Hi there! By now the group is already in Edinburgh and are already having a dafty time with Uncle Ed and well, Dafty and the gang…
This is, however, a side story from the last day the group had in Amsterdam.
Good day, Read-itizens. This is a portion of the epic travel by Elyz2021, Bloghound, and Pichi28 rooting from the frustrated travel plans and pushed by the #promptfactory of Meitanteikudo.
This is Amsterdam... Day 6
Pichi loved it when @Eylz2021 chose the Radisson Blu Hotel for their stay in Amsterdam. Amsterdam is one of the places Pichi’s inner child was doing cartwheels since the day they planned on going there. Do not be mistaken. Greece is her top still. Amsterdam and Greece are both magical in their own way. They are simply incomparable. She has not forgotten about Aristaeus one bit. But by and by she is getting the hang of the reality that they might not see each other again. They do call each other occasionally but slowly as most of such goes,
they
slowly
fade
out.
Meet these lovely people and visit their stories, too!
So, she soaked in Amsterdam the moment they got off that train. If her head can turn 360, it would. It was endless smiles for them and a lot of excited shrieks. She was even more happy to see the Dood joined them on their very first dinner.
Today is their sixth day in A’dam. She has been sleeping every night with a smile on her face because of their adventures. As always, every nighttime after everyone retreats to their own rooms to rest, Pichi would always rerun everything in her head until she falls asleep.
Waking up early on their sixth day, she aimed to see the golden hour around the city before everyone wakes up for breakfast. She walked the street of Rusland and over the canal bridge. She took a lot of pictures; greeted few locals (or tourists she cannot tell, actually), and pictures of bikes. She is still amazed at how A’dam was able to make their streets bike friendly.
She then went back to meet the group for breakfast. If there is one thing that Pichi likes in traveling with breakfast buffet is the chance to eat a lot of bacon, get her poached eggs done right, and to try a few local dishes.
They then prepared for their trip to the theme park Eylz planned for them. The theme park’s name is Efteling. It is Holland’s biggest theme park. And it was worth it staying the whole day there. Pichi is not a person easily startled-scared. She is, however, a kid easily startled – surprised. She may have lots of screams in the spookslot but she also had a lot of laugher there. Matter of fact, once she got acquainted and adjusted to the fact that she is in a theme park and this is part of the act, she eased from screaming loud to laughing a lot.
Their next stop was Baron 1898 Dive coaster. When she found out that was their next ride, she was conditioning herself a lot. She rides coasters, yes. She is a thrill-seeker, yes. But somehow coasters or anything that drops her from a height is her nemesis - that she conquers anyway. She can jump off cliffs but it feels different when something else is pulling her down.
Every time she is going to ride coasters, she remembers the very first time she rode one. It was with her brother. They were both staring at this coaster amazed, amused, and entertained. Pichi was curious because she is watching the cars go up and she is calm but when the people start screaming, she feels the hair at the back of her neck stand out and then she goes back to being calm once the ride she is watching screeches to a halt.
Her brother goes, “You know it seems fast, but really it is not. Let us go!”
For some odd reason, Pichi believed her older brother. So, she went with him. And just when the cart was going up slowly, her brother started laughing and teasing her. She so wants to slap her brother’s happy face then. But she survived and enjoyed the ride anyway.
The thing is she has this too-shocked-to-scream-on-the-way-down-will-scream-when-rail-is-no-longer-on-a-dip. Something she never really got herself to get over. So, when their ride, Baron 1898 Dive coaster was going up slowly (best watch Eylz’s video), she was already telling herself to scream on the way down to release the feeling of falling also to be “normal” like most people. When their cart started to go down, however, she had her mouth open for a scream but no sound came out until their in the dark tunnel. She was laughing at herself the whole ride and screaming with the tilt and twists. I guess “normal” coaster rider is still not her.
That was an awesome brief scream and laugh fest! That was her highlight. Though a lot of their activities that day are all in close, neck-and-neck ranking for the TOP activity. She really cannot decide. It’s a thing -a normal thing.
Back to the hotel they all prepared for their next destination. That means packing up and rolling again…
Late dinner and a little cool down for the night. Pichi is very happy and would want to say her thanks to everyone for making it happen but she holds that thought back a bit and silently whispers it as they raised their glass up for a toast for one fun day.
