My grandfather cannot recognize us anymore This is a very disturbing blog for me because what I am about to share is about my grandfather who cannot recognize us anymore. Our grandparents had a crucial role for our developments. They are the ones assisting our parents when they are not around because sometimes they do volunteer as well.
Growing up with our grandparents are very lovely moments for me. I am a typical grandson who loves them dearly without reservation. I know some of you grew up without ever meeting your grandparents because they already departed in this earthly realm. However, how sad it is to know if your grandpa doesn't recognize you anymore? All because he was severely damaged by numerous accidents. Four years ago, I still remember when my grandpa was always showing us the motive of wanting to own an electric bicycle. It was popular since it doesn't require gasoline, all you have to do is recharge the battery and you can use it again. My aunt Venus who was working in Dubai asked my grandpa what birthday gift he would like to receive and he said, "I want an electric bike". We were all shocked by what he said, including my aunt. As you all know, electric bikes are quite pricey during that time since it's trending and sales are going up. But, my aunt and her siblings decided to share the amount needed and they accumulated around ₱30k. When my grandpa saw his brand new electric bike, he actually cried and said thank you. It's my first time seeing him like that in my 17 years of existence. He used it most of the time to go to the local market to buy chicken feed. We know how happy he is, truly evident on his face. However, the fun ends with a horrible accident. This happened when my grandpa went to our developing subdivision. He wakes up early in the morning to visit and check the updates there. One morning, we received a call from one of the local tricycle drivers who knew our family. He said that our grandpa had an accident on the main road. We were all shocked from the news we heard. We didn't tell our grandma the news because she might get a heart attack or something. So we hid it from her that morning until we verified the event. We discovered that he was hit by a motorcycle, and this motorcycle is not your ordinary one. It was a delivery driver from Shakey's. He was a kind and gentle person, I assumed. He didn't actually notice my grandpa turning because his phone chimes from the notification. It was too late to stop because he was inches away from my grandpa. Unfortunately, my grandpa hit his head and there was an emergence of blood clot. We immediately went to hospital for first aid and CT scan. Since then, my grandpa has been really so closed in an accident. The accident also happened four times, but he didn't die. A delivery driver from Shakey's, a delivery driver from Lazada, a hit and run, and another hit and run. Even if he didn't die in any of these accidents, it costs him the memories he had for us. We noticed that everyday, his memories are fading away. The memories he built on with us are just going away. Can you imagine? My grandpa doesn't even know how to turn on the lights in the bathroom because he always forgot where the switch is located. This happened almost everyday. Even my grandma is becoming tired of instructing him for over four years now. But, we cannot do anything because that has already happened to him. Thus, one time, my father went to my younger sister's school and he saw my grandpa walking on the sidewalk. So, my father stopped and reached for him. My father told him to come with him to go home because it's already lunch time. However, he was so shocked when my grandpa asked, "Who are you?". He thought my grandpa was joking around and making excuses not to eat. However, that's not the case anymore. He really forgot my father, his own son. Not only his son, but the entire family including me. That was horrible, I told you. I never thought that it would happen to one of my family where I only watched it on TV.
Despite our efforts to make him known and remember all of us, nothing happened. The good news is that he remembered someone dearly to him, only one. The person I am talking about is my grandma. Surprisingly, it was a miracle that the only person he still remembers is his wife. I guess true love never dies even if all the memories seem to be fading away. To be honest, I am teary right now. I just wanted to share this because I just missed the grandpa who used to tell us a story. The stories that enriched my childhood experience. Also, my grandpa is totally healthy and fine, the only problem is his memories. I love you, daddy! Thank you everyone for staying in the sponsors block. I am always be grateful to all of you. Cheers!
Hehe.
Awww This hurts so bad but I'm glad that your grandfather still remembers your grandmother. As you said, true love never dies. It shows that he loves your grandmother for real. Please make sure that you always take care of him
That is what we're very happy about because although he was not able to remember us all, at the very least he knew his wife is. We're always taking care of him. He's safe and healthy.
