What I ordered vs what I got: Cake fails Hello read.cashers. How are you all doing. Well my day is going great. Today I would like to show you guys a compilation of some cake order failures. Imagine preparing for the perfect birthday party or even a surprise party for yourself or an important person, only for the cake you ordered to be brought in the worst state. It is disheartening right? Especially when they cake was ordered from an online store. Most people have experienced this cake bad luck, some choosing to share their sad encounter to the world and some keeping mute and mourning their loss of money. It pains to expect you dream cake delivered to you but end up getting the complete opposite. The truth is that it is not funny when you are the one experiencing this fail, but as a person who is not involved, you might end up laughing your ass off. I was once a victim of the menace of these fake online store. It was my elder sister's birthday and the family decided to throw her a surprise party. We wanted a duck shaped cake because she loved sucks so much. I was in charge of the desserts. I couldn't find someone to make the perfect cake, so I ordered online. It was a recommended vendor. The vendor was to deliver the cake on my sister's birthday. When he cake arrived, I was praising myself for having ordered the perfect cake. It was when I opened the cake box to take a look that I discovered I had been cheated. This vendor just put an old duck doll on top of a poorly iced cake. I couldn't even cry. My sister was understanding enough to accept the cake with a smile on her face. I couldn't even trace the online vendor and I trusted blindly enough not to make an emergency cake plan. I had seen a lot of cake order failures, but it never occurred to me that I could be a victim. I was too unhappy to even enjoy my sister's birthday party. I got an earful from the family after the party. The worst part was that the vendor disappeared without a trace so I couldn't get my money back. Ordering things online has made life easier but it is disastrous to experience a failure there. I saw this picture of an ordered crocodile cake and what was delivered, and I couldn't help but remember my own experience I can't help but think of how the celebrant or the person who ordered it would feel. Definitely not happy. It is better to order from tested and trusted vendors, or just go to the market and pick your product yourself to avoid experiencing these failures. You loose your money and probably your tears over a mistake that could have been avoided. Thanks for reading All images from Google

Twilight lovers "When the sun is below the horizon, we will meet at the river side". His words still echo in my mind. In high regard, I held his words. No darkness could quench the candle of hope his words kept burning in me. No breeze could blow away the ember of hope he lighted in me. His promises were worth more than gold, oh how I treasured them! Standing by the river side, I will wait patiently for his promise to be fulfilled. To hear him whisper sweet nothings into my ear as I blush and grace the river side with meaningless artworks from my toes. To feel his caresing breath on my bare neck and to feel again the pleasure of a forbidden love There were many things I never said to him If only I had known that the last time we were here would be our last, maybe, just maybe the unspoken words would be have been said Maybe I would have told him how much he meant to me how much of a wreck I am without his presence If only I had known that he would because close but unreasonable that he would take delight in another woman's hands that our time spent under the twilight meant nothing to him Then I would have have followed any sign any road to bring him back to me In the darkness of my heart, I still wait for his light If only I could reach out to touch him to bring him back home to me to let him know that my heart still beats for him that my body still longs for his presence that the heart he has shattered still beats That I still hope for what we were Twilight lovers Thanks for reading ❤️

