When I'm Tired I love to Draw
March 15.
I went out this afternoon to settle some debts. I say I have to thank readcash and noisecash, and everyone who continuously supports me on these two platforms. I used part of my earnings to pay for the unsettled four-month amortization for the piece of property I bought five years ago. If I can make my earnings here grow, I will be able to pay off that property in no time.
Greetings friends around the globe. How is your weather on your end? It's summer here in the Philippines and the heat can really dry out your energy. I was out only for about three hours but when I got home I felt so tired already!
What Do You Do When You Are Tired?
Obviously, you want to take some rest. Maybe, watch some videos or play some some video games. Or just sit down and drink a hot cup of tea, coffee, or have a bottle of beer.
Me? I love to draw.
However, I haven't taken up my pencils for months. I did start to digitize some of my sketches, but I haven't drawn using pencils on paper for months.
After a tiring afternoon, I thought of picking up my pencils again.
No Formal Training.
Except for the basic drawings that I had in high school and the first two years in my Engineering course, I had no formal training in drawing. The drawing in school though focused on isometrics, creating a basic floor plan and the likes. I had no training in drawing a face, a human, or anything else.
I did learn by observing my two elder brothers who took up drafting in high school. If I had taken fine arts in college, I might be in the comic book business by now.
I love to draw.
I love to draw even as a child. I remember starting with stick figures. That's why I'm amazed at seeing animated stick figures on YouTube. Maybe I should learn how to do that.
Here is one of my favorites. (Note: This is 30 minutes long)
Then I started copying superhero characters from various comic books by DC and Marvel. As years go by, I would make my own "comic books" just for my own consumption.
Here are some of my drawings.
WVP or Wolverine Vs. Predator (cross over)
Nikkyo - Second Technique in Aikido. It's a painful wrist pinning technique
An Alien Race--- I already named the race, but I can't recall it for now.
Anyway, when I got home, all I could think of was to pick up my pencils and draw.
What I had in mind is a scene from the story that had been playing in my mind for decades.
At first, I wanted to create something like a graphic novel, which I will publish here or on my own website. By the way, it's not the same story that I published here a few months ago. That was inspired by a mobile game. However, I have uninstalled that game long ago, so I can't seem to continue that. Maybe I will someday... or not. I did try to publish it long ago, but I made the story too dragging.
Web Toon?
I encountered webtoon a couple of years ago, I think. The one that I remember reading is the story that was adopted by Netflix in the Korean zombie-themed movie "Alive".
So, my idea has evolved a bit. Instead of creating a graphic novel, I am now more inclined in making a webtoon or webcomics. Who knows, maybe I can ask for support through BCH in making that. Anything is possible. However, this was not part of my plan for this year, but my love for drawing always kicks in.
After dinner, I decided to make a cup of my new favorite Jasmine tea, picked up my drawing pad and pencils, and created this scene.
It's quite rough. I haven't practiced for months. But maybe I will go for a Mangga-type drawing style. Fewer details mean I can do each frame faster.
Ok. Going to make that version now.
Live a productive life.
Thanks for reading.