Naalala ko ying alaga kong matanda, lahat nakalimutan talaga niya, kahit yung pagkain ay nakalimutan niya ,maybe I will share dito yung experience ko sa pag aalaga ng matanda.
Trabaho mo po iyon or kamag anak nyo po ate? Hmm.
Andami na palang accident naranas ni lolo but still I can say that he is a strong person sa kabila ng nangyari sa kanya, the loss of his memory might cause from the accident at dala din cguro ng katandaan na.
Opo kuys,. I think lolo is 70 palang po.
Sad story but it could happen anytime to anybody especially to our grandparents, the fact that time will come they will not remember all the happy memories of being together
That's right ate. A very sad reality of being adult. Well we will all get there naman po kais talaga pero sana wag naman maging memory loss ang lahat. Masakit po masyado sa heart.
Pray lang lagi part lang yan sa buhay ng tao di naman mawawala ang sakit anjan lang yan sa ating puso dahil mahal natin ang isang tao,I feel you too Denn ganyan din nangyari sa lola namin
This is really a very sad situation. I wish your grandfather a speedy recovery. I don't know what to say, I'm so sorry
Thanks bro. I'm just glad you are there. Yeah, he's totally fine and good now. No, it's okay. I totally get it.
I'm so glad she's okay. Take care at him
I got this experience last year's Christmas. I went home and decided to visit my aged grandma. Though she's suffering from eye defects, so I introduced myself first and she asked me to introduce myself in details. Old age had really held her🤷
We cannot blame them for being adult since we all get there soon. You should be glad that she's alive and doing well. Anyway, how old your grandma is as of today?
Maluluha kana lang kapag nangyari like ganyan talaga kapag tumatanda na. Sad but true
Part of natural aging po kasi ang we know how much important they are in our lives. Hehe.
That's it, I think we should also thank God that we have time to spend with them. Although they are in aging still we are caring for them
Sorry about this, with time life will return to normal and he will recall all of you
That's what I am hoping for to happen. I think it will take a lot of time given the situation he was in right now.
I am sorry to hear about this bruh. Hugs for you and your fam.
Laging irresponsible drivers ang nakakahagip sakanya even if he's in the side driving his electric bike. Thanks so much po ate.
Opo ate. Sobrang mahal nya po talaga. Well, ganon siguro kapag true love ang natagpuan mo. Talagang may purpose pa sya why the Lord didn't get him to us.
Woah, that was intense yet honestly dangerous. What if he opened things and forget like cooking or plugged gadgets. Halla
That's really dangerous bro. You know, one time he actually cannot open the electric fan. Why? It's not plug in. Haha. It's quite funny, but what if he actually forget to turn off all the the equipments he turn on? Hmm.
I am so sorry to hear of your grandfather's accidents. I know what it is to love your grandparents. Like our parents, they are our anchors in this world. From your words, I can tell you love your grandpa dearly. It is good that he is alive and healthy, and I do hope that somehow he manages to regain his memories.
Regaining his memories are quite hard to do. We tried several times, but there's no progress at all. But, we are just happy that he is alive and kicking. Hehe. Thanks so much.
Oh, so sorry about your grandfather. It must hurt to have him not recognise you all anymore although it is sweet that he still remembers your grandma
Thanks friend. It truly hurts, but what we can do right? It's the process of aging and his accidents are added as well in that effect.
I am so sorry about your family's ordeal :( How old is your grandpa na? He still looks young in that photo.
The photo is recent. It was his 71st birthday ate. He's totally young pa po.
You should take care. I did not see my Grandpa.
Of course I am. I am always taking care of myself and you too as well bro. That's sad!
That's quite hurtful, but that's life I guess
Indeed. But we cannot blame him as well for he had numerous accidents on the road.
Yeah...
I am sorry to hear all about it. When my grandma got into hospital with a stroke she did not recognize us and she did not know where she was. I remember she saying, that be careful in the kitchen because it is wet. We were all in her ward next to her bed.
Oh my! That was so sad and traumatic for your grandma. You know, we had similar situation as well. If you haven't read, my grandma was stroke due to food consumption. Cholesterol and heat factors are the trigger.
Wow, I did not know that.
