My House Has Become Disney While browsing over Facebook I came about this shared post, "My house has become disney..." Disney is a place where you can bring your kids to witness how it feels to be in a land of wonders. A place to meet those Disney characters in real life and behold the beauty inside the place. It surely is an ecstatic feeling that leaves a memory of happiness both to young and old. So when one's house becomes a disney I wonder what it looks and how does it feel and be in it. This was the Facebook post that was shared by another mom... It's pretty funny, right? But in reality every stay at home mom can relate.😅 Most days I am Cinderella Everyday is always the same, the routine that is. I wake up while the kids are still soundly asleep. Since it is the last quarter of the year and the night is much longer than the day, the season brings colder temperature especially in the morning that I have to forcibly get my groggy self out of the bed. No matter if I have a sleepless night due to one or two of the kids being sick or just my anxiety in an active mode. I pull myself downstairs to cook and prepare our meal while I heat water for their bath. I am not a person who's fond of coffees so I just take warm water to warm my system up. And by 6:30 in the morning I wake them kids to take a bath. It's nice to stay in bed because it is cold but they have to wake up or else they will be late for school. Lucky are we if the baby won't wake up earlier than they do so that they can prepare easier. After the kids are gone to school, I am left with the baby which I need to tend. So by 10am I will put him to bed then wash the dishes, clean the house and put the hampers of laundry into the washing machine then pick Graeden from daycare center. Eventually, it is already noon so prepare for lunch na naman. Most often the laundry is not done yet so when the baby takes a nap in the afternoon then it's the time to get it done. Likewise, my eldest helps me with washing the dishes and baby sitting their lil brodah whenever he can. Sometimes I also ask him to cook rice and simple viands. Most of the time the house is a mess because of the kids toys, their clothes just in the corner of their room or wherever they changed and it is tiring to keep a house in order. I obliged the kids to keep their toys after playing and their dirty clothes in the laundry basket. However, it is not always done so I have to do it especially when they left the house to play. Just like Cinderella, I do every house chores without a fuss. That is because I am a mothuh who is not expecting anyone to do it for me and is doing and giving everything for my family. Some days I am sleeping beauty The laundry baskets get full every three or four days and because it's a sore eye that's why I wash it immediately. It's the most busiest days. On the days that I was like having a free time I just slouch in bed while the baby is having his daytime nap. Lucky me if my eyes get heavy then I could also nap. But most often when the baby and my third child is asleep I can't sleep. It's my "me-time". I just lie in the couch or beside my sleeping babies. I have an insomnia which sometimes I badly like to knock my head on the wall because it is sometimes accompanied by my anxiety and headache. Due to sleepless nights especially when one of the kids' sick that I become so unproductive. Having a beauty rest is one of the most coveted wish I would like to have in days like these😁 aside from having a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on. There are days I turn into a beast There is no day without me yelling... You know kids always are testing a parent's patience. Some days they are as meek as a lamb but mostly you have to deal with their stubbornness. You have to be firm when trying to discipline them and not give in with their tantrums. They might think you're a monster or a beast who doesn't allow them some things they wanted to do, someone who always sets limit and gets mad when disobeyed. And when I look in to the mirror, I am Fiona Well, who could relate with this? A plump woman with hair tied behind and usually on her house clothes splattered with baby foods. Jaja. I may not be that rounded but that's where I am going. It's as if the complete definition of ugly. It's because you can't even pamper yourself as your hands are full in pampering your kids. I even cut my hair and it is the shortest I ever had. With my hair short I don't need to comb it and even when I was wearing my hair long I didn't even bother to comb it. I just wake in the morning and straight to the bathroom then tie my hair before cooking. Additionally, a mother's mouth is like a trash can, lol. Just imagine you having to eat what's left on each kid's plate even when you're already full. And, having to consume foods while it's still good rather than letting it go to waste. Sayang kase. ****Closing thought**** Having kids that needs our full attention that within the trip caused us to feel stress, depress, suffer anguish and exhaustion. It brings the best and worst of us. It is hard because above all we need to be well for them as we are their strength as them to us. We can't pause and no resign option; nonetheless, we don't get paid and the smiles of our kids after a long day is enough to ease our weariness. There are days that you want to be gone even for just a couple of hours but truth be told, you can't. Lucky are those who have hands-on partners who could take the baby and kids and tell you to have some time with your friends or just have your me-time. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and cheer yourself up, "I am fine and doing just great." The moment you become a mother then you can relate to living a Disney life😁. Happily ever after doesn't exist in reality but it's the tough times that will strengthen a parent especially a mother. It is the most challenging job in the face of Mother Earth but the most rewarding after. _____ Dec.9,22 it's supposed to be posted but then was unable to. It's a long read, eh? Jeje sorry it's not a seasonal content for this season *****Z_Graeden*****

For the First Time in a Long Time The provincial plaza in town is one or I think the most favourite *tambayan* in the place. It is frequented by young and old at any time of the day which makes it more the livelier. Due to the place's different hotness that it's relaxing to sit by the shades at the basketball court, in the shade at the skating area or under the trees. The cool breeze and pleasant ambiance makes it a more better place to meet and greet. Because it is located near the college, the primary and the high school that you can see mostly students in groups playing, chatting and some even are doing their school works. One place where children gather to play is the children's park. However it was closed to public in the later months of 2019 for renovations. I must say that it was neglected for the past years because it's not a comfortable place to sit with kids when it is hot. It gets a bit flooded after a heavy downpour and puddles of water remain at the foot of the slides, the seasaw, and some other areas. When I was younger, me and my friend would ride a jeepney just to go play at the park and roam around the plaza without our parents knowledge jaja... And the last time I went there was when my eldest was three year old. That was the only time I brought him to the children's park. During the pandemic the plaza was gradually beautified that the stairs at the main entrance was painted the colors of the rainbow and even the concrete part outside the multipurpose building. I wasn't able to have pictures of it because I don't have time to roam around with little kids in tow. The monument of Dr. Jose Rizal was also enhanced from its old, dull appearance. Likewise, the old fountain was replaced by an "Ato" wherein christmas lights were installed last December. Thankfully, the children's park was finally done and opened to the public on the 3rd or 4th week of October. Since then it was always full of children with their parents or whoever brought them there. In one check-up of my two kids I brought them there after we were done with the doctor in a private clinic. Graeden who is three years old have had enjoyed the slides and the swing. However, he was afraid of the elephant slide which is a bit steep. The park before has slides, swings, monkey bar, seasaws and the merry-go-round which caused the death of a two-year old boy after falling from it. If I am not mistaken even the swing had caused an accident when an older child lost his grip of it and was thrown over. That was because he had been swinging forcefully and too fast and going higher. Today, most are slides that is friendly even to little kids because it's not like the old slides which just go directly down and a tendency that a child will fall to the ground after sliding down. Superheroes the kids love were also installed, two minions and hello kitty. A comfort room was also built. There were additional shades, concrete tables and benches at the sides. Last Saturday, the kids keep bugging me in going to town to also play at the park. That is why I brought them there after doing the laundry even if I don't have a budget. Because it was Saturday and it was cloudy that it was crowded as expected. Thankfully, the kids knew how to observe safety as there were some kids who like to own the place. You can also see some parents patiently encouraging their child who is afraid to slide through although they already climbed the stairs. And I tell you they are dads, sana all n lang ako 😄. While sitting with the baby in a bench watching and looking for a child after the other because they get out of sight and gets mixed with the other kids I was observing. Some kids are not into playing and would bump into some random other kids with an unfriendly face. Some are already throwing tantrums. And the place gets dusty as kids run about. Closing thought Mountain Province's capital town is now becoming a little city that it is the center of trade, industry and education. Not only the town's people but everyone who came here to reside for the said purpose has a child or children who needs a place to play. Thankfully, the children's need of physical and outdoor play was eventually given attention. It is where they bond with their family totally away from digital world. It is a place they develop some skills needed. In short, it is essential for growth development not only on physical aspect but mentally, emotionally and socially. Hopefully additional improvements will be done at the plaza like having a giant Christmas tree to make use of the giant post will also be made during the yuletide season. 11-22-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

How I Handle Separation Anxiety of my Kids `11-19-22` I have been doing online selling since January and for that I have to leave the kids frequently to do the transactions. My kids are only age 9 the oldest, the second just turned 6 on October while the third one was 2 who just turned 3 last May and the baby was only 6 months old who turned one year old last July. For a parent like me with little kids one thing that I need to deal is their separation anxiety. It's not only upsetting for a parent but to the child as well. The hardest one I deal with is my third child. He is afraid to be left behind that's why when the baby is asleep or my parents took over to baby sit him, he would come and sit on my lap while I am listing or packing parcels. He would also follow me everywhere I go that he guards the bathroom door when I use it. The baby, on the other hand is used to being baby sit by my mom and dad and even their uncles that's why he can be handled easily. But have you ever wondered why babies and lil kids go with their mom even when using the bathroom? They scurried all over the room crying when mom's not in sight? That is them being anxious that their mom/dad would be gone forever. They don't understand time. No way they can understand that someone particularly their parent will be gone in just a minute. Have you wondered why a toddler who's just new to preschool wouldn't like to be left inside the room? Yes, that is also separation anxiety. As I have observed with my preschooler since our house is a lil distance from the daycare center that he is too clingy. He doesn't like to be left so me and the baby had to sit in with him for three straight days. **Here's the things that I do to ease their anxiousness** whenever I leave for some errands in town and for my preschooler to be confident enough in going to school. The baby, on the other hand would cry and be clingy at times whenever he is aware that I am leaving but my mother would easily pacify him by diverting his attention to other things. I tell my three year old that I will be going to town for some errands. I will hug and cuddle him if he ask me to. Then, I will immediately leave without turning back or looking back. This way he won't change thought and cry to be brought along. Thus, I have to make sure that I have prepared everything and bring whatever is needed to be brought to avoid going back to take it. Communication. Always talking to them will help them gradually understand what you're doing. They were getting used to our routine and that I have always been telling them that every now and then they will be left with their grandparents so that I will have something to buy for their needs, their things and foods they like. They too will be leaving me for a short time to attend school. As expected they have little to no clinginess except for other times. I gained their trust that I will be back whenever I leave. As for my preschooler who is just a first timer attending daycare, I always talk to him so that he will be prepared. As mentioned earlier, we sat with him inside the daycare center for three days. But the following day, I was amazed that he said he will tag along with his siblings. Therefore, I instructed their *kuya* to drop him at their room and to gently talk with him. Since then he always leave with them when they're going to school. But in one condition,😁 I am to wait for him at the waiting shed and pick him up just as he said. That is our agreement. But one time, I was busy with laundry while the baby is asleep that I lost track of time. He came home alone with a crease across his face, he told me I lied and that he won't go to school again. That's the first and the last I didn't pick him up though I have assured him that there will be time that I will be late in picking him up. That's not to destroy his trust. **Is it normal for kids to be anxious?** Yes. Most especially that they can't express their feelings that they will just cry it out or have that occasional clinginess. This separation anxiety is a normal mental development of children that starts at four months old. In our term, it is "*inmeneng or in-imatun*" wherein the baby is becoming aware of who their mother or father is. They will cry when somebody tries to carry them aside from their mom. This so-called mental development takes place until the child is six years old. This may be the reason why even kindergarten age seems to be afraid or isn't confident enough to enter the room without their mom assuring him that it is okay. Occasionally, my three year old preschooler won't join his siblings in going to school so what I do is to just let him be until he is mentally ready. I will just wait for him to get himself dress if he really wants to, no need to persuade him. Because there are really times that he needs to be reassured. He just need to be held and some cuddling. Closing thought Children go through different phases of development milestone while growing. We have to be there every step of their way guiding them and reassuring them that it's okay to feel how they feel and one of them is feeling anxious. Explain to them that there's nothing wrong feeling about it or feeling afraid. Rest assured that you are there when they ask for help about it.

