Are you grateful for everything you have in life? Or are you losing hope?
Today, I want to tell you a story of a crippled girl named Nozomi. I hope you enjoy it.
In a dark room, a girl lies on the ground with a sad face.
She tries to get up, but she remembers she can no longer use her legs anymore, so she crawls to her bed, and begins to cry.
This wasn't the first time she cried herself to sleep, and ever since she lost her ability to walk, she stopped going outside and meeting people.
She had given up on everything she ever wanted to do, and her dream of being a professional swimmer had long been forgotten.
In her dreams, she always imagines being a mermaid, who can swim anywhere she wants, and explore the great blue sea.
But when she wakes up to reality, she is met with the truth, which is she will never be able to walk again.
Things weren't always like this, in the past, she was on her way to becoming the best swimmer in her country.
But life had other plans for her, and she had a serious accident that took her ability to use her legs, leading to the end of her dreams and career.
Now she is left in a wheelchair and stays with her grandma, who is already getting too old to take care of her.
Nozomi had given up on life, and the only thing that kept her alive was her grandma, she didn't want her grandma to die because of her, so she kept on living.
Ever since the accident, Nozomi had not gone outside, and she barely had any friends left because they all abandoned her when she got the condition. Or maybe they left because she always lashed out at them.
"Why is life so hard on her"
"What had she ever done to have this happen to her."
She kept on gazing at the ceiling, while her tears rolled down her eyes, was this her reality? Or was this all a dream? She wondered to herself.
Life didn't seem to be treating her fairly, and as she looked outside her window and saw others enjoying themselves, and walking, the harsh reality hit her.
She crawls quickly to the kitchen and pulls herself up, and grabs a knife from the cupboard.
She thought to herself,
"If life doesn't want me here, then it is better I kill myself, since they couldn't finish me with the accident."
As she raises the knife to kill herself, her grandma rushes in and grabs the knife from her hand.
"What are you doing, Nozomi?" Grandma says with a scared look.
"Grandma, I have had it with my life, all my dreams and hopes will never come to pass, so what is the point of living."
I would never become a professional swimmer, get married, or even have my children, I don't see any future ahead for me.
Don't stop me from killing myself, because you will never understand how I am feeling.
You can go out freely, without having to use a wheelchair, people don't look at you with pity or disappointment. If possible kill me yourself, please." Nozomi says while crying uncontrollably.
Grandma hugs Nozomi and comforts her until she sleeps.
A few weeks later, Nozomi sees her grandma collapse, and after a few hours, she is confirmed dead.
Nozomi had never felt the way she was feeling, it was as if she had truly lost everything in her life.
Her parents, her legs, her dreams and career, and now life had taken her grandma.
She had finally gotten the message life was telling her.
"I don't want you here"
She heard it clearly, and this made her realize that maybe her parents had died because of her.
Nozomi puts on her swimming gear and leaves her house.
It was the first time she had gone to the beach in months, and it seemed like it was her last.
Her eyes filled with sadness, and misery, she rolls her wheelchair towards the ocean and is never seen again.
"She had gotten what she wanted, and will finally be one with the ocean forever." The end.
Oikawa's Note: Sometimes we take for granted the privileges we have, and even when we are in good conditions, we still find a way to complain that things are not going well for us.
You can walk, talk, and do things by yourself, so why do you keep on complaining?
Always be grateful for whatever you have, because there is someone out there wishing they could live the life you don't want, so don't waste yours.
Even if life isn't going well for you, never lose hope because you never know if things would change for the better.
Taking your life should never be an option, because your life is precious, and throwing it away is sad.
Be grateful for your life, and never lose hope.
I hope you enjoyed it, thank you for reading.