Water is Life Did you know that humans can survive only 3 days to one week without water? This is solely dependent on the temperature as well as the condition of the person. A dehydrated person who is exercising can slump and die within a few hours. Water is one liquid that cannot be overlooked, unless you want to overlook your life. You may out grow intake of certain liquids, but definitely not water. Refusal to take water will lead to dehydration which will in turn cause certain damages to the human body. 90% of the human blood is made up of water. So when there is dehydration, there is a reduction in blood level which I'm a little low blood pressure. How high blood pressure can also occurs when the body's cells lack water. The brain will send a signal to the pituitary glad to secrete vasopressin, a chemical that causes the blood vessels to constrict and this causes blood pressure to increase which leads to high BP. Lack of water can lead to the damage of various cells in the body especially the liver which does the work of detoxifying the body. The human liver need enough fluid to be able to work properly and when this is lacking, the liver can become overburdened cause I was leading to damage to it as different residues which and wanted by the body can be logged in it. Dehydration can also cause constriction of the airways or lungs. This is because the body has recognised that there is excessive loss of water and thus tries to preserve as much water as possible by constricting the airways or lungs. When the lungs are narrowed, breathing becomes difficult and this can prove fatal to people who have history of asthma or other breathing issues. Healthcare providers will always stress on the importance of taking enough water for the good and efficient functioning of our body because water can't be taken for granted. It forms a huge part of your life. A whole lot of health benefits of drinking water that can never be overlooked. Apart from the ones I've mentioned above, enough intake of water can also help to reduce aging and tighten the skin. But also helps with energy. If you engage in sporting activities or other activities that requires burning of energy, you will see that when you take enough water your energy is replenished. Apart from the human body, water also has a role to play in nature. Plants need water to grow. The whole world is not a desert because there is water. All the greeneries you see around you we are able to grow because they have water to sustain them. Water also serves as a living habitat for some animals and fishes. Water is one basic will always be a part of our life. It can never be replaced. and the most important and beautiful aspects of it all is that God has provided it for us free of charge. You don't have to spend millions to afford it. It is available to everyone, rich or poor, young or old, and even the plants have access to it. `Thanks for reading 💖` `Lead image from unsplash`

Life is too short Today on my way back from work, I witnessed an accident. A motorist carrying two passengers fell in the middle of the road. No one hit him and he didn't even hit anybody. His bike just fell in the middle of a traffic filled road. I watched in horror as one of his passengers who fell in the middle of the road was almost ran over by a speeding vehicle. He was lucky enough to dodge the car. Not much injury was sustained by the motorist and his passengers after we had gone to help them. It was my first time witnessing an accident and trust me I never want to see one again. Infact, I choose to unsee the one I just saw. I do not know if I overreacted but I realized at that moment how precious and short human life is. I couldn't help but imagine how heartbreaking it would be to watch a loved one who is hale and hearty leave the house only for the bad news of his death to reach me. I can't even stand that idea. But that doesn't wipe out the fact that it has happened to many. I don't know how true the saying is that people die out there every minute, but why make trouble and fight over unnecessary issues when you do not know at what time you will breath your last. Why not use the opportunity you have at life to make every second count, not just for you but for the people around you. Leave an imprint on the lives of others who are around you. That way, when you are gone, your legacy will live for you. Life is too short to wallow in unforgiveness. If someone has really hit you on your soft point, done what you consider evil that you cannot make up your mind to forgive and let go, then you are caging yourself, dragging yourself backwards. Your whole thought is occupied with that unforgivable occurrence that your whole life will begin to revolve around it, especially when the unforgiveness is towards yourself. When you have refused to forgive a loved one for their misgivings and looses the chance to make amends when they are there with you, you begin to feel immense hatred and regret and begin to wish you could turn back time even if it is to say a word of peace to them. It wouldn't be worth it because the hand of time can't be reversed and those unspoken words will forever remain unsaid. Life is too short to harbour those hatred and self regret Remember that when you are gone, you become a dream to those that you left behind. You have the power to make that dream a vague one or an unforgettable one. You can only do this by leaving a legacy. To build a legacy, you need to build men. Build men who will scream your name when you are not there tomorrow. Build men and you will never be forgotten. It is said that he who builds people round himself is richer than he who builds money round himself. Your wealth will leave no impact for you but the men you have built will forever have your legacy installed. Life is too short to focus on the struggle alone, you will not be buried with it. It was there before we came and will be there after we are long gone. Do not let the most important people in your life become distant because you want to gain all the things of the world. Life is not double, so you may not have the opportunity to reconnect with them. Do not wait for tomorrow because you do not know what tomorrow holds. It might hold death or life. You never can tell. `I remain my honorable self @sylvan` Thanks for reading 💖 Lead image from unsplash

