Waitomo Caves, New Zealand 🇳🇿 Part 1 Thought to have been formed 30 million years ago, the cave system in Waitomo is extensive! Home of the ‘glow worms’, you can have a tour where you get on a small boat on an underground river and in darkness the glow worms light up the caves like the night sky 🌌 Picture 1 is me posing in the cave haha! The second picture is along the path so you can get a feel of how these caves look, and they’re big! Many are undiscovered and there’s water flowing to unknown locations. Picture 3 is the skeleton of the extinct Moa bird. A flightless bird which hasn’t been with us for about 500 years - they were all hunted. They were huge birds! Last picture is the outdoors light slowly fading away! Get a feel for how deep I am going! Stay tuned for part 2 where I’ll show the glow worms and outside of the cave system. My weekly theme is ‘rocks’ where I’ll share photos with cool rocky features :)
