I regretted…

And so I’m here again writing something after a month or more. I’ve been out thinking that I have enough BCH for my future or should I say for my daughter’s future. But then I realized that I’m wasting my time knowing that I can accumulate more. Silly me. 😅
So how was everyone today? We’ve saw BCH under $100 mark and now its up again and maybe we can go farther on the next coming days. Btw, did you bought the dip? I hope you did. 😉 So much about this, so the question is what to write right now? 🤔 I started this article like I’m regretting about not accumulating more BCH when I have the time. So lets talk about regrets.
Have you ever regretted something? Like you didn’t do something that you regret it now or you should have say it but you didn’t and now you regret it? Me, I have. And it’s a long list.
I regret not saving money before. When I was young, we have been spoiled by our grandparents. Giving us so much that we needed too. I remembered when I was in elementary school, I have 20 pesos as a pocket money. Sure it was small now but that was 20+ years ago. If only I have save half of that money every day, I would have living a better life now.
I regret not doing good in my high school years. I graduated as a salutatorian on my elementary school so I’ve been placed into a higher section on my high school year. But, I didn’t do well because I’ve become lazy and got influenced by my other peers. Well, I’m not blaming them. I’m blaming myself. If only I attended all my classes, if only I studied well maybe I did great right now.
I regret not finishing my college year. Don’t get me wrong. I graduated college already. What I’m talking about is that I stopped studying in college for 3 years before attending it again. I wasted those 3 years doing nothing. So what if I did finish my study on time? Maybe I could have a better life.
There are more that I regretted in this life. But what is one is done. The good thing about this regrets is that I learnt something. Maybe I can’t bring back what I have done wrong but I can tell it my daughter. So that she won’t do the mistakes I did before.

Joystick.club: Is it worth it?

Hey everyone! How are you doing? I hope you are all fine despite of this red market for the past few days. What about me? Still managing to revive my downed portfolio because of Joystick.club. By the way, speaking of Joystick.club, there is an ongoing event that started on May 30 and will last until June 6, 2022. This event will give you 2x the rewards when you play any game under it while holding 2 Joybot NFTs. 2x rewards means you can earn as much as 1.2$ worth of BCH and as low as 0.36$ worth of BCH. Great, right? You pay 0.25$ worth of BCH every game and you can earn like free BCH. But remenber, it is for a limited yime and will be back at 0.6$ as max reward and 0.18 as minimum reward after the event. So here is the question, is it still worth it to buy Joybot NFTs?
Maybe some of you knew that Joybot NFTs are one of the priciest NFT to mint. It would cost you 500 $JOY token (0.32BCH as of this moment) to mint at least one. So if you wanted to play and wanted to get a chance to earn max rewards, you need at least 1000 $JOY token to mint 2 Joybot NFTs. That means you need 0.64BCH. Pricey! Indeed, it is. But is it worth it to spend BCH on it? For me, I can say that it is worth it even on short term and long term. Why did I say so?
First, I minted 4 Joybot NFTs before the launch of joystick season 3. It cost me 0.04BCH each at that time. So my Joybot NFT right now is worth 8x its price before. As you can see, Joybot NFTs will be more expensive as minting goes by because of $JOY token is used for minting. Let’s say, one person buy $JOY token to mint NFTs, this would make $JOY token increase its price up. So every time a Joybot of minted, the pricier it gets.
Second, Joybot NFTs is under BCH so it should serve its purpose - the usecase. Joybot NFT is used by players to get maximum rewards in the game and it can be staked too to earn another native token of Joystick.club which is $POINTS. This $POINTS would serve as a ticket to mint other NFTs under it. It’s like a ticket which you can exchange it a counter in the arcade game to get a prize.
Okay, I knew that it still not convincing to ibvest in this project. So lets do the math.
0.64 BCH is worth around 117$ as of this moment and you need to pay 0.25$ worth of BCH each time you play a game.
Imagine that a person invested on joystick.club is a good gamer and can earn max reward which 0.6$ each time he plays. That’s a profit of 0.35$. So that person needs to play 335 games for him to return his investment. As for me, I can play at least 30 games per day and almost get a max reward all the time. So I just needed 11 days to play and my investment has already been returned.
Okay. I won’t be bias. I’ll also tell the downside of joystick.club.
You need also to invest time. If you are a busy person, can you manage to play 30 games or more per day. I, for myself needs at least 7-8mins per game to get the max reward. 30x7= 210minutes of playing time. And take note, no one knew what score should you at least get to earn max reward. so you should explore it for yourself
You need to be a good gamer. As I said earlier, there is a chance that you can get a minimum reward. I can’t promise that each time you play, you can get a max reward already unless you are a pure genius on arcade games. Here’s a tip: try all games and feel what you think would be easy for you to practice. Promise you won’t regret it.
Glitches. Okay. The games are still developing to add more games so sometimes you might encounter a bug. But don’t worry, joystick.club developers can be easily approached. You just need to report it to the telegram group and will see to it immediately.
For me, joystick.club is a must invest project under BCH. It is an opportunity to grow your own portfolio.

Do you wanna get wet all day?

What’s up everyone? Before I start this article I want to apologize for the title. It may sound green but trust me this article is wholesome. So let me ask you again, do you wanna get wet all day?
So I’m talking about the festival in Lucban, Quezon. Take note that it isn’t the famous Pahiyas festival. It is about the Buhusan festival which is celebrated every Easter Sunday to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Buhusan festival isn’t a festival until 2017. It was just a way of the people to celebrate Easter Sunday. Inflatable pool in front of their houses and lots of water gun fights. So in 2017 wherein the municipality of Lucban announced that Buhusan is now a festival, it became more bigger and grandeur. There is now a party at the center of Municipality of Lucban wherein different DJ performs. People can party all day there with so much water pouring from different side.
So when there is a festival, there is food and drinking. Lucbanins are hospitable and joyful people. I remembered the first time I attended the festival, all people we walk pass were telling us to eat or drink even though they don’t know us. And of course, we can’t avoid being the water splashing.
Reminder:
if you are just passing through the municipality of Lucban on this kind of day, make sure to close your windows to avoid getting wet
make sure to put your gadgets and money to a plastic or dry bag to avoid it from getting wet
be a considerate person - don’t get mad when someone splashed you water. Think that this is the way of how Lucbanins celebrate their festival
Buhusan festival is again celebrated this year after not getting celebrated in 2 years because of the Pandemic. I was on rest day on that day so I decided to go. From Lucena city, we rode a jeepney to reach Lucban. The drop off is kinda far from the municipal proper because all four wheeled vehicle is now prohibited entering the town proper of Lucban. We walked and as we enter the town, we can see that lots of wet people are walking and enjoying their time. Well, of course, we are getting splashed by water from different people as we walk and that is okay. We went here to get wet. Lol
As we arrived on the town proper, huge amount of people are gathered dancing and shouting with the beat of the music the DJ is playing. It is so much fun to see this kind of scene because in my mind, the pandemic is nearing its end. We joined the party, drink and dance until we dropped. Lol
After partying, we went to my Aunt’s house and there we can see a huge inflatable pool. She went out to greet us and offer us some foods and drinks. By the way, we still didn’t changed our clothes because we knew that splashing of water isn’t over. There are people who are walking around their neighborhood who had water guns and “tabo” and they would splash anyone they see that isn’t wet.
All in all, I enjoyed so much the festival and especially getting wet all day. 😹
So if you wanna get wet all day, I’m inviting you to try the Buhusan festival in Lucban, Quezon next Easter Sunday next year. It will be worth it, I promise.

