Lotus flower grows through mud, dirty pond water, and far away from the sun, but it blooms into a beautiful flower. It symbolizes purity, rebirth, and enlightenment. And even if it grows through murky waters, it able to draw nourishment to present a beautiful flower, and the potential lies deep within the core before it is unfolding.
At night, the flower will sink below the water's surface, then will surface again in the morning and heeds the call of the sun. The flower will bloom untouched by the dirty mud, and each petal remains clean and pure.
The lotus' daily resurrection shows its fascinating will to live. The lotus seeds can even withstand a thousand years even without water. It continues to revitalize itself, and come back as glorious as it was last seen.
The lotus flower is a perfect metaphor for the human condition. The mud represents the challenges, difficulties, sickness, and any tough situation.
Sometimes we felt like being stuck in the mud when we are depressed, we are being surrounded by negative energy in a place as dark as mud. Some gave up, but some tried their best to lift themselves from the mud, to seek for the light. We can always pull something in every tough situation, and that can help us grow as a person.
When we are facing tough challenges in life, we sometimes fell on the ground and having difficulty getting up. We feel like submerging into the mud of waters, there is no helping hand to reach out, and the sun is nowhere to give us light. But just like the lotus flower, it submerges below the murky waters during the darkest hours, but it will bloom into a beautiful flower in the morning. It only signifies that the sun always rises at the end of the night, it will shine and will give us hope. And it can't be dark forever, because there will always be a sun that will light our day, and will give us new hope, a new beginning.
When we are extremely sick, we thought that it's the end of the world for us, we forgot that we are divine beings, that we have our own potential within our hearts, that our fate is just being tested. We are also like a lotus flower that has the potential to bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world. It only reminds us that no matter how tough the situation is, our fate should remain strong and pure, untouched by the dirt of life.
Lotus flower only grows in the mud, not in clean water or on the soil. For us humans, we have to grow in mud - the obstacles, challenges, difficulties, to grow and gain wisdom, to become a strong human, to conquer all obstacles that are thrown in our life. And whether we have nothing, or we have it all, the mud speaks that humans share a common ground - happiness, sadness, illness, and death. Humans indeed associate this flower with unwavering faith.
The lotus flower reminds us that no matter how muddy our life is, no matter how difficult the situation is, no matter how challenging the journey is, we have the freedom to choose how to perceive life and things in this world.
We always have the power to accept and transform our obstacles into openings because we create our faith based on how weΒ perceive the world. And without mud, we would not have the necessary experiences for our own growth. We would not have success, because to achieve success, we have to conquer all obstacles in our way. Without mud, we would not know how to become compassionate and understanding.
If we are sick, lonely, depressed, hesitant, weak, lost, we can return to ourselves, to the real us, and discover ourselves like a lotus flower, and surface the dirty mud, beautiful and strong.
And to gain more wisdom, compassion, and kindness, we have to grow like a lotus flower and open each petal one by one. Just like the lotus flower, we have a heart full of fertile seeds, waiting to spring splendidly and bear fruit in this world.
To grow as a person, we have to dive into the mud, discover new things to pave the way, grow to reach towards the light and bloom, and do not allow the dirt that surrounds us to affect our growth or beauty.
If you feel like sinking in the mud, be a lotus flower, reach out for the light, bloom beautifully, and be strong.