Any questions? Hi readlanders. How is your day going. Yesterday I was regrettably unable to post on the platform due to network issues. It was do frustrating that I couldn't have access to any of my social media accounts. I coul not even read for comment on other people's articles. It is still bad this morning but not as bad as it was yesterday. Hopefully I can accomplish somethings today. Yesterday was a very stressful day as we had to complete our home chores and network also came in to spoil the rest of the day. Mondays in eastern Nigeria has turned out to be a part of our weekends. This is due to the Monday lockdowns imposed on us by insurgent groups. Stepping out on Mondays is wishing for whatever misfortunes that may be brought your way. Yesterday was a Monday and so we had to spend it at home. My little cousin visited on Sunday and had to spend Monday with us. She is still in elementary school, so she was all vibes. We all say together telling stories of unforgettable evtebts during our elementary school days. I was a way of trying to cheer her up. She felt she was of less importance because she was the only one in getting house who was little and still in primary school. We had to sit round and cheer her up with our stories. After we were done telling her our happy experiences, she got motivated and decided to tell us of her experience with her History teacher. It was a funny one and I can't help but share it. According to her, their class History teacher was a Mrs Know-all. She claimed to know many languages and so would throw in foreign words when teaching them. She was a boastful teacher and she also claimed to know French, a subject the students found hard to learn. One day, Mrs Know-all entered the class after their French class and boasted again of her French knowledge. So after that class, she said to them, "Any question?" So my cousin and some of her classmates decided to test the history teacher's knowledge of French. They asked her the meaning of 'au revoir'. She replied by telling them that it means 'thank you'. The students began to laugh after my cousin corrected the teacher that 'au revoir' means 'goodbye'. The teacher started to argue with them and soon called the French teacher to clear the air. The French teacher came and told them that 'Au Revoir' means goodbye. Ever since then, the History teacher stopped boasting to then of her knowledge of many languages. We laughed so hard after hearing my cousin tell her story. She was lucky enough that the History teacher did not punish her but instead accepted her misinterpretation. Some teacher would just enforce the knowledge that 'Au Revoir' means goodbye instead of accepting corrections. We told other stories to my cousin and we were finally able to completely cheer her up. She taught us never to ignore her no matter how busy or stressed we were. We made her fell unwanted and unimportant through our actions. Though we did not do it deliberately, we still hurt her feelings. Thanks God she spoke up and we were able to clear her self doubts. Thanks for reading 💖

What I ordered vs what I got: fashion fails Shopping from online has made things easier for us. No matter how busy you are, you can spare that little time to pick your phone and order virtually anything you want to buy. Easy life, right? But imagine putting your all into preparing for an important event. You order your dream cloth for the event online, only for it to arrive and you end up in tears. Trust me when I say that you will feel like murdering the online vendor but there is nothing you can do about it. So online shopping comes with it's disadvantages. It is hard to find a trusted vendor for your online shoppings. If you are not lucky enough, the vendor might disappear with your hard earned money or even deliver something that is extremely out of your expectations. Today, I would like to talk about some what I ordered vs what I got fashion fails that has got the victims in premium tears. Laugh along with me. These are a list of some fashion fails I downloaded from Google This lady obviously ordered the beautiful looking gown on the right, but just look at what was delivered to her😂😂. One would think that she is tying a wrapper over her chest or something. The only thing to write home about the dress is he woven hand. I can't help but imagine the kind of big event this yellow dress was ordered for. The only thing that seems to connect this two dresses is just colour. The vendor sure deserves some spanking because WTF. I can't even comment on the dress. I don't even know who to blame for this. Maybe the customer for not specifying the clothes size, or the vendor for just selling out the size she had. My advice to the customer; give the dress out. I feel that most people who order clothes online refuse to consider that not everything is meant for them. Though the black dresses are not thesame, but I can't help but imagine how the black gown would have fitted. People have different body sizes and what fits me might not fit you. Various clothes are made for various body sizes and shapes. That's why it is important to consider your shape and the shape for which the cloth you are ordering is meant for. If the shape is not right, then don't order it. You might end up in regretsif you do. Also, shop from a trusted vendor to avoid telling stories that touch the heart. All people can do is look at the picture you posted online from what you've ordered fails and laugh their guts out Thanks for reading 💖 All images from Google