Dumaguete Trip: Apo Island adventure

Hello guys! If you read my previous articles, you’ll already have an idea what this article is about. I’m gonna share today what happened on our third day in Dumaguete. But before anything else, joystick.club has anither minting event presenting SmartBabies. You can mint your own personal smartbaby with just only 10 JOY token. Staking of this cute babies are on development and for sure it would also be a blast. So back to my original intent, let’s go!
We decided to visit the Apo island in Dumaguete. It is called Turtle island because it is best known as a turtle sanctuary in the area. Guest can do snorkeling together with green turtles and hawksbill turtle.
Before we got to the island, we travel by land with a van to go to the port for almost 40 minutes. And there we rode a small boat getting to Apo Island.
The travel from the port to the island is about 1 hour. It was cloudy that day but good thing that the waves aren’t too big.
The water is clear when you get to the island. But be careful when getting down on the boat because the sea floor are made of big rocks which are slippery.
The seashore isn’t like the other beaches here in the Philippines. No fine sands to be found but it is white because of the stones and shells.
The picture above is the area where you can snorkel with the turtles. Don’t worry if you don’t have any snorkeling gear because there are available gears there. You’ll just have to pay a certain amount to use it. And for those who can’t swim like me, there is a guide that will be accompanying you while you are holding on a “salbabida.”
I was amazed on what I saw under the sea. Beautiful fishes, coral reefs and of course the giant hawksbill turtle. It was huge that sometime I got afraid especially when it is swimming towards you. Too bad that I didn’t got a picture of the scene underwater because even if my phone is water resistant, the guide told us that it is better to be left because it might get lost. (I think I need an action cam for my next adventure. Lol)
So after swimming with the turtles, we just took some pictures around the area. Sorry if the quality isn’t good, ☺️
We called it a day at exactly 3pm. We rode again the boat back to the port.
By the way, the Dunaguete trip wouldn’t be complete if we won’t taste the Silvannas. Dunaguete is well known for this chewy and sweet delicacy. There are different flavir like butter, ube, choco, strawberry and pandan. But I love the most is the ube flavor.
So that’s what happened on our Dunaguete trip. And if given a chance, I would definitely visit on this place again.
Dumaguete Trip: Our Second Day

How’s everyone doing on this bloody market today? As I always hearing, red means opportunity. I just hope that it wouldn’t go down so deep. Anyways, I want to share today what we’ve done on our second day in Dumaguete. On our second day in Dumaguete, we’ve decided to do the Valencia trip. It was called Valencia trip because the places we will visit are found in the Municipality of Valencia.
Just like in Siquijor, we have hired a tour guide and a vehicle to go to the places in Valencia. We got a multicab vehicle so that we can ride at the back to see all the beautiful scenery along the road. So here are the place we have visited during that day.
Our first stop is on this place where smoke comes out on the ground. Those smokes came from sulfur and I’m warning you of the smell. You might think that someone in your group farted. Lol. 😂
Our next destination is the twin falls called Pulangbato. If you wanted an instagrammable picture, this is the best place you can take picture. The bracelet given to us means that we are tourist that are visiting the place.

You need to cross this bridge first before you can get down to the falls. Here are some of my captured pictures featuring the hanging bridge.
Okay. Two is enough. Lol. This is I think the most beautiful picture I’ve captured.
Now, the main attraction is this falls. The water is freezing cold and a little bit strong because of the rain that night. Stones are colored red because of the sulfur and I’m warning you guys that do not wear light colored shirts because the water can stain it. By the way, if you are afraid of the water falls getting stronger and might harm you, don’t worry because there are swimming pools around with the same water coming from the falls.
Moving on to our next destination is a private resort with multiple swimming pools.
The pictures above are just some random pictures taken on the resort that we visited. Didn’t uploaded all because this isn’t facebook. Lol
We have eaten our lunch on a karinderya near the Municipal hall of Valencia. The Salmon belly kilawin is one the dishes in Valencia that caught my taste. Sorry, I didn’t got a picture of it because I’m too hungry to do it.
After eating our lunch, we also visited a private museum. No entrance fee is needed just a donation. The antiques that can be seen on the museum are mostly from the Japanese-American war in the Philippines.
We have a chance to talk to the owner of the museum. He was so friendly and at the same time funny. He gives us trivias about the different antiques that can be seen in his collection.

Dumaguete Trip: Our First Day

Hello everyone! So I just wanna share today what happened on our first day in Dumaguete City.
We arrived in Dumaguete City exactly 6AM last April 1, 2022. And our first destination is where we will be staying for four days. It was located 20 minutes away from the airport. We rode a tricycle to get there. I knew that tricycle is one of the primary means of transportation here in the Philippines and it was so good to see different types of it. What I mean is it’s sidecar. The tricycle in Dumaguete can load up to 8 persons unlike here in our place where the maximum person it can accommodate is four.
Upon checking in to the place where we will be staying. We immediately unload our things and prepare for our first destination which is the island Siquijor. We need to go to port (pantalan is what they call that place in Dumaguete), ride a RoRo (a big boat) to get to the place. It would take us 1 and a half hour to reach Siquijor.
We reached Siquijor at 12 noon and we need to get to the maximized the 5 hours to get to the places we wanted to see because we need to travel back to Dumaguete before 6pm. By the way, we have contacted a tour guide who will get us to the places via Van beforehand.
So our first stop of course is the signage that tells us that we are on the island of Siquijor. 😊
Next is this beautiful white sand beach. We decided not to swim because of the intense heat. (Sayang ang kojic. Lol)
This picture was taken on a spring which is open to all the people who wanted to swim.
We also got a chance to try a fish spa near a Balete tree. Old tales says that there are mysterious creatures living on a Balete tree. But all I saw is fish. 😝
We also visit the church but this acacia tree caught my attention. It was huge and probably a century old tree.
You need to go down a stair before you can reach this place. Exhausting but the cold water from this series of falls is worth it.
Our last destination is this beach resort. Look at the clear water. It was like tempting you to swim on it. Too bad that we didn’t got a chance because it is close for any water activities on the time we have visited. All we can do is took a picture and be amazed on the scenery.
I almost forgot to include this, this is the place where we ate our merienda. It was called pande-saya. All breads are baked on this pugon and the people who are selling it don’t understand Tagalog. Good thing is our tour guide saves the day.
Our day tour has ended at exactly 5:30Pm and I can say that it was worth it and at the same time “bitin”. So for everyone who wanted to go Siquijor I advised you to go early so you can take tour time enjoying the scenery.
We arrived back in Dumaguete City at 7:30pm. Eat on a “karinderya” and decided to call it a day.

It’s a plane

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I last wrote something here on read.cash and I think I’ve also missed a lot of opportunities in the crypto space. I’ve been busy for the whole month of April outside the crypto space. So from now on, would love to write again everyday here. So another welcome I guess? 😅
Since the pandemic, I didn’t got a chance to visit places to enjoy and relax. So when place restrictions I immediately grab the opportunity to book a flight on the place I wanted to visit a ling time ago - Dumaguete.
Our flight was scheduled on April 1 at 5:45am. Due to limited transportatiin in our place, we decided to travel to Ninoy Aquino International Airport on the last trip - Lucena City to Manila. The trip was at 10pm and it would take us 3-4 hours to get to the airport via bus travel to get to the airport. Too early? It’s better to be early than miss the trip that I wanted for so long. We arrived at the airport at 2:30am and just waited there until the boarding in the plane. By the way, that was my first time riding a plane so I was excited and nervous at the same time. The Manila - Dumaguete trip via plane would take 1 hour and 10 minutes.
When we onboarded the plane I was seated near the window. Better view. Yahooo! Sorry, as I have said, it was my first time. Lol. So the plane took off at 5:50am and our expected time of arrival was 6am. It was a thrilling experience to me, it feels like I rode a rollercoaster when the plane took off on the ground. But that nervousness was changed by amazement when we are up in the air. Saw the beautiful sunset along with the beautiful clouds.
After looking for some time outside the window, I took the chance to take a nap because after arriving in the city of Dumaguete, we will immediately go to Siquijor. I feel asleep and just woke up with the sound of a person on the intercom that is announcing that we have arrived on our destination and we are now ready to land. It was 6am when the plane landed and upon arrival the airport was just small to accommodate 1 or 2 planes. Well never mind that at least we have arrived safe.
So typical scenario upon arrival is to take pictures of course. Lol

