No need to go to Japan for Sakura season because you can enjoy a similar sight in Ipoh and other parts of Malaysia. Actually, these are not cherry blossoms (sakura) but Tecoma. ๐ Malaysia is blessed to have Tecoma trees in many different states. In Ipoh alone, there are a few spots that are well known for these blooms also. #Ipoh

Today, I reminisce about my pre-COVID-19 life, when I used to take the first train out of Ipoh: 5am South-bound train to KL or 5.05am North-bound train to Butterworth. When I needed to make such runs, I hardly got any sleep as I would work a full day, then pack my luggage at midnight and hop to bed at 1am. Then I'd get out of bed at 3.30am, shower and everything and make my way to the train station. It was physically taxing but I was enjoying every minute of such a life. Iโฆ

It's been a busy Saturday morning, with issues at work that only got resolved after more than 15 hours and me having to scold the customer service representative for two rounds (last night and this morning), before it was settled. Mood was spoilt but food is life. So, today's lunch is ... tada... nasi lemak again. How long has it been since I have travelled? Short answer to a long story: WAY TOO LONG THAN I CARE TO REMEMBER! Today got me thinking of a pertinent question: If international borders were opened finally, which is the first country that I wished to visit, irrespective of whether I was inoculated. Today, I would like to share about this place called ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ง, in Borneo. Labuan is a Federal Territory of Malaysia and is a tax haven for international businesses. Fuyohhhh!!! This is my Shopee 4.4 shopping haul. Paid on 4.4 and received on 5.4. They can't be any faster! Ninja Van is super efficient. Every time I opt for Ninja Van, I need to be extra alert and be at my gate as soon as the van arrives. I was just saying in a comment of my previous post (now deleted) that every picture tells a story. Like this photo, I don't really want to post it because it's a simple plate of mixed rice. There's no food art, and it's not particularly memorable. However, this is a good example of a story behind a photo. The kingfisher comes visiting this morning, so this is a shot hot from my camera. There is this kingfisher that lives in my area. Sometimes, it sits on my fence, at other times, it hangs out at some other houses in the neighbourhood. I love seeing it in my area because it adds colour to our day. Obviously, this kingfisher is a stray, and it is kind of sad that it doesn't have a partner or bird of its same species, but it is not something that I can rectify for it. So, justโฆ

I visited ๐ฑ๐๐๐ ๐๐ back in Summer 2017 and spent about five days in Amman and other cities. What stood out for me was that almost 99% of the buildings in the places that I visited are of the same colour โ light brown / cream. The houses here are built with limestone and not painted over. Apparently, the limestone helps to keep the interior of the building cool during summer months, and warm during the cold winter. Every few years, the exterior needs only to be washed withโฆ

Usually, I just get one type of meat but I find that the portions are getting smaller and smaller, hence the double portions this time. Last evening, I had the opportunity to attend the wedding of a Nile Hippopotamus couple. Yup, you read right and your eyes didn't play tricks on you. HEHEHEHE Today, I am not talking about the wedding but about what I learned of hippopotamus through the event that I attended. ๐๐ข๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ? I visited Lake Toba only once, because frankly, once is enough. I took a flight from Ipoh to Medan, and then a bus from Medan to Lake Toba. After my trip, I showed a friend some photos from it and she told me, it was exactly the same as when she was there for her honeymoon back in the 1970s. DOH!!! And, just like during myโฆ

A little late today but breakfast is a MUST, even though lunch is just around the corner, hence it's just a light portion of bread toast and coffee. ๐ด๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ Lunch is this jumbo burger. It's an equally large mess eating it as everything falls apart. My mouth is not large enough to take one bite from top to bottom layer, that's why. So, I ended up eating bits and pieces of this and that and not eat like a "burger", if you can imagine. Yes, super messy but finger licking good. Yup, have to eat by hand. ๐ #Food

In my state of Perak, we have perhaps 20 days of public holidays in a year. Some other states have more, some may have slightly fewer. So, today is Nuzul Al-Quran.