Back To Physical Classes August 22 of this year when face-to-face classes officially resumed. I could see the mix emotions my children feel as they prepare for school that day. On the other hand, I feel anxious in thinking how would their first day be like. Would they be shy with their new classmates and how would their teachers welcome and introduce them to the class as new student of the school since they are new to this school? Fortunately, the kids only need a little adjustment because it's just the same barangay just a new environment. They attend church services here that's why they already were acquinted to other kids especially my first born whom I can tell is an extrovert. His little sister, on the other hand is a bit introvert who doesn't like crowd very much. As I have observed, she would leave her playmates when they're already more than four and come home to read her story books. So back with school. On the very first day, I let my kids go to school on their own. I want them to feel confident to face their teachers and classmates. My first born named Ryleon is in grade 1V while his little sister, Zion is in first grade. The third one is only three years old and is a pre-schooler. However, their daycare class only started on September 5. From day 1 to present, I always asked the kids how their day went, how are they doing in school. I don't expect much of them as I don't want to pressure them also because they're only slowly getting back the traditional way of learning after the pandemic. Ryleon who is in fourth grade should already know how to take down notes. But as I go through his notebooks I was a li'l bit disappointed to see only few words written. But as the days progress, I noticed there are some improvement. I keep reminding him to learn to jot down notes so that he has something to read at home. Sometimes they bring home some modules which I can help him with. Zion, the shy girl of mine is the one who loves to go over her notes after we're done eating dinner. Just like any typical first grader her writing pad is full of *"I can't understand things.*" Her notebooks were jumbled with mix subjects which I have to keep reminding her that 1 subject for each notebook. And the only thing she keeps in one notebook is mathematics. Nonetheless as weeks go by, she started to keep her notes to which notebook it should be. I noticed that some of her papers weren't checked which I feel a little bad. Why? Since, they're only starting classes that I think every work they do should be checked by the teacher to motivate them. Because tell me, everyone of us started as a child and seeing your work with a check mark is a heavenly feeling already. However, I still encourage my daughter to listen to the teacher and asked what she didn't understand. But I know her as the shy type and won't dare ask her teacher. So whenever, they get home I need to pay attention especially to her. I have to encourage and motivate her more to bring her confidence out. On one of their father's visits he asked our daughter how was school. Zion told him that her teacher knocked her head with his fingers which made me puzzled. Then he asked her why but my daughter just smilingly said she don't know. I get in to their conversation and told her that if her teacher again would do it she must tell me. I assured her that I won't get mad at her. This made me think "why does my girl hide something from me especially that it was from her teacher?" This made me compare the teachers from the other school they previously attended and here. As this sitio or purok is a small one that the number of pupils is only half or a quarter compared to the number of pupils on the other school. They should be more accomodated. In fact, my daughter is more studious than her brother. She loves to go over her notes that's why I also love to join her. There are things she doesn't understand at first but when we go through it, she will. Honestly, many times I lost control of my temper that I just burst out like a thunder. If you read like it just seems so easy for me to handle little kids semi-singly, it's the contrary. Sometimes, I can't sleep at night thinking over what, how and why I just yell or got mad at the kids. I am even gaining weight due to lack of sleep, less physical activities and sometimes eating more often, it's stress eating. I am hoping that as the days go by I will have more patience because the kids are growing, they won't be kids forever. I won't blame my temper on our situation but to myself alone. I don't want the kids' feelings go farther due to my losing control of my temper. I want them to be my friends and someone they can talk to especially their problems in school and other stuffs. **Closing thought** Thanking that we are already getting back to normal gradually. The face-to-face classes is already being enjoyed by our kids and hopefully other extracurricular activities will be back soon so that they will have other things to learn and get busy with instead of playing their mobile phones during their free time. My kids though have no gadgets but the other kids does that's why there should be something to distract them from mobile phones. _______**💜**_______ This was drafted some weeks ago together with my last article and I have to do some editing today. The first grading period examination was done and the kids were looking forward to the holidays. They deserve some break also. Unfortunately, the holiday was spent indoors due to the inclement weather. It is already the second grading period and the kids are fully adjusted. 11-9-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

Back To Where Ones Placenta Was Burried "She wants to go back to where her umbilical cord was burried," said the lady while exiting the jeepney. It's been three months that is when we moved in. The old house, occupied and inherited by our eldest and her family is where we grew up. Whilst the house we are staying was built when we're young. It is through the sacrifices of our parents that they were able to build a new one though earning money those days is harder than today. Moving from one place to another is quite hard especially for the kids although where we stayed before is just in another sitio. It's just some 10-15 minutes walk for an adult but with kids, it would take 30-40 minutes. Before we moved in we stayed at our parents place in town during the school vacation. And even before that, we, except for the two older school kids and their father, stayed in town so that I may be able to do transactions on my small buy-and-sell venture easier. On our first few weeks here, the kids experienced being homesick and separation anxiety. They kept asking their friends. They said they didn't want to study here but at their old school. They badly wanted to see our house which is why I had to make explanations they easily can understand without hurting their feelings. The kids easily get along with the other kids here aside from their cousins although I can sense that my daughter is a bit shy. I can't help but compare our current place to my husband's. I think it is a normal thing. I have listed some which I observed the most. **Along the highway vs. down the road** I have to keep reminding my kids when walking along the road and crossing the street to and from school. The two older kids are aware of cars passing by and thankfully there are policemen stationed at the junction just near the school where they can guide the school children in crossing the street. We are currently near the highway, unlike our old place that we need to walk some distance up to the street whenever we go to town. For one with a baby and a toddler in tow, you ended up all sweat, tired and thirsty when you reach the road. However staying near the highway also has its cons. My toddler of three went walking with another kid who said they will go see his aunt but they ended up to the bridge which is a far distance. Thankfully, the other kid's granddad was able to follow them after making rounds in the community and asking about but he saw them nowhere. Eventually he decided to go to Maggang bridge where he saw them poking their heads out the bridge and gleefully enjoying the view of the river below. **Excellent network connection vs poor** Most often, if you have noticed that I only get to check on your articles two to three times a week and got to post one article in a week. It is due to the very poor network connection that we have here. Neither globe nor smart network is good enough to cater my needs in online selling and accesing readcash. I am using PLDT wifi but it's just the same and I can only afford 50 pesos a week for my wifi which is only good for three days. My data connection in our old place is even better compared to using a wifi here. And 70 pesos for my data connection is good for seven days time. It's really a pain in the *ss since I can't interact whenever I wanted too. **More spacious vs two rooms** I must admit that our old place has only two rooms though the lot the house is standing will make for a bigger one. The bathroom/comfort room is however separated. The house we currently are in has 3 bedrooms upstairs. That's why the kids has their own room but they prefer to sleep with us especially this cold season. They have more space to play downstairs although it is where the living room is. That's why it's very unorganize and toys are everywhere everytime someone drops our house. Well, these are the ones on top of my list because it's just the same barangay but only a different sitio. Additionally, the daycare center in our old place is just some couples of meters away from our house that's why my two older kids who attended it went to school without being accompanied. On the contrary, the daycare center here is currently located in one room of the elementary school which is more or less 70 meters away from our house. And that I had to accompany my toddler in going to and pick him up after especially that they had to walk in the street. Back with the title, it only mean going back to one's birth place. It's an idiomatic expression here in our place. It's actually "where his/her umbilical cord was buried". However, umbilical cord and the placenta go together so it's just the same. I was inspired to write this one because of the conversation that took place when one time I went to town for some errands. Because our previous place is just on the other side of the barangay thus passengers from both sides ride the same jeepneys. So chismis will spread like wildfire inside the jeepney which sometimes I don't like because as if the person concerned is not present or is it the social status of a person concerned in their chismis is not someone they can show respect to that they weren't able to shut their rude mouth? I wasn't wearing a facemask that time to atleast hide the redness of my face from shame that I was the center of conversation. That idiom at the introduction was told by a lady whose cut of tongue I really don't like that she even spew it in a sarcastic tone. However, it didn't bother me much but I just don't like the way she told it. Nonetheless, with people like me transferring from one address to the other, surely, you can't help but compare the place and people. At the end of the day, we have to adjust and fit in to the new one. 11-6-22 Z_Graeden

The Heavens Cry As it Pours Its Blessings Brrrr.... It's cold. I would love to grab a cup of coffee while typing this (Oct. 29) but I am not into it knowing that it will just trigger my insomnia. It's already quarter to nine in the evening and the kids are already asleep. I keep yawning actually and the sound of the heavy rain outside is lulling me to sleep. But thoughts are occupying my mind shoeing away my drowsiness. The low pressure on October 27 eventually turned from tropical depression to severe tropical storm which affects our place. It is causing rainfall induced landslides to most roads in our town, thus, traveling at night is highly prohibited to avoid accidents especially that the rain and wind are a bit strong. So yesterday (Oct. 28), I planned of doing the laundry but after having a shower I really felt very cold which is something I knew is unusual of me. It is because it's what I do before washing clothes and I will feel energized after. Thankfully, the kids' father dropped by to bring some legumes from his mother's harvest that's why I won't be bothered and would enjoy taking a bath while he watches over the baby. Because every time I use the bathroom, the baby will be crying until I will emerge from it causing me to rush taking a bath. When the clock strikes 11 my husband go back to his place and help with the preparation of the upcoming wedding on Saturday, October 29. He came back after some minutes and went straight to the sink and grabbed a cup to drink water. That's when he said someone just died and they are bringing him home. I was left in deep thought when he said the name. How come a healthy man die just in an instant, I asked inside of me. Then I asked why. He replied that the guy was about to wash clothes or currently washing it when he was accidentally grounded or shocked by electricity. I keep asking how was it done which he also couldn't answer. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival. My heart pours out of the news. Later did I learn that it was in their porch where he will be doing the laundry. There's a lil puddle of water in there. He even don't have slippers on. The washing machine won't function so he took off the plug and grabbed a screw driver to fix the extension which. He perhaps forgot to remove the plugged extension wire to the main socket so that when he opened it did it cause the accident. Thankfully, their neighbor happen to see him at that very moment and he was immediately rushed to the hospital. It's very heartbreaking that a guy who survived his childhood sickness would eventually surrender his life so early. He was a very kind and helpful boy who knew nothing but smile to anyone he met. He was a very sickly boy who nearly died in his childhood. They changed his name from Bryan in to what he was known today and with that he slowly started to be fine. May he rest in peace. It's like the heavens mourn his untimely departure as it rains heavier and the wind blows harder On the other hand, we declare blessings be showered just like the heavy downpour to the newly weds who are currently celebrating this very special day of theirs as they have sworn their vows before God and the people. **End thought** Today, we are well and good, talking, laughing and going about our daily life. But in a snap we could be gone. Nobody knows what the future holds. And for that, we keep safe and observe precautionary measures. Ps. Me and the kids just stayed indoors after my oldest came back from the wedding carrying food in a plastic wrap. He was wet although he used umbrella but the heavy rains made puddles of water along the way that splash back when stepped on. I made some simple soup to warm our throats then they had a long nap. They made themselves busy with papers, pencils and crayons after they woke up late in the afternoon Pss or is it pps? It's Sunday and still we stayed indoors because it's still pouring. Their was power outage during the night until this late morning. Water is also gone and I have to fetch rain water for the bathroom and for the sink. For the food, I have to fetch a pail of water at a li'l distance where the water supply is still available. Thankfully, electricity and water were restored simultaneously at near noon. The storm, however, had caused some minor damages in our community. Thankfully, everyone's safe. As of today, Tuesday, the sun is shining brightly. Happy Halloween. 11-1-22 Z_Graeden

Paang: A Healing Rite and Swine Problem Cultures and traditions are never forgotten when it is practiced every now and then. As one who belongs to a tribe there are rites being performed when a certain disease or terrible disaster strikes one person or the whole community is affected. Yes, we are christians but the elders of the village said that such occurrences strike because their gods were already forgotten, thus, some rites weren't being performed in the past. And the outcome of it is the resentment of the ***anito*** or anitoes. Just for example, the village had experienced terrible crop loss for almost three years I think. The villagers primarily grow heirloom rice once a year during the crop rotation and the harvests were devastating during those three years. Rice crops were nearly or totally eaten by pests, rats to be specific. It was only these past two years and the present harvest when the fields were bountiful. So, during those lost of crops that the elders of the village, mainly the elderly men of the Ato came to realize that one practice was forgotten. It is when it was performed and observed that the crops began to go back the way it was. Another one is a rite performed when a road accident happen that includes the demised of many. Then, when the pandemic struk the village there's also a rite performed for it. Traditionally, it is like to appease the gods, ask for its' protection, drive the evil spirits causing trouble off of the place or other related matters. There is also a thanksgiving each year but only the members of the ***Ato*** can participate. Ato, is a council place in the old days. It is where the *umato*- members come to perform the rites. Nonetheless, every household is collected a part of palay or milled rice. While each rite has its own name, today's article is called "****Paang****." I won't go into details on how it is done because I lack knowledge about it. If only my maternal grandfather who was a chief of an Ato is still alive then I will have someone to narrate how it is done. ***Paang*** is for the village's cleansing and healing. Who would've thought that the village would not be spared from ASF- the airborne swine disease that could inflict and kill pigs. Our village was free from ASF even during the pandemic but the hog raisers problem was on how to dispose it since lockdown was still imposed. Buyers and butchers in town were lined up with pigs to butcher. However, it's such a relief when buyers came to import pigs from our locality to the city. It is of course with certificate signed by the barangay captain that we are free from any pest. Live weight price begun to increase and it's hog raiser-buyer friendly due to the fact that hog feeds are increasing by the day. Even piglets cost 5000 php each. Unfortunately, this past month many pigs were struck by the pest. Many burried their hogs that are mostly mother pigs and those that are big enough to be dispose. Because of the good price for live weight that many had their own mother pigs for breeding which means they either sell the piglets or raise it. This led to the ballooning of the number of swine. This incidence greatly affected the supply and demamd in the market which affected the hog growers the most but is very beneficial to the butchers because the price of pork is still high but they buy pigs at a very cheap price. The increasing number of pigs getting sick and dying alarmed us. This caused the elders of the Ato to perform the "Paang." It was done on the first two days of this month. The rite was accompanied and observed with two days "***tengaw***" as it is being performed. It means the villagers in the said barangay is not allowed to go in or out of the community within those two days time. No one is also allowed to attend the fields. Just a complete stay in the community. Even visitors are not allowed to enter the community during those time. Coincidentally or whatever it may be called, the number of sick and dying pigs begun to decline. **Closing thoughts** We may be living in the digital world but because our elders who knew that certain things should be done for the betterment of the majority, then it must be done. We younger generations only respect it because it is what or how they do it in the olden days as part of their living. Needless to say we found it effective. Or is it just coincidence? So whenever the elders of the Ato perform some rites to cleanse, heal, protect human race and livestock and crops, and thanksgiving then the entire barangay must abide. Because when one was caught exiting the community in broad daylight during the tengaw then that someone will be fined. Ps. As I was typing (Oct.16) I have learned that one of my neighbor's pig is ill. It just gave birth during the night which the owner unfortunately forgot that it is its due to give birth. So, the following morning she only saw that it self delivered its piglets but somehow can't manage to stand to eat. Hopefully it will get better... 10-20-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