Bulls are awake and hope they won’t sleep. How is everyone? I’m still sleepy because last night was trauma day in the Emergency room. Lots of patients came in due to different vehicular accident because they were drunk. So the lesson is drunk and driving should never be combined if you don’t want to visit the hospital.
As we were eating our lunch, my mother-in-law told us about a superstition about not to take a bath on Good Friday because if you did you will turn into a stone. I laughed as hard as I heard that and told her that it was better to be stone than to be smelly. Lol. Kidding aside, there are a lot of superstitious beliefs here in the Philippines and some are still practice even though it wasn’t proven by science or debunked by science. So here is another series of Welcome to the Philippines to tell you of some of those superstitious beliefs. Lets go!
Supertitious belief #1 You must paint or splash some blood from pigs or chickens on every pillar of a newly erected building or establishments
They said that this was to serve the spirits living in an area so that they wouldn't harm any of the new occupant and in return the spirits would make the structure more durable. In the late 1960s to early 1970s, there was a myth, a lot of children had been lost and were never found. It was then associated with the rumor that there had been abducted and killed for their blood that may have been used in the erection of the San Juanico bridge
Supertitious belief #2 The three-step series
When creating a staircase from the bottom to the top most steps should not be divisible by 3 - Oro Plata Mata, which stands for gold, silver and death. However literally translated, Mata is also the Spanish word for kill therefore the total step should fall to gold or silver to bring wealth. There is no known purpose for this superstition as some have just pointed out that evil spirits like to do the eenie meenie miney mo for their victim. Of course you wouldn't want that would you?
Supertitious belief #3 Wearing red in wakes and funerals is prohibited
Colors have their own meanings. Bright colors especially red or a symbol of love and happiness. Almost all people around the world agree that red is a color of love and happiness so as a time for mourning this color simply isn't acceptable. So keep in mind, if you wear red to a wake or a funeral you may be a little bit controversial.
Superstitious belief #7 Bringing home food from a wake or a funeral is a bad thing
The food offered during wakes and funerals is served as a means of thanking the visitor. However, the visitor is not only you. There will be others coming so as a sign of consideration, only take what you can consume. It's considered quite sensitive. There are no limitations in this belief this is a good practice and deserves the continuity of the act.
Superstitious belief #6 Sleeping with wet hair causes blindness or insanity in the long run
One can assume that this belief started simply to keep people from taking a bath before bedtime. We can also assume that in the old days this is due to difficulty in accessing water to avoid wasting too much of it.
Superstitious belief #6 If you hit your head knock your chin so you won't become a loony
It used to be thought that if you hit your head your brains were pushed downward therefore you had to knock your chin upward to put them back up.
Superstitious belief #6 Say tabi tabi po when you pass by a mound or tiny hills or even peeing in the woods
Mounds or tiny hills are believed to be the homes of tiny people or dwarves. Passing by their territories is disrespectful and might cause them to curse you. Another version is that since you can't see them you might accidentally step on them. Saying the mantra “tabi po” warns them that you are coming toward their direction. This is the same when peeing or walking in the woods. You might accidentally pee or step on them and if this happens the offender would likely be punished.
Supertitious belief #7 Don't keep your money let it roll by buying something or by putting it in the bank
This one may be based in the belief that the more you give the more you receive. It may not be a good habit but it sure is fun.
Superstitious belief #8 When a pregnant woman craves a certain sweet fruit or touches a certain plant the tree will soon bear sour fruits and the plant craved or touched may wither and die.
Superstitious belief #9 Pregnant woman should only look at handsome or pretty faces and should only eat sweet and gritty fruits
It was once believed that whatever a pregnant woman craves or looks at, the baby will have characteristics similar to those things she was exposed to. There were a lot of rumors in the old days that some women gave birth to babies that look like a fish, a bat or even an octopus.
These are some of the superstitious beliefs in the Philippines and I think there are a lot more. It is not a bad thing to follow these beliefs as long as it won’t hurt you or doesn’t hurt anyone. When Life Hits you hard

So many happened today and I was just planning to no write something up but I remembered my promise to myself that when I go back to read.cash, I’ll post an article every single day. What a challenge because sometimes I don’t have any topic to write something about. Lol.
First, just an update on joystick.club. It is now open for non JOYBOTS holders. This means that you can now access the games even without an NFT but of course JOYBOT holders have more incentives on playing the game than the non holders. There is also an update on the system because someone is caught cheating the game and it affected the rewarding system. So play at your own risk and I still advised to mint your own NFT to get more rewards on playing. I promised that it is worth it.
So I told myself to write something everyday. A challenge that I accepted so there is no turning back. By the way, what are the things you do when life challenges comes?
So often we find ourselves in situations that challenge our faith at times. It may be financial challenges, relational challenges, health challenges or emotional challenges and yes sometimes it is all of these at the same time. As human beings in every situation what we believe determines what our response will be when the challenge come. We go with what we know, we fall back on what we believe, we look for the answers in the standard by which we choose to live our lives.
So every time I face challenges in life, I go back and reassess what happened. Finding the root cause is one of the way to find the best solution in your problems. Secondly, I don’t give up on any challenges I face. Sometimes it might hurt you but believe me that it will make you strong. You can also apply on what I wrote on my last article A, B or C. Find a word that will encourage you to face the challenges in life, sing a song to lift up your mood and talk to someone who can understands you.
Also I remember what my grandfather told me, he said that whenever I face challenges that its so hard for me to overcome, just pray. Yes, sometimes I do that even if I’m not that religious. Praying makes my mind calm. When my mind is calm, I can think of a way to lessen the burden if not overcome the challenges I’m facing.
Life is full of surprises. Sometimes you will get caught off guard. But remember that challenges are there to be overcome.

It’s my last rest day today and I think I’ve been productive. We cleaned up our apartment, bought groceries, taught my daughter to write and explore more the crypto space. By the way, me and my wife went to the grocery this afternoon, as I was busy checking the brand of a canned good, she said that “wag mo ng piliin kung anong brand kasi pareho din lang yan.” I said okay But I still insisted to buy the brand that I want because it’s my choice. 😹
Speaking of choice, we do have our own choices in life because life we know is like taking a multiple choice exam wherein you will pick the best answer. The one you will pick will be the one your life will get. So here is an article that may help you to choose wisely.
No matter what season of life you are in you can be happy. Being happy is a choice and it is a way of thinking. So if being happy is a choice then being sad, frustrated or angry is also a choice. Do you always notice some people are mad or never usually being fond around? Do you knew people who are always happy, who always have kind words and who are always fun to be with? Happiness is contagious. When a person is around happy people, they naturally start to be happy. When a person laughs, we naturally wantex to laugh also.
I believe that there are three things you need in order to make it through any seasons in life. If you have a word or thing to hang on to, a song to sing and a friend to talk to, you are going to be okay.
When I was growing up my grandma always tell us kids as he left the house "Peace on earth, good will towards men.” Our grandma do not want us kids to be angry with each others or picking fights. She wants us to be happy or discover joy by being together. Those words stills have meaning for me until today and often reminded me of my grandmother’s words when I need to calm a storm in my life. Her words becomes my words. I look the peace in and focus on being happy to the many blessing I already have.
Music is universal and there is nothing like listening to a great music when you are happy or sad, crying or laughing, or just sitting and soaking. It is always a good time to sing.
Finally, anybody needs someone to talk to. There is nothing like a friend, you can share with a friend, you can find helo in a friend. A friend can be a calming voice in your life.
Life always bring challenges and it is completely up to us how to navigate it. Make a decision to face these challenges with a smile on your face. Happiness is a choice. Happiness doesn't depend on what you have or do not have. Be happy on what you do have. Happiness is not based on external, it is generated internal. You make the decision to be happy. Being happy on what you have leads to gratefulness and that leads to thankfulness and that will ultimately generate more happiness.
So whenever you are facing challenges in life, find a word you can hang on to, choose a song that you enjoy and ask a friend that can calm this storm. And one more thing, we all have our choices, so choose to be happy.

