“You can give your money for free if you already found out how to excrete gold.”

Money is one of the valuable things today. Almost everything in this world is connected to money. — basic necessities, to name a few. Without it, life won't be easy.

This is why as we grow up, we find ways to make a living. We became aware that this society is unfair to the poor— a bitter truth that's hard to ingest. Nobody wants to be treated poorly, so we work hard and do side hustles to lift ourselves from the suffering.

Earning money, especially in developing countries, is not an easy thing to do. Despite having a permanent job, the wage seems not enough to meet all of the increasing prices of commodities. As a result, some of us are forced to find an alternative source of income.

Knowing the struggles of surviving financially, what if one day you found out that your cousin just gave her hard-earned $400 (P20,000) to someone? What will you feel?

Due to the pandemic, several companies got bankrupt and had to lay off their employees. This has resulted in mass unemployment. And in my opinion, some of these desperate individuals have only one option left and that is to scam other people.

Just to clarify, I am not saying that the people behind scams are the same people who were unemployed during the pandemic. I mean, some of them just resorted to this field because they have no choice. There are still organizations bigger than them.

Scammers are people who do pretentious acts to manipulate their victims, usually to get something valuable.

My cousin got scammed

My mother informed me yesterday that my cousin intends to visit our home to get the money she borrowed. According to my cousin, this will be used as an additional fund to buy the iPhone Pro Max she saw on the Facebook marketplace.

I already find it suspicious when I found out that it only cost around $400. Usually, the price of brand new Pro Max is around $1,345, and around $800 for second-hand units. But I still gave it a benefit of a doubt since we don’t know the actual reason why the person is selling her smartphone.

Later in the afternoon, my cousin messaged my mother that she will not proceed with borrowing the money anymore. My mother wondered why, so she asked. Then after that, my cousin messaged our group chat telling us that she got scammed.

Everyone was frustrated. For me, it's a normal reaction because $400 is a big amount already. Anyone who heard that you just gave this amount of money for free, will think that you’re out of your mind.

“You can give your money for free if you already found out how to excrete gold.”, my cousin’s older sister said to her.

“But you’re not and it takes time before you get that amount of money.”, she added.

I told her to report the incident to the Bank so it can be traced and put the suspect’s account on hold.

When it comes to crypto…

In the crypto world, scammers are also prevalent. For instance, a project will appear out of nowhere and the developers will hype it up. People will start to invest, throwing their money without thinking if this is legit or what. Then a few days after, the developers will drain the liquidity pool, leaving the investors seeing their token go to hell. This is what we call rug pull.

I’ve been rug pulled a few times. Shout out to PIX RPG here on Smart BCH and Plants VS. Undead on BSC Network — you deserve a slot on hell.

Aside from that, I became a victim of a Ponzi scam. There was a website back then that every time you deposit BCH, the mining power will increase thus making you earn faster. That was so stupid that I believe in it. A few weeks after that, the website vanished out of thin air. Who remembers the BCHjolly.com? That’s what I am talking about hahaha.

Moving on…

I guess me and my cousin learned their lesson the hard way. We have no choice but to move forward and carry those experiences and perform better. Life is a trial and error setup, after all. These awful experiences will teach us valuable lessons. Lessons that we might use to be wiser.

However, to help yourself avoid experiencing the same thing that happened to us, you should also learn from the experience of others. It will help you to save lots of time and resources.

This remind me of losing $900 from Axie Infinity. I am wondering how scammers can sleep at night peacefully.

I suddenly remembered how my Tito Ninong got scammed last 2020, around October to November yata 'yun. He met a girl in Facebook daw, portraying as a rich foreigner who works as a soldier. Ayun, na-love scam for 35K. The bad thing is 'yung 9K ay niloan nila sa account ni Lola wherein co-maker si Mama. Tapos may isa pa na 3K na si Mama na naman finront nila~ ayun, akala mo na may amnesia. Kaloka! Si Mama nagigipit hanggang ngayon. Gusto kasi easy money eh~ 🤦🏻‍♀️

Didn't she find it suspicious nung nalaman niyang $400 lang? It was too cheap for an iPhone pro max considering na di pa naman masiyang matagal nung pag released nun. Hays, maybe we should also learn not to get swayed away lalo na kapag yung presyo medyo malayo sa reyalidad.

Naalala ko yung pega ko haha. Bumili ako nung kabayo worth $189 haha tapos sising sisi ako ngayon. However, I can't say that di ako nanghihinayang😢
