is bred from these thoughts which eventually became a soliloquy, which progressed into a discussion and, here we are.
Image https://unsplash.com/photos/5U_28ojjgms
It all started with a soliloquy and, after a while I posted it on my WhatsApp hoping someone would engage it. Fortunately, big brother came through.
All the time big brother and I engaged that quote, although it was a rather quick discourse that we somehow managed to postpone it to a much later time due to his busy schedule. Things were said.
Actually, I opined that humans can be born great and that when we critically observe the long history of Mankind, the many gifted minds that have graced the Earth amongst other things. It is safe to say that people like those have, in some quota, done endless wonders.
He made a case that was quite genuine, and then said:
"I personally do not believe people are born great. ***I believe great men are made not born."***
***"Greatness is more of process than gift."***
A thought that eventually inspired the initial Title post.
I understand that many people hold the belief that you must go through a certain amount of process to achieving greatness. It is in itself a wholesome notion.
Which now begs the other question:
"**Why can't greatness be a Gift?"**
If we are to look at it from the scriptural point of view.
Can we then say - Our Lord wasn't born Great, and that he only went on his life's work in order to achieve greatness? (Not that he was in the quest for fame and greatness in the eyes of Men, or anything).
Or, was it not said of Moses that he would be the one to lead the Israelites to their Promised Land? (Was he born in order to liberate his people - which later testified of him being born great or, was he thrust upon doing what he could, thereby, neglecting his status as a once promising Prince for a future quest?).
It doesn't sound illogical, does it?
When we look at the life of great Men in our time they'll tell of how they went through series of hardships - not necessarily unfortunate or ill events per se, in order to get to their acclaimed fame, or wealth. We somehow forget that just maybe we carry something inside of us that needs to shine in a world that yearns it. Only if we just realise what we are.
Maybe we sometimes fail to understand that even as we were once infants, we've always had this seed of greatness that is always needed. ***A quote paraphrased from Dr. Myles Monroe.***
I don't intend to make this post long, so allow me to end it on this note. I don't in any way despise a Man's journey to a great end. (I don't mean death in this case). However, my stand was only of the fact that any child CAN be born great. And, that whether they realise it or not they are special people. We all are. And, it's through knowing our speciality that we can ever be of service to our world. Wherever we may be.
I'd like to hear what you think on this.
Until we read again.