Good evening everyone! 2 years have passed since the last time I’d experienced attending a festival. The last festival I attended was the Pahiyas festival in Lucban that was held on the month of May every year. So because of the lessen restriction, I was thinking if there will any celebration/festival this year not just in Lucban but all over the Philippines. And if there is any, I would love to attend some of it. Do you miss attending festivals too like me? So related to this festival, this series of “Welcome to the Philippines” will be all about big festivals that are celebrated here. By the way, festivals in the Philippines are a great method to showcase each province's patron saint or most well-known items. Based on the amount of folklore, the higantes or paper mache giants were done by locals as a form of protest during the spanish colonization. Now, this paper mache giants now played a part of one of the most unique festivals in the Philippines l. Higantes festival is celebrated every fourth week of November in Angono, Rizal to honor San Clemente, the town's patron saint.

Moriones is derived from the word “morion” which means mask or visor as demonstrated by the mask in the moriones festival costume. This religious festival reenacts the biblical story of Saint Longinus, a roman soldier with one blind eye. Moriones festival is an annual activity held every holy week in the province of Marinduque.

Masskara festival is named after the words “mass” which means many and “kara” which means faces making it the festival of many faces. The Masskara festival was started by the people of Bacolod city to lift the spirits of the locals after a tragic disaster in the 1980s. Masskara festival is typically held on the fourth sunday of October in Bacolod city with many smiling masks paraded by locals.

Kadayawan is at about known native expression. It is derived from the word “madayaw” which means good, valuable and superior. Davaoenos celebrate the annual Kadayawan festival as a thanksgiving festival and a tribute to their indigenous people. Kadayawan festival is usually held in the third week of August in Davao city.

The giant lantern festival can be traced back to 1931 when electricity was introduced to the San Fernando lantern sparking the first giant lantern festival. Every second saturday in December, San Fernando city, Pampanga hosts the giant lantern festival.

Panagbenga is a local term in Cordillera that means a season for blossoming. One of the major events in the Panagbenga festival is the grand float parade which features giant floats in various characters made of flowers. Pahiyas festival's history can be traced back to the 15th century. Farmers used to offer their harvest at the foot of Mount Banahaw at the time. Similar to Iloilo city's Dinagyang festival, this event is celebrated to honor Santo Nino. This religious festival is also one of the oldest in the Philippines. The Ati atihan festival is held in several towns all over the province of Aklan every January.

Just like Dinagyang festival, Sinulog is a religious festival in the Philippines that commemorates the feast of the Santo Nino. The word “sinulog” means like the water current is also the name of the dance step performed by the dancers. Sinulog festival is a traditional Cebu city celebration held on the third Sunday of January.
Those are the list of some big festivals here in the Philippines and I hope that it will be celebrated again this year with of course some health guidelines. I would love to attend and experience this beautiful festival around the Philippines.

Hays: To help or not

Did you saw how much happy my daughter is on my yesterdays article? I want to level up her happiness by throwing up a party for her birthday this coming April. I wanted to celebrate it on a private resort because this past 2 years she doesn’t celebrated it because of the pandemic. So I was excitingly busy planning this even, looking for a place, foods, cakes, balloons and event organizer but a sad news came.
My brother-in-law who has a chronic kidney disease has a problem on his fistula. It was busted. By the way, he got the disease because of unhealthy eating - always eating instant noodles and drinking carbonated drinks. So he was on dialysis for almost two years now and we are the one who is supporting his treatment because my mother-in-law lacks fund to support him. My brother-in-law needs to undergo a surgery to replace his busted fistula and it was worth around $900 (₱45,000).
It’s a bad news because the money that was intended to throw up a party my daughter will be used to help him. 😢 What will I choose? I’m caught up between making my daughter happy and helping my brother-in-law repair his busted fistula.
I was so hesitant to share this because my wife might read this and may cause some misunderstanding.
To be honest, I don’t want to help him because he isn’t helping himself. As I was working my ass at the hospital, grinding in the crypto space trying my luck, he was just sitting here in our apartment watching television and playing on his phone. I felt like “wtf!” I’m working just for him? If you are on my shoes? Will you feel this way too?
Yes, I was biased on this because he is just my brother-in-law. But, I wanted to see him make an effort too. I’ve seen so many person that are still working even if they have a disease like him. But I think he is contented on his life because he knows that there is someone to support him. I wanted to not help him and make him realize that he needs to make an effort too but my wife might get mad at me. And I don’t have the courage too to confront my brother-in-law because I hate dramas in life. Mapapabuntong hininga ka nalang talaga.
At the end, I decided to help him. But I promise that this will be the last time and I will choose my daughter’s happiness over his life because I am working not for him, I’m working for my wife and especially for my daughter.
By the way, I was planning to still celebrate my daughter’s birthday but in a simpler way. I will used my BCH which is intended for her 7th birthday. I’ll just accumulate another 1BCH.
Sorry, I know this may sound like a rant rather than an article, but I’m so fed up. I was even hesitant to share this because my wife might read this and may cause some misunderstanding.

Alert level 1 at last

Due to the pandemic, my daughter has been on the house for almost 2 years now. So I was happy today because they announced that our area is now under alert level 1. This means no age restrictions to go outside as long as you are wearing a mask. So I immediately grabbed this opportunity to bring my daughter to the mall to play.
It was 3pm when I decided to bring my daughter to the mall. SM Mall is just 5 minutes away from our apartment. When we arrived, it wasn’t very strict now, you don’t need to show your vaccination card nor fill out a form. Just wear a mask and take your temperature and if it’s normal, you are free to go inside.
We are now inside the mall and the place we will go is kidzoona. It was on the 3rd floor so we used the escalator. And guess what? My daughter was so afraid to step in on it. So I hold her hands tight and told her that it wasn’t scary.
When she saw this balloons, she immediately runs towards it. I felt the excitement she was giving when she saw this. And when she saw what’s inside, her eyes became wide and sparkling with joy.
Note: An adult is needed inside kidzoona and we need to show our proof that we are vaccinated.
When we entered, her head was like an electric fan. Like she doesn’t know where will she go first because of excitement. So I told her that she can play around wherever she picks.
Our first stop is this dessert store where there are different of kinds of cakes. She served me a piece of cake maybe a thank you for letting her play outside.

Wang! Wang! Wang! Move away because this little girl needs to put out a fire. 🚒
After putting out the fire, I think this little got hungry so we went to a sushi bar.
Sushi is not enough. So burger and fries to the rescue!
I thought she was full but she wants to grab an ice cream for dessert.
This little girl decided to burn up all the calories after all those foods she had eaten. When biking, she’s thinking of her future career.
Maybe a musician like her grandfather and grandmother.

An architect or an engineer who build houses, road, bridges, etc.
A doctor who treats patient with kindness in her heart.
Note: I don’t want her to be a nurse like me because I knew the struggles of a nurse here in the Philippines.
And look, she decided to be a doctor.
This is how we celebrated when we heard that our place is now on alert level 1. And I hope that this pandemic will soon end. I knew that she enjoyed her time playing in kidzoona. Even if I can’t see her smile because of the mask, I can still see it in her eyes.

Gladly tonight, as I was talking to my father, I heard my brother talking at the background that he is doing a homework which is about the past wars that happened in the Philippines. With the modernizations of weaponry now that even a small missile can create a huge disaster to an area, so what if that happened in the past? Terrifying right? But think if wars today is just like before, people holding some ancient swords. What will you feel? Yes, war isn’t good whatever weapons they are holding - knife, gun, cannons. Okay. Enough with the wars, I just want to write something about the weapons our ancestors wield to fight off foreign invaders. So here are some list I got.

