Punakaiki - Pancake rocks, New Zealand 🇳🇿 (Video link down below) For my first post for my new weekly theme of ‘rocks’, I am sharing a very unique Geological feature called Punakaiki, or pancake rocks! Fox Glacier, New Zealand ‘rocks’ 🤘 The schist rocks here have been carved over hundreds of years by the ever receding glacier. It has formed these enormous vertical cliffs! They’re huge, I don’t have an exact height but this one I would guess is around the 800m high. Could be way taller! The valley is brilliantly massive! Valley of 9000 waterfalls! Milford Sound, Fiordland - Part 1 When driving to Milford sound the best part is exiting the homer tunnel and entering the valley of 9000 waterfalls. Foshan, Guangdong - Part 1 Some of you might know that I spend quite some time in China :) I loved it! I was mostly based in Guangzhou, and sometimes I would travel outside. Foshan isn’t far from Guangzhou. Here I am exploring Xiqiao mountain, an extinct volcano! Guanyin of Mount Xiqiao, Foshan - Part 3 This is right at the top of the mountain! It’s also huge, one of the biggest Buddhist statues at 77m in height. Sitting on a 50 million year old extinct volcano in a national park, it’s a great visit :) Foshan was a cool experience too. It’s known for its stone works and tool making. Lake Rotorua! Geothermal Springs, Rotorua, NZ Part 1 :) Rotorua is in the main volcanic region here in New Zealand 🇳🇿 there are geothermal parks everywhere including this one in the city centre! Geyser eruption! Geothermal Wonderlands! See the progression through the 3 pictures :) in the first picture, off to the far right you might see some steam. Geothermal Cave and Healing Mud :) These two photographs might look a little strange... so let me explain :) firstly, they’re unique features! The first one is a geothermal cave - apparently one of only 2 of its kind in the world. This one being in Nee Zealand and the other in Italy. The view over a Geothermal Wonderland! There was a hike up to a view point to see park of the park and some other thermal springs from above. The geysers had calmed down and I was about to get a decent picture without too much steam. I think it’s so amazing that places like this exist! Love it :) I’ll be moving on to another Geothermal area soon, where you can get a boat ride on a lake - which is actually a huge volcanic crater! So that was fun :) Peace and love!

Good morning noise fam:) Here’s a mini geyser! This one is always releasing underground pressure, and sometimes it’s get super powerful and blasts steam out high into the sky! This is at another volcanic park now, and I’m on my way to catch a boat ride in a crater which filled with water over time and is the most recent large eruption site. 90 degree Celsius volcanic pool! This one was definitely wayyyy too hot to relax in! But the bright blue was so amazing! I loved this, one of the highlights :) The water level here rises and falls by about 15 meters a day. It’s pretty high up here but you can see the line for where it rises too. Check out those awesome red rocks too, there’s always such an array of brilliant colours at these places! I’m not exactly sure of the minerals that give this bright blue colour, but…
Rainbow mountain! Rotorua, New Zealand 🇳🇿 The emerald pools were so incredible! My previous post was the vibrant blue, and now the emerald pool! It’s so beautiful to see, I loved it! This one isn’t as hot as the last pool, but it’s still super warm and also not good for humans to bathe in due to the acidity! Thermal Streams, New Zealand 🇳🇿 Good night everyone, it’s getting late here in NZ! Here’s two pictures of a walk I was on, alongside a thermal stream :) the water was fast flowing, and you can see the steam in the first picture. This was hot! Lake Rotomahana (a recent crater) 🌋 This lake filled in over some years, but it’s actually a huge crater! If you look at the volcano in the distance you can just about make out a circular divot facing me, that was where it erupted and blew out the sides and top. Steaming rocks of Lake Rotomahana, NZ Following on from my last post, here’s some close ups that the boat was able to take us. I really like the red colours in the Rocky edges, and they were also having steam and hot water pouring down them :) some had mini hot waterfalls coming into the lake. Buried in this lake are the pink and white silica terraces, since the eruption that led to this crater filling up, the pink and white terraces are underwater. Some divers have gone…
Mt Ngauruhoe, Tongariro National Park MT DOOM! For any lord of the rings fans haha! This is the most well known volcano 🌋 in New Zealand and I’m sure you can see why, it’s amazing! Blue Lake, Tongariro crossing, New Zealand 🇳🇿 Just past the emerald lakes, you are met with another beautiful body of water. This one isn’t quite as striking as the emeralds, but still the colour and landscape make it just as stunning! Again, no swimming here. It has some level of acidity due to the volcanic nature, but it’s a protected national park. Red crater, Tongariro National Park, NZ That is Mt Ngauruhoe on the right (2,200m) and then the ‘red crater’ is just on the left and a little closer. The crimson colour comes from the oxidised iron in the rock, and it’s so impressive to see close up! An amazing sunrise! 🌄 Magic carpet :) This thick layer of clouds surprised me with a beautiful sky! River Reflections :) The Waikato, NZ ☀️ Do you all have a chill spot you like to return to? Here is another shot from one of my favourite chill spots! The water is nice and calm here, it’s actually a pretty fast flowing river but there’s some nice pockets like this :) Being the largest river in NZ it has a bit of everything, waterfalls, rapids... oh, and there’s a bungee jump much further south! Calm Before The Storm! ⛈ Many parts of the world have been hit by some intense weather of recent, as has New Zealand. You can see the rain in the distance over the ocean. It’s a pretty dramatic shot here, but I do like the contrast of the sun shining on the water and the glimpse of blue sky! Sunset in New Zealand :) I like the colours in this picture - it was a calming view:) also the rocks are cool, this is another area I like to explore. Waikato River Sunset and Moon Rise! 