The most stressful jobs.

The most stressful jobs are precisely those that demand the most protection and self-care. Stress is a factor that directly affects physical and mental health. For this reason, the activities that generate the most stress should be specially monitored. In general, the most stressful jobs are those that expose people to a specific danger, especially if this threat is life-threatening. We are talking about risks that in themselves impose a significant burden of distress. It should be noted, however, that this is a generalization. Sometimes, the most stressful jobs do not depend on the activity itself, but on the conditions in which it is performed. A clerk, without exposing himself to danger, may have a high stress load due to the pressure to which he is subjected by his superiors.

Every work activity requires a component of self-care and protection by employers or those in charge of managing the work. Health comes first, then productivity. I will go on to mention some of the stressful jobs. Next on the list is being in the military, they prepare for war or are at war. An armed confrontation is one of the most stressful situations there can be. In the midst of a conflict, life takes on another value, besides talking about an environment that on a psychological level can impose renewed and constant duels. Another job would be to be a firefighter, often also exposed to serious threats. On the other hand, much of their work is performed in circumstances where there is little control and much at stake.

In that sense, each fire or disaster has its own characteristics, so there is a significant level of uncertainty. Likewise, for emergencies there is no date or time, so these people must always be alert. We can also include police officers in this count. They deal with situations on a daily basis in which there are weapons and instruments that can inflict significant damage. Like the military, they are frequently exposed to unforeseen and uncontrolled situations in which their lives are at risk. They tolerate a high level of uncertainty due to the fact that public enemies are not predictable in their thinking or actions. Hence their high level of stress. In the same vein, but no less important, are event organizers.

They do not risk their lives, nor are they exposed to tragedies, but they do have to attend to many details at the same time. Above all, they must ensure that actions that by their nature are diverse and independent merge into a harmonious whole. Another stressful job is that of reporters, which depends on three factors. How the schedule: it varies depending on the circumstances, on the news. It is necessary to be in the facts or cover them when they occur. Sometimes they have to expose themselves to dangerous situations and also work very fast, since the objective is to inform instantly. They have to deal with several topics on a daily basis, in different scenarios, being able to handle an overwhelming amount of information. Beyond the preferences that each of us have at work, stress can appear in some occasions as well as in others.

Ultimately, this is a situation that has an impact on health. More and more people talk about work stress when asked about work. There are many people for whom employment adds meaning to their lives and contributes positively to the development of their identity. But others regard their occupation as an unpleasant set of obligations. Tasks they describe as irrelevant, monotonous and demanding, which makes them victims of job stress. Not all people have the same capacity to adapt to stressful circumstances. This capacity is conditioned by different genetic factors, personality traits and the physical and mental conditions of each of us.

Have you ever had a stressful job?
