Yesterday I participated in the challenge hosted by @CoquiCoin, if you want to read my article just click it here.
Now, I decided to make my entry on Christmas Challenge by @gertu13. If you wanted to know what it is all about, you can read her article "Hey you! This is the promised "Christmas contest."
What I am going to share today was about my experience during my high school days when I studied in a school operated by nuns. Before I will share those experiences, let me share with you all the place where I studied.
This was the school where I studied at. In the above picture, that is where building one is located. In the second picture, it is the aerial view of the whole campus, and on the third one, it's taken during the flag ceremony.
This is the place that holds a lot of memories and those memories will always be treasured by me.
Here are some facts about this school
This is a private school yet the students don't have to pay anything. All are free from the food that we eat, the school supplies, and even the things that we used every day.
We are not allowed to ask for money from our family outside or even bring a penny after our two weeks vacation every year.
Christmas is the most awaited occasion for all of us who studied in this private institution. Though we were far from our family, we could still enjoy this occasion very much because of the nuns who served to be our mothers. They never forgot to give us some presents like chocolates, new undergarments, big junk foods like chippy/Mr. Chips and many more.
Those may be small presents for others but we were all happy and excited to have those in our hands.
On the second week of December, that's our scheduled Christmas party in every classroom. Our Christmas party is different from the usual Christmas party in another school where there are exchanging gifts and we also pay for the food.
In our school, instead of exchanging gifts, we are exchanging cards since we don't have money to wrap a gift. We made our own Christmas cards that will be given to our classmates. This is so nice because we can design our cards. Our creativity was challenged, we usually cut the letters that are present on the word merry Christmas or if one doesn't know how to letter cut, she can do lettering instead. Me? I prefer those two coz I can do both.
Who believes that Santa exists? Me, I do when I was in high school. I remember when it was nighttime on December 24, our mother-sister would tell us to put socks on the end of the bed coz Santa will put some Christmas treats on them. And because we do believe in Santa, we put one sock per bed.
When midnight came, my other dorm mates were awake. They would see if Santa was putting treats on our socks but they witnessed that it isn't Santa, it's our mother-sister. So when morning came after the bell rings, my dormmates who witnessed the things that our mother-sister did, told everyone about it.
And on my second until the fourth year, every December 24th, I make sure to stay awake until midnight. I saw it in my own eyes that there is no Santa, only the nuns.
Early morning on December 25, the first thing that we did after taking a bath was attend mass. We sang the Christmas songs and when the mass ended, we would approach our friends and greet each other a Merry Christmas but that's just a quick greeting coz we need to be back to our dorm to prepare for our breakfast.
December 25 is a day that was full of enjoyment. We had so many parlor games that we enjoyed playing. We played the longest line, message relay, and some outdoor games. When we won, we will receive a pack of chocolates/candies and we would share it with 45 people. (Each dorm was consist of 45 students)
That's how we spent our Christmas season during my high school days. It was full of fun and we make many good memories with our friends and mother-sisters.
