Our Wild Imagination: The Mystery Behind the Lights
"Sometimes it's our imagination that creates bizarre things that often lead to fear and scary hallucinations. "
Hello, guys! How’s your day? Mine is not that okay (as always 😅) but I am glad that I can endure it. This emotion is making me numb over the course of time. I think that’s life, the pain will not always go away. It's just you will get used to it. Relate? Good. You’re normal.
So anyway, for today’s blog, I will share my mother and brother’s conversation about the mystery behind the lights of our neighbor. Your eyebrow may rise to this because who the hell will butt in about their neighbor’s light. That’s obviously not our business. Okay stay calm, let me explain.
To those who didn’t know, we live in a townhomes subdivision where houses are built between each other. This means, there’s a house back to back and side by side. These kinds of housing are common in rural areas since we are crowded.
Having that said, we have a neighbor at the back who temporarily abandoned their house to live in another place. I don’t know the exact reason why they left but the rumor is they found a better house.
Their residence was empty for several years, not until three days ago when we noticed that there was light.
Turned on lights=human presence.
Syempre naman sinong mag-oopen ng ilaw? hahaha
I just disregarded it because of who I am to care. I think the only reason why they visited their house is they are checking its condition or they are planning to sell it.
Several days passed when I noticed that the lights were left turned on. It is understandable that you will turn on your lights at night because obviously, it's dark. But the weird thing is, even in the broad daylight, you can see that it is turned on.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe there's a person inside and they just want to see their house well lit. But aside from that though, there's also a dark and wild side of me thinking that there's someone brutally murdered there and the suspect immediately left leaving the lights turned on.
Hays, this is the problem when you grew up overthinking.
But, I keep that thought to myself. I don't want to scare my brother, especially since our room window is in front of their window where you can see the lights.
One afternoon, while I was sitting at my computer, my brother asked me if I noticed our neighbor's light. Having no idea, I replied yes and asked him why. Then he reveals that he was starting to feel weird and uncomfortable with the lights coming from them at night.
After that, he joked that there might be someone murdered there and the suspect left immediately leaving the lights open.
I looked at him flabbergasted. We are thinking the same thing!
We know it's stupid to think that way but it's so funny that, coincidentally, we have the same speculation. Sometimes, people’s mental connection is mind-blowing; we create endless thoughts to seek answers.
We continued talking about that stuff, sharing other possible scenarios. What if one day, our speculation is true and we got interviewed for a documentary, what will we do, will we sleep in our room again, and such.
We didn’t close the possibility that maybe the owners just forget to turn off the lights when they left. But how irresponsible they are if that’s the case. That might start a fire.
My mother overheard our conversation and joined us. We shared what we are talking about and she just laughed. She also thought the same thing but she shrugged it off because for her, the brain is too powerful, and sometimes it's our imagination that creates bizarre things that often lead to fear and scary hallucinations.
She has a point. When it comes to paranormal occurrences, some are real and recognized by the church but we can’t deny that the majority of paranormal experiences are just the result of a wild imagination or maybe strong emotion.
Our minds finally felt at ease. And during that day, our neighbor’s light went off. I am planning to take a picture to show it to you but I am already late. We are thinking of two reasons; the light bulb burn out or someone turned it off. Coincidence? Maybe.