Don't be Insensitive. Show Some Respect, Care and Love How much pain do you feel when someone doesn't consider your feelings yet you have to keep mum? It is because you're not only hurting but you're tired of trying to explain your side yet it seems no one cares to understand. Sometimes you even feel like being mocked by someone who tries to joke of the situation you're in. Most often than not, people are just not sensitive enough to think of how you feel when they ask about your situation. There are many situations wherein one shows his insensitivity rather than showing respect and asking in a nicer way. Though one's intension is a good one but delivered a direct question rather than saying it nicely, the receiver will be hurt. This article is about being insensitive or be sensitive to couples who doesn't have a child given the fact that they have been married or living together for years not to mention some have been for a decade. I personally knew more than ten couples who have been married for more than five years and still childless. Three of them are my friends in elementary while the others are older than me and some younger. One of my friend and her ex-husband were married for 5 years but didn't have a child. However, they adopted a beautiful girl because there was no hope for the wife to get pregnant, she has PCOS. The guy eventually cheated and impregnated another woman whom he is living right now. It's mind blowing to hear of such. It's not the girl with a difference but the guy himself. There are others out their who have been together for more than 10 years and despite being childless didn't dare do anything to cheat on their partners or spouses. On the other hand, the other friend of mine and her hubby are also trying their best to conceive. They've been married for over seven years now. I don't ask them about their situation but when they message me I just allow them to open up. Because I know couples like them have been asked the nth time why they don't have a child after a couple of years being married. It hurts to see your friend or another woman badly wanting to conceive that's why I don't asked them. I used to asked others who are still childless but as I mature in age and already had 2 children, I dare not asked something like it because I came to realise it's being insensitive. Nonetheless, no matter how down I am I still try my best to uplift their spirit. There are times that we encounter some older people or even those who are with the same age as ours who can asked directly a married woman or man why they don't have a child yet. Not even considering that it is a public place or gatherings. I can only tell inside of me how shameless a person like that could be. How insensitive he/she is not thinking of a better way to ask and it should be in a better place, not just anywhere where "marites" loves to chime in. "*When do you plan to have a baby?*" And if they already had an older kid, "*When do you plan to have another one?*" Is one of the nicer questions you could asked in conversing with someone who is in a situation like this. We know that couples don't get pregnant right away after getting married. Some have other plans and having a baby is not their top priority at the moment. With a question like that there is respect and care. It also allows the other party to get comfortable with the conversation and open up what's bothering them. Don't asked them, "You're not pregnant yet?" "What are you waiting for?" "Are you weak (in bed)?" "You keep working and getting richer, who would inherit it when you don't have a child?" "So you're just like your aunt who is barren or you're no different with your sterile uncle?" These are some of the questions couples with no child have to deal with everyday. But do you think there is respect in those kind of questioning? You don't know how much pain they feel especially when they see their friends or relatives have bunch of kids. You don't know their struggles. You don't see their tears behind close doors. There are those who have hormonal imbalances, had multiple miscarriages and some have to undergo operations because of other differences in their reproductive organs. Couples especially the women even cry and ask the heavens why they don't have at least one child. They question themselves of their ability of being a mother-to-be, are they not good enough to take care of a child? Why or how other women could dump their newborn baby heartlessly? Why it wasnt given to them to love, cherish, protect and care instead? Even so, they still express their optimism that one day their heartaches will be healed. Yes, I know these because my friends also told it. It is heartbreaking. If only I could exchange my reproductive organs with theirs, then I could've done so a long time ago. All I could do is pray for them that their hearts desire to have a child will be granted in time. **Closing thoughts** I was thinking, is there a link to the upgrading of technologies and our exposure to radiation with situation like this? I mean, just look at young couples who are healthy but are struggling to get pregnant. Not only one couple but you can see lots of them. Some even try IVF but also failed. I also personally knew one couple who have gone thru it but had to try thrice before it succeeded. Anyhow, this is a reminder that we have to be more cautious of our words because we may hurt someone even if it wasn't our intention. It's offending, too. The world is filled with lots of chaos. Everyone has his own struggle and inner battles and you might not know you are adding salt to the wound. Just like someone, don't give unsolicited advices because it is not needed. Let's try to be more mindful of our words to show respect, care and love. Not an insensitive idiot 10-14-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

Untitled I was sitting by the window trying to get either a little of a better data connection or the wifi when all of a sudden I was engulfed with cold breeze that made my hairs stand at their ends. I just feel my tears stream down on their own on my face. I asked a big "***why***?" My heart aches as I think of them young souls. Honestly, I can't help my tears from falling, really. I started to sniffle and wipe it off with my sweater. It's cold, as of 9am Thursday morning while I am writing this. The sun shines occasionally. The past night had rained cats and dogs and it's nice to stay in bed warm and dry but I had to wake up early to prepare breakfast and heat water for the kids' bath. As I sit by the window after laying the baby in bed after he slept, I was scrolling through facebook when a "my day" popped in. "*Another young man ended his life,*" it read. "**WHY**?" Kept ringing in my mind. It just hurts so much. It's so hard to think of these younger generations so vulnerable. Just last week, a young man aged 23 claimed his life. A husband to a beautiful young lady and father of a very young boy. Coincidentally, the wife is a Facebook friend of mine which I never knew. They're actually from town that's why I don't know neither of the husband nor the wife. I added on my Facebook account anyone who is from near town for my online selling, perhaps that's why the girl is my friend. I saw what she posted on her account saying in vernacular, "*I told you to wait for me so that we will talk. It just hurts so much which is too unbearable. I can't accept the fact that you're gone*." I don't know what's the real reason behind but later did I learn that the young boy, their child was admitted at the hospital that's why they can't talk personally. I don't even know if the screenschot of their videocall was earlier that night because at dawn the young man was already gone. I knew neither of the young man last week and today but the impact was so dense. I can see my younger self in them. I have a very strict father that I almost feel like choking. I don't even like going home but am afraid of his iron hands, sya ang batas at wla kang karapatan, ganurn. The result is a routine of school-home only. I became rebellious, I ended up suicidal. Then later I ran away and ended up to a toxic marrital relationship which escalated my mind clouded by dark thoughts. My anxiety and depression became worst especially whenever I am with child and after giving birth. In my younger years whenever I wanted to end things up the thought of my family mourning for me weighs more than killing myself. All I can do is write everything in my journal. All the emotions, feelings of hatred towards my surroundings, anger, fears, ambitions, poems of pain and inspiration, and everything I can write. When I feel better, I will just crumple the papers I used to write in and tore it to little pieces. Then submerge it to the canal and let the water carry it away. It's because I don't have any close friend and I trust no one. I just say to myself "It will pass, self. Just let the storm rage on, then it will be gone." The reason why we transferred here to my birthplace is because I can't stand being tortured mentally and emotionally anymore. I cried infront of my parents that I may not be able to bear anymore pain. I don't want my kids to grow up without a mother. Honestly, I wanted to give up. But when I look at my precious kids I can't tolerate the pain they might feel while growing without a mother. When my kids are sleeping at night I just watch them while whispering that I will be strong. I won't leave them no matter how stubborn or hardheaded they might be sometimes. I just can't live losing any of the four. I might not be the best mother but I hope that I can and will guide them, help them up whenever they fall. Today, they're just little kids and in no time they'll be on their teenage years which is challenging to both child and parents. I may be in a state of depression but I am fighting. I may be broken and hope one day be able to pick the pieces again. I am not the strongest woman out their, am just a mother trying to stand and trying to see any glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. I may feel weak sometimes but trying not to be vulnerable to just be consumed by my selfishness. Closing thoughts All I can say is reach out to our kids when we see them acting not themselves anymore. Be their friend though their friends will be their world during teen years. Let them feel they are loved, they have someone to turn to and that every problem has a solution. Let them learn that struggles and pain is a tool to harness their strength to be able to withstand the upcoming storms as they face the real world. Today's generation is way too different from ours. They are easily being influenced by the digital world. Therefore, we have to guide them, set limitations gently but firmly and allow them to know God and his words. *It's supposed to be posted on Friday but the net connection won't cooperate*. 10-2-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

Am-among 2022 `Garbed in their traditional colorful native attire, men in their "bahag" and women in their tapis, they danced like the birds as they marched to the sounds of the gongs while presenting their traditions and cultures. The men has with them their gongs, their spears and bolos glistening at their waist as it comes across the rays of the sun. The older men masculinely show off their tattoed bodies, their headdresses colorful and on their necks hang their necklaces of fangs of wild boars that portray them courage and bravery during their youths. The women, likewise are gracefully dancing with the beat with their "among" on their heads. Their arms are intricately tattoed that most likely indicate beauty.` Those were the days, the prepandemic times when festivals knew no restrictions. However, the Bontoc villagers and its barangays again come in one to celebrate the **18th Am-among festival**. Due to restrictions that activities are lessened and one of them is the presentation of each barangay or zonal area of their cultures and traditions thru street dancing as what I have mentioned above. Nonetheless, it's still a festive, joyous day which shows the resilience of the Igorot people in times of adversities. Am-among festival is held every 16th day of September in celebration of the Mountain Province's capital town, Bontoc's Founding Anniversary. And this year is it's 114th year. "**Bontoc @114: Dynamic and Proactive Towards Recovery and Prosperity**." This is the year's Am-among theme. A civic parade, thanksgiving mass, program, indigenous games, concert, sports festival, and the week-long trade fair are the activities during the said occasion. Led by the province's congressman and town's mayor, they won the tug of war against the PNP. Tug of war is an indigenous game which is played among children and the elderly. It is mostly enjoyed along the river banks of the Chico river during the olden times. ***Pattong***- the playing of the gongs. "***Am-among***", by the way is a a colloquial word, a native word rather which means "***to come together***". It is by coming together or "*****am-among or maam-among*****" wherein bonds and family ties are strengthened. During our childhood days, when my paternal grandparents were still alive I could remember that each family brings in whatever they have gathered in their crops and chicken to their parents house. It is a weeklong occasion if I'm not mistaken that's why they share and dine joyously with what they have brought in. The famous ***tapey-*** rice wine is always present. There was a day within the weeklong family feast where the men go the river to catch fish we call "gadiw". Women cook glutinous rice like "*patupat*" or what we famously knew as suman. ________________________ Hmmm... It's been a while folks. And I can't help but think how're you all farin'. I've been thru a boatload of dilemma and currently still is that makes my ever chaotic world all the worse. Hope it won't get worst. Anyhow, those challenges we encounter measure the strength and unleashes out our capabilities, abilities and whatever ies there is which is still hidden within. I've checked out here one time and learned some changes. Some upgrade, I should say in noise. Sadly I wasn't able to try it yet due to my very very slow net connection in my current location. Sometimes, I use wifi but because I lack the budget to provide me a good supply of data for a longer span of time that's why I can only check on my online selling once in a while... I do have written articles but I don't think it's worth posting due to the fact that it was outdated. Honestly, some were written just after the national election and that was some months ago wherein I was still active in here. *If you have gone this far reading my article, I thank you..* All photos credits to the rightful owner 9-22-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

