I got an idea to write this article because of ate @Ruffa's article entitled "A Day with Parot" which she shares about the music she listen to. So, something came up to my mind. Thanks ate Ruffarotchi! Mwa. Haha.
We all do listen to music right? I know, even we don't want to but our neighborhood playing music everyday with a loud speaker, yeah including our neighbors XD. Here in our neighborhood I always hear "Pusong Bato" (Stone heart). I have listened to this song for many years! Maybe it's their favorite. Haha.
Okay, so because of them I will interpret this one first. I will just get the few lines that I'm going to interpret. You can leave your interpretation too below in the comment section because we have different interpretations, right?
Let's start.
Pusong Bato
by Jovit Baldivino
LYRICS:
Kahit sa'n ka man ngayon
Dinggin mo itong awitin
Baka sakaling ikay magising
Ang matigas mong damdamin
'Di mo alam dahil sa 'yo, ako'y 'di makakain
'Di rin makatulog buhat ng iyong lokohin
Kung ako'y muling iibig, sana'y 'di maging katulad mo
Tulad mo na may pusong bato
I guess this one is easy to interpret. It is like one person having feelings with someone and hoping that someday the feelings he had will be noticed by his loved ones. Because of the affection he had to that person he wasn't able to eat, maybe the reason is that he keeps thinking of the girl and every time he thinks that he will not be loved back as that person has a stone heart, he has no appetite as like "Am I not deserving to be loved?" "There's no reason to live, so what is the purpose of eating?". But still, he is hoping that if he will love someone again, has not have a stone heart! If I know a person like him, sorry to say this, but I will give him one slap, enough to wake him up from wasting his time on that person. Haha. Just kidding. I know sometimes being stupid makes us happy, keep it up. XD
A Place In This World
by Taylor Swift
LYRICS:
Don't know what's down this road, I'm just walking
Trying to see through the rain coming down
Even though I'm not the only one
Who feels the way I do
I'm alone, on my own, and that's all I know
I'll be strong, I'll be wrong, oh but life goes on
Oh, I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world
I interpreted this song for OFWs (I salute you all, you have my respect! Except those doing something bad, you know what I mean). I'm sad for those who's not receive proper treatment from their boss. Anyways, let me share my interpretation.
It's about a person who goes to another country so that they can provide a good life for their family even though they are not sure what awaits them there. Though she is not the only one who migrates to work, it is really hard to be away from family. So, they are all feeling alone as they can't be with their loved ones or family. But they are willing to sacrifice those loneliness and be strong as life must go on. Of course, as OFW, you need to find your comfort in the place wherever you are to fight the sadness.
Nakikinig ka ba sa akin?
by Ben&Ben
LYRICS:
Nakikinig ka ba sa akin?
Hindi kita gustong awayin
Pareho ang ating hangarin
Ang kadiliman ay basagin
Kung mayro'n kang pupurihin
Sige lang, gawin mo 'yan
Kung mayro'n kang babatikusin
Sige lang, gawin mo 'yan
Mahalaga'y bawat isa'y mapakinggan
I interpreted this song as between a government and citizens. To be specific, in these trying times. All of us have been suffering because of the pandemic. Government sets healthy protocols to be followed by the citizens but some of us didn't follow it. Like they are not listening to the government like hey, we both want to end this so we can be more free! Can you please cooperate? We are like a prison because of this pandemic. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pointing out those people who are still working despite the disaster we've experienced because they don't have a choice but to work. The help(ayuda) from the government is not enough. Aside from that, not everyone receives help from them. It is fine to praise someone and not bad to have criticism as long as it won't be destructive. Because criticism will help the government to improve. As long as they take it positively and not the other way around.
Something Just Like This
by Coldplay & Chainsmokers
LYRICS:
I've been reading books of old
The legends and the myths
Achilles and his gold
Hercules and his gifts
Spider-Man's control
And Batman with his fists
And clearly I don't see myself upon that list
I interpreted this one like a person that socialized and encountered different kinds of people with different personalities. A man that thinks he is nothing unlike other people with a talent. All the people he knew have been successful on something like extraordinary people because of the talent they have.
I guess this is enough, I don't want my post to be so long as some readers get bored reading it. Haha.
Question: What songs have you interpreted? Can you share how you interpret it? 😁
dziefem's note:
Stay away from those toxic people. Stay positive, but not in covid! XD
The opinions, suggestions and questions are welcome! If you want to teach me, I will be glad and appreciate it. I'm willing to learn, just be careful of using words because not all of us have the same perceptions. I hope you understand my point, if not, I can't do anything about it. No Hate. Just Love.
Thank you for reading! :)

I learned to interpret songs from my late grandmother who was good in composing Christian songs which she sang during Sunday services at aq pinapasulat nya ng mga composition nya, sabi q sa sarili q pra xang makata na malalim ang pagcompose. Kya minsan d q tinetake ang isang kanta by its lyrics literally but its message
