Fear
Have you seen people do audacious things, and it makes you wonder how did they do it? You ask yourself if they weren't scared or afraid.
For example, when you look at people who do extreme sports, like sky diving, or mountain climbing, those activities come with a lot of risks. They all seem fearless and it makes me wonder if were they born that way.
Another example of courageous people is those who speak up against the authority to ask for justice, especially in repressive situations or countries. People like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther Jnr, and so on.
When you read their stories one thing you keep asking yourself is how they became so courageous, and if fear was ever lurking in their minds.
According to Mark Twain:
"Courage is not the absence of fear; it is control of fear, mastery of fear"
The stark difference between a courageous person and a coward is that brave persons learn how to control fear, but cowards let their fear control them.
You see those people who take audacious steps or sports also have fears like you do. They aren't superhumans, and they don't have special capabilities. They learned to control their fears and emotion that might prevent them from doing the particular task they sought to do.
Fear is natural, and most times fear comes from ignorance.
For example, it is natural to fear electricity because the high voltage of electricity can kill. But, when you understand the dos and don'ts about electricity and usage you won't have fear of electricity. This is why Electricians don't fear electricity, but they are careful. Carefulness is quite different from fear.
How to conquer fear
People who are courageous today conquered their fears by doing the thing they fear. When you repeatedly do what you fear, the fear you have gradually decline and eventually disappears.
Another way to defeat fear is by believing in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself you shouldn't expect other people to believe in you. The high your self-confidence the high your ability to conquer whatever fear you have or experience.
Worry
When you have fear another thing that accompanies it is worry. Worry and fear are like sisters. When you worry too much about something it means you have fear its outcome.
Many times we worry about things, but most of the things we worry about never happen. Worrying yields no result or change of an outcome, if you are disturbed by something you take action to resolve it rather than worrying.
Mark Twain once said and I quote:
"I have worried about a lot of things in life, and most of them never happened."
Fear of failure.
Like in the poem I wrote below. Fear is defined as a trap for the mind. When you allow fear to control you, you trap your mind by believing you can't do something or something will happen to you.
In my poem, I said that perhaps failure is what modern man fears the most. It is true most of us fear failure, and this fear of failure made us not want to try out new things.
When you fear or worry about failing you won't be able to try anything new, and success or breakthrough doesn't come by trying old things but by venturing and learning new things.
Fear of failure has led a lot of people not to try new things or ideas. Failure is part of life, it is natural. if you fail that doesn't make you a failure. You only become a failure when you give up or you fail to try.
Remember nobody was born courageous, we all were born with fears. Brave people learn to control and master their fears, while cowards let their fears control and master them.

The electricity example got me. I used to marvel at those people on how they handle naked wires while there's light and it doesn't shock. I asked questions one day and I was told that there are some wires (connections) that only react if you join it with another wire. I bravely tried it one day and yaaaaah! It worked. Since then I feel like a pro🤗