Lost at sea Today I decided to task myself into doing something different. I'm a lover of poems but never gave it a go. So I decided to write a poem myself. This right here is my first poem. I do hope you like it ***Lost at Sea*** "Sail", He said "Sail and make exploits, sail until you reach the shores back to me" To each and every one of us He gave the instructions. The vast sea of undiscovered treasures He had let us all sail in To each his boat and paddle He sat patiently at the shore To watch but not meddle in our fishing and exploits Awaiting our arrival With his invisible hands he holds up the boats that has turned wobbly We were all meant to meet Him after we must have docked our boats At the shore Who would have thought that many would be lost at sea? That the desire to find all the hidden treasures of His sea Would lead many to dock in the deepest part of the sea? That many trusting sailors would be lost at sea because they trusted blindly? That some would choose to be lost at sea because they deny the existence of the shore? "None of my sailors would be lost at sea", He says Therefore he sent search parties to being back those lost at sea But what did lost sailors do? They stripped and shamed the search parties They robbed them of their boats and drowned them at the deepest part of he sea The survivors they sent back in battered form to Him but he would not give up "None of my sailors would be lost at sea", He still says. He also sent me but my boat never docked I thought I was sailing towards the shore but I got lost at sea in a quest for more treasures Now I try to find my way back to Him at the shore The tides are high and the treasures in my boat leaves it at the brink of wreck But no I won't tire One by one I will lighten my boat For what is the worth of the treasures I have gathered If my boat capsizes and I don't reach the shore Lost at sea Thanks for reading Lead image from unsplash

Blind date Mom had always pressured me to at least bring a man home. To her, I was not getting younger anymore. My younger sister was already married with two kids. Not like I cared anyway. I just wanted to take life as it comes. No rush. Soon, the pressure began to weigh on me. I had to even contract guys to take home as boyfriends. I just wanted mum off my back. Each time I brought a guy, she would demand that we get married and start giving her grandchildren. I soon gave up on contracting guys because I wasn't ready for a marriage contract. One day, mum came knocking at my door. According to her, the son of her childhood friend just came back from abroad and was in need of a wife. Mum thought I was the right candidate. I didn't want an earful so I decided to give the man a chance. We just had to go on a blind date to decide if we were right for each other. Then we could decide if we were good for each other. Mum put extra effect in preparing me for the dinner. The whole day was spent making preparations for the date I felt like a doll in her hands. She wanted a perfect dinner for me. I know she meant we'll for me but the pressure is becoming too much. I needed a break bit couldn't voice it out. I don't want a crying mother. She is that dramatic. Soon,it was time for the date. Mum wanted to take me to the restaurant but I had to decline. That was too much. I just took a cab to the restaurant. When I walked in, I saw a handsome man sitting alone at a table. He appeared to be waiting for someone. It was a blind date, so I figured he was the one. I walked up to him... We were so into each other that we didn't bother to introduce ourselves. It was like he was made for me. The date wasn't a bad idea after all. We made conversations and I couldn't help but like him. Our perfect date was interrupted by a lady who walked up to us and demanded if my date was Mike. She introduced herself as Lucy, who was supposed to be on a blind date with him. It was then I realized something. My blind date's name was Charles not Mike. What an embarrassment. The handsome Mike looked at me with surprise written all over his face. I guess he saw how shocked and embarrassed I was. His next action gave me the real shocker. He asked my name and I embarrassedly told him I'm Juan. He then told Lucy that she must have gotten her facts wrong. He denied being Mike. He claimed that maybe he looked like Mike, thus confusing her. The girl left with suspicion written all over her face. Looks like she researched this Mike very well. I apologized for mistaking Mike as my date, but he said we could turn it into a real date. Turns out he liked me too. He drove me home and even took my contact number. He wanted another date with me. It was the following day that I realized that Charles did not even make it to our date. Mum said he had an emergency to attend to and was unable to call. Charles turned out not to be my kind of man. I went on many beautiful dates with Mike. Today, I'm glad to say that my blind date with Mike has led to something fruitful. I'll be going to check out my wedding dress next week. My blind date is a story I will never stop telling my children in the future Thanks for reading my fiction