Sick for a Week From trying to finish up my drafts to tending my sick baby to buying and selling, and to getting my thoughts in one piece. This week is just a total mess. As soon as I have posted my last article I went offline from here. Yes. I didn't check after posting, neither did I glance at my notification to at least reply on comments of my article. Well, do know how that feels? I feel guilty most especially that sometimes I read lines like writing, posting and leaving or going inactive just for the sake of tips. One reason why I am here is because of the tips. It's not easy being a mother of four who's trying to make ends meet with my earnings in buying and selling products online. Another one is this platform is somewhat like a home to me. It never close its doors whenever I need to come back. I find my readcash family always ready to listen with whatever I have most especially my dramas. They do it without judgement. Thanks to you. Yes, it's not the first time I have written something like this but let me just pour some from my overflowing bitter glass of juice. If you have read my article of exercising my right of suffrage, I have mentioned there that I have my baby checked up at a clinic. On Saturday night while we were peacefully sleeping, I could feel that there's something warm on the side of my belly and when I was fully awake I checked on my baby's hand which is on the side of my tummy. It was really warm, then I checked on his forehead. That was the time I realized he has fever. I scurried on the medicine cabinet to look for paracetamol but there was none. Next, is the refrigerator but it was the same. I tried to think where I have put the one I bought last time then I realized it was on my parents house. I was left with no choice but to give hime a tepid bath. Election came, Monday. This was the time I brought my son to town for a check up but was disappointed that there was no doctors for OPD, it's because it was holiday. Nonetheless, after having contacted a pedia who I used to have my kids checked when they aren't well, the doctor agreed to meet me at her clinic just to check on my baby. She prescribed an antibiotics after but she advised me that it is normal for baby's to have fever especially at that stage. It may be due to teething, growth spurt and other factors. Thus, the antibiotics she prescribed should only be given to the baby after 24 hours of persistent fever. Tuesday, I had to give the baby due to persistent fever and he had noticeable loss of weight, eyes sunk, dry skin. He also had diarrhea. I can't stand seeing him like that so I brought him at my parents house in town. I am afraid to bring him at the hospital because for sure he will get admitted. I asked them to buy fruits and pedialyte. I tried to feed him the blended banana and watermelon. Then made him drink the apple juice extract and the pedialyte. He's getting better and no more fever but he's still so fussy and kept crying. Rashes or prickly heat rash were all over his body. That was also the time I noticed white patches inside his mouth. It's oral thrush. I then again rushed him to another clinic because the clinic I brought him first was closed. My dad had to go to the fields to collect some guava leaves for the baby's bath. That's what I used to bathe my baby early morning and early evening so that he may sleep better at night. Two days of bathing with boiled guava leaves and his rashes were gone He was again prescribed with an oral gel which is to be aplied with cotton swab. As of today, he's back to his old self. He gained his weight back and keeps playing all the time and can't be held for a long time. His giggles fills the house and it was everyone's joy. His innocent laughs' just so contagious and irresistible. This nonsensical article ends here and I thank those who are still supporting me through silently reading, liking or commenting. *This article should be posted on Friday but due to mom's duty and online selling that I can't find the right time to get it published. Two articles should be posted but the other will be posted soon though it gets a little outdated*. Thank you. 5-17-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

Exercising my Right of Suffrage Did everyone, Filipino citizen, of legal age and registered voter has practiced their right to vote yesterday? Being in a country of republic-democratic form of government we are privileged to choose a leader, who, according to our choice and someone we know can lead us through the next six years. Six years is either a short term for a good governance or a long one if it's the contrary. Choosing someone, a president especially, who is the head of the state and the head of government is I think a much complicated decision. It's because we have to choose someone who can lead us through the next six years and that we have to consider some factors in choosing who's that gonna be. While the Executive branch, president has a six-year term so does the legislative, senators specifically. The district and sectoral representatives has a three-year term and can be re-elected but not eligible to run for a fourth consecutive term. This year's election was my third time to vote for president. I was seventeen years old when I registered as a voter. I was not supposed to be registered yet that time but because I will be turning 18 before the election that I was accepted to register. Yesterday, I woke up early. Since it's May it's expected to be hot even in the early morning. So I took a bath and prepared the kids' breakfast. The baby was also awake so I and my husband brought him at the school where election in our barangay is always held. I think it was exactly 7 in the morning when we arrived. I had to check on the lists which precinct where my name is. Thankfully, there was no voters lined up yet at that precinct unlike the others. It's because it was still early and voters at that precinct were from the other farther sitio and perhaps they're still on their way. I was met by one of the watchers I think when I entered the triage and ushered me to the room where I will be casting my votes. I passed the baby to my hubby then. There was an empty desk so I was immediately admitted in. I felt my anxiety taking over as I took my sit and held the pen in my dominant hand. Well, I had to carefully shade just like when taking an exam. In a matter of minutes I am done. After getting the ballot in the VCM I took the receipt from the person in charge as he handed it to me after cutting it. Just like the others I carefully checked on the receipt if it produced the ones I voted. Lastly, my right pointer finger was applied with indelible ink. Done. I took my baby in town for a supposed check-up because he was having an on-and-off fever but I was disappointed because I was told at the hospital to get him admitted since it was holiday and there's no outpatient check-ups. But I refused, thus, I was told to try private clinics. I even tried to talk to them if there's any doctor available just to check on him. Me and my baby went around the private clinics but unfortunately they're all closed. Obviously, doctors from other towns went home to vote also. So we went home at my parents house and planned to have him check the following day. My dad came home after learning we were home and the baby's unwell. That's how my parents are, they couldn't just sit and chit chat with their friends when one of their grandchildren is sick. After failing to play with the baby because he's too clingy, my dad opened the TV. He is watching news when there were reports that the COMELEC servers isn't impossible to get hacked. I, on the other hand was chatting on messenger with the pediatrician whose clinic was in town. Prior to this, I chatted with her cousin who is also an online seller and she endorsed me to the doctor. While waiting for the reply from the doctor I scrolled over Facebook and came across these posts. That was still early, 11 am. Well, it's not to offend anybody but why, how? It was not a new thing. Every election there is always cheating that takes place. It's all part of dirty politics. I won't talk any further as I am lacking some informations and it's hard to just say words. As of this writing (2:45 am) partial, unofficial reports are being posted on social media while in the lower categories, reports are either final or still partial. For the next six years (for President down to the senators) and three years (for the district and sectoral), I only hope that those who are elected perform their tasks, duties and responsibilities for the country's welfare and wouldn't only think on making their pockets thick. 5-10-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

It's Just Politics Two more days to the most awaited day in the Philippines, the 2022 election... Am not actually into politics and my introductory sentence neither do I know if it was the right term, lol. Greetings! Am inactive for I think already a month. I don't know if you even remember me. I have been missing this platform but what can I do? Helpless as I am that I am always physically and mentally drained. There were days that I jot on my draft box but when I think of getting it done, it was already not an updated one from the current events. And what I do is delete the whole drafted article and sometimes two or three. Haayy... (As in deep sigh). My online selling had been taking most of my time. I wanted to do live selling to make it more easier and hasten it but there are factors which make me not. I had been occupied by it and honestly, I only came to know some of the running candidates thru social media and their flyers hanged along designated areas and not came face to face with them. Rallies were held during their campaigns but I can't just leave my kids themselves at night. Ever since political aspirants have filed their certificate of candidacy their supporters have had arguments between themselves most especially those at the Executive level. **Social media became more toxic.** For Filipino citizens in this platform, we all know the history most especially of our Presidential candidate, Bong Bong Marcos' background. No. I won't talk about politics because as said earlier am not good at it. I only state this because it's what the other party is using against him. While the others most especially the pink party is also being thrown with negativities. Well, it's just the usual political games for years. These things are all over facebook and other social medias which make it all the more toxic. **Its just politics.** Since we started our right to vote on government officials when we reached the right age we started to understand how politics is. We started to choose our "manok", a good leader to stand for the country down to the lowest level. The right to choose which is which brought division between friends and even families. It was due to unavoidable altercations among their preferred candidate. A Facebook post of a screenshot of a couple even went viral because it caused their untimely break up. ( Am not updated if they got back together after their posted convo). Some had made posts about their political views but didn't name any candidates. However, was misunderstood by their friends or relatives maybe that made them throw unnecessary words at the comment section. Though you have a good point but inevitable as it is there are those get offended still. It can cause arguments which undeniably is. Technically, it should not be how it is. Because after the election those whom you have been supporting during the political campaigns won't or even doesn't acknowledge you after they take charge of the position you put them in. Well, some would but not all the time most especially if you're just a tiny ant. That is a proven fact. So what should we do? We don't need to argue with our family, relatives or friends over our political candidate preferences because at the end of the day it will only be us who would be having each others back. So that when ones manok won, then it's good. At least we have one to represent us to that certain someone. And, when a family decided to support a certain candidate it is all the more the best. Well, life's too short to get stressed about such. Still, be nice w/ everyone 'cause hurting anyone's feeling just because of politics is a big "NO NO. Let it not be a root for friendships and relationships to be broken. Let's just respect each one and ones preferences and views. No hate just love. On May 9, we only hope for a peaceful election, just like it usually was in our place. *****05-7-22***** *****Z-Graeden*****

What Could've Caused It? *At the middle of a hearty meal at lunch we were alarmed by our youngest sibling's shout.* On March 26, we went to one of my paternal cousin's wedding. We didn't attend the ceremony though but we went at the reception. It was very hot that time that I had to make my kids wear their caps. We arrived at the reception, our cousin's residence at a good timing. There's less people lined up to get food and lesser crowd, too. After getting food, we went to greet the newly weds and give them our gifts. It was me, my sister and our mother. The kids sat patiently at one side where our father was sitting while they wait for us. We, then immediately made our exit because the baby am carrying was already fussy and couldn't stand the heat. There's nothing unusual when we get in the house. Our youngest sibling was in his room doing some of his school papers. His windows were also closed. We called him to eat but my mother said they already had lunch. "***Fire***!" He said in a not so alarming tone as he went again inside to get a bucket of water. My sister stood immediately and went out to investigate when she shouted in an alarmed voice. "***Ma, apoy***!" She screamed. My mother got up and she, too panicked. And called out. **FIRE**! I, on the other hand was startled on how my sister and mother reacted. As I looked towards the door, I saw huge fire just outside. I sprung from my chair and immediately went to the bathroom to fill the bucket with water. I took the rug at the bathroom floor and some dirty clothes and submerged in the bucket of water. My sister came to get water and I handed her the bucket w/ water and the wet rug and the dirty clothes in. While doing so, I was holding my baby securely. Maybe it was an instinct while the adrenaline went high to fight. I forgot I was holding my baby but at the same time I was carrying him in an secured manner. We have a fire extinguisher inside the house but unluckily it was not refilled. The house was actually divided into two. Each has its own comfort/bathroom, kitchen and a spacious living room. Three rooms in each also. The ones my parents are occupying is where we are eating at that time. The other half is where I am stacking the items am selling. The room nearest the entrance of the other side is where my younger brother's. That's why he fetched water from the kitchen on the other side. Outside the main door is a wooden shelf which is made of pine wood and repurposed as shoe rack. When the fire was extinguished, my mother asked how or what could've caused the fire. We were all puzzled because there's nothing but our shoes, umbrellas and some of her flowers on top. Her spray/water bottle was also in it. So I guessed and said maybe the spray bottle she used to water her plants combusted.. The shelf outside the door is always reached by the sun from 12 noon until sundown and so does the remaining half part of the house. My mother lost her appetite to eat while I felt the aftermath of my adrenaline rush. We fixed the foods because the kids are done eating. I also told my mother and sister not to shriek in times like that because they will startle others. And instead of thinking what to do, they will just panick. The shelf was divided into three. The upper part was where our shoes was, the middle was where some of my mom's gardening tools are placed. While the lowest was for the dogs' and cats' bowls. After partially recovering from the shock Mother went out and started to clean the shelf when she found a box of matches at the very back of the middle part . The one which was the most burnt part. Near it was a small bag of artificial fertilizer or the ones we call ammonia. The box of matches was somehow in a shady part of the shelf. The shelf was made of pinewood, the variety we call "*saleng*" which its sticky sap comes out when place under the sun and it gets hard to remove from clothes when you happen to sit in it. This is the one which is best used when starting a fire because even a small piece can ignite a pile of firewood. The umbrellas, shoes and slippers in the shelf could catch fire easily that's why the fire got big in no time especially that the kind of wood the shelf is made of was "saleng." How did we know there's fire outside? As told earlier my brother was busy with his school papers. The shoe rack was just outside his window which is flanking the main door where we were. Our li'l brother smelled something like burnt rubber but just ignored thinking that maybe someone was burning something in the rice paddies nearby. His window was closed and it was not made of clear glasses, but then he saw that smoke was already entering his room. He immediately opened one of the windows and saw the fire. He shouted at once to get our attention which we thought was a fire from our neighbors some meters away. He directly went straight to the kitchen sink just outside his room. In a split second he came out then again shouted to be notice. That was the time my sister got up, followed by my mother then me looking outside the door. Thankfully, there was no electric cables near it and the house was made of concrete. What could've happened? The fire got big in just a minute. And another thing we were thankful of was it didn't happen in the furniture shop. It was located at the back of the house. It is where every power tools is stored and the stocks of wood piled. Sawdust isn't't also cleaned and that, too can catch fire easily. We were very much grateful that our father wasn't in the house yet. Because it will surely make his blood pressure sky high. Everyday, we see fire incidents in the television caused by many factors which we weren't able to avoid. So in order to prevent something like this we have to be vigilant, need to check everything before leaving the house. With our case, I still doesn't know what could've caused it. Was it the box of matches with the artificial fertilizer beside it? Or was it the spray bottle for my mom's flora? 4-12-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

