The newborn naturally acquires certain motor skills and uses his body spontaneously. For example, when he senses his parents nearby, he instinctively reaches out to them. If he is bothered by strong light, he will just turn his head or cover his eyes with his hands. And later these little creatures find various ways to achieve their goals. At first, they grab the surrounding objects with their hands, looking for support to get up, and when they get a little stronger, they start crawling.
However, the motor skills of babies at this age are not yet sufficiently developed, which means that their ability to hold the head upright or keep the body in a straight position is limited. Gentle physical treatments can improve your baby's motor skills and coordination.
A mild massage helps
For starters, a gentle massage helps the baby grow and develop. Babies that parents massage gain more weight, are less irritable and sleep better. They also show better mental and motor development. In addition, babies love the feeling of massage. Spread a towel on the bed and lay the baby on his stomach over it. Put some baby oil on your hands and rub your palms to warm the oil. Massage your baby from neck to shoulders, then from neck to buttocks, then from shoulders to hands and feet to feet.
Turn the baby and massage her from the neck to the shoulders, then from the neck to the abdomen and finally the limbs. Do not practice this if your baby is allergic to oil. Gently rub your baby's limbs, hands, feet with fabrics of different structure. You can use silk, wool and jeans for this purpose. This treatment will help the baby develop a sense of touch.
Colorful rattle for the development of fine motor skills
Spread the blanket on the floor and lay the baby on his stomach over it. Take a colorful rattle and rattle with it. When the baby notices the rattle, lift it up and down. The baby's eyes will follow the rattle and this will encourage her to lift her head and thus exercise her neck, back and arm muscles.
Put a smooth rubber ring or rattle in your baby's hands as often as possible, as this will boost her ability to grasp objects. The more opportunities the baby has to use his hands and feel objects with his fingers, the faster the development of fine motor skills will take place, that is, the skill of using fingers and hands.
Exercises for babies
Put the baby on a blanket spread out on the floor and turn it on its back. Gently stretch your baby's arm, then bend it slightly at the elbow towards the shoulders. Repeat this five to six times with both hands.
Then gently raise and lower the baby's arms. Stretch the baby's legs with gentle movements, and then bend them slightly at the knees so that the feet are closer to the thighs. Try doing bike riding movements. Sing or talk to your baby while doing these exercises with her.