Never again ***Fiction*** As a little boy, everyone called me *'play play*'. It was a perfect description for a ten year old me. I loved to play more than anything but not anymore. In case you are wondering, I'm still ten. I developed hatred for playing around as a kid last week. Last Thursday was the worst day of my life. *A quick recap on my playful life* Mom always complained that I've worn more school uniforms than my elder sibblings even though they stated schooling long before I did. I go to school wearing a neat uniforms but comes back looking as dirty as a pig. I come back either barefooted or with cuts thorns. I'm the last kid to go home after every school day. I can't miss any football moment on my way back from school. I can't count how many slaps I've received from mum over my inability to say no to every spirit of playfulness. She would say that no amount of creams in the world can smoothen all the scars I got from playing in rough manners. *Last week Thursday* I came back from school looking my usual. I had no time for lunch because I had seen some of my stubborn friend playing football along the road. I just dropped my school bag and rushed out to play with them. After we were done playing football, I and two other kids decided to go pick wild fruits The other kids were too scared to go on this mission, so they went home. We came back from our wild fruit picking when it was already dinner time. By that time, I was tired and hungry. My school uniform was already stained with juice from the various fruits I picked. It was the first time I stayed out till dinner time. Mum must have looked everywhere for me. When I got to our compound, I was horrified to see dad's car. He was a soldier and so lived away from us. I dared not misbehave when he was around. I knew I was done for. Why would he come visiting on a day like this. I watched my life flash by in my eyes when he came out of the house with my crying mum. She must have thought I got lost from wandering around. Long story short, dad showed me a glimpse of what military training looked like that night. I'm still recovering from the tussle with Dad that night. The good boy mode in me has been activated since then. I can't risk another experience with dad Thanks for reading😍 Lead image from istock.com

Prompt: Who would I change my life with if given a chance I chanced upon an article by @McYusuf which he got the idea of from Hive. You can see his article here:who-would-you-change-your-life-with. I mean it is a question that looks simple but attempting to answer it will give you a glimpse of how hard it is. https://read.cash/@McYusuf/who-would-you-change-your-life-with-79742bdc We all had that phase in our lives when we wished to be like other people or even live the life they live. Most times when life begin to show us pepper, we can't help but wish to have the life of others who are in better positions. I still wish to be like some persons in terms of positivity, that's why we have people as role models. In answering the question, if I'm allowed to swap my life with another person, I would give a strong NO to that. People, I've learnt are best admired from a distance. Come too close to them and trust me, they begin to loose value. I rather appreciate them from a distance than be them. I've got lots of baggages on my own and I wouldn't want to deal or even live with another person's own. When I think of swapping life with another person, I can't help but think to myself; what if this person is just fronting the best side of him? What if his personal life is filled with demons he can't deal with? What if he is evil but doesn't show that part of himself to you? I might even be better than that person without knowing so. There is a saying that the devil I know is better than the angel I don't. So let me just stick to myself and take life as it comes my way. I might not be cut out for the life challenges faced by the person I might want to swap life with. If that persons life is full of sweetness, let him wallow in it. I'll gladly appreciate the one I have, whether sweet or bitter sweet. Lead image from unsplash