Kampilan is the term most commonly used for the sword in the Tagalog, Ilocano and Visayan languages. It simply means sword. Unlike other common pre-colonial Filipino bolo weapons which were based on agricultural implements, the kampilan is specifically made for warfare used either in small skirmishes or large-scale encounters. According to Philippine historical documents, the kampilan was widely used by chieftains and warriors for battle and as a headhunting sword.

The Philippine Katipunan era bolo is commonly referred to as Luzon Mutulis. Also known as wing dagger is a Filipino dagger used throughout the pre-colonial Philippines. It is a large rectangular myth motif shield used by the natives in the Philippines. The shield is made of hardwood and is decorated with elaborate carvings. A single edged sword from the Philippines specifically the Southern Tagalog provinces of Batangas and Mindoro. I was just looking at the screen on my phone thinking of what to write while listening to some music on youtube and the song *in the end* by Linkin park played. I tried so hard and got so far but in the end it doesn’t really matters.
I knew that the song in the end was one of the best hit music by the band. I remembered when I was in high school, it was overhyped. Everyone is playing and singing it. It was so iconic. The lyrics that can touch your soul and with the great voice of Chester, it’s a perfect match. Brings back the old good memories (matanda na talaga). But seriously, after hearing this song again now, it made me think, what does really matter?
There is a truth that unites us. We all want to live a life that mattered and we only get one chance at it. It doesn't matter your background, your skin color, your income, your politics, your religion or your world view. And it doesn't matter what has happened in your past. We all want to know that our lives counted for something that we made a positive difference in the world, with the one life we've been given to live. But how do we achieve this?
First, we believe that we were designed to achieve important things, that we are unique in our being, our personality, our abilities and our relationships, that there is no one else on the face of the earth who can live your life and accomplish your goal and second we remove distractions in order to accomplish those things. It is not that we have a short time to live but that we waste a lot of it.
Life is long enough for the highest achievement if it were all well invested. We each get the same amount of time 1440 minutes per day, 168 hours per week and how we spend that time matters.It matters in the short run and it matters in the long run. How we spend our time not only affects ourselves but it affects our loved ones, our families, our communities and all those who come after us. So how do we live our lives for the greatest good for the greatest number of people we choose well. We set aside lesser pursuits to seek things that matter and we do it every single day. Things that matter is about overcoming the distractions that keep us from living out our true purpose in life.

Good evening everyone. Just finished eating my dinner. And now I’m eating home made bibingka for dessert while writing this one. Are you craving for some kakanin after hearing bibingka? Well, let’s make you crave more after reading this.
Philippines have some very delicious delicacies. And to be honest, I haven’t tried it all. So I’ll just make a list of what I knew and you can add up some on the comment section. Let’s eat, I mean let’s go.
Pichi pichi
Pichi-Pichi is a gelatinous dessert prepared from shredded cassava and sugar that can also be consumed as a hefty mid-afternoon snack. The mixture is poured into a mold and cooked until it has a sticky, gelatinous feel. This is topped with grated coconut after steaming for added taste.
Kutsinta
Kutsinta or kuchinta or even brown rice cake is a type of “kakanin” that uses lye water as an ingredient. Kutsinta is somewhat sticky yet chewey (thats what lye water does) at the same time and is best eaten with grated coconut on top
Sapin-sapin
Sapin sapin is a Filipino rice cake made from glutinous rice and coconut milk. This delicious sapin sapin recipe is composed of layers each with a different color and flavor. Normally, sapin-sapin is composed of 3 layers: the bottom layer is colored yellow and has the flavor of ripe jackfruit; the middle layer is white and has the flavor of young coconut or just plain coconut milk; the topmost layer is violet in color and has the flavor of purple yam
Cassava cake
Cassava cake has been a favorite treat during Filipino gatherings. It is commonly cooked by baking in the oven. This recipe introduces another way of cooking cassava cake, which is by steaming. This steamed cassava cake recipe might be simple, but the result tastes just right. It is not too sweet and it has a nice texture. I recommend adding shredded quick melt or sharp cheddar cheese on top for best results.
Suman sa ibos
Suman sa ibos is a simple kakanin recipe. This is pretty much the same as suman sa lihiya except that the later uses lye water and is wrapped in banana leaves.
Bibingka
If there’s one thing Filipinos love as much as food, it’s Christmas. In fact, Filipinos love Christmas so much, our holiday season begins as early as September 1! And bibingka is the perfect example of a classic Filipino Christmas food. Like the famous Ben & Ben song of the same name says, we can find bibingka sold by street vendors, especially near churches, during the holiday season.
Puto
Puto is a Filipino steamed cake snack that is served any time of the year. It is the perfect dish to bring to a gathering or potluck because it’s easy to eat and to transport. It is traditionally made from ground rice and can be eaten by itself, with butter or grated coconut. However, this puto recipe is an adapted version, using cake flour instead of ground rice. There are many variations that include different flavorings such as ube (purple yam) and pandan. It can also be topped with cheese or salted egg.
Biko
Sticky, chewy, and oh so sweet, biko is a delicious treat that Filipinos all across the world enjoy. Biko is a type of sticky rice cake, otherwise known as kakanin. With a combination of coconut milk and brown sugar, biko is a delicious dessert or merienda to share with your loved ones! You can often find biko at birthday parties, fiestas, holiday parties, and family reunions, usually with other sticky rice treats.
Maja blanca
Maja Blanca is a Filipino dessert made from coconut milk, cornstarch, and sugar. Often called Coconut Pudding, this luscious dessert is easy to make and the ingredients are very common.Unknown to many, the original Maja Blanca Recipe does not include corn and milk. In this recipe, I added whole sweet kernel corn and condensed milk for added taste and a more creamy texture.Since Christmas season is just around the corner, this would make a very good holiday dessert especially during potluck Christmas Parties and Noche Buena as well.
Palitaw
Palitaw is a term used to call a sweet flat rice cake that is eaten in the Philippines as a snack or dessert. Originally, grounded or pounded sticky rice is used to make this rice cake (called kakanin in the local language) – however, the practice of using packaged rice flour became common because it is more efficient.

Filipinos are more discreet and conservative in terms of love and expressing feelings or attraction for one another. In the Filipino culture, love revolves around respect for the woman and family by strictly following the set of rulrs in pursuing a lady.
The "manliligaw" is expected to establish a friendship first. Making a drastic move will imply that they are aggressive or arrogant. To be fair, the "nililigawan" also need to follow a certain attitude when they are being chased and it is termed as "dalagang filipina." To be a dalagang filipina, the nililigawan need to be "mahinhin" or shy and "pakipot" which means they need to play hard to get. The nililigawan cannot show any direct interest to the guy who's pursuing them even if they really, really, really like him. It is known to be a virtue that is highly sought-after. So how did Filipino couples end up together before?
Traditional Filipino courtship
Find a go-betweener - since manliligaw can't approach the lady directly, they have to find the chosen one or a mutual friend of both of them that will basically help you out in your exciting journey of courtship and capturing the damsels heart
“Tuksuhan”or teasing - so you've established mutual friends now, those friends will tease that both of you look good together and they became amatchmaker and that's how things start forming where both of them realize that they are compatible and are interested in each other
“Sulatan” or write love letters - the manliligaw and nililigawan will write a letter to each other or basically exchange letters
“Harana” or serenade - it was a practice filipinos picked up from the Spaniards where in the night the man accompanied by his friends will sing a love song in front of the girls window as she looks out and listens to their performance.
“Paninilbihan” or acts of service - it is said when you are courting a Filipina, you are also courting her family. Filipinos really value their family so parents play a major role in their daughter's love life. The manliligaw is expected to visit your family to introduce himself and to show that he is really serious in winning the girl's heart. It is also a way for the parents to see if the man is sincere about being together with their daughter. After that the manliligaw is expected to do so more frequently while bringing “pasalubong” or gifts.
Courtship could take months or even years but after perseverance, patience and hard work with the approval of the parents and the girl saying yes, they would finally be “kasintahan” or lovers and eventually they would get married happily ever after. This went on for centuries but then the digital age has arrive. The invention of cell phones, gadgets and the Internet change lot of things as well as the art of courtship. The 21st century introduces texting and emails rather than letters. You can tell each other how you feel in an instant and online dating has been made. Filipinos are not limited to dating only Filipino citizens now. They can even date someone from the other side of the globe.
Everything has become fast-paced since then. Everything in an instant it can be friends yesterday lovers today and sadly maybe strangers tomorrow. Relationships these days don't always end up in marriage. Some much flirting and very temporary relationships now tend to be easy to lose as they are also easy to get not only in the Philippines as well as other countries around the world.