March: Rabies Awareness Month *In the Philippines, have you watched how the 2 year old cried over his catto receiving the anti-rabies vaccine at a center? Perhaps he didn't understand the process when they took his furbaby from him, or, maybe he felt bad for it getting injected.* March is a month for rabies awareness. Do we really need to be aware of such? Do we have to get our pets get vaccinated against rabies? Literally, yes. We need to be aware of rabies because the fatality is hundred percent when no appropriate measures were taken promptly. Let me tell you a related story but won't narrate every detail. *About 10 years ago, a cousin of mine who was a year older than me suffered and eventually expired from a dog bite.* *One evening, as he was on the way from the tertiary school he was attending to his boarding house, a dog he met just bit him and went away. He washed the bitten area w/ soap and water when he arrived at his boarding house. Then, he attempted to let it bleed as much as possible by pressing it.* *On one of his visit to his hometown after a month, his mother noticed the obvious change in his behaviour, it was bizzare. He became ill wherein they brought him to a hospital in their locality.* *With the signs, the doctor suspected he was rabid, thus, they asked him whether he was bitten by a dog or any wild animal. That's when he admitted he was bitten by a dog along the way a month ago.* *My cousin's s situation became worse to the point that he developed hydrophobia. They immediately transferred him to a higher level hospital but then the rabies had already reached his brain. His behaviour became worst. He became more agitated to the point that his mother can no longer calm him nor keep him in place. Just like a rabid animal more saliva coming out from his mouth, he can't be controlled. He lacked sleep. He was having all the signs that the virus had consumed his entire body.* *On the other hand, a vaccine was given to his mother who was the most exposed to him especially that she begun to feel ill.* *After some time of fighting, the most heartbreaking happening took place where his suffering ended. Bless his soul.* See? That's why we have to be aware of animal bites and its consequences. When a dog bit anyone, if possible it should be observed for ten days to determine if it show any sign of rabies before getting the bitten individual vaccinated. But in cases wherein the culprit is a stray one and escaped then vaccine should be given immediately. It is the same when a bite was done by wild and nocturnal animals because they are the worst carriers of rabies. *Getting our pets vaccinated against rabies is a necessary practice.* Every year, here in our municipality the local government helds a municipal wide vaccination against rabies. Every pet owner is urge to get his/her pet jabbed. This program doesn't only protects the owner and his household from rabies when scratched or bitten by their pet. But it is a protection for the pet itself. Because admit it or not, dogs and cats are roaming around our vicinity. Only a few were placed inside or have a dog house that's why dog fight can not be prevented. That's when rabies gets transmitted. And a rabid animal, whether provoked or not just bites. I was prompted to write this article because after two weeks of staying at my parents house, I have learned upon coming home that there was a case of a rabid dog. And I was to tell my husband to buy a vaccine or call a vet to immunize our doggo when he said that municipal employees came for dogs and cats vaccination in the morning of the day we came. Prior to this, I learned from my son that some of his classmates were bitten by a suspected rabid dog where there were 9 individuals bitten by it in just a matter of minutes. And when I went to the other sitio, there were also others who were bitten by a dog which they don't know its owner. Maybe it was the same dog. The dangerous part is that nobody knew when it bit other dogs along its way. That's why the OMAG conducting vaccination was very timely. Nonetheless, my father said that dogs knew when a rabid dog, as in the vicious one can be identified by other dogs that's why they knew how to get themselves out of the way. Author's note: Let's be a responsible pet owners because we never know, especially that some dogs just bite without being provoked. And, never get too close to a dog especially when it is a stray one. 3-26-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

Certified Zombie Wesh! Wehhh! 'di nga?! That'll how most of us reacts when hearing the word zombie. But in today's age and time with deadly virus around, zombie was coined after some memes regarding COVID-19 vaccine. Was it really how? I don't actually know, maybe you do. In relation to the description by Webster dictionary, I refer myself a zombie when I woke in the morning without a decent sleep resulting to dark circles around my eyes, bloodshot eyes (but not as red) due to lack of sleep, very pale complexion and sometimes very unorganized thought due to absentmindedness. A total slack that is. So there, zombie images or memes were posted on social media with a corresponding vaccine. After completely jabbed with phzer, I can say I am a certified zombie. Yeah! Party, party! **A major requirement** Since the introduction of vaccines against COVID-19, the government has been persuading the public to get vaccinated to have protection against the so-called virus. Yet, many were not convinced most especially that news about it had been constantly changing. First, it was not recommended for those with comorbidities and the elderly but later on they were the ones who were properly advised to have it. We all know what had been going on regarding the vaccines when it comes to getting vaccinated. The "no vaccine, no ride" was one of them. It prompted citizens to show their disgust on social media when they were asked about their opinion towards it. We are currently on alert level three but when you look around, their seems to be no cases. (Edit: I don't know what alert level we are in today, but it was getting back to normal).Yes, every household has a member having colds, cough, and flu. The weather is cold and unpredictable which intensifies the transfer of virus but the elders said that even on the olden days there was a year or years when the whole community is going thru such but they only refer it as "muteg" or in Tagalog, it is sipon which is colds in English. There was no restrictions and the like. But then, it will pass on itself. Regarding restrictions, when I took my 2 year old boy to the hospital on the second week of February I was asked so many things at the triage. We were nearly not granted entry. They asked if there was anyone in my household who is fully vaccinated so that they will be the one to assist my boy. I told them we were not from the central town and those fully vaccinated were out working. It was a waste of time until I showed them the picture I took from my first dose. So this just shows that they're not entertaining unvaccinated citizens? Recently, pediatric vaccines are also being introduced. As of today, they're not that strict about it. No doubt that it will be implemented as a requirement for full force face to face soon. It will be just like what the higher age group. Like what I said, am not against neither am I a pro. However, doubts are still lingering since we still doesn't know what it will be like after a couple of year after getting jabbed. What can you say about the vaccines for pediatrics? This was drafted on February 17, after I was fully vaccinated. But I was only able to get it done and posted today due to my busy days... I can only say I am a zombie even before getting the vaccine. Additionally, lets continually pray for peace between the conflict of the currently warring countries... *3-6-22* *Am a bit outdated here and thus my articles... I have so many unfinished drafts which no longer need posting. At ako'y nanghihinayang... Sana magkaresulta ang online selling q pra d masayang c effort at qng bakit ako laging wala dito. If only I could be divided into two or three so the other halves could perform the other tasks.* *This should be posted on 3-2-22.* Edit: 3-10-22 Z_Graeden

Unity in Times of Adversity A man who seems to be crippled is sitting and waving at the middle of the road for motorists passing by the highway. He is dragging his other leg which seemed to be fractured or hurt by something or he simply met an accident at the road. It also caused him to get bruised on his arms while his leg is obviously in a bad shape as he waves his hand grimacing in pain. Cars, riders and passers by are only looking and watching him without even stopping to help the poor man get to a hospital. I have watched this video of a vlogger who acted wounded at the middle of the road. However, no one bothered to stop and help him. Even passers by were only looking at him as he talked to them laboriously with him dragging his wounded leg. You can see the discomfort in his face while trying to get the attention of whoever is willing to help him. Unfortunately, no one cared to. *Have you at one point of your life lose hope in humanity? As for me, yes. There are instances when I encounter some youngsters who doesn't bother to take whatever am carrying even when I had a baby and a toddler in tow. So far, that was the only thing when I asked myself why our younger generation seems to have lesser sympathy towards others.* An hour or so passed when an elderly man finally came to his aid. At that point in time there were many onlookers who gathered to see how the elderly man could get the badly injured man at the middle of the road. That moment was perfect enough for him to grab and show how human race loss their ability to be humane. So that when the elderly man was able to get him up, he assured him he is okay. The vlogger who acted injured told the people around and the vehicles passing by that he was acting. Unbeknownst to the public that he installed a hidden camera to capture everything. Cruelly, a man on his motorcycle even glared at him and told him that the hospital is just a kilometre away. Why does he need to bother people rather than getting himself to the hospital? That only shows how people nowadays still are cruel even when you're on the verge of death. **Lucky or blessed?** We are people who live in a close-knit community. The act of bayanihan where unity is seen isn't lost even as the days go by. Accidents happen and it is inevitable no matter how careful we are. So here's the picture, a jeepney had fallen a cliff last month. Luckily it landed on a spot where it was held and wasn't gone all the way down. Actually, I don't know the full details but thankfully the driver and the others are all fine. Villagers rushed just as the moment they learned about the incident when in fact it was already dark. The following morning, the people, men and women in the village gathered around to help in towing the fallen vehicle. The women brought over what they can from their homes to the site where they cook food for everyone who was there to help. Same incident happened in our barangay years ago wherein the famous actor-comedian Tado was among those who perished. It was the bus, Florida they were riding that unfortunately fallen off a deep cliff. It was actually written and published by Xzeon. The villagers were the first responders before the arrival of medics and policemen and other agencies to help in occurrences as such. Unity in a place shows how one cares for his brothers, neighbors and others. It should never be out phase from our good moral character because there's no man who will not be needing anyone especially his neighbours. The golden rule should not be overlooked because wherever you will go, you will need others. "Do not do unto other what you don't want others do unto you." Unity isn't only seen during accidents and calamities but in everything the community and its people is going through. What comes with unity are compassion, respect, love sympathy and emphaty, cooperation and everything in between. Thus, the saying says ,"United we stand, divided we fall." Am not the best mother out there but I try to instill my kids the golden rule whenever a chance for them to learn its meaning arises. It's just like when one of them needs a help and the other seems not to care. Then I will tell them to help the one in need so that when they also need help, then others won't hesitate to. The process goes on a cycle wherein unity is the product. Although kids often forget what is told but when constantly reminding them they will adopt it until they grow older. 2-17-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

Dancing with Life *Everyday is a time to kill with productivity (but am not that productive, though). It is to be spent with good will. Yes, we are challenged, tested and tried by everyday happenings in our life. Lucky are you when your are much fortunate than your neighbors or should I say blessed?* Last week, there was the so-called "*Ayuda*" where most were granted. It's not actually the ayuda we know wherein it is granted to those who doesn't have job during the peak of the pandemic or anyone who passes the government's standard. It was from the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (or OMAG). I forgot the right term for it. It was anyway granted to those small scale farmers whose crops were destroyed by pests. Luckily, my name was on the list when in fact my name was like a curse that it wasn't or seldomly granted even with job orders from the government. However, to be able to get that said ayuda, one must complete the requirements like vaccine card, cedula and at least one valid I.D. I don't have a vaccine card because honestly I wasn't vaccinated from COVID-19 vax. I'm not a pro neither am I against it. It was just like what?! The government is forcing us to get jabbed by imposing a law or a rule of "no vaccine no transaction?! Duhh! With no more second thoughts I breezed in at the Municipal Capitol to get my first shot. Vaccine card is a requirement nowadays and we will be using it until time tells us so to stop. A young people like me would surely be needing it even for errand purposes only. Our youngest brother, college student told me about having a QR code in their vaccine card where it is scanned upon entering the school campus. What I know about having that one is getting a booster shot first. They also need to have a Philhealth. It was another jaw dropping reaction. Those ages 21 below are still a beneficiary of their parents and so how about those less fortunate who couldn't afford to pay the yearly bill for Philhealth? Those more than 21 year old students need to pay for it? How so when they're but just students trying to make ends meet in their studies? The pandemic had brought so much difficulties and the situation's getting worse as the days roll by. The same day when I had my first dose vaccine I made a purchase for an HT (hard toys) box. It was the same as those thrifted clothes or *ukay* as what we locally call. Basically, it has different codes. I purchased the same code just like what I am seeing on Facebook with good feedback. It was a euro box and it costs much. Upon opening, I was disappointed. My mom's first reaction was my online selling before was way better than the box, which is very much true. The box contents were all good but it wasn't packed nicely so that many spaces weren't filled with goods. Up until today, I wasn't able to have half of my capital, it was such a great loss However, I am learning from my co-sellers of HT boxes though there were really disappointing moments. On the last week of January, I was reminded by my mother to look for CLE result which was held on December of 2021 which my younger brother attended. I told her the results weren't out yet because everyone would be posting on social media their congratulatory message to their family member and friends who passed. Nonetheless, my brother messaged me on the evening of January 28 telling he didn't make it. I felt heartbroken and sad for him. Then how much more he himself who took the licensure exam. I composed myself and tried to console him the best I can. But he didn't reply. It was his second take but without having any luck in both. While I was drafting some parts of this I was with my kids at the rooftop watching the sunset. I was reminded of the song "Life's a dance." According to my understanding, it's a song that expresses a feeling of having a strong fighting spirit. Life could be so boring when there's no any bumps and twists. We always have to remember that we encounter such because it's what will make us grow as a person. It defines how far can we make it through the journey. And as we go on, we learn because learning is an unending process. It's up to us to remain stubborn and doesn't learn from what we have gone through. The sunset itself is a beauty that will light up oneself to see it more than just an end of the day. I told 'em brothers of mine to be more open and voice out their problems because their fight is ours also. And with the pandemic around, it is more challenging. The latest I have learned from an article is that board exams will be made digital soon wherein examinees are required to have laptop where they will be taking the exam. So again, I encouraged my younger brother to take another. It's not a matter of being bright or not. I hope I am helping him with my words. The sunset, I told my brother, is a constant reminder that one season isn't constant and so does night and day. The sunset reminds us that the day is over. Whether we had a great or bad day when the sun sets it signals us to rest our body. Whether the weather is fine or dark clouds are hovering overhead it simply means that everything ends. A new day awaits as dawn arrives. The sun rises again to give us hope for whatever we failed to accomplish and achieve in the past. After all, life's a dance wherein we stumble, get our feet stepped on by others, and sometimes we have to crawl because of the crowd at the dance floor and when given the chance to stand don't lose it. It will make you a better dancer. It's a matter of resilience. I wrote this while am at the midst of the tornado. Everything I do just can't seem to please me. Instead of getting things better it even became worse and worst. While am trying to look at the brighter side I also tried to encourage my brother. I even felt like I was a bad sister when he opened up a conversation regarding his contract at the DPWH where I was at a deep thought about my online selling. How inconsiderate I was, I thought. After that, we didn't get the chance to have another brotherly talk again before we came home. I hope you're all fine and well. The online selling which I started was just so time consuming that I prefer writing more. Nevertheless, I like to do something which is out of my routine that's why I chose to get back to online selling. It was a bit risky as the items are from box from abroad. Just like any other thrift items, it's a win or lose. Ending this: losing everything sometimes is what is needed to gain everything. Certain things have to end so better things can begin. And as we breathe, we can dance with the beat and learning the ways. Your life's not over, there's hope. 2-12-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

