The wise man.
Hello my dear friends of reah.cash. Today I feel a little more encouraged to write. It is not that I am depressed or hopeless, I hope you understand it is that the pandemic situation for the first time touches me so close to my heart.
I have prayed for all the covid patients in the world but now I have several family members with the rawness of this scourge and my thoughts most of the day are in prayer and with them.
But I was listening to audios on my phone while caressing my dear Meme and I was captivated by an audio that is the one I come to tell you about today.
It happens that a wise man wanted to give an injury to one of his students and began to tell him a story similar to the following...
There lived a couple of elderly people in a house in a village. There they lived in extreme poverty, they had a house made of sticks of vines, with roofs of sticks and palm trees crisscrossed together. The surroundings of the house had few trees and the garbage of the place accumulated in several places, the people living in that home also looked very bare of belongings. They had faded, torn and wrinkled suits on their bodies.
Their body posture while walking did not give much to say either. They shuffled their feet and walked hunched over even though they were not old enough for their battered bodies to have taken that position, they simply lived sadly and with no desire to do anything.
They had only one possession, a cow. This cow was also skinny and gave them the only sustenance on which they lived, some milk.
In this way the couple dedicated themselves to take care of their cow, they gave her grass which they looked for in the surroundings, they gave her soft massages to her body and watered her for sustenance.
They were very poor but they had their cow and took care of her, but one day something unexpected happened and the cow was attacked by wild beasts and killed, the couple was devastated.
Very sad for the position in which they were left, without the only food that helped them to stay alive, because they knew they were poor but as long as they had their cow they would continue to live.
One fine day and seeing that they had to do something to survive they decided to clean the area around them and prepare the land to sow some seeds. As they were cleaning up they found some seeds that they had stored in all their mess.
They sowed in the soil they prepared and took care of their plants until the harvest came. They were able to eat and decided to go and sell some of their produce from the harvest with their neighbors.
The couple was very happy with the money they were able to make from the sale of the few products they sold. So they went to buy seeds of different vegetables and planted them.
There was so much produce that they harvested them, packed them, made preserves and sold many of them. This gave them a lot of money so they decided to fix the roof and walls of their home and expand and invest in their land.
Little by little they were dressing better and now they walked upright and without shuffling their feet. They were proud of their work and determination to get ahead and they succeeded.
Thus the sage was able to teach his disciple that some people do not risk leaving their situation of material poverty for the simple fact of not leaving their comfort zone. They are terrified of moving from one lifestyle to another.
Life led this couple to do without the only thing that kept their living situation in a precarious condition to have to find a way to live in a better way. It did so by taking away the only thing that kept them attached to their poverty, which was the cow.
By taking it out of their lives they realized that they had incalculable wealth around them and the little life that their comfort zone gave them did not allow them to see beyond it.
The tragedy that for them implied not having their only source of livelihood forced them to look for a better way of life and it happened that they had it before their eyes and an excellent way of living ahead of them.
Sometimes life teaches us in a cruel way to see beyond our noses and it forces us to look at alternative ways of progressing that we would never have seen before if we had not gone through personal tragedy first.
I hope this advice from the wise man will also help us to see beyond our comfort zone.
Thank you to all my readers, friends and sponsors. I love you all.