Hi everyone! I’ve just got a chance to talk to my one of my childhood friends over messenger app. It was so fun talking to him, reminiscing the old times. We talked about the all our kapalpakan moments and the games we played before. And he told me about the kids today who are now just in front of their gadgets. Yeah, kids today aren’t the same as us before. We don’t have any gadgets. All we have is ourselves. That is why I choose right now to write something about filipino traditional games which are called “Laro ng lahi.”
Luksong baka - one player crouches while the other players jump over him/her. The crouching player gradually stands up as the game progresses making it harder for the other players to jump over him/her
Palo sebo - a traditional filipino game where players climb a bamboo pole with grease. Whoeve gets the flag on top of the pole wins
Pitik bulag - this game involves two players. One cover his eyes with his/her hand while the other one flick a finger over the hand covering the eyes. The person with the covered eyes gives a number with a sign with his free hand the same time the other does. If their numbers are the same then they exchange role in the game.
Luksong tinik - two players serve as the base of the “tinik” by putting their right or left feet and hand together. A starting point is set by all the players giving enough runway for the player to achieve a higher jump. So as not to hit that “tinik” player of the other team jump over the teenage followed by other team members. If a player hit either hands or feet of the base player, he is out or will be punished.
Sipa - it has been the nationals part of the philippines until 2009. Here the object used to play the game is also called sipa. It is made of a washer with colorful threads usually plastics straw attached to it. It can also be played using a “ratan” ball or a lead washer covered in cloth or plastic. The sips is then thrown upwards for the player's toss using their foot. The player must not allow sipa to touch the ground by hitting it several times to their foot just above the knee. The one with the most number of kicks wins
Patintero - one of the most popular filipino street games. There are two teams playing the attack and defense team. The attack team must try to run and cross the line without touching or catching them
Tiyakad - is a cultural filipino game used for recreation. Itis a racing game played with stills preferably made out of bamboo or tall branches.
Luksong lubid - this game is similar to the western jump rope game. The game is played with two players holding the rope on each end making circular movements where the other player must jump inside without touching any part of the rope.
Tumbang preso - is a popular filipino street game. The game requires three or more players. Each player is provided with a large throw away object called pl”pamato.” A semi-flattened empty can is placed in a pride position. A player is thrown as the prisoner who will guard the empty can while the other players stand at the throwing line, they take turns throwing their pamato at the empty can trying to knock it down. As soon as the can is knocked down, the prisoner must put back the can in upright position before he can attack any of the players attempting to recover their pamato. If the prisoner tags a player while recovering the pamato, he/she will be now the prisoner.
Those games that mentioned above are some of the games that I played before when I was a kid. I always got scolded by my grandparents every time I go home because I am dirty and doesn’t smell good. Amoy maasim. Lol. But if given a chance, I would love my daughter to experience this traditional games. A good recreational activities to build socialization with others and good exercises too.

How I ended up being a Nurse

A rainy afternoon everyone. I decided to declutter my things today so I can organize the things I needed to apply work for abroad. Transcript of records, related learning experience, curriculum vitae, birth certificate, passports, etc…
As I browse my papers I saw my grades on my first year as a nursing student and it made me think how did I became a nurse?
I’ve been a nurse now for almost 8 years. And I work as an Emergency room nurse on a tertiary hospital under the government. So how did I ended up being a nurse?
I grew up with my grandparents on my mother side. I’ve been an honor student on my elementary years and graduated as a salutatorian. After I graduated from elementary, I went to our hometown national high school. That is when I f**k up big time.
I became addicted to computer games (counter strike, ragnarok). This addiction made me not to attend classes, do homework and many more. My grades are failing and but still I’m not worried. To me what’s important is college. As long as I graduate high school I can start fresh again on college to reach my goals.
On my third year as a high school student, my addiction to computer became worst to the point that my parents were called by my adviser. She told my parents that I won’t be able to pass this school year if I don’t change. My parents were very disappointed at me that time asking me what happened to that honor student before. But still, I don’t give a care about it. I’ll just pass this school year and the coming year so I can finally go to college. So I changed my habit a little bit to be able to pass my third year that time. And I passed!
It was my summer vacation that time when I met a group of new friends that is studying on our nearby hometown. They look cool and easy to go with so I decided to transfer on the school they were attending. My parents as supportive as always agreed and maybe that I would change. And they are correct.
So I’m now attending a new school. New faces on an unfamiliar place. But it was alright because I can still get a chance to be with my new friends after school. This is when my parents thoughts that I will change if I change school became true. I’m now not addicted to online games but now I learned to drink and smoke. Nothing has changed at all on my goal. Just pass this year and college will be the start. I’ve managed again to pass and graduated. College year here I come.
I took up Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology on a state university on our hometown. As I promised myself, I started as a hard working student on first semester. Second semester has come that is when the habit that I have gained on my high school years came back. I realized that I was just pretending to be good but the habits of drinking, smoking, playing computer game aren’t removed inside myself. I started not to attend classes again and even spend my tuition just to party. And my parents discovered what I’ve done.
My parents were so mad at me that they told me that they won’t bring me to college no more. My life is a mess. My plan reaching my goal is now ruined. I f**ked up.
After that incident, I was so ashamed to all the people around me. I was a failure. So I decided to go to Manila to work on my Tita’s business. I’m hoping that I could save up so I can support myself to study. Two years have passed but the money I saved isn’t enough.
I was losing hope. But that is when I received a message from one of my Tita asking me if I want to study again. I immediately replied with a yes. She invited me to come over to her place so discuss about her condition before giving me a chance to study again. The terms are she will be the one to pick what course I will get and no drinking/smoking while I’m studying. I agreed to her terms and condition and promised myself not to lose this last chance given to me.
So I took up the course she wanted for me which is bachelor of science in Nursing. Lots of memorization, practical duties. Even if I don’t want this course I still studied hard so that this last given opportunity for me wouldn’t be a waste. I graduated on April 2014. I took the licensure exam two months after and luckily I passed. I was so thankful to my Tita for the opportunity she has given me.
There are still a lot of ups and down on my career as a nurse but I learned to love this profession. Without this I won’t be able to gain again the loss confidence in myself.
To all of you, don’t miss all the opportunity that is given to you. If you can, do it now. Don’t make my own mistake. I’ve wasted 4 years of my time that could have changed my life for the better.