My Mom's Blooms I was so inactive the past days due to our sickness. Nonetheless, we're all better by now. As much as I wanted to write something, ideas can't just seem to pop out from my coconut shell. As a result, I ended up scrolling down Facebook and looking for something I can sell online. HT boxes are on trend and I wanted to try it. However, prices in our town are just so unimaginable, it's so expensive compared when I will be purchasing from the city. I disregard the thought and just think of something to write but nothing really comes to mind. I scrolled on my gallery and found pictures of my mother's flowers. She had been collecting them when the pandemic was on its peak on 2020. I took clicks on them last December though I don't have knack on taking shots. My mother became addicted on these flowers and ornamental plants that sometimes my dad needs to remind her that it was already late morning or nearly evening for her to feeds their pigs. She spends more time on checking every leaf for aphids, and caterpillars, watering them and preparing pots with the needed soil and compose then transferring splits that needed to be transferred to another pot. It was just so time consuming. Sadly her plants weren't in an organized manner. It was because their house was still not done from construction of the outside veranda. Every time we go at their place to visit, we can't help but admire the colorful blooms that compliment the green rice fields around. It doesn't only sooth the soul but relieves tired mind and body. This cymbidium here is the yellow variety that has vibrant yellow flowers. There are other varities of cymbidium but this was the only one in bloom. It has a very sweet and fragrant smell that's long lasting. It's flowers doesn't also wilt easily. Cymbidium is expensive especially when you buy those already well established. It depends on how many splits you're buying and the number of spikes it has. (A crab cactus hanging above it). Bougainvillea is also trending that it comes with different varieties. These were just one of the common ones, I think. Crab cacti also making their name on social media. That those rare varieties are being sold expensive. However, they don't like to be place under direct sunlight but on shady parts. ( I wasn't able to take photos of these cacti.) These are just some of the flowers that I don't know. They're not that expensive but all in all, they're beautiful. Actually, this one here is a wild fruit. It's like small pellets with a purplish-pink color. I don't know if the change in habitat made it light pink. My mom's chicken loved to peck on its fruit. One of my favourites are these. I don't know what's the above one called while the lower is a vanda. It has long lasting blooms that adds life inside and out the house. The only roses there is left when she decided to sell the other varieties with multiple colors. She thought that she will be able to purchase some more but it was the contrary when our cousin didn't send her another batch due to mishandling. There's also a maroon colored native rose which blooms many and continually. However, it doesn't have any fragrance at all. Mother also has different varieties of caladium which she kept checking. It's because caterpillars love to munch on its leaves that make them fat and healthy and on the contrary making those caladium look haunted and ugly. And, uhhhm. Yeah, this one I forgot the name. My mom's fave actually. She spent some good amount to buy online and outside of our province to get this. She gave me one but am so lazy on the process of how to make it bloom. Because it won't just bloom on it's own without fixing soil, small stones, compose/ manure and others accordingly in a pot. It's a lot of work. My mother has lots of ornamental plants around the house which I am not able to take shots. It is also one of her stress reliever. One time during lockdown, together with my father, they went to hike the mountains and creeks to look for wild flowers. I again encouraged them to go for a mountain trek when they were too stressed from the conflict about the lot before. But they declined because of their arthritis. But then, they engaged themselves in cultivating and propagating their flowers. Indeed, flowers and plants has healing factors that can cure a weary soul and mind. It doesn't only beautify our homes and surroundings, it also help in cleaning the air we breathe. 1-26-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

What a Week (Diary) It was a tough week for me as I have to juggle from one thing to the other. Well, it was as usual expected from a full time house wife. But this time it was different. Everyone was sick. Again! And I have to put an exclamatory mark. Because I really wanted to shout at the top of my lungs if only I am on the mountains and let the wind carry my voice full of heavy feelings. But am not furious, though. My baby catched colds on Friday, ( January 7), right after the day we went out to give our cash gift to the newly wed in our place. He is better by now (Thursday). That's why I again had an sleepless night because he can't properly breathe. He was too fussy and likes to be held forever especially during the day that having a nap is beyond my reach. On Wednesday, prior to this writing, I noticed my daughter's stuffy nose and so does my eldest son. I let them have hot water steam inhalation after I and the baby is done. We do it before going to bed. Thankfully, my daughter got better though she had a low fever on Tuesday evening. However, my eldest, Alto had fever on Wednesday night which prompted me to wake up at the wee hours of the night to give him Biogesic. But before that I had an argument with my husband who came home a little drunk while he's fussing about having flu while at the middle of his work. He's just inconsiderate enough not to think that we have a light sleeper baby who would wake up at the slightest of sounds and wouldn't get back to sleep until the night is old. **Thursday**, my kids didn't go to school due to the teachers webinar which is held all morning. They should be back by afternoon to procede with their class. Thus, I had the time to sleep a little late without thinking that there's no rice for breakfast neither is there any viand. I sprung from bed when the sun shone brightly at our window at 8 am realizing I have to cook. My husband, on the other hand, was curled in a fetal position at his sleeping mattress. He has fever with chills, painful eye sockets, painful muscles and bones... I later learn it because I don't have the time to talk to him and besides am still mad at him. My daughter was all feeling good that she went out to play while my eldest who's wearing mask play with their baby brother. Usual as it is, a mother multitasking even with head throbbing due to lack of sleep not only on that night but even on the previous ones. As of this writing, 2200 hours Thursday, I just finished giving both my eldest and my husband their paracetamol. Thankfully, the baby is feeling better that he slept at 8 pm though I had to cuddle him for an hour before laying him down on his side of the bed. Meanwhile, I received a private message on my messenger from one of my son's classmates. As if I had done something wrong after I told on the gc for parents for grade 3 that if they have any concern regarding their child's performance inside the classroom, they might as well go directly to the school and talk with the teacher on concern and not on the group chat itself. This parent had told me indirectly that they don't have the time to go check their kids in school and have their day muddled up because they're working. She said everything which I didn't even asked. (As if I care if they are out from 7 am to 7 or 8 in the evening.) She wanted me to feel that I am just a house wife who's just expecting everything from her husband. Nonetheless, I didn't stoop to where she wanted me to be, I wasn't affected by how she said that they are working to make the day productive and I wasn't even budge by how she said the parent of concern in the gc is a busy person on her egg business. I know how people in our village think. And am less affected by her words. Moreover, she's a talkative. It's been a long day... Tomorrow is another day to unfold and write about. **Friday**, I feel my head throbbing but not that much. However, I still managed to cook, wash the dishes and prepared my daughter for school. She doesn't want to go alone and her big brother is sick and can't accompany his li'l sister. Later in the morning, nearly midday, I feel a bit cold and hot. I have to wear socks and sweater when in fact the weather is hot. I cooked chicken soup to at least alleviate our sick feelings. I have to constantly remind my husband and son of their medicine which I bought. My older brother who is a member of AIM Global brought over his products that could help in faster recovery. The day ended with me and the baby to sleep at 11 pm, as usual. **Saturday** came and I really feel cold, my throat is itchy which prompted me to gargle with warm salt water. My son no longer has fever while my husband still feels some symptoms of the flu. They're better. I think I was too exhausted, and due to my lack of sleep all the time that my immune system was weakened. The baby who got well keep sneezing again. It's because I am also sick and there's no one else to cuddle him but me. And in the evening, we had steam inhalation. Nevertheless, we wear mask, constant hand washing, warm water therapy, warm salt water gargle, and steam inhalation. There's no way of isolating a sick member because we have a very small house. I just hope that we get better as the day progresses. **Sunday- Monday** were like total hell day. Frankly, I asked the heavens to break open the grounds and eat me up. Since the baby hadn't slept for 2 consecutive nights that I feel like a zombie. I think zombies are far more better because they don't feel a thing whilst I on the other hand was having pains all over. My throat seems to be sliced with something while it's painful to breathe. My head would like to get exchange with my feet. In short, I feel like being in an upsidedown position while everything seems to be spinning. I didn't even eat breakfast and lunch on Sunday due to the pain on my throat. Thankfully, there was a local seller of meds to whom we bought antibiotics. On Monday, though I'm not totally fine but at least a lot better. On Tuesday, I brought the baby on a private clinic in town. It's because he still doesn't want to eat and only breastfeed once in a while. His voice was very hoarse and I bet he feels the same way I do. At least for now he smiles and plays. I only hope he gets well the soonest. I also bought him feeding bottle so that I may get him drink water. He just turned 6 months this 18 and it's best to introduce water and some other complimentary baby foods. P.s. My third child, Graeden is with my parents in town. Am just thankful he's there, else he might also get sick like us. 1-29-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

Back to School: Are We Back to Normal Yet? The world had been handled and controlled by the pandemic for already 2 years and counting. Many things happened within those two long years. It's even more tiring and stressful to watch news on TV because it had always been the head news . We keep on thinking and asking when will it come to an end? Or does it even have an end when every now and then there's a new variant that mutates from the previous? We have been living in a cell, imprisoned by the so-called virus for too long. It held us from our freedom we used to enjoy. Other countries are already back to being in a normal run of life while we are still stuck in a quicksand trying to grip whatever hope to get us out. One thing that's being held is the school. Students and pupils alike are required for either modular or online classes depending on their localities. The first year of this kind of schooling was a challenge to both students and parents. Lower grades most especially those from kinder to third grade really needed attention to which parent or guardian focused on. So how about those with multiple kids and some parents hadn't have an education? Yes, there are still parents who hadn't the privilege to go to school their time. Again, it's another challenge for them. It was not only about teaching, eh? Financially challenge as well. Some were forced to leave their job because the company they're working with needs to close. Then they weren't able to find another job and they need to stay home for the kids modules. Then, money is needed for the students needs for online class, mobile data or wifi. If only it is possible, we badly like to have the kids back to school and resume the usual school activities. It is in school where kids learn more about other people, their skills and talents are honed and built. They learn about leadership and many things. Of course, we teach them in our houses but some kids tend to listen more to teachers. They even learn faster in school about their academic lessons. It is because not every parent knows how to deliver the lesson or how to get the kid to understand what is being taught. Then vaccines were introduced for human race's protection against this virus. It was told that it's not compulsory and only those who like to get jabbed will get the vaccine. However, as the days rolled by it becomes mandatory. Everyone was persuaded to get it because it is the key to get us out from the cell. Vaccine became a requirement. Pediatric vaccines for 12-17 evolved which students need to get so they may be able to attend school. It however, needs a consent from parents or guardian. Thankfully, some schools, elementary and high school alike are having their face-to-face classes. These schools are those with low levels of cases from the pandemic that the government allowed to. The elementary schools here in our village had tutorial classes on the first grading of this school year. They attended classes provided that protocols are followed. Plastic barriers were made and placed in every chair by parents. But, nonetheless, our place was then granted to have full face-to-face schooling on January of this year. I am more thankful because I would only guide my two kids on their take home assignments if there is any. So on the first day my kids attended. I'm very thankful that my eldest woke up the earliest was responsible enough to heat water for him and his younger sister's bath. He fixed their bags which I wasn't able to do so the night before. Getting up at 6 am is impossible for me because I go to sleep as late as 1 am due to the baby's fussiness. Regarding my daughter, a five year old girl, she still isn't ready to go to school. She used to wake at past 7:30 am that's why I have to be patient in waking her and making her feel ready to go. There are times she said she doesn't want to go to school but when I show her her clothes she will wear then her mood will brighten up. As of this writing, at 4:30 pm Monday, I am helping her with her assignments. It was her module given by her teacher last Friday which she wasn't able to get done. It was supposed to be pass Monday morning but she only does it when she feels like doing. Anyhow, she's enthusiastic when she does her homework. And she loves to speak in English kahit engols kalabaw ksi my inglisera syang classmate na ginagaya nya. Funny thing is, my accent is unpredictable while hers is like Peppa pig's. Hopefully, face-to-face classes will be until the school year ends. During the prepandemic, kids' lessons were far more advanced than during our time. But with the pandemic, it seems those starting at grade school were stuck. How can I not compare when I see my third grader unable to construct simple sentence with the proper use of pronoun, tenses of verb. In short wrong grammar even the simplest of sentences. Back then, typical third grader like me should be able to read and understand a plot and answers questions that follow it. One is able to take note while the teacher is teaching, do outlines. One is able to do mental computation when it comes to arithmetic especially multiplication. Kids are no longer as creative and competitive as they should be. Hoping that the pandemic will be over the soonest because we already have enough of it. 1-12-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