🌅 🌕 Featuring the full moon!:) here is another spot I like to walk or cycle to, it gives a nice view over the river and on a clear day the sky always has these awesome colours!:) Plus, it was a bonus as the moon was rising up! Cirrus clouds ⛅️ The sun looking awesome, with a minor halo around it :) thanks to the subscriber who told me that these were cirrus clouds the other day! Apparently they consist of ice and water, which is cool to think of! These clouds bring incredible sunsets! Beautiful Taranaki 🌋 🌅 New Plymouth (Taranaki) is one of my favourite spots here in New Zealand. Firstly, the mountain is stunning and was the biggest challenge I’ve completed when I made it to the summit! Man that was hard... Plus the beaches, sea, rivers, sunsets! Today’s hike - Wairere falls! The first of many! This was an awesome day! It was forecast for lots of rain but it’s been sunny, which is great. This is a challenging hike, all the way up to the tallest waterfall (158m) in the north island. This is near the start of the track, walking through ancient forest and many bridges giving views like this!:) My legs are feeling it now haha but I love it! Sunset over the lake :) Here is the sunset from last night, some light clouds started coming over and gave a lovely pink/purple colour coming almost right overhead! The Pukeko 🐦 Something a little different here for this post :) here is a native New Zealand bird called the Pukeko. It is found is other parts of the world such as Australia and Indonesia but is native to NZ. It had a violet/blue head and Brest which looks like silk, I love the colour! Through the grass :) The rain has been hitting New Zealand very hard today, and some heavy winds down south! Calming down here now. This is a shot from chilling on a summers day by the lake, I was laying on the grass and was trying to take a few ‘creative’ shots through the grass into the lake, featuring some daisies. Fire in the sky 🔥 Here is one of the most fiery sunsets I have seen. I was walking down the street to my sunset spot and the sky was just lit up! The different layers of clouds really highlighted the reds and oranges, and then the gap down the middle allowing some bright light at the end! It was great :) This wasn’t taken today, but a few weeks back. The rain is really coming down here, it has been for about 5 days now but there is more forecast for the rest of the week!…
Pink before dark!:) I love these moments right before the sunsets, when there is some cloud coverage just at the right height. The suns low angle of light create these beautiful pinks as that’s the wavelength of light we can pick up!:) it’s really a wonderful phenomenon that our eyes are able to pick up :) The rain is still really coming down here... Kawhia, New Zealand 🇳🇿 Reminiscing back to the summer daze! The rain has been quite constant here in New Zealand, as it seems to have been almost everywhere else! It’s also winter, which is great still, but I’m looking forward to some nice summer days again where I can go swimming and have some nice beach time! Purple Haze! One thing about sunsets that always surprises me is how I will never get bored of watching them. I wonder why it is that we are all so attracted to watching sunsets, and why it gives us all a strong emotion. For me it’s just a moment where I can clear my mind and be in the moment :) definitely a calming view! This one was so purple! Powerful weather ☀️ ⛈ Can you see the storm on the left? This was raging! We had driven through that storm to get to this point to watch the sunset, and it sure turned out to be a special one :) here is the beginning! Ngarunui beach, Raglan, New Zealand 🇳🇿 This is for sure one of my favourite spots in the north island. Raglan is a super cool surfer town with unique shops and a creative vibe! I definitely want to spend more time here, and that I will do when the time allows! I took this photo a few months back. Lake sunsets 🌅 Here’s another one from the summer. Even during a busy schedule it’s great to be able to get out for a bit each day and try to unwind, and set the mind free! This was a wonderful sunset, a classic! Clear day, massive sun, lens flares looking great and the lake :) nature provides us the best canvas! New Zealand Silver Ferns! A while back I posted a picture of a silver fern and quite a lot of you liked it, as it was something you hadn’t seen before :) here is another picture I’ve taken of this beautiful plant! Tongariro sunrise 🌄 Just before setting off on a 7 hour 20km hike through the tongariro crossing, I watched this awesome sunrise for a few minutes! It was an early start and a challenging hike, was steep to begin with and very windy up top! You can see the mountain on the left? Well, the volcano 🌋 the hike goes over and around that to the other side :) it was probably the best one I’ve ever done in terms of views! That’s also Mt Doom from lord of the rings! Peace and love!

Taranaki Sunrise 🌄 A beautiful sunrise from about half way up Mt Taranaki :) this would be at around 1000m up and just before I started my ascent to the summit. Taranaki sunrise 🌄 Part 2! Following on from my last post, here is what was casting that huge triangular shadow! Clear waters of Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown (click for full pic) You can also see the SS Earnslaw on the right, that steam boat takes you on a lake tour :) I haven’t done it but it sure would be fun!:) I did do a few other lake activities. Dawson falls, Taranaki Located at the southern side of Mt Taranaki, there’s a whole new world of walks! Goblin forests and waterfalls a plenty! This is the largest waterfall in the area (that I know of) and it sure is beautiful :) the clear pools continue to cascade down until they reach the sea. Wilkies Pools, Taranaki 🇳🇿 These cascading waterfalls eventually end up down at Dawson falls, which my previous two posts were about :) Here you can hike up and up all of these many falls and pools. I only went to a certain height as I was alone and didn’t think anyone else was in the park - I didn’t see anyone for about 3 hours which was crazy! However halfway up a mountain in misty conditions, I had to be sensible and start descending from this point :) safety first…
