𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭 (𝐓𝐚𝐢 𝐒𝐡𝐮 𝐊𝐞𝐨𝐤 / 大树脚) Today, I came across this breakfast photo, which I took when a friend came to Ipoh for a few days for business last year, when there was a window for domestic travel. I introduced him to this stall famously known as 'Big Tree Foot' (or Tai Shu Keok in Cantonese and 大树脚 in Mandarin). This was my light breakfast, because it was my second round, while he was already full from eating dim sum near his hotel. Moreover, we had planned many eating places for him throughout the day. Hence, he had to leave some space in his tummy. Tai Shu Keok is well known for fried 'liew' and the popular drink from the neighbouring beverage counter is this red bean drink with ice cubes, as you can see in my photo. This photo is particularly significant today because Tai Shu Keok is one of the businesses that is affected by the COVID-19 Jalan Canning Estate Cluster and has to be closed for sanitisation. Tai Shu Keok is owned by a friend of my father. I feel bad for them as I know what a struggle it was for him to make a name not only in Malaysia but Singapore, too, and now this. #Ipoh