The Giant Slayers *He was fascinated by the reddish glow of their skin. He watched them walk towards his hut with mouth agape. Everything he wants he gets that's what's in his mind. And he is determined to know the secret behind the glowing youthful look of the two young men.* `While the kids were enjoying grilling some hotdogs and marshmallows on New year's Day, I was reminded of this story while looking at the glowing embers of the charcoal. I asked my siblings if they can remember the story because I can't recall the name of the giant our grandfather told.` The village was young after the great flood had wiped human from the face of the land. Lumawig, the god of all deity saw the wickedness of the people below and decided to punish them. Many moons had passed that the man and woman who survived the great flood bore children until they again filled the land. The villagers live by toiling the land. Their *kaingins* were on the mountain sides and planted with sweet potatoes, beans and legumes, millet, cassava, and other root crops that could be grown. They work diligently and happily. The crystal clear river that runs in between the mountains provide them with potable water to drink. It didn't fail to give them water creatures as an additional food. This includes *gadiw*- small fishes that the river is plenty of, crab, *appun*, and other water creatures that the natives catch. There was this gigantic man who live close to the village who has an unjust treatment to the villagers. He was feared by the people who live close by. With his gigantic figure that he was so abusive. He imposes fear to anyone that no one dared to ignore his words. Everything he wants he gets. He depends on the peoples crops and catch to live. And all he does is to sleep and wakes up to eat whatever he took from the villagers. He loves *gadiw* much that whoever he saw at the river catching his most favourite food is not spared from him. He takes it from him with his mouth watering in pleasure. His name was Volalakho. On a fine sunny day, two young men went up the mountain to gather firewoods. They happen to run into a wild plant which bears small berries, the size of pellets. The fruits' color is a tinged of purplish red. They thought it was some sort of food but when they picked it, it crushed into their fingers coloring them. It was called *vahhat*. Their witty mind told them to do something about it. They gathered much which is enough to cover their whole body. Then, they rubbed it from their face to toe. Men only wear *bahag* that this two young men looked like they bathed with blood. Their color was made more strikingly noticeable by the shining sun. They carried the firewoods and head down to the village where they will passed by the giants hut. Volalakho at this time of the day is awake and is waiting outside his hut for anyone to passed by. It was his routine to do so he can have something for midday meal. From where he is seating prettily, he saw the two young men approaching. Their color caught his attention. He was fascinated by the reddish glow of their skin. He watched them walk towards his hut with mouth agape. Everything he wants he gets that's what's in his mind. And he is determined to know the secret behind the glowing youthful look of the two young men. The giant spoke with his thunderous voice when the men were almost near his hut. It caused them to look terrified and they walked to a halt. The young men are pretending to be horrified when in fact they are itching to perform the task. The giant asked them how they got their color and they are much willing to show him how. These two young men led the Volalakho to the mountains. Before they headed home from the mountains, they had gathered and readied some firewoods and *itlid*. This itlid is a type of vine which hangs from the trees. It is or the same vine as what Tarzan used to hang and swing from tree to tree. This type of vine is what they used to bind the firewoods they collect. It is still fresh which indicates that it is strong enough to hold something and can't just be cut. The men ask the giant to position himself in a big tree where he could stand. He oblige with no any rejection as long as he will attain the color of the two. One man is fixing the dried firewoods below the giant's feet while the other took the itlid and started to tie him up as tight as he might. They lit the firewoods and watch as the giant tolerate the fire. They keep on putting more wood and the giant started to shout. "Stop. Stop. That's enough!" The two replied, "It's not done yet! Your color isn't as good as ours." The fire started to consume the pine tree (*saleng*) which made the giant agonize more in pain as his skin and flesh were eaten by the fire that got even bigger. "Stop! Stop! Stop!" He cried pitifully as he struggles to get loose from the itlid that binds him. "No. It's not done yet," was the men's reply. The ordeal had taken some time until the giant was burned to death successfully by the two. They went home and announced the death of the giant in their hands. -- A very big man with a peanut of a brain, eh? -- Lesson: Do not belittle and underestimate those smaller than you, because their little act which you asked them for will lead you to your down fall. Do not only think of benefiting from them. Remember that everything has an end. -- `It was one bed time story from my late grandfather. I just added some to make it more entertaining`. New Year Escapade *El Dia de los Reyes!* Happy Three Kings Day! The last day of the twelve days of Christmas ends every sixth of January. Not everyone celebrates this day because it's not as popular as Christmas. In countries like Spain, Latin America and most of Europe celebrate it which includes some traditions other than gift giving. Additionally, this day is celebrated to pay homage to the Three Kings who offered gifts to the baby Jesus I have heard of people saying and greeting others Happy Three Kings on January 6 when I was still little. I thought it was just some lame greetings on the 6th of this month. Until I became interested lately to do some research about it. And I found it does exist. Anyway, this article isn't about it. I just add it knowing that this article will be published by the sixth of January. If I haven't heard someone outside saying happy three kings to someone she met while passing by our house then I would not have googled about it On New year's eve, we were busy at the kitchen. My dad had to take charge of the baby because my younger brother needed a hand in preparing the foods for New year. He had cooked more than enough to last the whole of January first. Extras were kept at the fridge We were all tired and sleepy before midnight. Thankfully, the kids slept early at the living room where their grand dad had laid the king size foam. No one wanted to sleep in our room because they said they would love to watch fireworks display. It would be easier for them to go out. But when New year arrived, they were all snoring soundly and can't be awakened They were a little disappointed when they weren't able to wake and watch when they woke up so early in the morning. Because we weren't complete that my other younger brother went to pickup my sister and her kids. Her husband couldn't come because there's no one to feed their pigs and chickens. We enjoyed the day bonding with each other though our other brother wasn't present. They were at his wife's home town. The kids had been grilling marshmallows and hotdogs all afternoon My family doesn't have any beliefs that come along with welcoming new year. However, we, especially my parents who have rooted faith pray fervently for good health, more spiritual growth and strength, internal strength to overcome upcoming challenges for the days ahead, and a bountiful year. Talking about faith, I think I lost mine We didn't have any plans for going out-of-town because we don't want to tire our father in driving. Our other brother will be reporting to his boss when he requires him to. Nevertheless, we loaded the car the following day with foods and swimming clothes. It was nearly mid day when we left that every resort we passed by were fully crammed. Thus, we ended in Ilocos Sur. The first two resorts in Bissayot were no difference from the others we passed by. We didn't have any choice but to go to Edralin's resort, the one which we visited on May. We reached the place pass 12. We were a little shock because the place was so crowded. There were lots of cars parked. But the one incharge of the parking space said that there were lots of spaces at the back and there were also many empty cottages We went to the farthest line of cottages at the back. There's a group already occupying one cottage. And we occupied two. There were still 12 cottages empty and the other two were also occupied by a group of men who just came after us The pool in this area was filled with water only to knee level when it should be 6 feet. It was also dirty that's why the kids can't go swim in it. The kids kept insisting in swimming but I told them not yet because there's no one to assist them. They were only able to play at the swing When we first came here, it was father's day. It was only us because resorts weren't open to the public yet that the pools were turned to fish pond and were filled with tilapia. https://read.cash/@z_graeden/fathers-day-family-day-effb4177 We enjoyed the serenity of the place. But this time, it was like there's a feast. Good thing we were at the farthest part and it was secluded with hallow blockings because my baby would be disturbed. He doesn't like noise There's no more available grillers so my brother had to improvise from available materials. We also brought my sister's butane gas stove which saved us. Because the kids were already hungry that they ate spaghetti and the ube jam I made. My third child also like to swim but I don't want him to because there were really lots of people and my oldest niece won't be able to watch all 5 kids while assisting the youngest. He was somehow entertained by the group of men near us as they play the gong. He then forgot about swimming until we ate at nearly 3 in the afternoon. At pass four, we started to pack our things while the kids take a bath at the shower room. Then, we left the place at 4:46 pm. My son who was inclined in watching the men playing the gong doesn't want to leave yet. He was carried by my dad even if he wanted to stay and struggling from my dad's embrace It was already dark when we passed by the Pikaw resort. We only took shots from the entrance because the area was also packed with cars and people who are there for pictorial. Another thing was, the baby was already fussy and everyone was tired to walk up the road because cars are not allowed to go in. Having quality time once in a while is worth it. 01-06-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

2022: Another Year to Face Hello everyone! I don't know what or how to feel yet about the New Year. It was just like yesterday when we greeted our friends here a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and in a split second the page turned to another new year, 2022! How did you bade 2021 farewell and welcomed 2022? Surely it went awesome. From the preparation fever on new year's eve to the countdown a few seconds to 12 midnight, to finally lighting up those firecrackers you bought and watching fireworks just as the clock hit 12. Then, the media noche you prepared with so much effort and shared it with families and relatives. When I went to town one time I saw no signs of firecrackers displayed for sale on shops and in the sidewalks nor was there a "torotot" for kids to blow and make noise with... It was prohibited though to buy and sell firecrackers. However, when 12 midnight struck. There were firecrackers that were lit. But it was not the same as the past years were. This time there weren't much fireworks display to watch and get awed. Before 2021 ended, you certainly have new year's resolution, haven't you? Some goals to achieve. They could be the things that you weren't able to accomplish the past year and is determined to pursue it again and achieve this year while you add some more on the list. I, somehow doesn't have anything in mind. It seems that the new year can't sink in yet. It seems I was a failure for not achieving and accomplishing anything and the year just gone by in a split second. The couple of year, (2020 and 21 to be exact) were years of so much challenges that tested our faith, capabilities, abilities and resilience. Many have lost their jobs due to the closing of their work places and yet we find ways to survive. The world became more toxic in the sense of survival. No one was spared from stress due to our situations that lead others to depression. Nevertheless, we are resilient enough to get up from where we fell and start to race with life. It may be in a small pace but every step we took surely helped us regain ourselves. Family ties were more strengthen though there were many restrictions that made face to face meet up impossible. Thanks to technologies that made us communicate to our loved ones possible. Many have resorted to online selling though it was also a challenge to get parcels and deliver or drop them. Online rackets were everywhere and if you're not keen enough, you'll end up getting scammed. Before the year ends, the Philippines was then again struck with typhoon before the yuletide season and we're very much sad and sorry to see the heartbreaking destruction it had caused. I must say thank you to read.cash that I was able to send some BCH. However, I chose to stay anonymous and just used QR codes and BCH adresses to send whatever I can. We hope and pray that those who were affected by the typhoon would rise up again the soonest. For me as a mom with four little lovies, jobless and is imprisoned at the very small space of the four corners of our house I find everyday a challenge. I want to achieve something before the year ends which I am working on it but without a supportive husband to back me up that my plans and goals only become a drawing. I ended up frustrated and depressed that my mind was clogged with unhealthy thoughts. I don't want to begin the year with such negativities that I am diverting my thoughts to other things. Me and my kids just came home from my parents place (at 5pm, 01-03-22). We stayed there for the whole Yuletide season. If it's not for my kids back-to-school then I prefer staying with them. I could only hope for the time to stay still while we were at their place but the ticking of the clock is unstoppable. Going back to our house is a torture for my moral and mental health. Sometimes, I get suffocated by the things that happen around me. But at the end of the day, I could only say "I survived for today, tomorrow is a come what may." The New Year has just started. It is filled with lots of uncertainties as we go on our daily lives. It is another year to embrace and face. Though I don't have any particular goal this year it doesn't mean I am not working on things that I really wanted to achieve. It had always been like this over the past years in my married life. I talk to the man, a husband on paper on the things what we need to achieve in a year. However, it only ended up a drawing. Having a handful of kids to raise isn't a hindrance to pursue what I need to. They are my inspiration to dream on. My fuel to drive me thru, in short, they are the one that motivates me. The New Year should be welcomed with joviality, positive outlook of the year ahead despite the tribulation the world had been fighting for the last couple of years, our hearts full of love, and with strong fighting spirit. Yes, admit it or not everyone has his own struggles. But with the right attitude to face it, we surely can surpass it. We have to be stronger than the pass to be able to overcome the storms ahead. Then, celebrate our achievements big or small with ardour, contentment and gratefulness. 01-04-22 *****Z_Graeden*****

