Sometimes, We Need To Fail To Succeed
April 17
"He is not here; he is risen. just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." -Matthew 28:6
These are the words of the angel to the women who visited the tomb of Jesus on the first Easter.
Happy Easter, dearest readers. Yes, it is Easter Sunday. I believe it is just right to think and reflect upon the real meaning of Easter.
When we say Easter, normally what we think about is the Easter bunny and the colorful Easter Eggs. A few years ago, I wrote an article about these two symbols of Easter and how they are related to the resurrection of Christ. I wanted to rewrite that article here, but I thought of focusing on something else. Instead, I'd share with you the link to that article: What has The Bunny And Colored Egg Got To Do With Easter?
For today, I will share with you another edition of my Reflection Sunday.
Sometimes, We Need To Fail To Succeed
Originally, I wanted to use the title, "Sometimes, we need to die, to live." to connect this post to the Resurrection Sunday directly... However, I'm afraid someone might get the wrong message. Especially those who skim through articles. :D
Disclaimer
Before anything else, I would like to emphasize that I am not a preacher nor a Bible scholar. What I will share with you here is just a product of my own reflection and how I understood what I have read in the Bible and other articles related to this event.
Jesus Fell Three Times
On the way to Calvary, Jesus fell three times while carrying a heavy cross. Then again, he got up three times. At one time, a man named Simon helped him.
For me. this symbolizes that no matter how heavy our burden is, we must go on. We can fall down because of the burden that we are carrying, but we must not stop. When someone offers to help us, we must be humble enough to accept help from other people.
Death and Failure
Perhaps everyone's biggest fear is the fear of death. Just as we are also afraid of failure. Personally, the fear of failure is my biggest hindrance to achieving my goals.
For me, the death of Jesus Christ is a symbol of the biggest failure that we may encounter in our lives. The Romans, the Pharisees see it that Jesus failed in his attempt to start a rebellion against the Romans and their puppet government. Even his disciples, seem to have lost hope when they see Jesus suffer and died on that cross.
There can be a time in our lives that we feel helpless. Hopeless. We have reached the bottom and we see no way up.
The Resurrection - Rising Again From Failure
The way I see it, the resurrection is a message that all of us can rise up again from any failure. No matter how big is that failure. We don't die a physical death.
The resurrection is a symbol of hope to the faithful.
The apostles seemed to have lost hope when Jesus died. They remained hidden until they heard what the women reported to them that Jesus was no longer in his tomb.
No matter how big our failure is, we can rise again.
In Closing
Easter for me symbolizes a new beginning. A New Hope. (And I don't mean the Star Wars movie). We can rise again from any failure and proceed to attain our goals. Thus never fear failure. Learn from it and rise again.
Live a prosperous life. Happy Easter!
Thanks for reading.