Today marks the first day of my off from work. And I didn’t get a chance to write something after getting home after work because I was so sleepy. Di na kinaya ng katawang lupa ko. So how are you guys? Is your day heading towards the way you planned it? I hope it does. We need to be productive every time we got a chance or much better is we need to be productive even if we are having a bad day. So I wrote up yesterday some of the toxic flFilipino cultures and traits. So now to make up to us Filipinos, I will write today about the positive Filipino values. Baka kasi kapag negative pa ay ibash nako. Lol
Here are some positive Filipino values and maybe you can comment if I miss something on the list 😉
Bayanihan system or spirit of kinship - A Filipino community spirit and cooperation wherein a group of individuals extends a helping hand without expecting any remuneration. It is characterized by communal work towards one goal exemplified in carrying a “bahay kuno” or pushing a passenger jeep.
Damayan system - sympathy for people who lost their loved ones. In case of death of a certain member of a community, the whole communitys sympathizes with the beavered family. Neighbors, friends and relatives of the deceased usually give certain amount of money as their way of showing sympathy.
Familism or close family relations - A Filipino trait of giving highest importance to family above other things. At rate wherein family members should be taken care and supported regardless of whether he or she did something wrong. Family members must be given attention and should not be abandoned.
Fun loving trait - A trait found in most Filipinos. A trait that makes them unique but even in time of calamities and other challenges in life, we always have something to be happy about, a reason to celebrate.
Hospitality - A Filipino trait of being receptive and generous to guests
Compassionate - A Filipino trait of being sympathetic to others even if the person is a stranger. An example of this is giving alms to beggar. This is observed when we hear Filipinos saying “kawawa naman” or “nakakaawa naman”
Regionalism - A Filipino trait of giving more priority or preference and giving favors to his province made before others
Filipinos are friendly - A trait found in most of the Filipinos. They are sincere, loyal, kind and sociable
Flexible or “magaling makibagay”- the ability of Filipinos to ride on or adjust to the norms of other group just to attain smooth and harmonious relationship just like our ofws
Religious - most Filipinos possess strong conformance of the religious belief in action and in words.
Respect for elders - A Filipino trait of being cautious both in words and in actions to the older people. We always uses “po” or “opo” in our sentences while talking to elderly. These words shows our respect to them.
Remedyo attitude - A Filipino trait of being creative and resourceful. The ability to do things that are next to impossible
Matiyaga - Filipinos renowned for their tenacity and strong determination in every undertaking
These are just a few positive Filipino values we must not forget to cherish and preserve. These good and positive filipino traits that have embodied who we are as a people as a community and as a nation since the time of our ancestors.

18 admissions and 3 deaths on my 12 hours shift last night. Ang toxic! But I choose this work so better accept the fact that nursing in the Philippines isn’t that easy especially when you are at a tertiary hospital owned by the government. Lots of patient but lacks of manpower and resources. By the way, I said something the word toxic so I wanna share something related to that word and I knew Filipinos here in this platform can relate. It’s about Filipino toxic cultures and traits.
Filipinos are known to have good qualities all over the world. But let's face it, Filipino people also have annoying and bad habits that sometimes give the country a negative reputation. These habits not only pull us down personally but the entire nation as well. So what are these toxic Filipino culture and traits?
Bahala na attitude - the belief of trusting in divine providence or leaving everything to the hands of faith. It is a filipino's way of avoiding rationalization or good reason. While this trait can sometimes be helpful in times of adversity, if it is used to evade your responsibilities which some Filipinos tend to do it, is already toxic.
Procrastination or manana habit - a habit of leaving for tomorrow what can be done today. They tend to postpone their actions for a later time thus reducing accomplishments. Filipinos are fond of saying “bukas nalang” or “sa susunod nalang” due to laziness. This arises from a slack mentality that the problem will eventually go away by itself.
Crab mentality - Filipinos tend to possess this mentality especially when they feel insecure in a way. Crab mentality also promotes an unhealthy competition. Instead of doing things that could help one another, Filipinos tend to devote so much of their time gossiping and backbiting. It is their way of deviating people's attention on their inadequacy by focusing on other people's faults.
Filipino time - This refers to the filipino's own unique brand of time which is known to be minutes or hours behind the scheduled or standard time. It is a dreadful habit that needs to be stopped as it hinders productivity and progress. Not to mention that you're not only wasting your own time but other people's time as well.
Nung panahon namin - This trait is characterized normally by someone who is way ahead of our generation and keeps on comparing the things and so-called roots of their time with the younger ones. Whenever there is something that deviates, he or she sees it as something that right
Gayahin mo kaya si… - This trait is characterized when you are being criticized for something and they want you to emulate someone who exhibits something they are looking for. In the end, you get compared.
Utang na loob - This trait is characterized by expecting that all the good favor you provide or show to someone gets returned back to you. “Utang na loob” has been ingrained in our Filipino culture. It makes us think that we have to return the favor to the person especially if they extended a big help for us.
English as basis of intelligence -This trait is characterized of putting judgment as to a person's intelligence merely by how well he or she speaks in English.
There are a lot more of this toxic cultures and traits and the above mentioned are just few of those. But remember that in the end, it is important to remember that as a Filipino people, we may have many positive cultural traits but at the same time some parts of our culture can be toxic. And I admit that I’ve done one or two of those. So what should we do now is hone the positive traits and correct the negative so we can be the best Filipino’s we can be.

The One who needs to be Elected

Just got home from a 12 hours toxic nightshift an hour ago. Tired and sleepy but I decided to write something up before I go to sleep. So please bare with me. 🥱
Elections here in the Philippines will be about in two months time from now. Hey fellow Filipinos, who is your president? Is it red, blue, pink, yellow, green or any other colors?
I’m a responsible voter who is voting on the right person that I think will lead the Philippines into success. But did anyone I voted before made it? Yes, maybe, no. This made me doubt that I picked the right person and also made me think “what if I voted for the other person? Will the Philippines not be the same? Would it be successful?” Okay, those thoughts wouldn’t reversed what happened. Now the question is, why is it that no matter who we choose to lead us isn’t always enough? The answer is doubt.
Ps: I’m not supporting any candidates and I am not pointing fault to anyone.
Truth be told, we are all persons that has doubts. When we hear something good or bad that happened like for example they put up a bridge to connect a two provinces we think that it was good but how much is their kickback for that project. Can you understand what I’m pointing out here? We doubt because we don’t see. And the main reason for this is corruption.
To be honest, I knew someone who is an SK chairman in some place in our province that does this. Put up some projects and he would get some share of the funds straight into his pockets. So young but he knew it. Where did he learnt it? Yes. From the person who is higher above him and so on.
So this is the reason why I think that no matter what color we choose, Philippines would be the same. It’s the system that should be replaced not the person leading. It will just a change of name. Change of platforms and promises to the people. It would always be same. What needed to be done is bring back the trust to the people. So how do we do that? Easy. Blockchain technology.
We knew what is blockchain technology is right? Blockchain can kill the source of our doubts. With everyone that can view the transactions made in and out of the government, it would be transparent. No more doubting that all the funds in the government are used incorrectly.
So in the coming election, I still doubt that their would be a change here in the Philippines because I haven’t heard the word of blockchain on anyone’s mouth.