The Inevitable 2 days countdown to New Year as of writing December 30, 5:50 pm. I ran to town for some errands. I left the baby with my mother but I took my 5 year old girl with me. Upon arriving, I have noticed the people around. It was just like the prepandemic except that most are wearing masks while others don't. Even some store owners I passed by are bare faced - no facemask while they attend to their customers. "This is the advantage of being vaccinated, less or no worries at all while in the middle of interacting with different people physically, I thought." Because it is a holiday here in the Philippines that you can see people all walks of life coming to and fro. Mostly are shopping in preparation for the upcoming and welcoming the new year. I can say that the town market that I have too hold my girl's hand while walking. Grocery stores aren't an exemption. They're jammed. You can't see a shop close or with no customer in. Gift givings is extended until new year and that explains it. This article, however, isn't about it. I was left thinking about death. It isn't a timely topic in this time of the year but I can't just help thinking about it. Everyone was busy, happy and excited this Yuletide season. One reason is the homecoming, reunion and gatherings of families to celebrate and be with their love ones. But what about if the reason is the death of a family member? When my father came to pick us up on 23rd of December, he just came from one of his cousin's wake. It was a single old lady who died from her longtime disease. Since then, news of someone who died kept coming. A 39 year old lady, a church member of my parents just passed away yesterday leaving her husband and 4 children. The youngest is a 14 months old baby. She had been suffering from asthma since she's young, she also had heart problem. She was hospitalised before Christmas arrived. She was transferred to a regional hospital on the next town then eventually transferred to a higher hospital in the city. But then, she was not spared from the claws of death when her lungs was said to have enlarged. While browsing Facebook, I have seen my youngest brother's batchmate posted on his story a picture of the hospital's emergency room. Later learned that the one they brought to the ER died and was dead on arrival at the hospital. I asked my brother if he knew about the guy and he said he saw him in one of the youth camps held in church in our place and was a drummer like him. They were having a concert in our place which he was playing the drum. He felt uneasiness while they were performing. Cold sweats begun to swell out that after performing he went to wash his face. There and then, he collapsed causing everyone especially the youths to be disorganized and the concert stopped. He was immediately brought to the hospital, unfortunately, the news shattered everyone. A healthy young man, barely 20 was just picked by the Saviour. Same day, my parents (who were with their church mates who met and brought their member's remains on the next town) received a phone call from one of my cousins. A phone call saying that one of my mother's relative died. It was a man, my father's batchmate. He had already been ill for some time. His diseases were complicated that knocked him. A single old man or a bachelor was gone missing on the death anniversary of his brother. It caused the villagers on that same day to conduct a search operation. He was finally found on the ninth day in his hut in the fields which was previously searched by the people but he wasn't there. He died in an unfavorable state. A middle-aged woman was also dead with reason I don't know because I don't know anyone acquainted with her. While typing this, I was looking at my parents especially my dad who is having different kids of pain. A couple of days ago I urged him to go for a check-up at the regional hospital which they did. His ultrasound and other laboratory tests came out good. Now, I suggest they go to the city when for a general check-up. My dad was taking different kinds of medicine; for his hypertension, diabetes- which we never expected because no one from his elders had it when they were alive. Painful head which my mother kept massaging, painful lower extremities when his arthritis attacks. His fingers and arms numb anytime especially when he's working to craft some furniture and while driving. And now, a pain at his left lower quadrant which the ultrasound wasn't able to detect. I can't imagine how much pain when losing someone especially a family. Parents are our ultimate savior in times we are in need. I was thinking about me while I was looking at my kids. I am 30 and blessed with 4 kids to nurture while looking at the things happening around that I can't help to think about such. Questions and what ifs begun to cram my head. If possible, I would like to live and watch my children grow, see them achieve their goals and dreams, and are happy with their life before I depart the world. Death is inevitable. Young or old, healthy or ill can't escape when it snatch one from his precious life. Life is short and was even made shorter by man's lifestyle. And so as we turn to the next page for a new chapter and welcome a new year, we should, if we could take off grudges from our hearts, be more patient, spread love, be more kinder to others and most especially to self. After all, life is short. 12-31-21 *****Z_Graeden*****

Having A Degree, How Important It Is? Education plays a vital role in getting us to a level we wanted to be or at least helps us make a name in society. Without education then maybe we still be living like that of the medieval times, only relying on natural resources for survival. In the different fields like medicine, infrastructure, agriculture, law, politics and many more to mention it started with basic education. From that basic education until tertiary level to having a job that will eventually test our capabilities and abilities will atest how much we have gone so far. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to have higher education. Nevertheless, there are also those whose parents can afford their education but they chose not to pursue it or some reasons have hold them not to. **How important is having a degree really is?** 1. ***Higher opportunity in acquiring a job***. Having a bachelor's degree opens doors for job seekers. Let's take for example when hunting for job whether in government offices or private companies the number one requirement is graduate in college Here in our very own place, the mayor required having a college diploma even when it is only for a job order for school maintenance of 1 or 2 months. He employs high school completers but a lesser opportunity when you haven't step college. 2. ***Skills acquired***. Skills are acquired while in the process of acquiring a degree and truth is employers seek them in ones résumé. While one is able to land a job in line with his degree, he learns more of the needed skills in that field. 3. ***Able to have a high paying job*****.** Let's get back on how degree holders are paid versus highschool completers. An example of this was a job hunter in the Municipal Mayor's office. She was hired because of what she wrote on her application letter- she was a nursing graduate. As what I have told earlier, our mayor requires and hires college grads. Then this job hunter was hired the second time. Later on, the person in charge of that clinic learned that the job hunter cheated. She faked everything. She was neither a nursing graduate nor a nursing student. The hard part was she was paid more than the one who only had 72 units in that college course. What I am hinting at is, when one had a degree he will be paid more than the one who don't. There are lots of advantages of having a degree aside from what was stated above. With a degree one can be able to secure his future and it in his personal growth and building his self-esteem and confidence. The world is filled with cruelty, chaos and a life of competition. Having a degree is a step to a more competitive self. Of course there are those who are able to set up a good spot in society without having a degree and that is through their hard work, determination, confidence to get where they wanted to be. Have you noticed that those who are able to graduate college, land a job and pursue their career are more respected, and recognise by their relatives and the community as a whole? Admit it or not, it is true. One is belittled, mocked upon when he ended up a student drop out. Sometimes, respect was even deprived off him. His thoughts and ideas doesn't seem to be heard and ended on deaf ears even when it was a bull's eye. However, it is stolen from him instead. I ended writing this when my sister noticed how people treated her when she finally posted on her Facebook account about her graduation. She is 36 by the way. Our relatives on higher grounds started to talk to her which is shocking. In fact, they don't even bat an eye even when you meet them. And now, parang nakakatawa. Our parents are able to send us to college pero dhil sa pagiging strikto nila kaya d na nkapagtapos bagkus ang pagrerebelde ang umiral. It was likewise with my sister. She could have finished her degree in time if she didn't keep on shifting courses. She took up Commerce, Education and nursing but didn't graduate after 4 years in college and got married. She decided to finish up her BEED after experiencing so much disappointments when looking for a job. Though there are lots of sacrifices along the way, she's lucky enough to have a very supportive and understanding husband by her side. At last, she graduated. Having a degree has greater opportunities opened for one I must say. However, for a third world country like us our degree holders are leaving the country when opportunities knock. With degree or none it is still important na maging madiskarte sa buhay... 12-29-21 *****Z_Graeden*****

Evening Stroll on December 25th For sure everyone or at least most had a great day on Christmas day, isn't it? When it was a tradition to celebrate Christmas in some countries including the Philippines, some also don't. Families get together whether near or far. It's a holiday after all. Some take it as an opportunity to make amends with the other whom they have some misunderstanding, argument or anything that wrecks a good relationship. The laughter and joy you see in everyone's eyes is very much contagious it resonates. And as usual, I packed up our bags when my dad said he is coming to pick us up on 23rd. Prior to that, during typhoon Odette my kids kept bugging me to go at their grandparents whom they call Lolodad or dad for short to their granddad and Mamay also to their grand mom. They heard about the Christmas lights and Santa,( life-size Santa at the Municipal Capitol) and they can't wait to see it. You can't see anything as huge in our village that's why they really love to see it. Most especially my thirdy, Graeden who missed their grandparents that he kept telling me multiple times a day to go visit them. We didn't have a have much for Christmas, though. What my two younger brothers brought home is only what we have in the table. My other younger brother who is good in cooking is in charge of the kitchen while my niece lends him a hand. Everything is prepared before midnight but me and the kids slept and so does my parents. Eventually, ended up asleep until the morrow. My sister brought over beef and pork leftovers from a blowout party the day before which I have heated after it was taken out of the freezer. Some fish were grilled then we have our brunch with spaghetti and macaroni salad aside from the main dish of rice with the grilled fish, beef soup bones and pork adobo... It was just like any ordinary day because we aren't complete. My sister celebrated with her family but her eldest daughter is with us, and so does my brother at his wife's place. We haven't gone to our relatives also. I decided to bring the kids here at our parents place due to the reason I have stated on my previous article. And since it's the yuletide season, for sure everyone available came home. Kids couldn't be stopped from playing around and I am afraid that they might catch cough and colds because it is unavoidable for them to get in crowds. And we all know that catching colds during this time and most especially this time of the year is inevitable. And that is most likely will lead to what we have been afraid of during the whole two years. After a sumptuous snack late afternoon of Christmas day, the kids have been watching for any sign of bad weather. They really badly wanted to see those lights in town. Good thing it didn't drizzle this time. From my parents house, we have to walk a good 10 minutes to the the parking area where my dad's car is. Then a couple of minutes driving when we arrived at the Municipal Capitol. Unfortunately, a shower of rain begun to fall. Then, the shower became heavier that we weren't able to have a good shot of the area. The kids just feasted on holding Santa and their eyes on the Christmas tree. Too bad the lights of the tree were plugged out. But the others on the second and the succeeding floors were still lit. I was carrying the baby while taking pictures of the other kids and it begun to pour that's why I wasn't able to have a good shot of the whole building. The kids were too excited and shouting with glee from seeing the lights. They haven't enjoyed much due to the rain. We proceeded to the plaza but we were disappointed that the lights were also plugged out. We waited for the rain to stop inside the car. Thankfully, it stopped but was still drizzling a little. So my father drove to what we call "the Circle". It was an an acacia tree in the heart of the town. It was so huge and tall and under it was supported with concrete designed as circle as a sitting area. It was where older men mostly come to greet and meet their old or new friends. The children took their time to watch while I also take them photos. When we passed by the Circle to the Municipio, there were still men sitting under the acacia tree. This time, they're not there anymore perhaps it's already dark. Thus, the kids enjoyed watching the lights and have fun. The kids haven't enjoyed much. Their grandad told them we will again go some other time. While I was typing this, our youngest sibling, second year college student noticed that I have a new cellphone. He asked me what is its RAM. And when I told him he asked to check it out so I handed it to him. He jokingly asked me to swap his which I also jokingly answered no way. But then I asked him why. This brother of ours is not fond of asking things especially when he can afford it. Honestly, he works hard for it. And as for his Realme 6i phone, he saved for it and didn't asked our parents to buy it for him. Though my parents has lots of ordered furnitures at times but he never asked anything but for his expenses in school. So when he asked mine which has a RAM of 6Gb and 128gb ROM I didn't hesitate to give it to him. I know he has no money for a more upgraded one. And he said, he needed a higher RAM for his studies. He has hard drives anyway. In return he also gave me his keyboard for android because he said it is more convenient to use in typing my articles than holding my cellphone all the time to write. Whether he asked it on Christmas day or any day of the year I surely would give him. Christmas should not be spent grandeusly and not something to look forward for anyone to give us gifts but, a time to give thanks for all the blessings and rejoice for surviving a year full of uncertainties and having a good family to back us up in good and the worst of our days. 12-27-21 *****Z_Graeden*****
