Private Hospitals Are Mostly For Business
Hospitals and health departments are the biggest blessings on Earth and often times the people involved there are considered angels due to their work. And are one of the most respected people on Earth after Soldiers. The advancement in hospitals has drastically changed to the point that almost every disease can be cured but you have to pay for it. Yes, there comes the hard part. Though there's no surety in this work still with science and proper technology we have learned to save lives a lot now.
There are generally two types of hospitals the Private and the Government ones and I don't have to clarify that the Private ones are way more advanced and better than the government ones.
But do you know how most of the Private Hospitals are looting people by charging way more than what it's worth?
I don't know about other countries but I will talk about Indian Private Hospitals as How they charge a lot. Unaffordable prices and inflated healthcare services have made it difficult for us to avail of such facilities at affordable prices.
A Prime Incident
During the Covid period, there was one famous private hospital nearby my area like 3 km away from my house. There, one COVID patient was admitted. His condition wasn't that serious so in two days only he became healthy. And in two days only he was given a bill of 1450$, which completely shocked him. He was from a mediocre family and couldn't have afforded that amount. He just shared the bill on social media tagging some health executives, soon common people learned about it and word spread like wildfire. The health minister warned the hospital to correct the bill as it's impossible for a normal Covid patient to get such a huge bill even in one of the most expensive hospitals. The hospital realized their corrupt behavior was caught and they corrected the bill and it was around 145$, lmao.
This incident proved and exposed the corrupt business happening in private hospitals though the facilities are top-notch but the price demanded is not valid.
They use a smart approach to do this.
Let's See How Private Hospitals Are Looting Us
They charge huge amounts for medical tests like X-Rays, MRIs, Ultrasounds, etc. Syringes and surgical rates are also much higher than the set rule.
Some hospitals charge room rent greater than 3-star, 4-star hotels which are absurd.
You are not allowed to get medicines from outside in fact they give them in their hospital at a maximum retail price.
The price of medicine and medical tests are fixed and so apart from the normal service charge they are not supposed to take a bigger amount for such facilities but most of them are doing it which is a shame to humanity.
Action Taken To Stop This
Recently an investigation by CCI, the Competition Commission Of India which is responsible to regulate competition in the market and also protecting the interest of consumers found that most of the hospitals linked with large chains of companies like Apollo, Fortis, and Max Charge are taking absurd prices for medical facilities. And now notices are sent to such hospitals and they are thinking of imposing a 10% fine charge on their average turnover. They shouldn't think in fact implement it as soon as possible.

Unfortunately this is true anywhere in the world. I used to work in a private hospital back in the Philippines a couple of years ago and it was just disgusting but we nurses cannot do anything about it as the management is in charge of billing and over billing.
