Let's review where we have been because yesterday's article was about our trip to Tagbilaran City and I wasn't able to also post an article last night due to the errors that I encountered here in read. I really thought of writing but got busy with My Defi Pet that I was already tired to write one. Do you have pets there? I bought two pets for 6 DPets and I need to buy more in the next few days. That's for a different article though but for now, let's go back to Coron, shall we?
Where have we been to?
Lunch at Kalachuchi Beach was definitely great! I was full, everyone seemed happy and we rested a bit, do you usually rest after having a heavy meal or do you go for some walking? I am about resting through which my mother usually says it would make my tummy big and I guess she's right.
Now after a short while, the tour guide called our attention and pointed to the boat which means we are off to our next destination. This time, as we were still sleepy in the boat, the tour guide introduced to us the Skeleton Wreck.
Skeleton Wreck
If you are into freediving and snorkeling, I highly recommend Coron because it has a lot of areas where shipwrecks can be found. And our next destination is a shipwreck!
During WWII, this 25-meter longship was hit with an airstrike by the US airforce. Years later, this became one of the tourist spots of Coron with the ship being home to a lot of fishes and corals.
Our boat just suddenly stopped in the middle of the sea, the waters are blue which means this is deep, seriously deep. There were islands surrounding us and so we looked down and we couldn't find anything, we have used our snorkeling gears again to view the shipwreck. This is a bit deep though and if you are good at swimming and freediving then you may go into the remains of the ship.
I on the other hand, although can swim, I can't get my body to go deep, I easily ran out of breath so snorkeling was my choice. My husband and brother can swim into the water but they can only hold their breaths for a few seconds, not enough to get into the shipwreck. But of course, we can't just get out of this spot without footage of the shipwreck so I asked one of the boatmen to bring our action camera and film it himself.
Most tourists can't swim into the shipwreck so boatmen do it for them, for us in this case. The boatmen are also good at diving and can hold their breath for a long time.
The shipwreck shows only a little portion of the ship. This portion has been already filled with sea creatures as I mentioned earlier in this article. Our boatmen captured it but I couldn't get a good clear screenshot from the video as the clip was shaky.
Also, the fishes in this area are so used to having people around, they are very hospitable! They smile at the camera and would even want to kiss us! Kidding! They are just friendly, they wouldn't mind having us around. Later on, I found out why they are so welcoming, that is because the boatmen usually give them rice and other food so they could gather around the boat and tourists can get unlimited photos with the fish.
It was super hot this time as it was just after lunch. It is not much of a problem though because we can just snorkel but mind you, this will make us look like grilled fish later on.
We got very tired from all the swimming, flipping, and trying to get near the shipwreck, some battles we just have to raise our white flag, this is one of those. I have to stop, go back to the boat, and rest. We still have two other places to explore and we don't want to have any energy reaching on those locations, also, we didn't bring any snacks! How in the world did we not think of bringing any snacks!
I was checking on my action camera, do I still have enough battery left? When going on an island hopping like this or any time of long travel or whole day trip, we must have extra batteries. The action camera does have extra batteries but not our mirrorless camera so we have to just be easy with the clicks!
Let's move on to the next, this time, we are going to a beach! Stay tuned! Are you still with me guys?
See you at the next stop. For now, you might want to check some other travel articles below:
