Wapakels is a slang Filipino word that means I don't care e er er er🤣. Seriously, it literally means I don't care.
We came to this neighborhood around 2012-2013, couldn't remember the exact year. There was a family feud with regards to this house that we're residing. But to make the story short, we won so that is why we're here and not them. So you can say that we are just "dayo" in this neighborhood and most of our neighbors are allies of Husband's relatives.
That is the reason why I don't go out that much. I went out only when needed like if I have to pay our bills, go to the market, and such. But as years passed, some attitude also fades away, but not all. There are still those who talk behind my back and smile at me when I'm with them.
I live in a subdivision but not the exclusive kind. There are 3 blocks and my house is located on the first block. Most lots have a measurement of 150 square meters and the only thing that separates from each lot is the concrete wall. Since I don't go out that much, I only have few neighbors whom I could say that I get the chance to talk to once in a while. So let me introduce you to some of my neighbors, let's start with...
Neighbor #1: Husband's Ex
Neighbor #1's house is located right beside our house. I have no problem with her because she is so approachable and she is also like me, the wapakel kind of neighbor. She just minds her own business and never mind what other people have to say. She works in our Brgy. hall. She's in charge of the VAWC dept. The only thing that I don't like about her is that she's so loud in the morning. Like she started shouting at her children as early as 5 am. So I don't need to set my alarm to be up early. Her RATATATATATAT alone is enough for me to wake up.
How did I know that she's husband's ex? One of our neighbors before who is no longer residing in our neighborhood was one of her closest friends, maybe she told her about it and that girl told me about it, gets nyo ba? lol!
Anyway, I asked my husband about it and he said it was in their high school days. And it was only a fling. I was never bothered about it.
Neighbor #2: The Ex Kapitan
Neighbor #2 is my father-in-law's close friend. He helped us when we were just new in the neighborhood because he was the Brgy. captain at that time. But I don't know what happened that he changed.
He never talked to us anymore and there was even a time that he almost ran over husband with his car one night. He was drunk when that happened, he kept yelling at my husband although he was the one at fault.
He is also the one I posted about in noise.cash. The grumpy old man who hates our dogs because he thought that our dogs were responsible for the poops in front of his house.
Neighbor #3: The 2 Faced Noona
Noona is a Korean word that means older sister
Neighbor #3 seems approachable. She always had a smile plastered on her face. She always talks to you joyously. As if she is very happy to see you. But beware because she will always talk about you behind your back. Neighbor #3 is very well known for her behavior.
Neighbor #4: The Plantita
She's the typical plantita, like seriously, all she did was tend her plants. I like her because she is kind and very soft-spoken. She is the kind of neighbor that I want to be with.
They are the kind of neighbors that I have. They are the distinct ones that's why only them I included in this article. I don't mind them in a way that whatever they say behind my back, I'll just let it go. For me, you can never avoid those kinds of people. So I just let them do their business and I'll do mine too. As long as we will not end up in Brgy, that is fine with me, lol!
