3rd Day Of CNY: All Of Us Are Dead
February 5, 2022
February 3, Thursday, the last holiday of CNY. I woke up late as usual and just slacked in my room the whole morning while grinding in the real world. I had a lot of time to write an article but I was distracted. I was distracted by this Korean series I started watching on the 2nd day of February. Although I know what it is about, my curiosity led me to watch the series and see what's in there. And that's it! I became unfocused and distracted by the horrible scenes and bloody episodes.
I woke up at 10 in the morning and continued watching the series due to boredom. And until noon, my draft was still empty because the series kept destructing my concentration and my thoughts were scattered just like how those zombie humans scattered everywhere. I wanted to stop watching it for a while, but I just couldn't as I wanted to finish it very soon. Once I play the series, there'll be no turning back as it will only continuously play in my head, and will keep my mind awake at night.
This series deserves huge applause and recognition and is worth watching. But not for kids though as scenes are bloody terrible.
The writer of this series was probably inspired by the current pandemic situation. And while watching the series, viewers would probably think, what if the world turns into zombies? What would we do then? Zombies don't recognize people, so how could we recognize our loved ones? How could we fight zombies? How could we survive? Would we live?
Undeniably, there are a lot of questions running in our minds while watching this series, and all I want is to finish this. And we can't keep relating it to the current situation of the world. It's more than two years now that the world is still fine and still battling with this invisible monster that seems like it is mutating and producing new variants. This is perhaps the most terrible problem that can't be resolved by anyone, even the higher-ups. But during these dark moments, what we only need is to put more faith, and hope that someday, the world would be back to normal.
Back to the series...
How did it all start?
Because of the outcasts and the human monsters. It all started because of the outcasts being bullied by human monsters. And a loving father only wanted his son to change and become stronger. But things went wrong that only turned him into a monster. Then everything happened and changed. In just one snap, the place turned into Zombieland that everyone thought wouldn't happen in real life and only in fiction movies.
Who do you think should be blamed here? The Science professor who made the virus? The bullies who provoked the professor to turn his son into a monster? Or should we involve the parents here?
I came across @George_Dee's article about Blame Others or Seek Solution? (Parent).
It is somehow relatable to the situation in the series. Why? Just like what George explained in his article,
"Parent negligence has caused so much trouble in the life of their kids but not many would admit that their mistakes resulted in what their kids ended up in. If parents would step up their game and perfect their duties which are bigger than feeding and clothing, I believe there will be positive changes in the world."
-George
Certainly, if all parents would only teach their kids good moral conduct, to respect each other, don't look down on anyone, and won't put any pressure on their shoulders, then there'll be no outcasts, no weak, no rich or poor, and most especially, there'll be no bullies.
Parents are always our first teachers and at home is where everything started, the good teachings. And Parents' failure to perform their duty as a good example to their children would only put their children into trouble. Either they would follow a wrong path that would put their lives in miserable situations, or they'll turn into individuals that they don't want to be like, humans who hurt humans. They are no different from real monsters.
The series only wants to portray that humans can be monsters as well. And in this world full of deceit, unfair treatment, misjudgment, misuse of law and power, only the strong would survive and outcasts will always be outcasts. The weak will be defeated, and the powerful will be much more powerful.
And if you consider yourself an outcast, where do you think you'll go? Would you forever be defenseless, vulnerable, and cowardly hiding from the monsters? Or would you fight to survive and live?
It is worth noting that, "there'll be no bullies, powerless, outcasts if there are no weak." So why stand behind the dark if you can stand in the light and fight for what is right? You can be strong too. You just have to believe in yourself.
But despite the irresponsible act shown by other parents in the series, there were heroic acts as well. The young mother who was about to abandon her newborn child opted to go back and protected her child from the zombies. She even tied herself when she was bitten just so she couldn't hurt her child once she turned into a zombie. Another one was the mother of Cheongsan who risked her life just to save her son but ended up being feasted by the zombies. And above all, the heroic act of On-Jo's father who even break the rules and sacrificed his own life just to save her daughter and her friends.
Their acts were truly commendable. So to all parents out there, teach your children to respect others, not to look down on anyone, teach your children to be confident and strong, not to be outcasts, and most especially, teach them to become a good humans, not a monster.
Additionally, this pandemic crisis and the story portrayed in the series only showed that every crisis always has unfortunate circumstances, that include losing people's lives and loved ones. But there is one line I liked the most from the Class President, Nam Ra.
"Even if the whole world turns into zombies, let's not despair." -Nam Ra
And I agree with this. Although it's easier said than done. But when things go upside down and the world seems impossible to turn back to its normal phase, we should not despair. Rather, we should have strong faiths and high hopes, because whatever happens, things will improve and get back on track. It may take longer, but slowly, things will get better. There'll always be solutions to everything.
Besides, it can't be dark days forever. May it be monsters, pandemics, catastrophes, or personal battles. Remember that the sun always shines after the storm. And most importantly, we humans should always act like humans, not monsters! Because when an unfortunate crisis happens, there is no rich or poor, no strong or weak, no bullies or outcasts, no powerless or powerful, because we are all at the same level. And it is only us, humans, who can help each other to get back on track and see the light again.
By the way, is it only me that could feel that there's a part 2 of this series? On-Jo was bitten by a zombie, yet, she didn't turn into a zombie. In the 2nd part, I could feel that On-Jo would become the antidote, then Nam Ra and the group would be Zombie's Slayer just based on the finale of the series. And Cheungsan? What if he's alive, but would be the strongest zombie. That would gonna be the hardest battle that his friends and On-Jo need to conquer. But maybe love would save them? Dang. A story is running in my mind inspired by this series, haha. But I'm lazy to write it down, lol.
Anyway, thanks for reading.
