Part 1: Free Water World Adventure At Ocean Park Hong Kong

Part 2: The Giant Panda Adventure In The Rainforest

Part 3: The Submarine Train And Thrill Mountain At The Summit

From the underwater adventure in the Grand Aquarium, exploration of biodiversity in the rainforest, to the exciting Thrill Mountain. My Ocean Park's Summit adventure continued to find the most awaited shows in the park. When I think about Ocean Park, things that come to mind are aquatic animals and their exhibitions. The water world adventure wouldn't be complete if I can't see any of the marine mammals and they are one of the main reasons why people want to visit Ocean Park, especially the dolphins, seals, and others. We saved the best for last!

From the Park Tower site, we followed the trail going to the coastal side of the park and took a closer look at the fascinating beauty of the sunset as it slowly went below the horizon. And there we spotted the Pacific Pier with sea lion and seal statues on the rocky platform.

California Sea Lions and Harbour Seals At The Pacific Pier

At the end of the pacific pathway was a lighthouse and the lower part of it served as the entranceway going to the world of the pinnipeds. We passed through a corridor neon-painted with seals and sea lions' shapes that glow beautifully in the dark.

As we wandered through the end of the corridor, we saw the rocky coastal habitat of the pinnipeds. There were groups of harbor seals lying on the sand by the lake, while others were enjoying swimming in the cold water.

In the middle part was a group of California sea lions that were sunbathing on rock formations and others were swimming. A feeder came and the sea lions grouped on the rocky platform. They obediently waited for the feeder to throw fish into their mouths. They seemed to be well-mannered and obedient. When the feeder told them to sit, they just sat still and patiently waited for him to throw fish into their mouths.

It was an amazing scene showing that, sometimes, animals act better than humans. They just need one command and they would obediently follow you. This makes sense! And I was more amazed at how agile they were and swam so fast. And by the way, they also love eating ice. After they eat fish, the feeder dropped a bucket of ice on the rock platform and the sea lions enjoyed munching the ice.

From the Pacific Pier, we tracked back our way out and find the cutest and friendly marine mammals.

After our Grand Aquarium exploration, we asked the staff about the venue and schedule of the dolphin show. We sadly learned from her that there was no show for that day. But after seeing the sea lions, we opted to look for the dolphins, with or without show, just to take photos and see them up close.

Dolphin Explorations

Following the direction on the signboards, we found a blue building located just near the Pacific Pier and Park Tower. We were so happy when we finally found the place and we thought there was no show as there were only a few people in the Ocean Theater.

Ocean Theatre

We went down near the pool area to have a closer look at the dolphins, and we found them swimming around the pool. More people were coming and I told my friend to ask the dolphin care trainer about the show as we don't want to waste our time. Fortunately, the trainer said that the show will start at 5:30. My joy could not be contained as I heard the good news and it would be my first time to watch live dolphins' performances in the water. We found better seats where we could take videos and photos of the dolphins' exhibition.

Sea Lion's Show

At 5:30 in the afternoon, the wind was getting colder and the crowd dispersed around the theater. A trainer went out from backstage with a cute sea lion tailing him. Then the show was held at the platform near the seating area.

Some parents with their kids gathered near the area and the sea lion started to perform various stunts following the command of the trainer using a yellow baton.

It would raise its body, sit, lay down the platform, and swim in the water. The trainer would then reward it with fish which motivates it to perform well.

Dolphins' Show

After the sea lion show, the most awaited part came and we were so excited to see cute dolphins' performances in the water. The trainer called the dolphins using his whistle and they swam near the platform. They were fed with fish first before they started doing various stunts.

I was amazed at how the trainer trained them well as they synchronously danced on the water.

They rose vertically out of the water and gracefully danced forward, dived, and surprisingly jumped out of the water in a synchronized manner.

They returned near the platform to get their reward and the two dolphins were commanded to perform tail-walking on the water facing backward and forward.

More stunts were performed, such as, raising out of the water when their names were called respectively, and waving their tales when the speaker and audience said "bye-bye."

It was indeed a fantastic marine mammals show and one of my wishes was granted. That was to see marine mammals closer.

Shark Mystique

We were about to look for the cable car station when we passed by old-style houses with lights that resemble the fishermen's fishing village stilt houses in Tai O village. Due to curiosity, we visited the houses and found out that it was the area for the Shark Mystique. We passed through the stilt houses' corridor and entered the shark's huge mouth at the end of it. From outside to inside, the building was fishermen's village-themed. There were fishing rods, nets, and other fishing equipment.

I was stunned by the beauty of the overhead pools due to the lights' reflection in the water making the sharks visible on the surface. There was a fisherman's boat at the surface and different aquariums of different kinds of fish, as well as baby sharks.

We moved forward a spiraling corridor until we reached the Shark Mystique viewing area. And we finally took a closer look at different sharks of different sizes and types swarming inside the huge aquarium. There were hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, white sharks, and other peculiar types of sharks.

A huge tiger shark glided by the viewing glass and I was terrified of its scary eyes and teeth. While looking closer at it, I was thinking about, "what if the glass breaks? Sharks would definitely attack and eat us hoomans 😳."

Aside from sharks, other attractions were manta rays, as well as schools of fish of all sorts and sizes and kinds.

I wondered though if sharks eat those small fish when they get hungry. How do they feed the sea creatures inside the aquarium?

We decided to find the cable car station as it was getting late already. But we got hooked by another attraction as it was only located near the cable car station.

Jellyfish Spectacular

The jellyfish were indeed spectacular as they beautifully glow in the dark with their translucent features.

There were different tanks of translucent jellyfish changing colors from the neon lights.

The main attraction of the place was the spectacular rows of cylinder tanks full of thousands of jellyfish with state-of-the-art lighting and music. The tanks were changing the lights' colors that synchronized to the music, from white, pink, red, blue, yellow, orange, and green. And I can't keep myself from taking photographs of them in the mirror.

The pink light was the cutest

It was like a magical and fantastic jellyfish show. It was the most spectacular and colorful show I have ever seen.

We left the place with smiles on our faces and queued at the cable car station, and head back to the Waterfront. It was indeed a good decision to take the cable car going down as Ocean Park and Hong Kong shorelines looked stunning at night.

We passed through the Old Hong Kong village side of the Ocean Park, and there were old tram, ocean-themed carousel, and different food shops of HK's local street food.

The whole Ocean Park looked stunning at night with its futuristic lighting and effects. I liked most especially the Christmas Alley, ocean-themed alley, the Magic Viva (with no magician, lol), and the lake in front of the Grand Aquarium.

More beautiful memories have been added to my treasure chest and are something that can not easily be forgotten. At least, I could say that this visa extension is worth spending as my birthday wish to visit Ocean Park has been granted.

Thank you for staying with me on this virtual tour. I hope you like it. Don't forget to read the other parts. Refer to the links above.

Don't miss out the other parts, see links above. Enjoy and thanks for reading! Until next time 🙂.