Never Give up We all have one thing or even a list of things that we would like to achieve. They might be temporary or even long term, but most times we face hardships trying to achieve these. I watched a movie recently, titled 'Looking for Bami'. Bami' is a Yoruba word for father. The female lead of the movie was a die-hard tomboy who was set at making her enstranged father know about her existence. She experienced lots of difficulties but never gave up. Her father was a city boy who deceived a village girl and got her pregnant, he then relocated to the city where he became extremely rich. He didn't know he was a father and the mother of his child waited patiently for his return to the village which never happened. It was on her dying bed she saw a TV show about her daughter's father. She showed her daughter the man. The daughter was happy to have finally see her father. She gave herself one mission which was to at least make the man know that she existed. She went to his workplace severally but was rejected by the father who claimed he had no child and was unwilling to see her. The girl was persistent and waited diligently at the man's office gate everyday until she was arrested by the police for being a nuisance. She still never gave up even though her friends and people from the slum where she lived laughed at her. She didn't want any emotional attachment with the man, she just wanted him to know that she existed. She took all the humiliation hauled at her, until finally her father acknowledged her existence. Imagine what would have happened if this girl decided to stop pursuing her father because it was becoming a hard task, he wouldn't have known of her existence Sometimes we let go of advantageous things in our lives just because we hate to stress ourselves. We then forget that nothing in this life comes easy. You have to put in the extra work and persevere. Many of the successful individuals we see around us were once mocked but because they never gave up, those things they were mocked for led them to achieve great heights. I know a man in my vicinity, he started by picking rusted irons along the road. Everyone called him mad but he knew what he was after. Today, he has expanded on what he does. Small boys now pick these irons, metals and the likes for him, while he does the exporting. He has built a mansion from what we all called stupid Just know your goal, what you have set to achieve. Then never give up. Who knows. Your break the might come from there. Thanks for reading. Lead image from unsplash

Double Dating Today was supposed to be a happy day for me and my family. I would be joining them after spending 3 years away in the big city. Not like they knew I would be coming home. It was a planned surprise. I missed my elder sister so much. She would be the most surprised to see me because when I spoke to her on the phone yesterday, I told her I wouldn't be coming home any time soon. It was during that phone call that she told me he brought home a man. They had known each other for two years. He was based in the city but occasionally made time to visit and build a relationship with her. He was already going to marry her and just needed to meet and familiarize with her family. I was so happy for her. When I got home, I could hear the laughter from inside the house. It looked like they were eating lunch. When I pressed the door bell, I could hear daddy's gruntled voice saying, "who is disturbing our wonderful family lunch". My younger brother opened the door and was surprised to see it was me. He shouted, "big sis is back" but was shouted at by Dad who said, "allow who is in the city to enjoy her studies. Don't make me miss her by calling her name anyhow". Such sweet dad. He was shocked when he heard my voice saying it was really me at the door. Trust him to leave the dinning room to come check if it was truly me or an imitation. He gave me the biggest hug. My mood changed to shock and disbelief when I was led into the house by Dad and little bro. Sitting on the dinning with my sister was my worst nemesis. He still had that crooked smile on his face. The smile he had deceived and hurt me with in the city. The smile faded from his face when he saw me. Before my sister could register her surprise over seeing me all of a sudden, I asked her if the guy sitting at the dinning missed his road or he was her soon-to-be husband, the one she claimed to have dated for two years. I was shocked when she replied in the positive. That guy was my boyfriend as well. I also met him two years ago in the city. He was sweet and nice to me until we moved in together last year. He would beat and later apologise with gifts. Sometimes, he spent weeks outside and my questioning him would result to assult. He would tell me sweet words to gain forgiveness and I would forgive him. He went out from the house last week and I finally had the time to think about my life. I decided to come back home to my family and never go back to that monster, but unexpectedly, he is thesame sweet boyfriend my elder sister was talking about. My sister noticed the way I was staring at her supposed boyfriend and so wanted to know if I had anything to do with him or knew who he was. I couldn't even reply her. I looked at the bottle of wine kept on the dinning table and I knew that no prophet was needed to foretell that a certain guy would be spending at least three months on a hospital bed.