I Spanked Her

It is hard to be a parent especially when your kid is naughty. So yesterday my daughter had an episode of tantrum because I told her to stop using her phone. She cried out loud and making “dabog.” I told her to stop but every time I do that, her crying became louder. So I have no choice. I picked up a slipper and spank her. After I did that, she suddenly stops but too scared at me. I felt guilt but I don’t have a choice. 😔
So a question on my mind came, is it okay to spank a child to be disciplined?
It can be difficult to us parents to teach discipline our children because as we know they are still immature when it comes to their behavior. They will act in any way they want without considering any consequences. And sometimes the only solution you can think of to correct this wrong behavior is spanking. I for myself have wondered many times is spanking an appropriate way to discipline my daughter. Yes, it’s the best solution when they are out of control but is it really that effective?
When I was a kid, I was spanked by my grandparents so many times that it made me think it is the right way to discipline my daughter. Yes, spanking gets an immediate response from our children compared to scolding them. As I have said above, I spanked my daughter yesterday because of her misbehavior. But I felt guilt after doing it. So I searched on the internet wether spanking is the best solution for my child to behave better. Here is what I found out.
Spanking can be effective when done correctly but it also comes with its fair share of consequences if its done excessively.
Spanking when done in a calm, loving environment, children learn appropriate behaviors more effectively. The focus of spanking should be helping children understand why their actions were wrong. Spanking isn’t an action to vent out our anger and frustration to our children. Helping them to understand their actions will have a long lasting effect on their behavior.
Spanking can appropriately establish respect for their parents. Not only to parents but also to those who are considered their elders. A little bit of fear from spanking can teach our children to behave better.
Since spanking is a strict disciplinary action, it helps set a standard for our children as to what kind of behavior is acceptable or not. Setting standards early on their lives will teach them how to live by the rules and to respect boundaries. This is important for their personal development as it can teach them to understand how to blend well into the society.
There are some benefits of spanking in raising a child when done correctly but of course not at all can agree. Many parents see only the negative side of spanking and I hate to admit but that there are.
Spanking as a disciplinary action teaches aggression to children because they can’t differentiate between what’s discipline and aggression on their age. This is the main reason why authorities or the government opposes this kind of action. Children who is spanked may think that being aggressive is okay when they see us parents act towards them.
Spanking also may affect a child’s relationship with their parents negatively. Like my daughter who became afraid of me after I spanked her, we can say that spanking can instill fear. This fear of them is a desperation attempt to avoid physical punishment to us parents.
Another downside I saw on the internet is spanking can cause poor performance at school. When parents spanks their children, they are focusing on the problem and not the solution. This might not result in improvement but instead it may add further stress to our children.
There are some pros and cons of spanking. For me, it is okay to spank your child sometimes as long as it is the last option for you. We should use first the alternative ways of teaching discipline to our children before using spanking as a means of disciplinary action.
Yes, I spanked my daughter yesterday and I felt sorry for it. So what I did is hug her and told her the reason why I spanked her in a calm manner. Good thing is she did understand.

My Little One
She’s growing up too fast…
I just realized lately that my cute little one is now a grown up kid. Time flew so fast…
I remember clearly the time she was brought out by my wife into this world via caesarean section. I was there inside the operating room nervous and praying that it everything would be okay. When she was out and heard her cry, it was euphoric. I am now a father… 👨👧
My world stops when I held unto her in my arms and didn’t noticed that tears keep running down on my face. I can’t explain what But all emtions are mixed. But one thing is certain, I am the happiest man that time.
When my wife and daughter was discharged at the hospital and got home I am the one who took care of them. I’m the one who took bath of her for the first week because my wife is afraid (I’m a pro, took care of my sinlings before). Everytime I am playing with her, I always promised her that I would do everything for her.
Her first smile… I clearly remember when she first smiled. It melted my heart seeing her. It was like I’ve seen an awesome scenery.
Her first laugh… I was playing peek-a-boo with her when suddenly she made a giggling laugh. 😮 Chills came running down on my spine, excited and awe on what what I heard.
Her first step… I was watching television that time while she was on her DIY play pen (Yes, I’m the one who did it). The playpen was near the television rack and then I saw she her stand up and took her first two baby steps. I was like shouting “Dyan, Si Reva naglakad!” I was like I saw a ghost . Haha
Her first word… “Dada” was the first word she spoke out. Dada means daddy so ehem, she loves her daddy more than mommy. Lol.
All on her milestones, I’m so happy that I was there. There are still a lot to tell but it would be a long story. And now, she will turn 5 years old on April 7th. Times flew so fast. My baby is growing too fast. One thing I can promise her that Daddy will be there for her always and forever she will be my little one no matter what happens.
By the way, the 1 whole BCH that I’m holding is for her. It would be spent for her 7th birthday and I’m planning that half of all my earnings here, at noise.cash, at sBCH, and other more platforms will be save for her future and the other half will spent for her needs.

Truth about my BCH journey
How are you guys? Today I just wanna tell you about my BCH journey. Some might think that how come this guy already has a journey on BCH if only he is a new user here at read.cash. Well, I’ve been here a long time ago and just decided to come back.
I lost my BCH: not your keys not your coins
It was the month of December 2019 when I lost my BCH earnings. My phone just went factory resetting itself. All my files had been wiped out. Too bad that I didn’t save my seed phrase to my computer nor write it in a piece of paper, so there is no way that I can retrieve my BCH. That is when I fully understand that saving your seed phrase in a safe place is a must. So I advise anyone who read this to save your seed phrase into another phone, computer or write it on a piece of paper and store it on a safe.
Sold my BCH below 250$
I remember it clearly when I started trading. It was blast. I accumulated more than enough that time and decided to sold my BCH and convert it into fiat. Then after the price of BCH went up until 1600$ on the month of May 2021. That 4BCH should be worth 6000$+.😣 Regretted my decision not to hold at least 1 whole BCH. So after that incident, I promised myself to hold at least 1 BCH and yes I still hold it, keeping my seed phrase safe. So for those who wanted to take profit, yes you can take it but a least hold some for the future.
Back to trading
I traded for almost 8 months. No technical analysis just guts. And gladly I still got some profits from jumping from one coin to another coin. So what does this have to do to BCH? I don’t know why but every time I gain some profit I automatically convert it into BCH. Maybe I’m already adapted to just holding BCH (my portfolio is 100% BCH and SEP20 under sBCH until now).
Converting BCH again into Fiat
I converted some of my BCH holdings into fiat (no matter what the price) because I got an opportunity outside crypto space. Almost 300% APY, who wouldn’t grab it? That business opportunity is still ongoing and I thank BCH for that.

How I met my Wife
I remember clearly that I promised myself not to get in a relationship after breaking up with my long time girlfriend, that I will focus on my work. Nothing less. Nothing more. And
I worked as a Nurse on a private institution after breaking up to my 4 year girlfriend. Everything is normal. I moved on and I am happy with my daily life. And then everything has changed after this girl suddenly came.
There is this newly hired nurse and was assigned to where to the department I’m working in. My first impression “ang sungit!” And yes, my impression is true. She doesn’t talk too much unless you asked her about topics related at work. So I didn’t bothered about her and just continue my normal work.
One day at work, I’ve misplaced my phone. I can’t find it so I asked her if she can dial my number and call my phone so I can find it. She did and gladly that I found it. Days has passed and nothing unusual happened at work.
Now this is the funny part, it was my rest day and I decided to visit one of my friends at college at the nearby town. The two of us went for a drink on a bar and my friend asked me if I can call anyone to join us on our drinking session so that we can much more with other companies. I told my friend that I don’t know anyone there and then suddenly I remembered that my coworker is too residing in that town. Maybe I can invite her to come over for a drink. So I tried to send her a message expecting anything.
Ting! I received a message and saw my coworkers name. I opened the message and was shocked that my “masungit” colleague will come over to have a drink with us.
And then my coworker came and I introduced her to my friend. It wasn’t intentional but I introduced her as my girlfriend. She just stared at me and smile back to my friend after hearing what I’ve say. We just drink in the next few hours and decided to go home. I brought her back to their home and just told her that I’ll message if I got home.
It was the start of something new…
After that night we are now sending some messages and talking about anything in our workplace. Little did I know that messages becomes sweet. Am I falling? Maybe yes. So I invite her every time we have our rest day to eat outside, watch movies, etc.
Two months have passed and I decided to confess my feelings for her.
It was the 3rd day of May when I told her that I love her. I also asked her if she is willing to live with me on my apartment. And she said she loves me too. I was happy that time that I forgot to asked her what’s her answer on my second question. That day I was so happy.
Early morning the next day, someone is knocking at the front door. Thinking of who it may be because I wasn’t expecting someone. Maybe just my Landlord reminding us yo pay our bills on time. I opened the door and was shocked that my girlfriend was standing there with her things. I asked her what she is doing there and answered with a smile that she decided to move in on my apartment.
To cut the story short, we live in the same apartment as boyfriend and girlfriend for 9 months then decided to tie the rope. And I’m happy to tell you guys that we just celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary last Feb 13. 😊
It doesn’t matter how long or short the time you spent together with a person to know if he/she is the one. So if you found that someone, go for it and never let go. And there is no perfect relationship, what matters is how you both understand each other and how you both handle all the struggles in life.
